+ 0 morePerfectly with ASTAR - although our utility company did cause some trouble that ASTAR had to work around. Everyone at Ed Engel's company has been great to work with... Competent, Polite, and Creative when needed. It has been an experience that I have never heard repeated... I have since tried to stear any of my neighbors doing similar work to ASTAR. Each time ASTSR returns to do routine system cleaning or maintenance I again happy I made a good choice for this installation.
Description of Work: I decided several years ago to upgrade our heating system as part of a switch from oil to gas... ASTAR was ons af several I interviewed and they were by far more knowlageable and competent than any other "plumbing contractor" I had ever interviewed. Their price was in fact the highest of all the contractors I interviewed but it was clear that they were selling a service that was and would in the future be worth it. The conversion job was delayed by Orange and Rockland Utilities (Not by Astar) and significant changes had to be made due to Orange and Rockland - but ASTAR worked around all the problems and did a flawless installation of a system that has since saved me more than their extra cost each year due to its' high efficiency. This year I had a slight mal-function in the system and called the president of ASTAR (Ed Engel) on a Snday (on his cell number) to ask what I could do to get heat back on (I had a house full of guests, of course)... Ed thought for about 15 seconds and asked, "may I call you back" He DID CALL BACK within 15 minutes - asked me to go to the heating system, locate a componant, press a button... The system came back on and has been working perfectly since... He said that he knew it could not be serious as the systems he installs never break.... WOW, What service!

Description of Work: Astar comes for annual maintenance on my Air Conditioner and Heater, they check its working properly (both indoor and outdoor) and replaced the AC filter.

When discussing financing and scheduling for the initial walk-through, Jeremy made sure all my questions were addressed. During the walk-through, the installation manager Adam was knowledgeable and experienced and paid attention to detail to make sure he had all the information he needed to provide the best service. The installation crew was great. Rob, Rick and Ron were very professional, courteous and clean. When they were done they left everything as clean as when they arrived. The job was completed as planned and in the time frame they had given in the consultation. The President of Astar, Ed is hands on in all aspects of his company. He makes you feel at ease, is understanding and easy to talk to. He really gets involved. I would definitely recommend Astar to anyone.
Description of Work: Installed new furnace, AC and hot water heater and converted the system from oil to propane.

Hard start booster was added into AC unit without me seeing or being told until the work was done. ($225 charge) 4. Service repair guy was courteous and professional. 5. Generator kicked right in and ran for 3 days straight. You do not get better than that. Astar handled everything from permit to final test. Very good exoerience.

+ -1 moreAstar has done three jobs for us, a top of the line regency gas fireplace, an indirect hot water heater and now, the most impressive - a Kohler natural gas whole house automatic generator. All of these are top of the line equipment. The owner, Ed always answers his phone if you ever have a question. Astar is not the cheapest, but there's something to be said for you get what you pay for.

+ -1 moreHe located the problem with the furnace very quickly. He got the furnace up and running in less than an hour. Because we have been customers for a number of years, and have a maintenance contract with ASTAR, Ed, the owner, declined any payment for his work, saying that "we had been good customers, and he just wanted to see that we were ok!" That, in my opinion, is exceptional customer service! AStar's work is also consistently professional, they always follow up, and are a pleasure to deal with. In the past, they installed a brand new heating system, and upgraded our air conditioning, which have performed well. The problem that we had during the storm was due to an electrical short circuit, not a product defect..
Description of Work: The furnace quit in the middle of a storm. They were having trouble getting trucks out because of the driving conditions, so the owner of the company actually got in his own vehicle, and drove through the bad weather to our home. He said he wasn't going to leave us in the cold!.He obviously was concerned, and he was very reassuring!
