Everything went smoothly, as on the prior occasion when I used Mike the Glazier. First someone came and measured, then I was given a price, then about two weeks later someone came and installed the windows and screens. Fine and reliable work.

will probably use Mike for my window glass replacement, because he's been around a long time and knows his stuff.
Description of Work: Had Mike the Glazier cut glass for front door awhile ago, was very good, fast and reasonable. Recently he gave me an estimate of a job to replace window glass. He was pleasant and informative and gave me a reasonable cost estimate.

It was a terrible experience. The worker for the company showed up and started to count the hours for the labor. He then tells us that he forgot his equipment. He left to go get them and came back after an hour and half. The entire time he was gone , he included that time for the time of labor even though it was his fault that he forgot his equipment. When he started to work on the door he started to hammer it down to the point that he ended up breaking the lock to one of the doors. We were charged $871.00 for the job. The result of their labor left us with one door that we could open and lock. The other door before they came here. we could open it and lock it. After they came the guy told us that we could not open the door anymore and to keep it closed always. They left us in a worse situation then we were before. On top of that, We paid for the service the day of the job. Since then they have been sending us invoices for the same job requesting payment for a job we already paid and our bank statement shows that our check was deposited by them already. Now we had to pay $17000 to replace the piece that the worker from their company broke. We called the company and the person in charge said that the job was by hour and he could not do anything about it. They did not try to help us and we had to spend more money to fix the mess they made.
Description of Work: The company came to our business to fix our glass doors. We had problems with two of the doors.

Response from Mike the Glazier
I do apologize that you are dissatisfied with our service. Just a few things I wanted to clarify to you, when you called and asked us to come repair the door it was because the door was stuck and unmovable I explained immediately that there could be a host of issues causing the door to be stuck and that we charge an hourly rate to repair such issues. The cause of your issue is a faulty initial storefront installation, this is a totally frameless glass front with a large panel on top of the doors. Unfortunately that large panel above the doors was not correctly secured causing the glass to settle and bear its weight onto the doors below. This is the reason you were not able to move the doors. Upon freeing the doors to be able to move it became apparent that you also had non functioning door closers, because of the scenario put forth by the settling of the top glass it was not possible to remove the doors to change the closers, without redoing the front installation. Our goal was to get your doors to move then if anything needed to be done further we could proceed from there. I apologize if I was unclear in any way while explaining this to you as well as the error with sending you an invoice, we do have record of your payment. We did not charge you for any time where work was not provided, this case was simply caused by a faulty initial installation where one problem was the cause of the next. I would be happy to help you to properly install the glass on the top of the doors to alleviate the problem. Again I sincerely apologize to have left you dissatisfied and if I have the opportunity to serve you again would assure you to be satisfied. Thank you for your time and feedback

I called for a quote on a glass replacement for my Andersen patio door. I spoke with a guy named Ross. I have explained that the glass in my patio door was broken during the tree stump removal and then later replaced by a non professional who did a really bad job - the glass frame was bent and caulking was very sloppy. I have asked how much would it cost to replace the glass and was told it would be $450 + taxes. When I asked for a written estimate they sent me one with a different price of $706.06 - almost the price of the new door! Here's a quote from the email they sent: " The reason it is expensive is because we know you will be looking at everything we do very carefully." Basically instead of saying that they do not want the job they just decided to give a ridiculously high price! I now have a quote of $350 from another company which I will be using to do this job.

Response from Mike the Glazier
The reason for the change in price on this door is simple, when you called for the original estimate it was just to replace the glass, then when you shared photos and information on why you wanted to change the we could see it was quite a bit more labor than just changing the glass (ie. repairing the mess the previous installer created). The change only reflects the additional labor required for the repair. Also these type of patio doors from Anderson cost significantly more than $1000. I apologize for any misunderstanding, or if we didn't explain ourselves clearly

I had old leaking windows and needed to replace them as I was going to rent to a tenant. They installed three good quality windows that match others in the building. No leaks or drafts and am happy with the work. Will call them for a price in a few weeks when is hope for replacements for my home. Did it all over the phone and put a deposit down with a credit card. After work was completed paid balance over the phone. Overall good straightforward guys to deal with. Only reason they don't get an A for all categories is because you need to really wow me for an A. These guys simply did what they said they would do at a fair price and good workmanship which in the end is all you can ask for. My tenant is a real stickler and she had nothing but nice things to say about the installation..

I called for a price quote on a large mirror for my master bathroom. Rather than nicely explaining why they did not want to do the work or maybe even offering alternatives of what they would suggest doing instead, I was met with complete rudeness. The man said I don't want the job and hung up. I would never call this company ever again just by the 5 minute conversation I had with them. Customer service is the most important part of any business and this company completely fails on that. They also lack in mere sales skills- any good company would try and turn around a sale by offering suggestions and alternatives. The man on the phone was just plain disgusting.

This is a totally false claim, we would gladly service anybody and always take the time to talk with customers no one would ever be turn aside without explanation or communication. We have been in business for over 95 years and have a great reputation for customer service. If you could tell me who you spoke to I would gladly clarify the situation. I apologize if there was any miscommunication but we would never hang up on someone without due reason

They were very professional. Their price was fair. (I checked the price with Safelite. They wanted close to $200 more.) I brought the car in to their shop and they started working on it shortly after that. They replaced the glass and vacuumed all the glass. The owner and workman were very courteous and friendly. I would definitely recommend them. Ellen

I felt bad for them because they came on a Monday after our last terrible storm and we live at the bottom of a huge hill. They couldn't come Saturday because the storm was coming and we told them to go home because they would never get back up the hill if they came down. Our road was absolutely horrible. I think he came back the next day and was very understanding, so he was very nice. It was reasonable and we were happy with the price. They did a really good job. They're professional and know what they're doing. They come and get to work. They installed it quickly and give you instructions on how to take care of the glass before they leave. He explained about the year warranty for leaks and was just great about explaining everything.

Parking is a problem there, but I later learned they have a lot you can use across from the shop. I brought in my kitchen cabinet door . I needed glass put in. I was greeted by a very nice young guy who immediately gave me a very fair price and said it would be ready for pickup the next day. It was. Good jpb. Good price. I like a place that will cheefully do small jobs as well as bog ones.

We only have 2 complaints. When we put down the deposit for the wall size mirror we ordered they had to be reminded to subtract the 5% coupon. When the mirror was delivered there was a small damage where they made the cutout for the light switch . They never said anything until we saw it on the wall. We were fortunate to have a larger switchplate in another room that covered that problem, but if we had to buy one it would have cost at least $25.00 for a decorative one. We should have been advised and given the choice either to not accept the mirror or receive a small discount to cover the cost of a larger switchplate.
Description of Work: Basically they were cooperative and kept appointments in a timely manner. The material they provided was what they promised. They had to remove old mirrorwall tiles and install a single cut to order mirror. The installation and clean up were excellent.

I had a broken Andersen window, which was one piece of a 4-part bow window. It was mostly shattered and pieces continued to break off as it got hotter throughout the day. There was a huge mess. I felt I had to seal off the huge hole to keep out pests and keep more glass from crashing in. This took several hours. I found this company first from a friend's recommendation, then saw they were highly rated on Angie's list. Then I called the company and spoke to Chad around 3 pm. I told him I needed a 2-piece vacuum sealed pane for an Andersen bow window. He said no problem. Chad asked for the height of the window, as this was probably a stock size. Since it was getting late, he said he would have it put in 1st thing next day. As promised, he had a worker to my house 8:30 am the next day, with a double glass vacuum sealed window to replace the broken one. Unfortunately, the thickness was off. The worker saw the problem immediately, measured to be certain, and called it in. Not to worry, there are stock thicknesses too. The man cleaned away almost all of the shattered glass, but I still needed to vacuum, and try to clean away debris while he went back. By the time he made the drive back to the store, the new window was ready and waiting. He was back again in maybe 20 minutes and it was in and good to go in a flash. I was really very pleased. Thorough vacuuming and careful cleaning were suggested, to try to get the remainder of the glass, which I did after the worker left. He was right, because I was finding tiny shards in my plants, my rug and on nearby furniture, even the next day.
Description of Work: I had a broken Andersen window, which was one part of a 4-part bow window. As promised, a worker was at my house first thing the next day (Sunday), with a double glass vacuum sealed window to replace the broken one. Despite a small problem, all was fine and fixed before 11 am. Most of the glass shards were scooped up into a bucket and taken away, but there were some bits of glass on the ground and inside my house that were too small and I vacuumed the area afterward.
