Mr Carrea and his men were very polite, professional and punctual. Mr Carrea is a man of integrity. He arrived when he said he would and they were efficient and tidy. He honored the coupon that he had offered on Angie's List. I would not hesitate to use Carrea & Sons again and would enthusiastically recommend them as highly to my friends and neighbors as to those people on Angie's List.

They were wonderful. They made sure the driveway was even and followed up well. They were easy to communicate with.

14 days start to finish with 9 men here each day. The owner and his forman were here each and every day. He also help with a different design for the front patio which added a very specail look to the front of our house. His detailed added really enhances the entire project. The said part of this review is my ratings are now incleded because I am no longer a member of Angies List so I will include them here. Price, Quality, Responsivness, Pinctually and Professionalism are all" A"

Our experience with Mr. Carrea was top flight. The work was done on time with careful attention to detail. The extras we requested were agreed at reasonable cost and without the need for extending the schedule. We will use Jim again for other work we have to do around our complex.

Don't think this person should be on Angies List because they obviously don't want the work.

Called and left two messages about getting an estimate for new driveway and he never called me back!

quality work at a fair price

Contacted provider by phone; he came and gave an estimate on the spot and since I wasn't in a hurry, we agreed he'd contact me when he had a window. When he did, work was performed over about three days.

They were excellent. They were very professional, and on time. They returned phone calls.

Jim Carrea and his crew did a first rate job. It's neat, clean and very professional indeed. They reshaped the driveway, as we discussed, and put the bluestone back down at the entrance to the house. You'd never know it had been taken up and put back down. Jim and his nephew are personable, straightforward ("It's asphalt. Asphalt is asphalt.") and salt of the earth. I can't recommend them highly enough. The only difficulty we had is in communicating. Jim really needs a secretary. We were just talking on the phone, to arrange payment- - it's Sunday morning and he had 35 calls to answer that he hadn't been able to get to during the week. Anyone planning to use him should have some patience and his cell phone number, since calls to the office phone don't seem to be answered when he's out in the field.

I phoned them on the 25th, 26th, 27th, and the 31st of August, but they never returned my call.

James Carrea called me back when other local companies did not bother, and did a great job repaving our long, steep driveway. They also fixed the broken stone fence along the side, and installed paving stone. Our driveway was in bad shape -- in some parts holes were 6 inches deep. His crew and the foreman were professional and also considerate, nice guys. Carrea's estimate came in low which initially made me suspicious. But another, well-respected, local driveway paving company gave me estimates, agreed to the job -- and then never showed up and stopped answering calls. In frustration I called back Carrea and they did the work, at a much lower price! I would highly recommend the company.

I was referred to Carrea and Sons by a past landlord who had Jim do his driveway so I had seen the work and knew it was good. I also saw that he had good ratings on Angie's list so I gave him a call. It took a little while to get a return call, but once that happened he was quick to come out and perform an estimate. He gave me the quote on the spot. My wife and I later changed the "plan" so I called Jim up again to ask if he could adjust the estimate. It took a bit of phone tag until we connected again, but he re-did the estimate for me over the phone as the change didn't really require him to see it again. We had solicited 3 other quotes and all came in well above his number. Since I had seen his work before and the reviews were so good I figured let's just do it - so I put my name on the list to have the work done. That was in May and his company gets very busy in the summer so I had to wait until July for the work to be done but that was not a problem for me. We touched base at the end of June and he scheduled me for the first week of July. On the appointed day, he showed up on time with an army of men and trucks and tools and got right to it! They finished the excavation and laying of the asphalt on the first day and prepped the apron for concrete work. Another smaller team came out the next day (Saturday) and did the concrete work. Jim came by near them finishing to inspect the work and that is the first time I paid him...I had not given him a deposit or anything prior to that. I am not an expert in concrete or asphalt, but everything looks great and has been fine since and I have no reason to think otherwise. He and his team clearly know what they are doing and are fast efficient and offer good prices.

The job was excellent from start to finish. Jim, the owner, provided me with multiple references and I was able to see examples of his work prior to committing to the job. He also was very accommodating despite rain delays. The driveway looks great.

They did a great job! The price was reasonable. When they showed up, they brought about 20 guys. They were very efficient and fast. The management was very helpful in giving directions on how to care for the driveway. I have already recommended them to a couple of my neighbors. I like that it is owner operated. There was a little bit of trouble getting them scheduled to start, but nothing outrageous.

We were very pleased with them. The person that was good but not as good as other we have hired before. He took some time to get here, and I had to call him several times. However, he was very reasonable. The quality of work he did was not that great.

No only was his estimate the lowest we received but the workmanship was outstanding. Jim does not parcel out the work to other people. This is the real deal. His trucks, his men, his equipment, If you are wondering why the quotes very--it may be your snazzy address or it may be subcontracting..but Jim is fair and professional which is why he has been in business so long. Also Jim stayed on the job and worked with his men. He came, he saw, he delivered and we are very pleased/

Very quick to give me an estimate, but was hard to get him on the phone to set a date.

I had initially heard about Carrea and Sons from another home improvement contractor who said they did very good work. I contacted the company and received a voice mail. That evening I received a return call from the owner, Jim Carrea, who promptly scheduled a time to come out and provide a free estimate. He was very flexible with my schedule and arrived on time for the appointment. I was told they had done other work within my neighborhood. Jim provided me with a written estimate on site. After the initial estimate my job requirements changed so Jim came out again when I contacted him. Within 2 weeks he was able to complete my job. They have a great team that is very skilled, and you can tell they have worked together for a long time. Jim is on site during a lot of the job.

Excellent experience. Carrea & Sons was responsive in providing an estimate and provided a comprehensive list of references (which were all positive). We scheduled the work to occur 4 months later (to avoid winter season) and the work was performed in the promised time frame. We are very pleased with the quality of the work.
