It came out beautiful. The work was completed within a couple of days. The workers were professional and punctual each day.

Had huge problem with water in basement in newly purchased home. Received several quotes but found Rick to be the most open and clear about what needs to be done and how he would do it. His hard working crew is incredible, with a positive attitude and the entire experience was very positive. I was so happy with the work, we hired Alto to do a seal coat on the thirsty driveway AND received a quote for a back patio - likely to be done next year. Can't say one bad thing about this company. The price was very good considering the quality of the work. More than some but much less than others. As a friend of mine says: "You pay peanuts, you get monkeys." Considering the quality of the work, the price was incredibly inexpensive. Thank you Alto!

Rick was very responsive and professional. Everything went smoothly from initial estimate to final payment. He gave us a timely estimate and kept in contact with us during the entire project. After 23 years our original driveway was severely damaged. Alto demolished our old driveway, reset and cemented our existing Belgian blocks along the perimeter of the driveway, and installed a drainage system so stormwater would not collect on the bottom of the driveway. Alto then repaved the entire driveway. RicK kept to his schedule and called and emailed us throughout the project. The quality of Alto's work was excellent and the workers kept the work site neat and clean. I highly recommend Alto Contracting.

Rick was a pleasure to work with. He was professional during all stages of the project, and he responded quickly to my inquiries whether by phone or email. Most importantly, he was on-site and working with his crew - driving machinery and coordinating details. His men were courteous and respectful of my property as well as skillful. I needed an asphalt driveway removed and widened in order to accommodate two cars side by side. Every step of the project proceeded as Rick said it would. A bonus not included in our agreement was the re-grading of sections of the lawn adjacent to the driveway. This also included re-seeding. Amazingly, the seeds germinated in late October avoiding bad curb appeal. The work was completed on schedule and on budget. I'll be calling Rick this Spring for a quote on sealing the driveway. Alto Contracting should definitely be in your top 3.

Perfect - could not have been more satisfied. While a little pricey for a very small job, Alto is extremely responsive, punctual, neat and thoroughly professional. I waited to submit a review to be sure that the repointing held, and I could not be happier. The steps were very loose and they've now endured freezing cold weather, warm thaws, snow, ice, etc. I am delighted with the service and would highly recommend them and use them again (yes, even for a small job -- they're worth the price.)

We contacted Alto Contracting for an estimate when planning a new walkway for our house. Communication was prompt and professional. We met with Rick, and again were impressed with his preparedness and professionalism. He even had samples of the stamped concrete that we were considering using. We ultimately decided on pavers instead of stamped concrete, so we used another contractor for the work, but our experience with Alto Contracting was a very positive one.

The work was done the same day I called (thanks to the fact that they were working close by). The team was professional and thorough. Too often professionals and amateurs put down entirely too much substance. Alto knows their business and do it the way it is supposed to be done. They will be my vendor for this service.

My driveway job had to wait for my siding job to be over and Rick was very accommodating. The job was rescheduled for the next week, they came on time worked quickly and the driveway looks great with no mess to clean up. Very easy to deal with.

He was able to listen to our concerns with water and was able to pitch the driveway so this was no longer a concern. A couple of months after we had his company return to seal our driveway. He would not complete work until he had the proper weather conditions while other quotes were given and work would be completed when the weather was too cold or hot. Highly recommend his services.

Rick, the owner was on site, and the work was done neatly and with a high degree of professionalism. He went the extra mile and evened out a section of asphalt that was someone else's work in order to avoid pooling of water. There was no debris or messy drips anywhere on site. The driveway looks great and I'm sure it will provide years of service. Rick additionally sent a list of how to care for the driveway and when to seal in the future. All in all, a first rate experience. I would definitely use this company again.

Rick was a pleasure. I called and left a message. He called back almost instantly. I told him what the situation with my drive is and he agreed to come by in a few days to do an estimate. He came the next morning and I received his proposal that same day.He explained my options and the process and we agreed on a date, which was right away. He was extremely professional and answered my emails with questions again almost instantly. I can't recommend him enough. My driveway actually needs to be torn up and redone (he also gave me that proposal) but that job will have to wait a while. I will certainly contact him first when that time comes.

If you are looking to have your driveway replaced and resurfaced you can stop reading reviews because you have just found your guy. I was looking to have my driveway ripped up, widened to fit two cars and replaced with a gravel base (or item 4) before it was paved. I also needed some drainage put in for my gutters to run under the driveway and a problem area with my walkway where water would continually freeze and thaw creating a dangerous icy mess in the winters. I called 6 people on Angies List to come over and take a look. Rick Ribiero at Alto Contracting impressed me before he even showed up for an estimate. He was the first (and still only) contractor to send me an invitation via Google that I was able to add to my calendar (I use Google Calendar for my entire life). Let me start off by saying that I am very good at reading people when I meet them in person. I knew from the moment that Rick came over that he knew his business. He listened to my concerns and addressed each one of them individually adding in some recommendations along the way. I had not heard of a curtin drain before and I proposed a 2' x 2' "box" to carry the water away from my walkway. I did not realize that water also runs below the surface and Rick recommended a drain to take care of both surface water and underground water. When it comes to the his personality he did not try to push any of his services and told me even if I went with someone else I wanted to make sure that the asphalt was 6F and not 7F (7F is not as coarse and looks nicer but the asphalt is so fine that it does not last as long). I knew from my research that I wanted 6F as well. Here is a breakdown of what my job entailed. Three of the contractors I interviewed wanted to do the entire job in 1 day. I realize that this saves them money in the long run but from my reading when you rip up the driveway and put down a gravel base you want to wait as long as possible for the stone to settle before it is paved. Rick confirmed this and told me we would wait somewhere between 3 and 4 weeks once the gravel was put down. This made me happy because I wanted to wait as long as possible and since I was widening my driveway I knew the base needed to settle because there were bushes where the driveway was being extended that needed to ripped out (Rick did this for a really good price too). Here is a breakdown of the proposal I signed: 1. Remove and dispose of the existing deteriorated driveway, and install a new 2 1/2" thick asphalt driveway over a compacted gravel sub-base. The driveway will be widened to 18' from the roadway to the front walkway and meet the existing radius at the left side of the garages. 2. Remove and dispose of the existing bushes at the right side of the driveway (including the root ball). Compact the existing soil and install item 4 base material and compact prior to paving. 3. Excavate and install a new drainage system below the grass surface adjacent to the driveway and walkway corner. The drainage system will accept the surface and ground water at the left side grass area of the driveway and allow it to discharge through a pipe to the existing rear drainage area. 4. Install new cobblestone curbing set in a mortar bed around the 3 perimeter sides of the driveway. The cobblestone curbing will be set flush along the left side of the driveway and will terminate at the existing stone wall. The cobblestone curbing along the right side of the driveway will be set flush up to approximately the front corner of the house, and then they will be raised until the end/right corner of the driveway. The bottom cobblestone curbing along the chain link fence will be set flush and terminate at the rear corner of the house. 5. Install new underground drainage pipes from the 2 existing gutter leaders at the driveway and discharge the water to the existing rear drainage area. 6. Re-build the existing stone wall to the left of the garages. The wall will be created with natural stone with mortared joints, and the existing adjacent wood cement pillar footing will be additionally reinforced with stone and cement. So you can see it was more than just a driveway. I wanted to put down the Belgian blocks on the sides of the driveway but I did not want them to be raised because of my lawn mower and snow blower. I wanted the Belgian blocks to be the same heights as the driveway and Rick was able to provide that for me. The pricing for the work was spot on with the other estimates that I received. In fact I am a teacher and one of my students has a father who is a direct competitor with Rick - he was going to give me the ?family discount? rate that was exactly the same as Rick?s pricing but I trusted Rick?s expertise over someone that I actually knew and I think that says a lot. Rick worked out pricing with me to pay him a little bit each day as the work progressed. I liked how I did not have to pay anything out of pocket before the job began. Now let me talk about Rick?s crew. First of all Rick was always there throughout the job making sure everything was progressing smoothly. His crew was very respectful of my property and left each day without making a mess ? what a hard working group of guys. There were 6 guys working and I mean working hard even in the heat. I tried to take care of them after each part of the job tipping them each $40 before and after the job and while I know Rick was appreciative that I took care of them I still felt it was a little cheap on my end. Now for the best part of my review. The extras that weren?t included in my talk with Rick and not on the contract. These are things that happened sort of behind the scenes that made me realize how good of a guy Rick at Alto Contracting is. The first surprise was when I came home for lunch the day that the paving had begun. I knew that my driveway would probably require a few coats of asphalt but I was not expecting Rick to take the initiative to put down binder (the 3/8? asphalt) before laying the top coat (1/4? asphalt). From my other proposals from other contractors they wanted an extra $2000 to put down binder first before the top coat. The binder makes the driveway stronger because the foundation is better with the larger asphalt. Rick decided that since he had to make two trips anyway to get enough asphalt he was going to give me the ?Cadillac? of a driveway as he referred to it. That was a really pleasant surprise. Also the contract called for 2.5" of asphalt but in reality I had close to 4" laid down - I know this because the asphalt is the same heights as the Belgian blocks he put in and I measure the height between the gravel and the blocks before the asphalt was placed down. In addition I have a walkway made of Bluestone that was not in the best shape. Rick?s guys picked up the first 6 stones (about 15 feet at no cost) and re-cemented them to be level with the new driveway (probably a half day?s work). After the driveway was put down I noticed the underground water was starting to come up from the ground behind the driveway and near the foundation of my garage. When you make adjustments to the ground, the surface and ground water is going to change their patterns. I took some videos and sent them t o Rick and he came over to take a look that afternoon (talk about service right?). I asked him what was necessary to take the water away and he recommended a perforated pipe in gravel to keep this water away from the house. He told me how to do it and I told him that with a newborn child there?s no way I?m going to have the time to take care of it even if it is a very easy job to do. I asked him for a price to take care of it and to my surprise he said don?t worry he would take care of it. This is the type of person Rick is and I can?t put into words how happy my wife and I am with the work that was performed and the way that Rick went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. In the future when I need my walkway replaced and any other masonry work performed Rick will be my go to guy. Thanks Rick!

Well-done. Was an area that dried with thick drip marks, so seems a bit sloppy. But upon query with photos, their explanation satisfied me and quelled my concern. Very professional company, and definitely a cut above so many contractors.

I was unaware that they were closed and on vacation. The owner returned my call when he returned, and I will call him to get an estimate for my driveway.
