Advantage Hardwood Floors

Most of the steps going upstairs were worn way down. The hallways upstairs were never refinished, there were gaps, and broken flooring. They vacuumed and prepped beforehand and cleaned up afterwards. They filled in the gaps and replaced missing/broken flooring. My pine floors look brand new! The work was completed in 2 days. The guys were professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. Advantage Hardwood was recommended to me by 2 persons. I plan on using them again in the near future.

We hired Advantage Hardwood to come back to our house and remove some fine scratches throughout the floor they were in and out in three hours and the floor looks brand-new again they are the best in Western New York!!!

They showed up on time, Installed the flooring in one day and did some custom design work of the red oak nosing on the hallway landing and the back mud room doorway (this was a very good job); they then came back the next 2 day's to do the polyurethane coating. this was a total of 3 day's at this point. We had some issues with the wood flooring having some worm/bug holes in the planks after they had finished with the last coating of the polyurethane, they came back and tried to repair the wood the next day however there was still issues with the repair. When I talked to Dave the owner of the company his first question was what was it going to take to make me happy. Well he went ahead and removed the bad wood, replaced it and re-sanded the whole area that the wood was installed (living room, dining room and kitchen) and did the three coats of polyurethane again, this was a very professional job well done. I would refer his company to anyone looking to get wood flooring installed.

Advantage spent three days on the job. They removed old carpeting one day, put in the hardwood and stained it the next day, and put on a second coat the final day. There was a minimum of dust or odor. They cleaned up impeccably. Exceptional quality and service. The work was completed as promised. The follow-up was outstanding. The price was fair, especially for the attention to detail. The floors look great!

Advantage Hardwood was the first company that I called after reading the positive reviews on Angie's List. Dave was courteous and kind on the phone and I scheduled an appointment to meet him a few days later for an estimate. Dave was prompt and professional and his expertise became quite clear as he began to assess the old floor and describe the work that needed to be done. I was left with a very positive impression and felt confident that he would do a great job. I appreciated Dave's professionalism even more after calling a different contractor recommended by a friend. It was not a good experience. The guy didn't show up or call, and when I did meet him it was obvious he wasn't interested in doing the work that Dave had described. I met with one more contractor for an estimate before deciding to hire Advantage Hardwood. The description of the work and time of completion was clear and concise. It would take about 4 days of work to complete the project. and we scheduled a starting date. The only negative experience that I had was that I supposed to receive some floor samples in the first week. I never got them and felt like I was waiting in the wings a bit. A different contractor suggested that go to the lumber store and I check out floor samples myself. I'm glad I did. The owner of the store was very helpful and informative and I got a free lesson about hardwood. The owner of the store also knows Dave and confirmed that I made a good choice in hiring him. I selected a higher grade quarter-sawn white oak and contacted Dave to let him know of the change. Dave arranged for the wood to be delivered to my house about one week before the work would commence. The work went exactly as Dave described. They spent the first day (a Thursday) removing the old floor. I couldn't believe my eyes when I got home from work. The old floor was just gone... removing all that debris could not have been easy because of the parking situation around my house and the fact that it was raining all day that day. I was impressed! They installed the new floor on Friday. I was away for the weekend and couldn't wait to see what I would find on Sunday night. I was amazed. The floor was done! All that was left was the staining. On Monday I went to the house to choose the color of the stain. Dave wasn't there but his crew was hard at work. I spoke to his brother and another crew member and they were very helpful. They put samples of different colors down so that I could see the differences and they gave me suggestions. I finally chose "golden oak" and am glad that I did. It looks beautiful. I stopped in the next evening to see the finished floor. It looks great, but I noticed a bubble in one of the floor boards that needed repair. I also noticed that some debris that hadn't been cleaned up properly. A little glass window in one of the built-in bookshelves was broken; a casualty of the installation. I called Dave the next day to inform him of these issues and he assured me that they would be corrected. The next afternoon, I stopped in to check out the finished floor. Dave was there, alone, adding one more coat of polyurethane to the floor. He was not completely satisfied with some loose ends left by his crew and had personally taken care of all the issues I brought to his attention. He fixed the bubble, the window,and cleaned up more thoroughly. It it obvious that he takes great pride in his work. I have plans to work with him again.

As other reviewers have stated, Advantage surpassed expectations. The entire process, from initial contact to completion, was completely professional. Phone calls were returned promptly, the project began on the date promised, and it was completed earlier than expected. Dave Mitchell was on the job every day, and the crew members were consistently hardworking and helpful. The quality of the work was excellent -- our new floors are beautiful! We highly recommend Advantage. Dave recommended National Lumber as a supplier for our flooring. Dave Whissel at National was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. We're very happy with our decision to purchase our flooring from National.

Dave's crew was very professional and no-nonense. They came in and went right to work, repairing and replacing hardwood where necessary. Floors were stained and have 3 coats of poly, and they look great.

Was very accomodating to my schedule and the schedule of other repairs being done in the room. One crew came on one day to remove broken boards, repair and replace boards needing such work and then sanded the floor and applied two coats of finish. The second day involved the last coat of finish and placement of quarter round. Made a very sad floor look much better.

Solicited bids from two companies. Advantage was much higher than the other company but Dave was very professional and gave me confidence that the job would be done well. He was willing to negotiate a small discount on the sum quoted. The company was responsive and returned calls readily. The work was scheduled and performed on the dates promised. The work was done while I was away in Europe and I was very pleased with the result when I came back. If I wanted to be very critical I would say that there was some dust on the floor from the job when I returned and that two closet doors had not been reinstalled or the heater louvres replaced in the floor. Overall, I was extremely satisfied with the work done and would recommend the company to anyone needing this kind of work.

This is our second time using Advantage for a major refinishing / installation project, and this is the second time we've been completely satisfied. Dave and John are extremely knowledgeable when it comes to flooring installation and re-finishing, and it really shows. Dave originally stopped over twice, on two different occasions to answer our questions and provide us with a quote. The work was scheduled a month in advance, and they showed up on the date planned, exactly as scheduled. They took time to answer my questions throughout the process, and also removed and patched a floor HVAC vent that was no longer in use. This wasn't part of the original quote, but it took them 10 minutes, and they didn't even question it. They spread the install out over a period of 2.5 - 3 days, so that the floors would be dry to walk on to get to bed at night. They opened the windows slightly to help air the stain smell, and it worked. They also took the time at the end of the job to answer all of my flooring questions about the future installation of hardwood when we remodel our kitchen. Dave stopped over a few days after the install was complete, to make sure we were happy, and collect payment. We showed him a couple spots where the dog had already scratched a spot on the floors (not Advantages fault), and he assured us the damage wasn't severe, and can easily be fixed down the road, or whenever we'd like. I would recommend Advantage, and will def be using them again...

It was expensive because it was a more exotic kind of wood; it was not pine or plywood. Given what we bought, it was probably a fair price. I found them very helpful. I like doing business with them. They were willing to help figure out what we needed, to sit down and let us know what would work and what would not work in the conditions we are installing it in. They seemed very knowledgeable with their product.

They were prompt, courteous and pleasant each day. I have a very heavy old time butcher block in the kitchen that needed to be moved out and then back in. They met that challenge with a sense of humor and professionalism. In fact, they fitted felt covers to each of the legs before replacing it. I wanted the wood floor to match that which was throughout the house which are the narrow boards requiring the floor to be installed unfinished and then finished. I also have a very open floor plan but the mess was kept at a minimum. The floor is beautiful and everyone agrees it was the correct choice. The original two stairs leading out of the kitchen were in fact wood that had been covered with linoleum and they were able to refinish them saving quite a bit. They are beautiful. The cost and time estimates were as quoted. I would use Advantage Hardwood Floors again.

All went very well. Questions were answered promptly promptly prior to installation. They arrived exactly when they said they would. They removed and bundled the old carpet in a size that our trash hauler would accept and placed it at the curb. As the job took two days - they cleaned up very well at the end of the first day. They handled moving a large piece of furniture without a problem. We are very happy with the finished product and would recommend Dave and Advantage Hardwood Floors to anyone thinking of a similar project.

Advantage Hardwood came out and gave me an estimate to tear up existing tile floor, replace with Brazilian Cherry, and also replace all my stair treads. The price was fair and consistent with other estimates that I received. Unfortunately for them, they discovered that there were actually 2 floors that needed to be removed before the wood could be laid down. The only criticism I had was that after the job was done, I had my air ducts cleaned and there were many large chunks of tile down in my heating ducts. So much so, that the people cleaning the ducts could not get the equipment through. It's been cleaned and all is well. The wood floor that they put down was done beautifully. They are very professional and work quickly. They definitely do not cut corners and take the time to make sure that the job is done to your satisfaction. They also clean up after themselves and even dispose of most of the garbage. This is the second job I have had them complete, and I am planning on using them in the future. I highly recommend them.

The job went well. i was told it would take 3 days to do and was done as promised. I removed old carpeting and decided to refinish floor instead of put new carpet down. I discovered that the previous owners had did some remodeling before putting down the carpet an had replaced several strips of oak flooring with regular wood planks, Not sure if they could be replace, but Advantage replace it and blended in with rest of the flooring. Excellent job , minimum dust. Would recommend to anyone.

The group arrived on time, was flexible with other contractors, courteous to my family, and open to suggestion.

Very prompt and professional from estimate to performance of the work. Floors were in pretty rough shape and turned out beautiful.

I chose Advantage because they were professional and I was confident they would do good work, but also because they agreed to complete the work in a short window of opportunity I needed them to. They began work the day after I closed on my new (old) home, removing and replacing broken wood planks the first day, then sealing the next two days. We allowed a full day to cure before (protecting the floors and) bringing movers in. As we hadn't moved in yet, Dave and his crew had free reign of the place and worked very hard to meet the schedule we agreed to, arriving on time and working hard every day. I threw him a few surprises by requesting he refinish a couple steps at the back entrance, and then later coming back to install new shoe molding around the perimeter, but he was always understanding and professional. His price was comparable to others, but he impressed me with his professionalism, knowledge, and honesty. Even if I didn't have a tight schedule I still would have used him. In the future, I probably wouldn't have set such an aggressive schedule, but they did great work and I'd have them back again.

We had a "beat up" hardwood floor in one of our bedrooms (gouges, scratches, stains, etc.). We called in May to have Dave come in and give us an estimate. Time went by and we decided to go ahead with the floor refinishing. When we called however, the answering service said they were booking work into September (this call was placed in July!). I decided to leave a message for Dave anyways and, low and behold, he was able to make our short time table work (we needed them in asap because we are expecting a baby in Sept.). Dave was very professional and called ahead to make sure we were still on the date scheduled. The crew arrived on time and delivered! Our floors looked like new which, given the condition they were in, we NEVER thought would happen! The crew came back once more that Monday to lightly sand and apply one more coat of poly to the surface of the floors. We were able to start moving furniture back in Tuesday. We were very pleased with the outcome and would certainly use this company again!

They were fair. They were professional. The quality of the work was very good.

Advantage Hardwood did an amazing job tearing everything out, there was no mess left behind. The sanding and installation of the new floor left very little dust and they took care to cover doorways and shelves with plastic. Dave and his crew were professional, polite and did great work. We would definitely use them again and would recommend them to anyone. Thanks!!

My initial experience so far has been good. They are knowledgeable and their prices are reasonable. I will be having them install my hard wood floor.
