I told them my car felt like I was driving with the emergency brake on, in 3rd gear, or driving against the wind.  They did a diagnostic and said they took it for a test drive and it needed a tune up.  It cost $91 for the diagnostic, $70 for the parts and $300 for labor.  I complained that the labor charge was too high when the follow up person called.  The manager called the next day and told me the induction test was not on my bill, and he said he would send me a refund on the $91 diagnostic charge. I had my car repaired there twice before and thought the charges were reasonable for a quality auto repair shop:  struts and a compressor  were $1400 and $500 for front brakes.

Took all day to do work. Car was dropped off at 8:00 a.m. When I went in to pay for work, there was a puddle in under the car. I brought this to the attention of a front desk person. He came out and looked. Said oh that is ok. It will stop. The car is fine.
My husband and I came back around 7:00 pm. Bigger puddle under car. We drove it home. It sat in garage all night, in the morning still leaking.
The car was driven to my husband's first call for the day (Field Technician) and it leaked excessively. I called to inform the shop that he would be bringing it back in and it needed to be seen immediately when he did as he was losing work time because of this. I was given a snide remark about how and quot;he would have to wait while they looked at itand quot;
The problem, mysteriously shifting o ring. (try o ring not installed. I will be contacting AAA and informing them about how unprofessional the front desk staff and how shoddy the work is. This is the kind of thing that would make us drop AAA service all around.

all was fine, honored their appointment, did a through job of oil change and refilling of other fluids. clean waiting room with newspaper to read.

Making the appointment was very easy and times were convenient. Car was taken into service area within 5 minutes of arrival. Estimate of service time was accurate and was completed 5 minutes earlier than projected. I waited in their comfortable waiting area. When I drove away I noticed that the front driver side tire was not inflated to required 30 psi so I returned to shop and they immediately addressed the problem. Because of the sensitivity of the sensor it took about 15 minutes to reach the proper inflation but the issue was corrected. The technician explained about the sensor and said that if I had any problems with the tire to bring the car back and he would check the tire again. Since the car is equipped with OnStar if the pressure falls 2psi below 30 an alert is issued and requires nitrogen to be added. I prefer to use AAA Total Auto Care for servicing my 2011 Chevy Malibu LT.

I chose to have it repaired at the AAA facility because it was recommended to me when I called AAA for towing assistance. AAA towed it to the facility the evening before. I called first thing in the morning (7:30am), explaining the problem gave my recommendations on how they needed to proceed (since I already knew this would be a and quot;dealer onlyand quot; item, I had called the closest Scion dealer and had a cable placed in reserve).
Since it was VERY clear to me what the problem was and what the correct (e.g. and quot;onlyand quot;) solution was, this should have been a slam dunk for this shop. However, despite my and quot;pre-workand quot; for them, it took the facility until early afternoon to perform their and quot;diagnosisand quot; and that was only after me calling back several times to inquire on the vehicle status (they had promised to call me back in the mid morning but failed to do so, asking me to call back if they did not get back to me) and being bounced to three different people. I finally (around 2:15 pm) did get an answer - and quot;You have a broken transmission shift cable linkage at the transmissionand quot;.
Duh.
Had I not called to confirm that there was a replacement cable at the closest Scion dealership and reserved it, I am not sure I would have had the vehicle back in my possession that day.
I did get the repaired vehicle back that evening (I had to pick it up after they had closed, because I could not make arrangements to get there sooner).
So, can the facility do the work? Yes. Was the work that was done professional? I think so. Was I impressed with their ability to handle the customer or situation in a timely manner? No.
Finally, was the cost reasonable? Nope. afraid not in my mind. I think the price is on the high end - granted, the cable was a $200 item (my cost from the dealer, so I assume that the shop got a lower price), but I'm not convinced that it cost $220 to install.
There was no need for a lengthy diagnosis for this problem - heck, the vehicle was stuck in park in my driveway and I could SEE the broken plastic linkage by opening the hood and looking down at the transmission housing. Add to this the fact that I had to take a full day off from work (I was working in Silver Creek) because the and quot;diagnosisand quot; took so long and it was a long day.
This is one of those episodes where the customer was frustrated but not frustrated enough to waste more time escalate my dissatisfaction up the chain of command. I just won't be going back there, that's all.

I was looking for an alternative to the dealer and decided to try AAA. I will probably go back as my first experience was a positive one

I enrolled in Angies List because my son who is a student at Buffalo University needed his car looked at, his car was making a rattling noise that sounded like an exhaust issue. Because he is a student and I live on Long Island, 400 miles away, I figured he could easily fall prey to a service center that would take advantage of the situation. The mechanic discovered a the heat shield in the engine compartment made of sheet metal had come loose and it was causing the rattling. He removed the heat shield (which really isn't needed) at no charge. Boy did I get lucky, other mechanics might have told my son he needs a whole new exhaust system.

In a nutshell: AAA Car Care Plus is the best place for routine maintenance in Buffalo. AND YOU DON'T NEED TO BE A MEMBER! THE POSITIVE: 1.) They did an oil change and an inspection. 2.) They didn't try to sell me any extras, and they didn't push anything on me. 3.) There are very good advertised deals in the shop that are worth taking advantage of 4.) The waiting room is clean and has a TV with local stations playing (hi-def). I'm not sure if this is for customers, but they have a coffee machine and water. 5.) The bathroom is clean and nice. I think they even had diapers in there (no joke). 6.) Everyone was friendly 7.) All my belongings remained UNTOUCHED 8.) They didn't try to tell me that I needed an air filter when I don't or anything like that. They treated me as if I was intelligent and with respect, and I'm not very well versed with cars. 9.) Despite my car passing the inspection, they recommended I look at a few things in the near future (unrelated to the inspection). 10.) I got a free car wash at Delta Sonic (right around the corner). The Negative: 1.) The whole thing took about 1 hour, 30 minutes. This seemed long, but perhaps it suggests they're doing a thorough inspection. 2.) A standard oil change is $25 for everyone, and no deal was given for AAA members. However, AAA members can take advantage of a $99 offer that gives you one inspection, three oil changes, a car wash, nitrogen in your tires, and more (price may change depending on year, make, model). 3.) They have synthetic oil options, but they are very expensive. While other places don't take the apparent care AAA took, it's just not worth double the price for synthetic oil. Overall, I was satisfied, but the price is a little much. If you're going to get an inspection, I'd suggest not eating, and going to El Palenque or Dunkin Donuts right next door, or browse the selection at other nearby stores. Despite the price, I would go here over any quick lube place. They typically have shoddy workmanship and try to charge a ton for extras. AAA does not play that dirty game.

The price was high but the service was good.

They do a very good job. They are thorough and they call us if there are any problems. They give us a pretty good rundown on things.

I go there because they are prompt, they do a good job, they're professional, clean, and they clean the car before I get it back. They also clear any work with me before it's done.
