Viktor and his crew were professional and did an excellent job. They worked every day until the job was finished. The tiling looks great. They were very responsive to any special requests I had and kept me posted on the progress of the job. I would recommend Build Now NYC for any household renovation. The renovation took just about one month from start to completion.
Description of Work: Full bathroom renovation, including all plumbing, installation of toilet, sink, tub and shower body, replace all floor and wall tiles, paint the walls, and rebuild a cupboard.

They did not have proper tools to remove drywall from basement i.e. no hacksaws but made the best of it with box cutters. Apparently, the two workers were dispatched without being given the information of the job or the proper tools needed to accomplish the job. Guys were great and cleaned up afterwards. Just feel we could have gotten more done with better communication.

Did not seem to have much experience, more like a new company starting out - lacked equipment The owner/boss did not stick around just left directions. Workers worked hard but lacked equipment. Everyone was friendly but could have been more efficient and though ex. I asked if they filled in gaps on outside of dryer tube ( even offered the materials) and they said they did and showed me. Unfortunaltely I only looked at one side - the other side had a large gapping which is not good with the bugs and ants from my garden. The worker cut his finger because he was using a utility knife to remove old tube and materials - I gave him better equipment to use
Description of Work: put up smoke alarm, folding door for bedroom, indoor/ outdoor carpet for my pantry And reenameled bath tub This latter was a tedious and long job - did a nice job there. Also changed my torn exhaust tube for my dryer.

After contacting the intermediary that was listed with Angie's List after I purchased the service from Angie's List, my representative (Carlos) met a representative from BuildNYCNow (Andrew) on Saturday, October 24 to go over the estimate and discuss the scope of work. The work I wanted done was replacing the ceramic tiles in each of three kitchens in my property, each measuring about 40 square feet. For the forty hours I had contracted for $1,499 the contractor's representative estimate that it would take six days to perform the demolition of existing tiles and the laying of the new tiles. In addition to that kitchen tiling work, my representative asked BuildNYCNow's representative to estimate how much it would cost to replace the tiles in the foyers to the property. BuildNYCNow's representative mentioned that for an additional $1,000 they would do all kitchen and foyer tiling work. My representative asked NYCBuildNow' representative to provide an estimate he could present to me for approval; that he/me would have to get back to him on that. My representative also requested BuildNYCNow's representative to provide a list of all necessary materials to do the work. My representative also inquired when the work would start. BuildNYCNow's representative mentioned that they would give us two weeks notice, but estimated that the work would start one month henceforth (late November). My representative reiterated that my tenants needed much advance notice to make arrangement to have the contractor's work performed. [BuildNYCNow's representative asked my representative if we would dispose of the debris/rubbish ourselves.]BuildNYCNow never submitted a proposal for the additional tiling work in the foyer. BuildNYCNow never submitted a list of material needed to do the work. In fact, BuildNYCNow never provided a written estimate of the time it would take to complete the work or the scope of work for the work paid to Angie's List for. When asked again on October 31 to submit a list of materials needed, BuildNYCNow's representative texted a picture of the mortar he needed, indicating on further asking him that they needed 15 50pound bags to do the work. He, however, did not indicate the type of grout and the amount of grout needed or the total number of tiles to be purchased. This had to be estimated by my representative and the home improvement warehouse I purchased the material from.We did not hear from BuildNYCNow until November 5, when my representative informed BuildNYCNow's representative that all material for the work had been purchased. BuildNYCNow's representative then texted my representative asking whether they could start demolition work on November 6. This was only less than a one-day notice and the tenants were not be able to accommodate that time frame. We then agreed that work could start on November 13.At no point was there any further discussion or indication that the work would involve anything other than the three kitchens' tiling work. BuildNYCNow's staff worked on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday a total of approximately 31 hours. Andrew from BuildNYCNow informed us that they had to buy some additional materials and to send them a check to cover those costs (approximately $88.00). I sent this check to them. It was unbeknown to us that BuildNYCNow's staff had removed the tile in the foyer and installed new tiles instead until I went to inspect the work a few days later. After Andrew from BuildNYCNow received the check to cover for the additional materials, he has been contacting me to pay him an additional $1,000 for the foyer tiling work. However, this is work that was never authorized by me or my representative. Moreover, the work they performed took less than the forty hours I had contracted and paid Angie's List for. I do not see that I am responsible for any additional payments for work that was performed without my expressed or implied authorization or that of my representative, whom at no point gave it, or within the number of ours I had contracted through Angie's List..
Description of Work: We purchased the $1499 package for 40 hours of work. The contractor communicated almost entirely via text and did not take the time during the 2 hours planning time allocated to lay out what would be expected from both parties (materials etc).

Response from Build Now NYC
Thank you for your Review. I have seen [Representative Name Removed] who introduced himself as a Angies List customer and an owner of the property. We have discussed the scope of work required to perform the project (moving furniture, refrigerators and stoves, demolition of tiles and baseboards, bag in and bag out waste materials to the basement, installing new tiles, grout installation, baseboards installation on each of 3 Floors in every kitchen. The work was complicated due to tenants occupying apartments during construction and they needed to use their kitchens. Based on the fact that Member purchased a Deal from Angie's list which included 40 hours of work for one contractor and based on the objectives set by the [Representative Name Removed], I told him that at list 2 workers will be required to complete this job. During our meeting [Representative Name Removed] said that to addition he would also want to replace 85 sq ft the tiles in the foyer. I told him that it would be impossible to finish everything within a 40 Deal hours period. I advised [Representative Name Removed] that this additional work would cost a $1000 extra. Once the quote was given he mentioned that he needs to consult with his partner and he will inform me about his decision later. [Representative Name Removed] asked what materials he needed to purchased and I kindly provided him that information and he purchased it himself and also asked to give him brand names of the materials that we prefer to use but not expensive ones. We also provided that information to him. A few days later, [Representative Name Removed]called me and asked for the required amount of tile thinset and its brand name to replace all the tiles which we discussed and CONFIRMED performance of additional work, which was not included in Angie's list deal ($1000 Extra). Then via text message I sent the picture and the required amount of thinnest in order to do the extra job in foyer. After some time, we have agreed with the [Representative Name Removed] the date of begining of work. At the first day of work me and 2 of my contractors met [Representative Name Removed] partner [Member Name Removed] which I met before when I first time came in this building, we had agreed on a steps for the project, she showed us all purchased materials when I asked her why [Representative Name Removed] is not present?, she told me that he was sick. We have begun work and also checked that the customer purchased material would be enough to do the job. - Please note that the customer has bought enough tiles to be installed in kitchens and foyer. During 4,5 days of work we didn't received any complaints from tenants nor from [Representative Name Removed] representatives. Throughout the work, I tried to get in touch with [Representative Name Removed] since he was the one who I spoke to about all the details but unfortunately my phone calls never been answered. On the last day of work on November 16, I wrote him a text that we are going to finish all work in couple of hours and asked him to add to the previously agreed price of $1000 for extra foyer tiling add additional $88 for the baseboards materials which I bought and installed in all (3) three kitchens. The next day I tried to reach him again, but I couldn't. He wrote me a text that he was after the surgery his partner will get in touch with me. On the next day someone wrote me, I suppose it was [Member Name Removed] that she have received my receipt for materials I bought from the tenants and that she had no time to inspect our work yet. On November 21 Mrs [Member Name Removed] texted me again and stated that she is satisfied with our work and she will be sending a check to me and with looking forward to having us do some work in a future. As a result, I received a check $ 88 for materials I bought. I tried to contact [Representative Name Removed] via sms and via phone to resolve why it is discrepancy in payment but got not response. We performed quality work that [Representative Name Removed]'s partner [Member Name Removed] herself have confirmed that everything is satisfactory. Lately when I tried again to reach out to [Representative Name Removed] from my office phone and when he heard my voice he accidentally started to say that something wrong with a phone and he couldn't hear anything, and when I called again nobody answer. Total men hours spend on a project: 70 Hours. We are trying our best to satisfy every customer but when ones taking advantage of such treatment is just unfair. Thank You, Andrew Kolesnyk

It was a Manhattan job so always a difficulty do to the rules, regulations and the dust. Andrew, the project lead was super responsive and sent me numerous pictures throughout the process. And if I had questions,, he was always super responsive. The team was great, super polite, but friendly and hard working. My walls are like a baby's bottom they are so smooth. And they did a really good job cleaning up the dust at the end of the day. They were perfectionists in a good way because the place looks great. They even helped with the color - they suggested an alternate one to what I had initially picked and they were right. Have gotten lots of complements on the new color. I am super super happy!! I'm keeping their number so I can get them to do more stuff next year! I highly recommended them and have already passed their name to a few people in the building. And another thing, the price was great for everything I had done. They were able to do more than I had initially planned.
Description of Work: The team painted my entire apartment including the ceilings, walls, floorboards; took down old molding and added new nicer crown molding. They also gave me a new ceiling in the bathroom and kitchen. Plus they added new lights and fixed a few other smaller things like painted the radiator and recaulked the bathroom tub.

We love, love, love our kitchen remodel!!!! The project went on schedule and within the financial expectations we had budgeted. Victor was extremely quick and resourceful in getting all the necessary paperwork and permits to get the projext started without delays. He was also forthright with all expenses so there were not any surprises. His partner Andrew was the project manager onsite that took care of the daily schedule, managed the crew and all details from start to finish. At times he was sending me photos of difference finishes, faucets and cabinet hardware to my phone to approve on the spot. He keep in the loop with every detail as much as I wanted to be involved or not. The project was completed within 5 days minus waiting for a back ordered appliance which I had selected. I would work with them again and recommend them to anyone looking to go forward with a kitchen remodel especially in Manhattan! Their professionalism, workmanship and punctuality made the whole process enjoyable!

Victor was very professional and could not have been nicer. He never assumed as to what or how something should be hung or nailed. He always asked and then skillfully went about completing the task.

My Big Deal wound up costing me $6,000 and it hurts. That was for 40 hours worth of work. Amanda has reached out to me several times and I was actually in the process of writing her a letter explaining what the experience was like, why I felt that I needed to get the job done very quickly, and the final price. I think they did a good job but I was in a very vulnerable position. The floor to my kitchen was really giving away from flooding and I originally had it repaired with Sandy about 2 years ago. What happened was that because I have an outside dry well, the water under the ground eroded the floor. I dealt with 2 vendors from Angie's List just to get the floor fixed and then I was going to fix the kitchen proper again because I am paying for this twice now. What was happening was when I walk on the floor, I would literally sink down. The plywood was wet from water. It was waterlogged and I was afraid because of the entrance to the bathroom, and my mother had to walk there. I was really pressed to get the repairs done as soon as possible. When I initially called and he gave me the estimate, a red flag went up and I called Angie's List and said to give me another contractor. The contractor that I was given said that he did not want to be part of the Big Deal and so we went around trying to find another contractor. I didn't have much luck so I went with this guy. He originally priced it at $3,000 and then towards the end, he said I can have this with this amount and it will be fine, but then if I don't want him to come back in 2 years' time, he told me he had to do this and it would cost me $1500. I felt like I was really under the gun so I said I would pay for the $1500. What I thought was the deal for $1,500 it is now $6,000 which I was not bargaining for at all. He thought it would take 5 days and I took 5 days off from my job and it turned out that he actually completed the job in 2 1/2 days. The first day he had one guy, the second day he had 2 guys, and the third day he had 2 guys. It took the cement to dry so for the second day, he only worked half a day. I felt like the fees were very inflated. He charged me $1,000 just to excavate the stuff. Everything was like doubled, it appeared to me that way, but I felt like I was under the gun and I really didn't have too much of a choice in terms of how to go with it. I couldn't find another contractor. He seemed to know what he was doing and understood the work. It seemed like they did a good job. I am not experiencing any problem, but the only thing that would determine that now would be rain, but I think the main problem had already been solved which was that trench drain that he had to build in the backyard to stop the flooding from coming into the house. The price went up. It was very expensive. I don't think he came in with the intention of the deal. The contract was he deducted it from the price of whatever. It was a $3,000 job that we have to pay and then he will deduct $1500. It was a weird kind of contract. It would be interesting to see how other people have experienced him because I've looked and I've seen that he has done more than one deal. They were punctual.

I was so happy after Victor and his coworker completed the job. They worked quickly, neatly and efficiently. The process was seamless from beginning to end. Both Victor and his coworker were respectful, professional and very nice. I even asked Victor for quotes on bigger jobs while he was there. I am so happy and relieved I found Victor because everyone kept telling me how hard it was to find a good contractor who is reliable and reasonably priced. I will definitely use Victor again and would highly recommend him.
Description of Work: I recently purchased my first apartment in NYC and I discovered there were a few cabinets in the "beautifully" designed kitchen that had no backs. The walls served as the back of the cabinets but the there were holes in two of those walls that could allow God knows what to come in and out. Victor and his coworker covered these holes with symmetrical metal pieces. He even made a little door out of the same material so I could get to the pipes if I needed to.

Thank you Viktor and Andrew for making my bathroom renovation such a wonderful experience. Build Now NYC is absolutely top quality. Their team is extremely respectful, clean and hardworking. You can tell that they take pride in what they do from the beginning. I really appreciated that when they found opportunities to enhance my bathroom, they notified me and took on the additional work. An example of this was when they found abandoned ductwork above my bathroom ceiling that I had no idea was abandoned. Thanks to their discovery, we were able to raise the ceiling by over a foot. This only added additional work for them but they did it anyway and never requested additional money. You can tell that they really want to do the best job possible. They are committed to quality and to a happy client. I have already recommended them to friends and will definitely use them again in the future when I renovate my kitchen.

Victor was very polite and professional. He readily changed the date of service as requested due to inclement weather, and phoned me on the rescheduled day to inform me he would be a few minutes late due to being stuck in traffic. He inspected the work to be done, and left his worker, Yuri, to do the painting job. Yuri was a very dedicated and methodical worker, and adequately cleaned up after completing his tasks. I would definitely use this service again and would recommend it to friends.

When he called me I asked if I needed to get supplies so that the work could be done in one solid 6 hour block. He said no. I told him what I wanted done and he assured me that it would be no problem to do the 4 tasks in the six hour period. We set up an appointment and he arrive late with another worker. He had to go out to get the supplies needed. I provided the bead board which needed to be cut and pieced into place. He said that they would do some of the work and then come back to finish as the compound would need to dry. He left the other worker to finish the actual work after he got the needed supplies. The worker did not speak nor understand English. He used wood screws to (which showed) to replace the bead board. He placed the two pieces to be used with the lines going in different directions. He applied the tape and the compounding to the ceiling but only did one of the two areas that needed repair. He left a mess. When I asked him to do the second spot, he said he didn't speak English and left. I called the owner and asked when they would be back to finish. We scheduled a time and I went out and bought a new sheet of bead board to replace the whole panel. The day of the second appointment, they did not show up. I called and the owner apologized for the mix up. We rescheduled. This time they were only a little late. Once again he brought another worker with him. This time the young man did speak English. He pulled out the old repair and replaced it with the new bead board. He installed the shower head and put silicone on the cracked grout. They still used wood screws, however, this time placed them where they would be less evident. The young man sanded the compounded area on the ceiling and painted the bead board. When I pointed out that the other section needed to be repaired, he said he agreed but that he had a class to go to and did not have the time to finish that task not to paint the area of the ceiling that had been repaired. When I called the owner back to ask when we could schedule a return visit, he said that he would only paint the area already sanded and not touch the other area. We disagreed on whether that met our agreement and we set up a final date to finish. He never confirmed the date. Unfortunately, I had an emergency which took me away from home that morning and missed the last appointment. I apologized to him for any inconvenience and asked if we could reschedule. I have not heard back from him since.
Description of Work: The deal was to provide 6 hours of contractor services for $199. Provider replaced and painted bead board panel in the bathroom. Installed a new shower head. Applied silicone to a small crack in the grout in the bathroom shower. Taped and applied compound and sanded one of two small areas in the bathroom ceiling which needed to be repaired.

He still has to return for minor things like the washroom door to replace, but he has won my trust and confidence in a job well done. We managed to work around my busy schedule and he did what he said he was going to do.He responded to my texts and provided me with the opportunity to voice any concerns I might have had (which were few) I will use him in the future.
Description of Work: Provided a checklist of maintenance, which included straightening steps, embedding wires behind the wall of the living room, painting the deck, helping to remove furniture, repainting the wall after finishing, and aiding the designer with placement of shelves. This was done in a short period of time. I also needed a shower door change due to my elderly mother, and he recommended a sub contractor who replaced the sliding door with a solid sheet of glass.

They did all we discussed, and a little more. When I switched colors in the bedroom, only because I hated the color, they repainted it at no extra charge.
