I drained the pool because it already had over 2000ppm in hardness and it badly needed cleaning anyway, especially because it was already turning a little green after we came home from our 3-week vacation. While draining it, I also tried to clean the calcium deposits. Meanwhile, my husband was arguing with me that it needs an acid wash, because he read in a book and he also heard from a coworker who used to do pools before that it needs an acid wash every 3-5 years. I kept telling him that the plaster is already very very thin and is already coming apart on the steps and other areas, and what we need is to have the plaster redone but we can't afford it yet so we'd have to wait for next year. He wouldn't believe me, and we kept on arguing until the pool was fully drained 2 nights later. I texted Brian in the very early morning (6:20AM) of May 16, telling him that I already drained our pool and that my husband thinks that it needs an acid wash. I asked if when is his soonest time available, since it's already drained and all he has to do is acid wash it, and I'll take care of the refilling and starting it up with chemicals again, so it wouldn't be so much trouble for him even if he is very busy. He was indeed busy, and I said that he need not bother and I was actually decided to just fill up the pool again anyway without doing an acid wash, and I just called because my husband was pressuring me. He said that he'd make time for me, and gave me a quote of $250 just to acid wash it and I'll take care of everything else. He also gave me a referral for the sand blasting which I also asked about, and we came up with an estimate of how much it would cost with his friend. He said that he'd come after lunch the next day, although he has two or three acid washes that same day. It turned out that the other pool that he had to acid wash that day was still not empty after 18 hours of draining it, so he called me early the next morning and told me that he could come earlier. It was good that he came early because my husband just came home from work and wasn't sleeping yet, so my husband was there to witness and hear what he had to say. Although he and his worker came with the chemicals and equipment needed to acid wash the pool, he decided against it after seeing the status of our pool. He was very honest and confirmed my diagnosis that the plaster was too thin and an acid wash no matter how light it is, would only make it worse, and it wouldn't even take out all the stains, including the green and bluish stuff that we could see, because those are actually already the gunite, which is the lining under the plaster, further confirming how thin it already is. He explained things some more to me and my husband, and he was very nice the whole time. I am very happy with Brian, as he is very professional and honest. To thank him for his honesty, and for his gas and the trouble in coming over to our place, I went to look for some cash to give him. Unfortunately, I only had $20, so that's what I gave him, and I thought I'd give him a good review because that is more valuable than whatever little money I could give. Thank you again, Brian! And when I am earning more and could afford someone to take care of our pool altogether, you'd be the guy. Right now, I'll have to do everything I can do myself, until I am earning enough to pay someone, or when I'm too busy with my work to attend to it. :-)Kezia

Brian Canfield is a great business man. He pays attention to details, is professional and very dependable (Deep End Able). He is available and always returns phone calls promptly. He has never failed to meet my pool needs. How many companies can you say that about in this day and age. Having Brian and Jeremy take care of my pool this past year has given me a great peace of mind. My pool looks clear, clean and blue. I took care of the pool myself for over 30 years and I can honesly say it never consistently looked as good as it does now. I am a 65 year old retired secretary.

Had a noon appointment for May 21st. He called and asked if he could come early. He arrived 10-15 minutes later. I showed him the problem, which was a crack in my pool filtering sytems, and as it were he had a Penair Filtering tank on his truck that he was going to install at another residence. He asked if I wanted this one. I said yes and 15 minutes later the old tank was out and the new one installed. Pool is now working great.

Excellent from estimate to completion; about 1 week. I have retained the company for weekly maintenance. Will use again.

Brian also recommended further work and suggested a reliable contractor. He followed up with a phone call to check to see if there were any problems. Great service!!

Brian installed a new energy pool pump. This is the second time using Brian for our pool needs. He is very professional and knowledgeable. After the power company came out to calibrate the pump, the pool cleaner was not working properly. He came back out to repair the unit that the pool supply company said should be working properly.

Brian responded promptly, reviewed the situation and gave me an estimate of the repair cost. We scheduled an appointment for the actual repair work. He returned the next day as scheduled and completed the work promptly and efficently.

I use them once a month. He washes the filters, puts the chemicals in and cleans the pool. The only thing that is extra is if a part breaks down. The labor cost is minimal as well. I will continue to use him.

We purchased a home in Las Vegas last year and are new to the area and have relied heavily on Angie's List to find the contractors to ready our home for the long distance move. Following the home inspection, we needed to have the pool and the pool tile cleaned and the water drained and new chemicals added, etc. They did an outstanding job!!! They came out, assessed what needed to be done, gave us a very fair price, and we were very pleased with the finished product, very impressed with their professionalism and willingness to help us and I look forward to working with them in the long term. We had them add us to their weekly pool maintenance schedule. They are on our "Home Contractors" list--permanently!!!!!

I pay by the month, and he comes every week. I have been using him for about 1 year, and he's been really great. I found him on Angie's List. When I first called him, I was having a problem with my pool, he came out the same day. He fixed it, and didn't charge too much. Since then, we have been using him every week. He usually comes early before I'm up. If there are any problems he lets me know about it. I've had no problems. It's been all good.

My pool was a swamp. The former owners of the house I had just bought had never drained the pool, ever. Then my dogs decided to dig up my yard and most of the dirt ended up in the pool. When algae came with spring, the pool looked like a lost cause. I had called several different services and all of them told me they couldn't help me. When I called Brian he came over -that day- to look at my disaster. He explained the entire procedure of draining the pool, cleaning filters, acid washing etc. Then when he did the service he did everything he said he would, vacuumed up the dirt at the very bottom and hand scrubbed the whole pool! My pool looks brand new! It's awesome. I even got a new chlorinator ducky out of the deal! I would recommend him to anyone who asked me about pools :D

We were very pleased with the entire process. Brian was very personable, professional, and answered all our questions.

I phoned Brian for an estimate and he promptly replied to give me an estimate for draining and acid washing the pool. He gathered information from me by asking questions and he answered my questions as well. He educated me about somethings I didn't know about the condition of the pool and while I wasn't prepared to hear what he was saying, I am grateful because I can prepare for what needs to be done in the future. When I was ready to have the work done, Brian put me on his schedule. When the pool had been drained and the condition of the plaster revealed, he suggested I call the pool plastering company that did the initial work on the pool, to come take a look, before he did the acid wash, etc. Doing so meant Brian's work on the pool would have to wait. He was flexible in waiting to complete his work. He was prompt, helpful and friendly. I hadn't had another pool cleaner to the house for an estimate, but had asked at a couple of pool supply stores what I could expect to pay for an acid wash, and Brian charged less then what had been suggested to me at the stores. I will definitely call him to do more work in the future.

The short version: Brian showed up when he said he would, did what he said he would do, for the price he said he would charge. The rest of the story: Brian did a great job on my pool. Considering the age of the pool and the need for a new plaster job, the results were better than I expected. I had planned to replace my old pool sweep and asked Brian about the one he recommends. No high pressure sales pitch, just the information I had asked for. He also refered me to several reliable contractors I'll use when I'm ready to replaster. He helped me to understand pool chemistry and gave me some suggestions that will save me both time and money in the future. It's easy to see why Brian gets such good reviews on Angie's List.

I like him and he is all right. What we did was we eliminated the maintenance feature and only will do it with chemicals. I bought a self cleaner that goes around by itself. I like Brian's a lot and he shows up every Tuesday. They are all pretty good there. He just does the chemicals and he doesn’t do the cleaning of the pool. He doesn’t do the vacuuming and the net. He only checks my chemical levels and I don’t even know if I am supposed to have him check every week. He asked me to and so I did. I wouldn’t know, I don’t know the quality of my chemicals is in the pool. He has issues with calls and he doesn’t return calls and he says I am really bad in returning calls. He was prompt and he was definitely on time. Once we made the arrangements he was on time. He is scheduled every Tuesday and the guy comes and checks the chemicals of the pool and he sends the kid out.

Brian started on thursday,by beginning the draining of the pool,returning on friday with a crew to grind and media blast the mineral deposits,after which starting to refill the pool, becoming completly filled late saturday afternoon,returned sunday morning to add chemicals,collect his equiptment,clean up and finalize the services.

I found Brian on Angie's list in anticipation of needing service for a pool in a home that we had not yet closed on. I conversed with Brian over several weeks prior to closing and arriving in Las Vegas. He was very prompt in replying and explained things well. He trys to get your pool set up with better equipment so that it can be maintained better. The only thing I would suggest is that he hold judgement on the condition of the pool (for estimation purposes) at least until it's empty. We already realized that because of all the gunk that was sitting that it was impossible to see to the bottom and predict the condition but, since he's the professional we thought maybe he had a better sense of it than we did and could predict somehow. It turned out we had to pay slightly more than was quoted, but we understood. Also, it would be nice if he accepted credit cards since those jobs can be costly and I personally don't carry around that much cash and normally don't use checks. Being from out of town, I couldn't just go to my bank and withdraw the money nor could I get that amount from the ATM so that was a bit of a hassle. Brian and his co-worker were very nice. He doesn't service the area where our house is on a weekly basis so, we'll have to find someone who does. It would have been nice to have him for weekly service since we've met him and used his services already. He did refer us to other people who service the area and to a person who can check and service the solar heater for us as well. He was very nice to send pictures of the finished product as we were out of town for the final part of the process.

They were excellent. They did a good job on their work. I would refer them to friends and family.

We just moved in to our new home and it's got an old pool. Brian came over to check it up and gave us his opinion and recommendations. We got a suction-side pool sweep from him with the leaf canister and he also replaced the filter cartridges for the pool filter. Both sets of items were so much cheaper with him than anywhere online and on any store. He also gave us a lot of free advice (including our solar equipment which was leaking) and checked & fixed our water chemistry when he was here. It's winter though, and we haven't fully decided on what to do with things as we are even considering replacing the whole water system to one that doesn't need chemicals, so we refused the cheap monthly chemical service (as I might just do it ourselves) and did not even repair the pop-up system at all because with the pool sweep it's not really that necessary anymore. We had a little trouble with our old pool system, so when I called him up the next day because the pool sweep stopped working and I couldn't figure out what was wrong, he came out the day after next to check it out. It turned out that there was just something stuck in the gears because we had too much dirt in the pool the other day from the lawn clean-up. He also explained how easy it is to troubleshoot the sweep, and how simple it is compared to most other brands.Brian's been great and very helpful, and we might have to call him again in a few months for other services. I wish he could help us with other things though, like the solar and the deck, but he says that he will just recommend another Angie's List provider for those services. As for The Pool Cleaner, it's easy to fix and it looks like it could last longer than most other mechanisms, but I'm not completely satisfied on how it's doing, because it's not cleaning up everything. I don't have much experience with different brands though, except with those I see in friends' pools, but my husband says that it's doing good and that the dirt on the bottom could just be stain (although I didn't remember them being there before the yard cleanup) and we still need to brush them one way or another. -Kezia

They were very responsive to my call and came out on a Sunday. They offered two options for repairs, each with a separate price point. The technician recommended the less expensive option, so I decided to go with that. His repair work resolved the issue, and I was definitely satisfied with their service.
