 + -1 moreI had initially taken my laptop to another Angie's List provider (service provider name removed), LLC which I will NEVER use again.). I told Bojan at TLC Computer Solutions my initial problem was my laptop was not powering up. Bojan was very knowledgeable & professional. I got to watch him interact with other customers that were ahead of me & I was very impressed with his knowledge & patience with each customer. At no charge, He ran a diagnostic on my laptop & determined I needed a motherboard (which (service provider name removed) indicated may be the problem on their work order). Bojan also did a cost estimate of the NOW needed repairs to the casing of my laptop due to negligence of the first provider. It turns out that the cost to repair, now exceeds the cost to buy a brand new Dell Laptop. I will be purchasing a new laptop from TLC Computer Solutions. Photos below show the condition of my laptop when I picked it up from (service provider name removed). They state I brought it in like this even tho my work order from them shows no damage to my laptop.

 + -1 moreUpon arriving at the store we were quickly greeted, and the reason for our visit documented. As the technician entered our information the owner came over to greet us, and reassure us his technicians would do everything they could to rescure the data. In just three days they called that all the data had been recovered, and they had successfully transferred all of it to another hard drive. The sold us a new hard drive that was far better for our purposes, and was very reasonably priced. The owner worked very hard to keep our costs at our under $300 and succeeded. When we picked up the failed hard drive and new hard drive the owner provided a short tutorial on how to access our data on the new hard drive. He also said they would save our data for 90 days on their system so any problems we might experienced with the new hard drive or accessing the data would not result in non-recoverable data. It was a great and welcome experience as this hard drive was our back-up hard drive and almost nothing was backed up anywhere else.
Description of Work: Recovered ALL the data from a damaged hard drive, and transferred it to a new hard drive they provided.

 + -1 moreWe took the laptop in, told them what we wanted, and they quoted us $90. They called two days later to comfirm what work we wanted/needed done and suggested a different security software program that would cause the laptop to not be bogged down as much. We agreed to what they suggested and picked up the lap a few days later. They are professional, pleasant to deal with and provide honest answers to questions posed. Would I recommend them - YOU BET!!! They did not take me to the cleaners (price wise), and presented diferent solutions.
Description of Work: Fix the laptop and install a different security software program that did not slow down the computer as the previous security software did.

 + -1 moreJohn took the computer with him on Thursday, August 15, 2013 and was able to pick up my computer on Saturday, August 17, 2013. The service provided is excellent and the staff is very knowledgeable. All my documents and pictures were recovered and I was able to use my printer with computer. All in all I am very happy. Keep up the great work.
Description of Work: My Dell computer is 3 years old and hard drive died. The hard drive was probably going bad for sometime but I kept thinking it was a compatibility issues. I called TLC and John came out and diagnosed the hard drive problem. He stated that he can save all my personal pictures and documents by loading onto another computer then installing new hard drive then putting back my personal documents etc.

 + -1 moreWhat do you do when your external 500 GB HD with 40+ years of family pix and data takes a dump? I found TLC Computer Solutions who totally recovered my data. They also assisted me (at my request) to purchase a 1TB HD and they transferred my data w/o any loss whatsoever. The new HD I purchased was brought home and I immediately did a plug and play and I'm a happy customer. I can commend John and his staff for being knowledgeable and professional. I do recommend them and will give them repeat business

 + -1 moreWe spoke with John initially and we determined that trying to fix our problems via the phone would be the most viable means of providing service. He was able to diagnose our problems and fix them most efficiently. He was a pleasure to work with - patient, knowledgeable and quick.
Description of Work: John, who was an excellent and most knowledgeable technican, fixed our computer via the phone. We were having trouble receiving and sending emails and our printer was not working. He was able to fix both problems by talking us through certain commands via the phone. It was efficient, time-saving (since we live some considerable distance from this company) and money-saving. We could not have been more satisfied with the service provided.

Description of Work: I bought a new laptop Window 8 which was not compatible with the HP 8500 printer that I already had. I spent hours on the phone with HP in India trying to get the new printer to work, all to no avail. After wasting all this time with HP tech he told me I would have to get a new printer, which I did. I tried to install the new printer, but nothing I did worked. Rather than spending another couple of hours with HP, and the fear of pulling all my hair out in utter frustration, I looked on Angie's list and saw that "TLC Computer Solutions" had received wonderful reviews from happy customers. I called John and he was here a few hours later and connected my printer. John was very knowledgeable and professional. I was very happy with his services and will use him in the future. It's such a pleasure to deal with someone that really knows what they are doing! Thanks John, I'm a happy customer.

 + -1 moreMy Sony VAIO was spontaneously shutting off. I contacted TLC by phone and found them friendly. They invited me to drop by that day which worked well for me because they were close to my home and I was in the middle of a project. I received a phone call within a few hours with an estimate to repair my power jack connection for $120. My computer was 6 years old but I wasn't sure it would be worth repairing. John explained that I had a quality product that could not only be repaired but also made more efficient for less than the cost of a new computer of comparable design. He then quoted me an additional $150 worth of services to restore my computer to new. John also guaranteed that if I was not happy with what he had done, he would take my computer and credit me the $270 towards a new machine. I love what TLC has done for me! My computer is cleaned up and working more efficiently than ever. The downside is that some data was lost in the process. The shop was extremely busy but I had a firm deadline when I needed the computer returned and they met it for me. I recommend this computer shop and would use them again.

As a bonus, he also told me how to reduce my monthly charge for AOL from an outrageous $18/month to zero with no decline in service, so in a few months I actually will have made money on his service call. He was very knowledgeable, professional, and pleasant, and while I would prefer never to be forced to require his services again, if I ever do need that kind of help again, there is no question but that I will call John. I have already given TLC's phone number to several of my friends, which I guess is the highest form of recommendation.
Description of Work: Found TLC on Angie's List. I phoned and described the problem to co-owner John (a virus had locked my desktop computer and was basically holding it for a $200 ransom--supposed to go to Walgreen to pay and get a release key). John said it was almost certainly a virus that had gotten into my Start folder. He said he could come over to my house in a few hours and that the cleansing would take about an hour. His charge is $79 an hour and so he estimated that the cost for the job would be between $79 and $100. He did come right on time and spent about an hour on the computer. He identified and removed the virus and then downloaded some free anti-malware software that he recommends.

 + -1 moreEven though this computer repair shop is on the very opposite site of the LV valley, I will go back to them for any future computer repairs that I need. I love these guys!
Description of Work: I had an older computer that completely quit working--I replaced it, but decided I would check it out and see how much it would be to fix it. This company was highly rated on Angie's List, plus they advertised a free diagnostic. A place in my neighborhood where I inquired first said they would charge me $60.00 to do a diagnostic, and then if I got it fixed, they would deduct the $60.00, but they were very unprofessional and I felt like they didn't care if they had my business. So I decided to go where I could get a free diagnosis whether or not I fixed the computer. I left my computer there for the diagnostic from TLC, and they called me the same day to let me know that the computer just needed a new power source and that would cost me $30 for the part and $35 for labor. That sounded great to me, and the next day they called me to tell me it was ready. They also did most of the Windows upgrades for me, that had taken place while the computer was out of commission. These are really great people, very professional and very responsive to exactly what I said I needed. They didn't try to sell me anything else, just did exactly as I requested.

 + -1 moreMy computer just didn't work; turned it on and nothing happened (there had been power problems in the area the previous night). I called TLC and spoke with John and explained the situation. He agreed to come out after he closed the store that evening. He was very professional, very knowledgeable, and very patient in answering all my questions. He diagnosed the problem and replaced the fan unit in the computer, which fixed the problem. He also cleaned up odds and ends on the computer (cookies, temp files, etc.) and helped me with computer security. The price was very reasonable. I will definitely call TLC again the next time my computer needs fixing.
