I cant see into the ducts and I have never had this done before. The price was good, which was an important thing to me. I am still getting stuff through the ducts when I am using the swamp cooler, but I'm not sure if they should have check that, so that is why I have listed N/A for quality. It is better now. They were careful when they did the work, but did leave stuff behind.

I was told they could not come back out to my house until the next week even tho they were just here 30mins before. After 30 years in our house, we decided it was time to replace the gas furnace, and upgrade our swamp cooler to refrigerated air. Our house had under-slab duct work, and during the spring and fall we had to constantly swap our dampers and adjust two different thermostats depending on whether we needed heating or cooling. We were somewhat anxious about having the job done, but from the very beginning, Daniel and all of his service providers gave us a comfortable feeling that they knew what they were doing - and they came in with a great price! Their work, which they explained is "custom" for every house they retrofit, was nothing short of amazing. Each one of the specialists, from sheet metal, to duct-work, to refrigeration, etc. were "craftsmen" who obviously took pride in their work, AND they spent the time necessary to do the job to perfection - a level of work that we had not seen for many years. Over the five days they spent doing the installation of the new Trane system with the CleanEffects whole-house cleaner, they explained everything they were doing, and also pointed out the unique challenges this particular installation gave them. The system is working wonderfully! It is really amazing this time of the year (fall) to have the heater on in the cool mornings, and the air conditioner in the warm afternoons, automatically. We are really looking forward to next summer when we can cool our house during the humid days of August and be comfortable. Many thanks and much appreciation to Daniel and all of his folks for a great job well done!

It was easy to schedule an appointment with them. The gentleman who did come to our home was very pleasant and he did a fine job. They never did follow through and provide us with a report on the inspection. I specifically requested that because were trying to analyze what we needed to do. I requested for them to either call, email, or mail it to me and I never heard back from them. We didn’t end up using them to repair the air ducts as we found a company that has a new type of liner than is much less in cost.

Their service was good. They showed up as scheduled, which is always good. I sometimes have trouble with that in my area. They usually show up in the two hour window they provide. I thought they would contact me to let me know that was expired.

Quality of work was fine, and the techs and customer service people were polite and friendly. I called several places during a cold snap, and Daniels was the only place able to respond quickly. While I was happy to have things fixed before the cold weather blew in, I find their pricing to be very high and uncompetitive. A service call is $100, which I find rather high. They insisted that replacing a 15 lbs motor was a 2 man job because they had to lift the sheet metal top of the unit. That is absurd - they didn't even lift the top off - and cost me an extra $100. They charged $60 'freight' fee for the motor, which was the size and weight of a full can of paint. I don't recall painters ever charging freight. Then, they tacked on an extra $30 "warranty and paperwork" fee that was not included in the original estimate. I feel that they padded the cost of the job by $200 between all the unnecessary labor and miscellaneous charges. I suggest that if your situation provides you the leeway, look for a better deal. I have hired several plumbing/HVAC companies in Albuquerque that do good work for much less. That said, at least the job seemed to be done right and sooner than anyone was available.

We are happy to hear that our technicians and customer service employees were friendly. It is also great that we were able to set an appointment quickly. Here at Daniels we try not to leave you out in the cold. We are sorry to hear that our pricing appeared high to our customer. The original estimate was what we charged the day of service, minus the 10% coupon the customer presented. We were trying to be accommodating by processing warrantied parts from another dealer. We do hope that our customer understands that. As always, we strive for 100% customer satisfaction and appreciate feedback.

The techs did a good job of getting us switched over for the winter and gave good advice on our current set-up as well as on our options for making improvements. They explained our options as far as a more efficient furnace as well as adding a more tech-friendly thermostat for operating a newer unit. We have not decided to upgrade at this point but when we do we will probably use this company for the work.
Description of Work: Tanner and Mike shut down the evaporative cooler for the winter and did a cleaning and start-up for the furnace. They also lit the pilot for the gas log fireplace. The gas log did not stay lit, but I can take care of that myself at a later date. I asked them to light it simply because they were already at the house anyway. They removed the blower motor and cleaned the vents so that it would work more efficiently. They also gave us some advice on using the humidifier for the furnace and on the possibilities for upgrading the furnace and adding refrigerated air in place of the evaporative cooler.

They are absolutely great. he checked everything and everything was actually frozen so he made provisions for it to thaw out and the next day he came as he had promised and determined that the problem we were having was that the previous owner of the house hadn't changed the air filter for over a year. So there was no air flow so the system was not working properly. They were very punctual, he explained to me everything that was going on, all the possibilities and he came prepared to replace the filter, he gave me a receipt, he gave me a discount. I was really pleased and I'm definitely going to use them again.

The woman that took my call was very cheerful and courteous and made my appointment promptly. Tanner showed up right on time and diagnosed the problem in about 10 minutes. The problem was isolated to the condenser motor which he had on his truck, and he had it replaced and cooling in about a half hour. He said he lives locally and would drop by if we had any further issues. All in all, a very positive experience.

I see this business has lots of great reviews on Angie's List. That's why I called them when my handyman didn't seem to know how to fix a tenant's swamp cooler. I looked at it, and the squirrel cage wasn't moving fast enough to push air through the apartment. It was because my old handyman had replaced the motor but not properly adjusted the pulley on the shaft. At the time we were having a serious heat wave and I wanted to take care of my tenant, so I thought I'd spend more than usual and just get it fixed as quickly as possible for my tenant. I called their office, and they sent their man out. He called me from the work site and told me the cooler needed to be replaced. "No," I told him, "the cooler is fine. The pulley just needs to be adjusted." He didn't seem to notice that the squirrel cage was running at 1/3 its normal speed. I suggested he look at the cooler next to it and see if he noticed a difference. I wondered if he had a clue what he was doing. After what seemed like half an hour on the phone, he finally seemed to get it. The next day I paid the bill. A day or two later my tenant called saying the cooler was blowing hot air. So I called Daniels, and they sent their man back out. It seems he had failed to properly put the panel back on the unit, which is on the roof by the way, and it had fallen off. A few days later my tenant calls again. The swamp cooler isn't working. So I call Daniels again. I'm told I will have to pay for another trip charge! "What?!" I say. (This is where being an Angie's List member pays off.) The girl finally backed off when I insisted I wasn't going to pay a second time for a job that hadn't been done the first time. Another day, another technician. This guy is very nice when he calls from the jobsite. He says that the bolt that the first guy had put on to tightened the belt had broken off, which he agreed to replace for free. He then told me the bearings needed replacing. "How much is that?" "Oh, we have a flat fee." "How much?" He gave me a price of $350, I believe. For the unaware, bearings cost about $4.50 a piece at Lowe's and a new swamp cooler this size goes for about $350. Seemed a bit high for a job a handyman can do in about 30 minutes. I said I?d have someone else do it. A few more days pass, and my tenant calls back. The swamp cooler isn't working. This time I drive over there myself, get up on the roof, to see is my tenant just nuts or what? Well the pulley that started the whole problem has broken apart, apparently because it was over tightened. At this point, I am done forever with Daniels Heating & Air Conditioning LLC. I called my handyman to fix the swamp cooler. Are the bearings bad? No. Why did the pulley fail? The threads on the screw were stripped off, presumably because it was over-tightened by Daniels. At least, that?s how it looks to me. So this is my question. How can this happen from a business with an Angie?s List Super Service Award? UPDATE: First, a little response to the Provider's comments. The truth is I told them when I called them exactly what the problem was, the "squirrel cage" was moving too slow because my (former) handyman at the end of last season had replaced the motor and not adjusted the pulley correctly. How do I know? Because I was on the roof looking at the unit just before calling Daniels. I didn't tell them how to fix the problem because I assumed they were professionals, but I told them exactly what the problem was. Their response suggests otherwise. Secondly, I left all three panels off because I thought someone would be out immediately, but it took them a day or two to get there. Now, what kind of a person would go up on a roof of a two story building to service a swamp cooler and find all three panels off and think all three just happened to fall off at the same time? (They were not that close to the unit anyway.) As far as duct tape being on the panels, that was because a handyman, while winterizing my units, had once tried to cover the pads with duct tape and plastic instead of a normal canvas cooler cover. To suggest to anyone that a swamp cooler can be held together with duct tape is ... well, it's the polar opposite of competence. Swamp cooler panels fit in groves and are held in place by gravity. The swamp cooler I called about also has clips that lock in place. Pads don't just fall off swamp coolers. Anyone ever wake up one morning and find that one of their cooler pads had fallen off during the night? Have you ever, at anytime in your life, seen one laying on the ground because it fell off? I sure hope the average Angie's List member has more common sense than that. As to the cooler being old, who has a brand new cooler? They typically last decades if properly serviced. Hopefully anyone living in Albuquerque knows that a swamp cooler is a box with a few moving parts, all of which are easily replaceable. Unless the box has rusted out, there is no reason anyone would replace it, and by their own admission that wasn't the problem here. The box wasn't leaking. Why would their tech suggest replacing the unit if it wasn't necessary? As far as the cooler having multiple problems, that simple isn't true. It had one problem, which they didn't fix, but my (new) handyman did after I gave up on Daniels. But there were multiple "problems" their techs kept throwing at me, "problems" that if I wasn't a landlord with a little common sense would have cost me money I didn't need to spend. One example was the $350 bearing replacement that wasn't necessary. If they replaced the pulley, as their comment says, then why did my handyman have to replace it again 3 days later? Why was it old looking? Why were the threads on the pulley bolt stripped? I can't comment on how much experience their technicians have. All I can do is report the facts, and the facts speak for themselves. To their credit, Daniels did contact me after reading my initial review and offer to refund the money I paid them, which I think says something positive about them. I came back to my review to report that and discovered their comments. I can't let other Angie's List members not know the truth, but part of that is that if you are an Angie's List member they do care what you write in your review. I wish I could say that about every contractor I deal with.

We were at this property for a swamp cooler, no cool call. Panels were already off and had duct taped attached to them. The swamp cooler was old with multiple problems. Tech recommended that the unit be replaced due to multiple issues, the property owner did not want to replace the unit. We did everything we could to get the swamp cooler running, we adjusted the pulley and reattached the panels on the first visit. During our return visits, at no charge to the customer, we replaced the pulley and had to re-bolt the motor due to bolts broken due to age and condition. Customer would not or did not want to accept any of our recommendations. Cooler absolutely needed every repair a cooler could have needed and / or needed replacing. Daniels Heating and Air Conditioning strives for 100% customer satisfaction. We have senior techs with over 20 years experience and value our customers very much. We are very sorry for the outcome of this call. We take every customer review and comment very seriously.

Daniel was prompt and thorough when he came to give me an estimate. The estimate form contains a detailed list of the services they will perform; he checks them off so it's easy to see exactly what will be done. The form is also specific about the warranty, e.g. 10 year parts, 2 year labor, 10 year compressor, 1 year service. It also states they offer a 365 day money back guarantee. He included the model numbers of the outdoor unit and coil, which made it easy for me to research the units. It's unusual for people to handwrite forms these days, but it enabled me to get my estimate before he left my house. Every other AC company sent me an electronic form via email, which took anywhere from 2 days (best case) to 2 weeks (worst case). The installation was expected to take 1-1/2 days. On the day they came to install the unit, they were scheduled to arrive between 9-9:30 AM. The two technicians arrived promptly at 9 AM. My old unit was R22 (freon), the new unit is R-410A (Pureon). The new coil is taller than the old one, so my heating system had to be removed and the new coil could be installed. Because the new coil is taller than the old one, the ductwork at the top had to be replaced. They were careful in removing my existing system so there was no damage to the unit or to my house. They cleaned up old wiring, including where a piece of a heavy duty extension cord had been used as wiring. They had a heavy duty lift that easily placed the new unit on the roof. They set the unit on a pair of 4x4s, so it doesn't contact the roof and create noise from vibration. They completed 80% of the work the first day. The second day, they returned to finish the electrical hookups, run the coolant lines, and install a new programmable thermostat. They were efficient and professional, and the new installation is neat. Their customer service is excellent. A couple days after they finished installing the unit, they sent a technician out to test the system and to review its operation with me, before they asked me for final payment. I had a lot of questions about the system and the new thermostat, and he answered them all. The heating unit had started making noise at the end of the winter, and it was making the same noise when the air conditioning ran. I asked him if he had any idea what could be making the noise, expecting him to tell me my heater needed some type of repair. He said that type of noise was usually ductwork vibrating against something. The sound was coming from one of the cold air return. He started unscrew the cover, and the noise stopped. In other words, he solved my problem and it didn't cost a cent! One other thing they did impressed me. On the side of the house where the unit is installed, I have a wrought iron gate. The top hinge had pulled loose from the wall, and the gate was dragging the ground. When they came back the second day, they repaired the gate. They didn't have to do that, and they didn't charge me for it. It works better than it did before, and I appreciate it.
Description of Work: Installed new refrigerated air unit and coil. Replaced thermostat, created new filter rack. Relocated outside unit from grade to roof. Installed new coolant lines, electrical circuit and cutoff.

The repair technician, Melvin, arrived at the designated time. He was very polite and able to communicate technical information regarding my refrigerated air unit very well. He performed all maintenance and repair tasks in an efficient and timely fashion. This is a well-established, small business, owner run company -- they have built a strong client base and are well thought of among their customers. I learned about this business on Angies' List, but was also pleased to discover some of the people I work with have used Daniels as well. I was impressed and will be happy to use their services again.

They were great. They cleaned up very well after they finished. They were prompt and explained everything. That was very helpful. We have used them again since then.

Workmen showed up promptly. They were polite and professional. They did their work quickly and thoroughly. Both workmen were knowledgeable and told me exactly what they needed to do and why. They left no mess, and they were even nice to the dogs. The price they charged was less that half of the estimate I got from the company recommended by Costco, and they provided more services. Could not ask for better. USE THIS COMPANY!
Description of Work: Cleaned and serviced refrigeration unit for the summer, cleaned air ducts, paid for servicing heating unit in the fall.

The price for the job was very competitive and I was extremely satisfied with the results. Daniel went out of his way and handled some issues that came up during the install without any hesitation. I recently had them back to run new water lines to 2 smaller swamp coolers on my property. There was a billing mistake that Michelle handles once it was brought to her attention and again I am very satisfied with this company and highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Replaced a large swamp cooler by adding a new refrigerated AC and heating unit to my home and also cleaned out the ducts.

They arrived at theschedule time for both the estimate and also to perform the work. They had experienced people in each of the areas. Electrical, plumming and heating. It took about half a day, but the work was professional and they cleaned up after the work was completed. After the work was complete, we had a problem with hammering when the water valve would open and close on the unit. They tried coiling the copper water line, which helped some. Finally they procured an air device from the manificture and installed it. This stopped the noise completely. They were also going to install a sump pump on the system to help remove the water when the unit drained. I told them that I did not want it since the draining was all down hill. Could not see paying for something I did not need. Also thought the hammering issue should have been addressed before I had to call and have them come back. Overall they were very responsive and worked with me on correcting the issues.
Description of Work: We had a whole house humidifire system connected to our heating system. They installed the unit, ran a new power drop, installed a drain, outside temperature sensor and wired the sysem to provide humidity to the house and run the fan when heat was not called for.
