Many problems from start to finish: 1) POOR COMMUNICATION - We were replacing the existing several year old Sycamore trees with (4) brand new Chanticleer Pear trees. We paid alot extra to get large caliper trees so they matched the large size of the other trees in the neighborhood,. which were already several years old. We specifically told Josephs that we wanted all four trees to be the same size, as these were curbside trees lines up within 20 feet of each other in a line. Without getting my approval first, they ignored my request and installed 3 of one size and a small one. I came home, saw it, and confronted them. As if there is only one tree nursery in the region, I was told the nursery did not have 4 of the same size. I was not happy. The trees were already installed and they told me they couldnt find 4 of the same size. I expressed my confusion as to why they didn't tell me this PRIOR to installaing the trees, as maybe I would rather have chosen a different tree than have trees of different sizes, Not that big of a deal. But it was annoying. 2) POOR WORKMANSHIP - Josephs installed a 12ft landing at the base of the stoop. So, the landing would have to meet the stoop on one end and the steps leading down to the sidewalk on the other end. As I passed the front of the house as I came home from work, I noticed that the landing was not flat. It was as though they came out halfway, then realized they were not going to meet the steps and pitched sharply, RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LANDING. It looked ridiculous. It was hard to imagine that they though I wasn't going to notice it. Anyway, I confronted the foreman and told him they need to fix it. He looked at it and agreed it was not right and was going to fix it the next day. Came home the next day, same thing. Was a little flabbergasted. Told him once again that it wasn't going to fly. Finally the next day it was fixed. I was starting to get concerned about the quality of their work. There were no other issues and I was generally happy with the work they did. 3) POOR WORKMANSHIP - Fast forward 6 months, water started collecting at the base of the steps which led to the sidewalk. Basically, they never installed any drainage and water was just sitting on the pavers. The pavers became discolored and destroyed. It was unisghtly. I contacted Josephs about it and told them I wanted proper drainage put in and that I would be willing to pay for it if I had to (even though I already paid them 55k). A year later after countless attempts to get them to come out and install the drainage they should have installed in the first place, I still had a problem. I finally hired someone else to come out and do it. 4) AUDACITY - The sprinkler sensorwent defective within the one year warranty. My wife called them and they told her that the manufacturer didnt make that model any more and that it would cost $200 for a new one. I called them and told them they needed to replace it under warranty and it was up to them how they dealt with the manufacturer. They eventually did it, but here's the kicker. The rain sensor was on the roof. The installer used a ladder to get to it and somehow completely destroyed a weeping birch tree that I had bought from them at a cost of $500.00 The tree was literally split in half. Don't know how they did it, perhaps the ladder fell on it and they though I wouldn't notice. Anyway, in typical fashion, they were not helpful or responsive. Unfortunately, I could go on. I was not happy with these people at all. In fact, I even considered physical persuasion. Ultimately, I gained my composure and chalked it up to experience. Stay away from this company at all costs.
