Description of Work: The were on time and installed my whole house humidifying quickly. I asked why the humidify had to run if the furnace wasn't running... it seemed like a huge waste of water (hot water). The service man told me that my type of furnace did not support switching so that the humidify would only run when the blower was running... it was too old. | |Two months later I found another HVAC company who came in and set that up on my existing furnace with no new parts... It was workable.

They looked up in a particular area. They gave me a breakdown of exactly how much things would cost and also how fast it would be done. The estimate for the particular work was a little bit high. Once I got the estimate I called another company and got another estimate. Their estimate was actually lower. I ended up going with the other company. They also took a lesser time than what Friendly Electric Heating and Air had on offer. However, I would use them in the future if they give me an estimate that is better than someone else’s.

Response from Friendly Electric Heating & Air
Although price is always a concern, it should never be your sole reason for choosing a contractor. Our technicians are trained, background checked, uniformed, drug tested and participate in on-going training on a regular basis. I am confused by the remark concerning time as we were on site the same day the gentleman called and we were prepared with tools and materials to do the work that same day. We do not claim to be the cheapest contractor; however according to his remarks he would call on us again and possibly use us if we were in fact the cheapest bid at that time. To me, that says that the only thing that he cares about it price. We provide quality workmanship backed with a 3 year guarantee. As for the contractor who was in fact cheaper, "every man knows the quality and the value of his craftmanship and customer service." He rated us with one A and two B's but then did not give us any grades for both price and quality therefore dropping our rating to a C. It is disappointing that he did not see the value in our company or our service, but than again how could he if he was only concerned with price?

The visit seemed thorough. Two technicians showed up on time with ID, put on hospital style shoe coverings, and measured every inch of the 4500 sq. foot home and every door and window. They asked plenty of questions and were more thorough than the other two contractors who came out. They were there at least two hours, and one commented that I would use their quote (and some sort of blue print they said they were working up) to give to other contractors. Several follow up phone calls and several weeks later and I still don't have a quote from them. I've given up trying to call them to get a quote and I don't know why they so quickly lost interest in what is a large job.

Response from Friendly Electric Heating & Air
It is correct that two technicians were on site at the residence several weeks ago. Shortly afterwards a member of our team contacted the homeowner and explained that a second visit would need to be scheduled at the residence. The homeowner is only available on Fridays since this is not his primary residence. Our notes indicate that he was unsure of what time he would be at the residence and that he would contact us once he was sure. In the midst of this our lead comfort consultant had a family medical emergency and was away for several weeks which left us short handed during the busy season. We were under the impression that the homeowner had been contacted by a member of our team (along with several of our AC customers) to explain the delays. The lead comfort consultant returned to the office yesterday and attempted to contact the homeowner, but was only able to leave a message. Today I received notification of the poor review and immediately contacted the homeowner. I apologized for the confusion and the lack of follow up on our part. The homeowner commented that apparently he was successful (by posting this poor review) in getting our attention and therefore finally receiving a return call from our company. I explained the chain of events to him not as an excuse but as an explanation. I apologized for the poor follow up and miscommunication on our part, as it was unacceptable. I explained that he was correct in assuming that my telephone call today (as the manager) was a direct result of his review but I noted that our comfort consultant had left him a message the day before (prior to receiving the review) as this was the first day that he had returned to work. I noted this detail, because it was clear to me that due to the confusion, our actions or lack of actions had left the client feeling as though we did not value him as a client and this could not be farther from the truth. We value all of our clients and strive to provide the best customer service experience possible... clearly in this case we failed to accomplish that. Again I apologized to the homeowner & took full responsbility for the mishap. I stated that if he still would like for us to help him with the project that we could have a consultant to his home whenever was most convenient for him, at which point he stated that he felt it would be best if we did not work together. This matter will be discussed with our entire team and we will work to make adjustments to our procedures to ensure that this type of miscommunication does not happen again in the future.

Thank you for taking the time to rate our company. We appreciate the B rating but of course we would have preferred that it be an A. You rated us B for responsiveness and our records indicate that you contacted us on 4/15 and we were on site 4/16. If you had contacted us prior to 10 AM we would have been able to provide same day service. You rated us B for punctuality yet your remarks state that we were on time. As for our level of professionalisms we try very hard to provide the utmost in customer service from live customer service representatives, to courtesy "on the way calls", and email appointment confirmations with photographs and bios on technicians assigned to your call. As for your price objection, all of our pricing is quoted up front and in writing prior to any work being completed. It is important to note that several of your lighting fixtures became inoperable after the installation of an alarm system. Our technician needed to first troubleshoot and locate the source of the problem prior to being able to make the repair. It is unclear to me how any professional could quote a price to fix a problem without any knowledge of what was involved in locating the problem. I can only conclude that he was pricing you for half of the scope of work peformed which was the rewiring of the entrance way lighting fixture and not actually locating the source of the problem. That said, for this portion of the repair you were charged $197.18 as oppossed to his quote of $300. I hope that this information helps put your mind at ease. We truly do try to provide the best service possible and perhaps in the future you will allow us another opportunity to serve you better.

Overall, this was a nightmare experience. If you are considering using this company, please save yourself the headache. First of all, I was anxious to get started on the electrical work in our home and so the 1st project was to change to outlets. I hired them @ $38 an outlet, only to find out later that the going rate was in fact, $10-$20/outlet. The $38 an outlet was the "discounted price" after you buy the "friendly electric" service plan for the year. The technician Chris was professional, I will give him that. In total, my service plan and outlets cost me over a thousand dollars!!! Shame on me, I hired them again to install HDMI cable for our new LCD TV and home theater surround sound speakers. I will spare you ALL of the details, but in short $2500 later, our HT system still does not work, they never finished the job. The 2 technicians who did the wiring stated that the reason it would not work properly was due to a faulty receiver (which was brand new). We had the receiver diagnosed twice, revealing no defect in the equipment. We then changed out the cable box, thinking perhaps that was the problem...We then had to hire another contractor to complete the job, only to find that the HDMI cable that THEY installed is kinked, and was causing the whole problem. That needs to be completely replaced for another large sum of money.

We have spoken directly with the member & her alternate contractor that she chose to have address the home theater and the facts are as follows: We installed a flexible conduit hidden within the walls to accommodate any future addtions to the theater system. Our technicians spent several hours on the telephone with the technical support division of her home theater system & ran a series of tests which resulted in the manufacturer declaring that the receiver was malfunctioning. The new contractor determined that the wires (supplied by the homeowner purchased for use with her home theater system from an alternate source) were in fact not compatible with the system that was purchased. The new contractor stated that our installation was done in a professional manner and correctly. The only issue was the incorrect cable supplied by the homeowner. Due to our installation of the flexible conduit, this was a simple fix, merely installing the replacement cable with minimal effort required. We offered to assist with this matter, however she chose to have the technician on site resolve the issue. It is unfortunate that the material we were given by the homeowner was not compatible with her equipment, but this is one of the risks of supplying your own material. We did try to resolve this matter with her, and spoke with both her and the new contractor prior to the repairs being made. At her own discretion, she opted to move forward with the new contractor. As for the outlets, they were recessed into the wall and we needed to install new extension boxes, redo all connections, and vacuum out all dust & debris prior to installing the new outlets. The pricing was approved prior to any work being completed. The only mention of her dissatisfaction with this portion of the job is in the review posted here. In fact she contracted us to do an additional project at her home after the installation of the outlets. One portion of the installation was in fact higher than her original estimate; however, she was informed of the additional charges prior to doing any of the work. She was instructed at the time of the estimate to contact us to complete the installation prior to the sheetrock being installed in the room and in error she contacted us afterwords. This increased the labor involved to complete the installation. She did in fact remember that we instructed her to do this, and later apologized for her error. She was dealing with multiple contractors as well as an interior designer without a general contractor handling the project and it is perfectly conceivable that she became overwhelmed and made this error. It is common and understandable; however, it was not our fault. As for the attitude of the management, she can only be referring to the fact that we removed our tech from her home on the initial scheduled day of installation due to the fact that she did not have the material needed to complete the installation. Our tech waited on site approximately 30 min for the member to go and purchase the material. He later returned without it and explained that she was currently purchasing it and would be home shortly. Approximately 60 minutes later she returned without the material and informed our manager that the price was not the original price she had agreed to. She demanded that we honor the original price. We removed the tech from the site and promised to contact her the following day after we had spoken with both our original tech who gave her the initial estimate and the new tech on site to see what the discrepancy was in the pricing. We explained that the time for her to present a price objection was prior to detaining the technician approx 90 minutes in order for her to purchase the material. It was later determined that the one difference was that the room had been sheetrocked, and there was no longer any access to run the wires. As I stated earlier she apologized for her error, she accepted the new pricing and we completed the installation. The incorrect wiring was unfortunate and although we offered to correct the situation she chose to handle it herself with the new contractor. We respect her decision and wish her the best as she moves forward with her project.

Matt was so nice, he told us about the plan they offered to check the entire house for electric problems and we took that plan, he talked to us about the energy saving light bulbs in some of lamps and how you could not turn them on their sides because the gases would go to the bottom, It was a pleasure having him do our work. Finding honest nice folks like this is a wonderful thing.
Description of Work: Matt came and our ceiling fan and light in the dining room were not working. He checked it and the remote inside the fan had melted. He told us if he had to get another remote it would be $250 but he then said he could fix the light and we could use the pull chain to turn on the fan. To us that was so honest, if told us we had to have the remote we would have not known any better. So now the light come on and we pull the pull cord for the fan.

When Friendly Electric arrives at your home they wait to be invited in (this is especially important to me as a woman living alone) and they cover their shoes. Gabe listened to my request and explained in detail the work he was going to do. Just watch Gabe for a few minutes and you'll see the precision in which he does his work. He works neatly, vacuums after and removes all debris. I couldn't be more pleased with his work, professionalism and confidence the job would be done correctly. BTW, this is the second time I've had Friendly Electric to my home and I would contact them again in the future.
