They offer great services and are wonderful people. I have used them in the past and will continue to use them.

The electrician was very courteous and knowledgeable. He took time to explain answers to questions that I had. He gave me estimates of what he thought it might cost to have the work done. It was a pleasant experience.

Work was done well, by a highly experienced individual, as and when promised, for the price quoted. No regrets on the quality of the work or the expertise of the electrician. I selected this electrician based upon Anjie's List reviews. Had some issues with scheduling changes, and when they were supposed to show up, but that stuff happens. Office staff is professional, polite, and proactive. Next time I would likely get a second estimate for comparison. When it was all done It seemed a bit pricey for the work, the parts used, and the time taken to complete the job. Of course, you don't know what is involved to complete the job when you get an estimate; you only find that out later. That would not stop me from using them again; I have never used an electrician before, so I do not know how things go with them.

I had A-1 come out to look at 2 outside electrical issues. the first repairman replaced a cover on an outside junction box and then cleaned out the flood light on another fixture. I had said that the jucntion box was showing inconsistent service and maybe it should be changed. He said not necessary. He had put a waterprood cover on it and that was enough. He merely cleaned out the back flood light, which I told him I had already done, but he said he did more. That very same day both items did not work. I called them and said I would not pay. If it had at least worked for a day I could have dealt with it. so someone else came out and he said that the junction box had to be replaced(which I had noted to the first man). Then he said that the flood should be replaced. He did that and recommended a new timer. In total, bot hmen spent about 40 minutes at my house(and that is rounding up). I received a bill for $525. I asked for a breakdown of labor and material and was told that labor was about $350 and the remainder materails. That would put their hourly rate somewhere in the $400+ range. Preposterous. When I had originally called to set the appointment I wasgiven in that if a "trouble shooting" search was required that was in the range of $125 -270 and I could understand that. These jobs did not require that so that cannot be part of the price. It was $185 to change the box(about 7minutes), $185 to change the flood light(about 7 minutes) and change the timer(about 5 minutes - I was right there). The bill of $525 is totally outside the realm of reasonableness.

I am a first time Angie's List user and this is the first time I've called a recommended Angie's List Company. I'm glad I did use Angie's List and not the Yellow Pages with somebody unproven. Having a troublesome outlet that was surging electricity and causing problems with my computer battery backup, I called A-1 Electric and spoke to the owner Paul. He answered immediately and dispatched an employee name Gregg within 90 minutes. Gregg quickly diagnosed the problem and fixed it. This is a very professional company starting with their customer response to their quick and efficient repair. I will be calling them back for a lot more electrical work I will be needing.

I first used this company to upgrade my old breaker panel from a 1950's breaker panel. Since then they have done all the electrical repairs and upgrades in my home and I would not go with any other company.

Paul at A1 met with us to discuss standby generator options. He was very informative and did not try to "oversell" us on anything. In fact, we were looking at a whole house natural gas automatic generators, and he provided pros and cons that led us to purchase a smaller, gasoline powered generator that ran absolutely everything we needed and served us perfectly for a week after hurricane Sandy. The quote was reasonable, the service friendly and professional. A1 has also done some minor electrical work for us (installing outlets) and we were happy with that service as well.

I left a message for them 4 days ago and I never heard back from them. I decided to go with someone else.

The service person was supposed to arrive between 8:30 and 11am. He arrived at 9am. We went through the work and he promptly went to work. AFter the work was done, he wanted to make sure that all the other TV outlets were working. They were..

Overall, the experience was great. Paul called me about 20 minutes before he was going to arrive at the house, which was good so I knew when to expect him. Upon arrival, he was friendly and seemed very knowledgable. He took care of the inspection in a timely fashion, and explained to me some additional things that I did not know about the electrical box. He also gave me an estimate of how much it would cost in order to remove the aluminum wiring from the box to the A/C unit, which was the only aluminum wire coming out of the box. I definitely plan on using them for future electrical needs.

A-1 caled teh day before to let us know they were coming. They showed up on time and fully prepared for the work. The sump pump installation was quick, direct and uneventful. Our atti fan had stopped working, so the man from A-1 did a diagnostic and quickly determined that teh thermostat to our attic fan had broken. This was quickly replaced for a very minor fee. The workplaces were clean prior to his departure. Once again, and excellent job by A-1!

It went perfect. The electricians arrived exactly on time,and repaired the door bell and replaced the light fixture. They were professional, congenial, and competent. I would not hesitate to use their services again or to recommend them to my friends.

The job went well. He came in an inroduced himself and quickly went to work. The technician did an excellent job and even fixed a loose junction box that was hanging on the side of my house by the electrical panel. The person made sure that any mess was cleaned up and left as pleasantly as he arrived.

They have always been extremely professional and prompt. They know what they are doing. They have installed a couple fans and a lamp post over the years. There is nothing that they cannot do, and that is why I like them so much.

We took our time deciding what we wanted done and when but overall the experience was good. Cyndy at the office was very helpful and responded quickly to emails. Greg, the electrician that performed the estimate and work was very professional and knowledgeable about his job. The only snag we had was that they apparently lost our estimate around Christmas while Cyndy was on vacation. After clearing up the confusion once she returned everything went very smoothly. Cyndy was also helpful in guiding us to make decisions about what items we could cut from the estimate to make the job fit our budget. Their prices might have been on the high side, although I'm not sure because we didn't get an estimate from anywhere else. We were happy with their professional attitude and decided the price seemed reasonable because of that alone. We could tell we could trust them to do the job right and that is very valuable by itself. I would definitely hire them again for future work and I've already recommended them to my parents.

Electrician was very prompt and thorough. He had to change the housing the original light was installed in. He said that the original wiring was still good and that he basically just had to reclamp the wire endings to the new installation and put up the new fixture which was much diffierent than the old one. He could have said I needed a new wiring, but he didn't and I was very pleased with this. The light has been up for a few months and is working perfectly.

I don't know what that other reviewer was talking about -- if you ask someone to leave their ongoing projects to come out and give you free quotes over and over without throwing them at least a small project, you should expect to get ignored in the future. Everyone loves to take advantage of free, but at some point someone has to pay for the gas and phone bills! I bought a new house, and knew I needed to get the electrical systems updated, along with the addition of some contemporary lighting. I was in a mad rush, since the house needed a LOT of work, not just electrical, so I couldn't take the time to do any of this myself. In fact, I barely had time to make some important decisions, but at least I had time to pick these guys. WOW. Over-the-top lucky. "Big Paul" came out, toured the house with me, took notes, happily answered all my questions and anticipated many of my needs. "Little Paul," Matt and Greg came out and sometimes I just didn't have an answer for them, like when they asked "just how many lights do you want in this room? how about this room? and that room?" It only took minutes to make these decisions with their help and thoughtful suggestions. The conduits were their idea, which was great because they anticipated there would need to be more cables pulled between floors (data... electrical, etc.) and that would just make it easier in the future. Cyndy the receptionist/administrator was great, too -- I could go on and on, but the bottom line is this. It's been 9+ months since they did their work, and I'm still mightily pleased and happy to brag about it and them. I didn't have time to get second opinions or extra quotes, which everyone tells you to do (and I recommend as well), so I'm not confident the price was as stellar as the service. But they were so amazingly clean, polite, professional and helpful during the work, that it was hard to complain about it. Thanks A1! PS - I found an outside GFCI outlet wasn't working (one they had installed, but that I hadn't tried to use until December when I was putting up the lights) -- and they came right out and replaced it at no charge.

prompt service; friendly technician; reasonable price

My home has an in-law or mother/daughter apartment that is rented and the approximately 45 year-old air conditioner in that apartment kept tripping the circuit breaker and this repeated tripping caused three wall outlets to burn out and stop working. Those outlets were replaced by Paul (Hampton) and he determined after thoroughly troubleshooting the problem that a new a/c unit that drew less amperage was needed along with a dedicated electrical line. I agreed with his assessment as the old a/c unit was a relic and a killer on my electric bill. A new a/c unit was purchased and installed. Matt and Paul, in the interim, responded to an emergency call from me several days earlier when the circuit breaker servicing the old air condition and the bedroom of the apartment would no longer reset and the apartment was without power to the bedroom and part of the living room area. They promptly replaced the old breaker the same day I called. Today, 8/11/11, Matt and Paul V returned and the the new electrical line on it's own circuit dedicated to the a/c unit was done. They also changed out a bathroom outlet in favor of a GFI outlet in the apartment for me. All of this work was done over the course of three visits. Each of the electricians who worked in my home were very professional, knowledgable, personable, and courteous. Additionally, they were always on time and I was never kept waiting for their arrival. The work was performed with respect to me and my home; any clean up that was needed was done to perfection. One would never know any work had been done other than the now upgraded service which puts my mind greatly at ease regarding the safety of my tenant, the apartment, and my home. Cyndy was a blessing being very understanding, knowledgable, and helpful; without her skilled assistance and schedule juggling, I'd have been in a panic about the breaker that would not reset leaving my tenant in the dark. She was a pleasure to deal with along with the electrician pro's. I will DEFINITELY call on A-1 in the future for any and all electrical needs and will highly recommend them to friends and family. The customer service that A-1 provides is uncommon in today's world. I'd give A-1 ten stars if I could! Without Angie's List, who knows what company I might have called from the yellow pages that would not have even come close to A-1! They are "A-1" for a reason! Kudos to this company!

Everything was excellent. The quote matched the bill. They came in, and did the work in short time and they even helped the people that bought our house.

He answerwed the phone promptly and professionally. I was upset and he spoke calmly and made things clearer.

We got a few estimates to have our system upgraded in our 1940's house. Most were fairly professional, but this company had the best price, and were very professional, to boot. Paul came and checked everything out, and was able to give us an estimate by the next day (actually- it might have even been the same day). The estimate was spot on. It's been more than a year since we had the work done (and I feel badly not having gotten to this sooner!), and I can say we've had no problems. Overall, as far as electric work can be, it was a pain-free experience. Would definitely recommend them.

The main customer service representative was very knowledgeable and responsive. They had early morning appointments (7am), which meant I did not have to miss any work. The electrician came on time, was professional, completed everything I needed and was finished in about 30 minutes.

They had good ratings and reviews on Angie?s list and therefore I wanted to try them out. He was incredibly friendly. He seemed to know what he was talking about. He did it quick. He looked at the house and he knew what we wanted done. He said he would get me the estimate soon. They would have been able to start work pretty much right away, so that was good as well. We just decided to go with someone else with a lower price. I would consider using their services in the future.
