There was a large stain on the wood from a previous owner. The flooring company said they could remove it as it was water damage. When sanding the floor, an employee called the business owner and told him it was a pet stain and wouldn't come out. Instead of calling us, they decided to proceed with refinishing the floor. Luckily, my wife and I saw the problem before the floor was polyurethaned; a huge black area in the middle of the floor! When confronted, the owner told us "I have 25 years experience and there's nothing you can do about pet urine stains" and then "I have clients in Princeton with pet stains and they are fine with their floors." Having had this problem in a previous house, I knew it could be fixed. We fought him on the situation, forcing him to bleach the stain, then apply the new finish by hand. Once completed, the floor looked much better. The bleach did remove the grain pattern in that area, but the color matched. The floor is good, the service was bad.
Description of Work: Whiteson's came to sand and refinish the floors in our dining room, living room, hallway and stairs when we bought our house in the fall of 2007.
