Garden State Water Heaters

I needed to replace a broken water heater that was still under warranty. The size I had installed is not manufactured anymore for residential water heaters, so Carmine explained to me my options and took time to answer my questions and recommend a heater to get at Home Depot. But HD didn't have the needed size in stock almost anywhere. After searching for a water heater all over the state of New Jersey these guys went to Home Depot after removing my water heater and waited there for over two hours while my warranty replacement was processed, and then replaced my existing water heater. They were so very patient, came back from Home Depot and installed the new water heater quick and clean. Great job, highly recommend! Thank you guys!

Outstanding service. We came home from a weekend away to a pool of water from a broken water heater. We were having trouble getting it replace due to a holiday and some other issues. The owners called me after hours and had their installers at my home the next morning with a replacement. They also offered to help me with flood remediation. The guys who installed it were awesome, fixing what needed to be fixed and cleaned up the mess left from the old heater. All for a truly reasonable price. Highly recommend all of them.

Very easy to discuss all the issues with Dawn. She was extremely friendly and understanding and patient with all the questions we had prior to scheduling the installation.

What I liked that prompted the 5* rating. (a) Prompt and direct response. To the original proposal, as well as any subsequent communication/messaging. (b) Direct, consistent and "suspiciously" low pricing. The price quoted was less than 50% of my regular HVAC company. To be fair my regular company is one of the most expensive. GSWH quote was barely higher than the heater's price on Supply House. Had it not been for rating here, I would have avoided this company on that suspicion. Especially since it was a Text-only quote. No contract write-ups with details. Now I can say they seem to have achieved this competitive pricing through focus (water heaters only), volume and efficient operations. Kudos to GSWH for making this possible. (c) My purchase qualified for utility company rebate. I was not aware, neither was this mentioned during sales pitch. But along with Township paper work, GSWH sent me information about where/how to apply for it. That's a bonus (d) I spent additional money on extra work identified during install. But it all looked logical to me and could not have been part of the original quote. (valve replacement, etc.). (e) Chris and Roger worked efficiently and very respectfully. My job had some challenges (non standard sizing of the original unit's pipes, older unit wont drain easily, etc.). I suspect they spent more time than typical for these situations. But there was no complaint or ask for any adjustments. Of course not everything was smooth. But nothing to take away from overall good project and hence 5 star rating. Rough bumps on the execution were: (a) GSWH filled in City form and mailed me. After that, it was my responsibility to see it through with the city. My previous (expensive) HVAC contractor handled all those directly. I chalk it to remaining operationally efficient and focused. I had not trouble working through city process. (b) There was air left in the boiler side plumbing. This caused my boiler to stop functioning on the night of the install. There was hot water (because of the storage tank) but the heat was lost. I contacted GSWH at 9 PM, and they sent Chris and Roger back the next day. That day they did a thorough (once-bitten-twice-shy like) job of removing air from the system. They insisted and exchanged the expansion tank on that system too. I agree it was truly required. The system worked smoothly since. (d) Chris indicated that I may need an expansion tank on my heater per city code. Since my old one did not have it, I said may-be not. I wish he had insisted with confidence. Because city inspector did insist on it. So I had to call them to do that part later. At a higher fee of course. (e) The aesthetics could be better? I am no plumber, so I don't know what is better plumbing functionally. But arrangement of pipes and the expansion tank could be more compact? It definitely looks tidy. But looks less efficient use of space. (f) The call on the night of the install, for reporting problem with air in the system, was responded by a less polite person than my generation is used to. But nothing to take away from effectively scheduling and addressing it.

This was by far the friendliest group I interacted with. They were nice from beginning to finish, didn't try to upsell me constantly and showed up exactly when they said they would show up. I would highly recommend.

A massive thanks to Carmine and his son for installing a new water heater on Christmas Eve (and on a Sunday to boot). His prices were nearly half what another company had wanted to charge us the night before, and the other company did not even look at the water heater. Carmine and his son were incredibly responsive, professional, and fast. We will definitely use their services again. We are super grateful that he answered the phone at 8 p.m. on a Saturday night and was here by 9:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

They beat everyone's price showed up on time put down drop cloths to protect rugs and did good work and completed the work on time.

Totally satsified except for a couple of up charges which I did not expect but was told about prior to the work getting done. In addition to water heater being replaced was told that my hot and cold water valves needed to be replaced along with my chimney vent which I was told, would not pass code even though it did 4 years ago when the town inspector looked at it. Added another $400 to the bill but overall still reasonable - Dan (Marlboro)

Truly impressed by Garden State Water Heaters. I needed to have my water heater replaced. I submitted an online request to them (and others) in the morning and heard a reply within 30 mins (30 mins!). I still havenâ  t heard a reply from some of the other companies. I spoke with Carmine (professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient). He asked me a number of questions, had me send him a couple pics of my old unit and the surrounding area, and then quoted me a price and told me he could have the work done that day (that day!). Roger and Chris, from Garden State Water Heaters, came and completed the replacement of my water heater. These guys are intensely skilled and efficient! I was impressed by the solid install work, the helpful suggestions about future maintenance (which I could do myself), the price, and the great and friendly attitude from Roger and Chris! They did the work, removed my old and somewhat nasty unit, and actually left the area around the heater cleaner than when they arrived. They have my vote, and they earned any and all of my future business.

Roger and Chris who did the install and removal were fantastic! Couldnâ t have asked for two better hard-working people for this job! There were unexpected upscopes required that should have been identified from the photos provided prior to the bid. This drove the cost above the other contractor who bid all inclusive by $250. Of note their response time was awesome

Dawn and Carmine gave fast response and detail quote to customer. We discussed our usage and they recommended the high recovery water heater model to fit our need. Installation job is professional and fast. Technicians showed up on time and completed the job in about 1 hour. Our unit is located on 3rd floor so it is considered a difficult job. I'd recommend garden state water heaters to my friends and family for their water heater replacement.
