ServPro Middletown and ServPro Freehold are the same offices. Monique from Middletown was very helpful back in May when I needed the service. When I spoke to her, she even gave me her cell phone number as a way to get in touch with her. We had determined that this service was NOT covered by my insurance and I would have to pay out of pocket. I didn't know what the price would be until Monique told me the out-of-pocket price would be between 2200 and 2500 dollars. I said fine. So the guys came to my house and after they had finished the first days' work, they wanted me to sign a receipt. But the receipt did not have the total price of the job; just that it was a record that I gave them a $500 deposit. The onsite-workers said Monique would follow up with me. This was on May 30th. I never heard from her again. In mid-July, ServPro sends me a bill for over $5,000.00. No explanation, no detailed invoice, just an erroneous bill for this amount. I spoke with Monique (on a Saturday) as soon as I got the bill and she denied ever speaking with me, or giving me that verbal quote. Meanwhile, I had her cell number that she had given me as proof. That Monday, I called Alyssa/Alicia (don't remember her name) who said she would bring it to the attention of her manager. Then I got a new bill from them for $2,738.70. I asked for a revised bill stating the higher verbal amount of $2500.00 but never heard back from them. So I sent them a a check for $2000.00 as the balance to settle the bill. ($500.00 deposit + $2000.00 = $2500.00 total.) It turns out they cashed that check. Then, a couple of weeks later, I receive another bill from them for their "new" amount of $2738.70. They said, with tax, I owe them $420.14; included with that bill was a threatening letter from them that they would send their lawyers after me if I did not pay the balance within 10 days. What kind of professional business issues a NON-DETAILED arbitrary invoice for $5000.00 and expects a consumer to pay for it???? Monique verbally told me between 2200 and 2500, based on the measurements of the room that I provided her before the job was contracted. She definitely dropped the ball on this one. She denies ever talking to me and now the office will not honor the original verbal amount that I was told by Monique and that I agreed to, Don't use them; they are rip-off artists and unprofessional as far as billing and payments. Two whole months went by, and THEN I received this ridiculous bill for this ridiculous amount of $5000.00. I NEVER signed a contract for services for that amount, nor for the $2738.70 that they billed me. But in good faith I sent them another $2000.00 for a total for $2500.00, and they threaten to sue me.

"We apologize for any miscommunications with the customer and value the feedback they have provided us. As for our pricing, the insurance industry utilizes an estimating program based upon dimensions and line item codes for each task we perform during the course of a water damage. We follow IICRC standards during mitigation and charge customers the same rates as we would an insurance carrier. It is impossible for us to quote exact pricing over the phone. Site inspections must be performed to confirm measurements and the extent of damage. Any pricing given over the phone is qualified as “ballpark” and is subject to the work performed to properly dry the structure and inhibit microbial growth. In this particular situation, there was carpeting over a plywood floor which was over concrete. We cannot tell over the phone this exists and if the plywood is salvageable. When the bill was initially processed, we did make two errors. The square footage of carpet removed was incorrect and the code used to remove the sub floor included sleepers when should not have. Our bill was revised and resent in the correct amount. If customer has any concerns with the line item break down or measurements of the $2,920.14 bill we would be happy to review and discuss them with them."

They left the house a mess. They left the fridge full of the same food that was in there since the day of the fire on April 10th. We moved into our new place on May 31, 2012. The cats dirty litter was still there. Something told me to check the dishwasher, they left some of my silverware in there. There were area rugs that were dirty and left there. I went upstairs to check our shower in the master bedroom and found rugs, wash cloths and bottles of shampoo that they never got rid of. Plus, at our new place the day they made the delivery, I asked them what about their covers that they put on our furniture and they told us when you are finished unpacking they will pick them up in a few days. After they left my husband and I noticed that they left a big table that said "living room" and they did not carry it upstairs to the room. My husband, daughter and I put the beds together. I am 60 and my husband is 63 and they left us to do this on our own among other things we had to carry ourselves, we have a three floor town house with lots of stairs.
We called the company and we complained to the supervisor of the project manager. He did not even show up at the move, they said he has other projects to do. His supervisor referred us to another project manager. She told us she was very sorry and would investigate the matter. She offered to have them come back and she would supervise them. This woman was there when they moved our stuff out of the old town house and yet the place was left a mess. We no longer felt we can trust them to even put our beds together and anything else. We thanked her for the offer, but turned her down. She told us she interviewed the five men and fired only one of them. They all should have been fired. My husband and I found the one thing we could not do is put a table top on our dining room table. My husband said that they got paid through our renters insurance for certain things they did not do, so we called them to put the top on the table and to bring up the table for the living room. They did it. But they had left some damage to the some of the furniture and some parts were missing. We called the project manager and she was very arrogant. She finally came over and looked and took pictures and paid us $300.00. She asked my husband for a sum he was looking for, my husband said $300.00 because he threw away one of the damaged tables. But he also wanted to be done with "Servpro". She mentioned she would call a furniture store regarding a broken wood piece for a mirror. Have not heard anything yet. I WOULD NEVER, EVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN NOR DO I RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE!!!! They do not have any integrity, respect and are not honest. The original project manager never cleaned the chinaware and have it rewrapped and his promise to take care of all the clean up at the old town house was one big lie!!!
This company continues to lie. As I can see by their response to my complaint against them. There was no miscommunication only lies and unprofessional work by this company. My husband did give an all 10 rating at first, because the man that gave him the paper was standing over his shoulder. This was also before we realized they lied about putting our beds together. I am glad that "Angie's List" has given me an opportunity to give them the proper rating, "F" across the board!! The refridgerator they stated was not working is a lie. It belongs to our landlord. I called the project manager at 10:15pm at night on a Friday because I thought I would get her voice mail and I did not wish to speak to her again. As I stated before, if you unfortunately find yourself involved in a fire, run if you see anyone from "SERVPRO OF FREEHOLD" they are truly a disrespectful and dishonest company.

"On 4/10/2012, our project manager was called to this fire by the property management company to service all three of the affected units. My responses to the report are as follow. 1. The homeowners did reach out to the project manager regarding the removal of their cat litter and removal of the food items from the already “non restorable” refrigerator. He told them he would have our technicians take care of it when they made an additional trip back to the site (as a courtesy) to bring their BBQ grill. At no point did the homeowner stress the urgency to have the work done sooner. We would have gladly accommodated them instead they decided to supposedly do the work themselves. When contacted, we tried several times to return to the site and assemble the furniture. However, the member changed her mind repeatedly about how and if she wanted her furniture handled. 2. In regards to the move back of their items, I did speak with all of the technicians that were present for this part of the job and they all advised me that the member left and the member asked them not to put the bed frames together because they were unsure of the placements of the beds. The treadmill was not placed in the basement because, after measuring the width of the treadmill and the width of the door opening it was evident that it would not have fit through the opening. This was also their new living location so I know for a fact that this was not done before by past moving companies. We do not specialize in “taking apart and putting back together” gym equipment. When the member reached out to me I quickly tried to resolve this for her because the last thing I want is any client to be unhappy with our services. Every time the member tried to contact me, whether it was during business hours or after hours, even at 11 pm on a Friday night, her calls were always answered. The technicians obtained a perfect score on a certificate of satisfaction dated on the day of the move back. A copy of which has been uploaded to the documents section of our profile. Finally, I never told the member’s that I fired anyone over this miscommunication. 3. We never received any concerns about the billing on this job, so I was never aware of these false allegations. 4. In Consideration of the “damaged items” any company would ask to see the alleged items, I believe they would have kept the desk if they had everything else that was damaged, however the member’s disposed of it prior to my inspection without taking any photos that would’ve supported their claim. The desk was the only large ticket item that supposedly was damaged so $300.00 is a fair number for their stress during this project. I agreed to their asking price. Therefore, I am not obligated to do any more research regarding the remainder of the items that were being paid for. We made every effort to correct any issues she brought to our attention and feel her complaints are not justified."

We lost power to our sump pump during Hurricane Irene and had a couple of inches of water in our basement. We called servepro and were contacted a few days later. Someone from a storm team from another state came by, gave us an estimate and told us they were very short equipment and would contact us in a few days to schedule us. 2 weeks went by and I called the local servepro in Freehold many times and was not given a response. I called their national number, gave my info including the confirmation numbers that were provided on the initial visit, and was told is got lost in the mix somehow. This resulted in the local freehold office calling me and setting up another estimate. They came out this time and ripped up the carpet, but did not go into the crawl space to see what may be holding moisture underneath, instead they aimed a couple of fans in that direction and let them run for two days. The main room was ok when they were done, but they left all of the stuff in the crawlspace (which is half of the basement) untouched. a month later, I noticed the smell and ended up pulling out some insulation and a few boxes that we completely soaked inside. I didn't say anything about this, but cleaned it out on my own.The insurance deposited the amount in my account and Servepro was given my account info for payment, but waited 2 months to charge may card for the payment. By this time, some of that money was spent and then they hounded me for payment. I let them know i was very dissatisfied with my service and was basically told that I chose them when I could have chosen other providers, and that all they cared about was getting there payment. I set up a payment plan for a bi-weekly weekly payment and they did not take the money out as agreed upon, instead a month and a half later, they tried to take 3 payments worth at once which was declined by my bank. We worked out the payment in the end, but all they were concerned with was getting my money. They guys that did the work did not speak any english and did not do a thorough job and the overall response was horrendous. this is one company that I will never do business with again

We had a small amount of mold in our crawlspace and some mold in our A/C Unit. Servepro was recommended to us for mold remediation. Their quote was high, but according to them, the work was highly specialized and they were the best in the business. Our daughter has asthma, and we wanted to be sure she didn't have any additional breathing problems. Despite clear written instructions on the estimate and conversations with me, they ripped out 500+ dollars worth of clean insulation on the ceiling of the crawlspace (no mold), broke their own containment system (clearly the workers were not concerned about the relatively small amount of mold they were removing), and made other significant errors. Then, despite the fact that the mold being removed was located only along the bottom of the crawlspace wall, they sprayed toxic fungicidal paint over all of the crawlspace walls and the entire ceiling of the crawlspace. Nine months later, the fumes from the paint were still coming into our family room and moving into the bedrooms on the next floor. Rather than having unhealthy air because of the mold, we had unhealthy air because of toxic paint. After spending 3 months running our A/C with the windows open because of the fumes, we asked Servepro to spray a no-VOC paint over the fungicidal paint in order to contain the smell, or to compensate us for the cost. They refused. We paid over 1000 dollars to someone else to come in and spray paint, the fumes are greatly reduced, but are still sometimes noticeable. I wish I had done more on line research on Servepro before hiring them (see other non-Angie's list ratings), and I wish I had never had them do the work on the crawlspace. The crew that cleaned the A/C unit appeared to do a good job, and we have not noticed any problems with the unit 1 year later, which is why I was so generous in my overall rating of the company.
