Don’t bother contacting these guys unless you are a large commercial company! As a new homeowner, I thought the easiest route to setting up a home security system would be to simply use the one the previous owners already had in place, so I contacted Delta. When the owner, Tom, came out to our place initially he was very nice, and assured me they could get our system set up and provide quality service for a reasonable price. But when it came time to schedule the actual set-up, he was almost impossible to get a hold of. I probably should have looked elsewhere at that point, but we were very busy with other contractors and work on the new house, and he kept assuring me he would get back to me and take care of it. Finally, after weeks of phone calls chasing him down to get an appointment, followed by him repeatedly cancelling and rescheduling those appointments (appointments I had scheduled weeks in advance), came the day he never even bothered to let me know he wasn’t going to show up to do the installation. I had to call his secretary to ask if he was still coming or not after sitting at home for almost an hour waiting for him to show up. She was extremely apologetic; she honestly seemed embarrassed for him. After I spoke with her he called me back, claiming he’d sent a last-minute email (which I never received and seriously doubt he sent) saying he couldn’t make it (again). The reason Tom gave for blowing off. that appointment? “Well, when you have a ten-story building whose panel is out you have to take care of them right away! I really don’t do residential installations anyway except as a favor to family and friends.” Well, okay, dude. You couldn’t have told me that in the first place instead of stringing me along for 2 months wasting my time??? I wasn’t asking for any “favor”—pardon me for trying to give you my clearly unworthy business. I want to stress that up to this point it was never mentioned or even hinted at that they didn’t like doing residential installations. It’s ultimately for the best, though. I wouldn’t want to give my business to or trust my home security with someone so unprofessional and disrespectful of my time and property. I’d much rather do business with a company that is honest, straightforward, and treats their would-be customers with respect, even the smaller and less lucrative ones. I can’t think of a clearer example of bad business practice than to blow off appointment after appointment with a new customer to take care of your bigger clients at their expense, without even having the common courtesy to let them know. I mean really, it’s pretty bad when your own employees are embarrassed by you.
Description of Work: We needed a home security system set up. I cannot comment on the quality of the actual system or price as service was never performed as promised.
