They showed up early and worked quickly. Very professional and courteous and took lots of pictures of my roof so they could best advise me about necessary (future) repairs. I was very pleased w/ the service and would highly recommend them.

This was my husband's and my first major renovation project, and overall it was a very positive experience. AD Home Improvement did excellent work, from beginning to end, and we are overjoyed with the result. They helped us turn a tiny, outdated, very impractical kitchen into a much more functional, open, and beautiful space. Everyone was very pleasant to work with, especially Mike (the owner). We kept in contact with him during the entire project, and he help address any issues that came up. The renovation took quite a bit longer than initially projected, but it came in just about on budget and there were no nasty surprises along the way. I was extremely impressed by how up-front and honest everyone was. One thing I will say is that the AD Home Improvement team is ideally suited for people who have a good idea what they want to accomplish and feel confident making design choices without a lot of guidance. Mike did a wonderful job at the outset planning out the space with us--suggesting a great plan to knock down part of a wall, close off a small window to gain more cabinet space, and switching the position of the stove and sink. But when it came to smaller and more aesthetic details, like choosing the cabinet colors/styles, countertops, tiles, etc, we didn't really get a lot of hand-holding. He always made himself available to answer questions and discuss things, but we definitely needed to reach out proactively and know what questions to ask. I think the way they work is great for people who, as I said, know what they want. But if you're looking for someone to really sit down with you and help you plan out every little detail, you're probably better off with a more design-focused company. Or, you could do what I did, which was tons of research and learning on the fly! It worked out great for us in the end. The only other minor issue I had was with communication. Again, they were very responsive to my questions and requests, but not very proactive in updating me on progress or letting me know well ahead of time when we needed to do something. There were a number of items we needed to purchase ourselves, and I would have really appreciated getting a list at the beginning of everything we were responsible for along with a timeline of when each should be in place. I never actually asked for that, though--I just didn't know enough going in. I will be better prepared with my questions and needs next time! The bottom line is that the folks at AD Home Improvement did a fantastic job, and I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for solid, skilled, friendly, and honest contractors to help them transform their living space. I'm already thinking about the next project I will call them about!

It was a really good experience working with Michael and the team. Michael provided a really fair quote and ideas on how to make the renovation and layout of the new bathroom even better. He was really flexible when I wanted to add painting other rooms on to the existing job, and we worked things out together when problems arose during the renovation (which is expected for a nearly 100-year-old house). The team's work was really good, and the bathroom looks and functions great. I would have liked more frequent communication and detail orientation from the project manager, as certain things had to be redone multiple times either because we weren't consulted or assumptions were made. But overall, the team was professional, punctual, and always left the house clean and ready for us to return when they were done each day. I would hire them again for another job at my house, and I have referred them to my neighbors already.
Description of Work: Renovated our main bathroom, gutting it completely and expanding it into the guest room by removing a closet. + Drywalled a ceiling and painted two bedrooms.

Recently, we totally renovated our bathrooms. After screening six different contractors we selected AD Home Improvement Company as our contractor. The owner, Michael Ponce, and his team are a true delight to work with. Michael reviewed the job, made very useful and practical suggestions while scoping the design details and gave us a detailed estimate just a day later. Hiscompany is insured and has same address for over last 10 years. Mike took us to see his work at some other project site and also provided references. At the conclusion of his work at our house, we are truly happy with his workmanship and finished product. His people are neat, knowledgeable and courteous. Every day they covered stairs with drop cloth and broom cleaned at the end of each work-day. It was interesting that all debris was immediately removed which meant that the dumpster bin wasnot needed to be placed on our drive way. All work was done as planned and promised by Michael and there were no changeorders costing us extra money. AD is an outstanding professional, very reliable and affordable contractor whom one can trust to hand over any home improvement job with confidence. Their industry-wide contacts is an added bonus to tackle the ancillary jobs (such as shower glass doors and marble counter-top, in our case) related to the main project. Overall, we are not only happy but also thankful to AD for giving us a remarkable finished product, on time, at the quoted price and with a marvelous professional craftsmanship and diligence throughout the project.

Over the past five years, A D Home Improvement has updated our master bath, a powder room, and they just completed a remodel of our remaining full bathroom. They have always given us competitive quotes. They have always been responsive, collaborative, and polite. They are exceedingly neat, and are sure to clean up after each workday. They are trustworthy, they arrive when they say they will, and they work quickly and efficiently. As a homeowner, I am thrilled to know a contracting company that consistently delivers excellent results. The guys at A D are the best!

We had a very good experience. Their estimate was fair and clear and they started immediately and they took care of all the required permits and approvals. The tile work looks fantastic and the custom wainscoting is beautiful. They worked quickly, checked in with us along the way to ensure that they were delivering to our expectations and were tidy. I was very pleased that they cleaned up after themselves each day. We'll be using them for more renovations to come.
Description of Work: We had a half bath renovated in our turn of the century home. The bathroom was gutted to studs and sub-flooring, all the plumbing rerouted and the bathroom was completely customized to our specifications.

We recently completed a large renovation project (kitchen, baths, HVAC, electrical, exterior) with AD Home Improvement and am happy to report that we had a very positive experience. Before getting into (lengthy) details, the summarized version of my review is as follows: - Found ADHI through Angie?s List and selectedthem based on the proposal (the plan for addressing our needs and the cost) and professionalism of Mike Ponce, my primary contact. - Mike and his team are extremely responsive which made working with them a pleasure. They are professional, courteous and eager to get things right, even sometimes at their own expense when necessary. - The quality of their work is excellent and we are extremely happy with how everything turned out (and this review is being posted 6 months post-completion, and we have not had any issues with the work provided by ADHI). - The project was completed essentially on-time and on-budget. Several complications arose during the project outside of ADHI?s control (such as our boiler system failing and a burst pipe in the basement), and ADHI was able to take on the additional HVAC and repair work and still stay on schedule within the revised budget). - ADHI will be my first call for our next home renovation and I would be willing to recommend them to others. OK, with that summary out of the way, for those that are interested in more detail, here?s the longer version: We initially found ADHI through Angie?s List and met with Mike Ponce at the same time we were meeting with other contractors to assess the project and gather estimates. After meeting with Mike and discussing his proposal, we felt Mike?s proposal was the most thorough and after speaking with some of the references he provided for local projects that he had recently completed, we decided to move forward and Mike?s team was able to get started very quickly. Given that this was our first renovation project, I had a lot of questions and probably required more hand-holding than some of Mike?s other clients, but one of Mike?s biggest strengths is that he?s extremely responsive and makes you feel like a priority at every step of the project. I can honestly say that Mike returned emails, calls or texts at any time, usually almost immediately and always within 24 hours. Overall, Mike and his team (Oscar + Carlos primarily) were great to work with. They are professional, and courteous and flexible, and very accommodating in terms of changes and fixes that were requested along the way. This open communication made the project with ADHI much more manageable and is a major reason I would work with ADHI in the future. In terms of the project itself, we were looking to gut renovate our kitchen and bathroom, add a new powder room off the kitchen, and remove the wall between the dining room and kitchen to create more of an open plan. In order to do this, we also had to remove a non-functional/non-structural chimney that ran through the center of the house, and we wanted to move an exterior door from the kitchen to off the dining room so that we could have more cabinet/counter space in the kitchen and French doors off the dining room to a new patio. We also wanted to upgrade the electric service to the house, and add outlets and lighting to the bedrooms. Once we were in agreement with Mike on how we would accomplish all of the aspects of the project, we signed off on the contract and Mike immediately provided an overview of what furnishings/appliances we would need to provide and rough dates on when we would need them in-house to stay on schedule. Working this way, where ADHI provides raw materials and the customer provides the furnishing/appliances definitely saves a lot of money, as there is no contractor mark-up on the customer-provided goods, but does require attention to detail on the client?s part. Well worth it in my opinion, and we had no trouble staying on schedule with Mike, in large part due to the frequent communication throughout the project. I would also recommend using his vendors for cabinets and counters, as well as bathroom fixtures, as in each case, to vendors came through on schedule, the quality was excellent, and the pricing was better than I could find searching endlessly on the internet. Once Mike?s team got started, things moved very quickly. Demo was done within a few weeks, and the team did their best to control dust using zippered plastic walls and keep the house live-able (since we were living there during the project). During the demo work, we discovered some additional issues that needed to be addressed, such as knob-and-tube wiring and an issue with the support for the kitchen floor, but in each instance, Mike or Oscar explained the situation and provided options/costs for addressing the issues. Further into the project, our boiler system started to fail and eventually a pipe in the basement burst, but Mike saved the day, quickly getting quotes for new boilers and the option of replacing the whole system with a new high-efficiency forced air system (including adding central AC). We ultimately decided to go the route of replacing the whole system, since adding central AC was something we were planning to do down the road, and Mike was able to sub-contract this part of the work so that we could have two crews working on the house and keep the overall project on schedule. In general, whenever these situations arose, where there were multiple options for addressing an issue, I felt like I had a level of trust with Mike where I could ask for his opinion on what he would do; when to spend the extra money to get something done a certain way, and when I should take the cheaper option. To Mike?s credit, he frequently said the cheaper option would work well, even though he potentially could?ve recommended the more expensive option to increase his profit on our project. In terms of ?negatives? of working with Mike and ADHI, the only thing I have in that department is both a ?negative? but also a ?strength?. There were a few pieces of the project where Mike and I never explicitly discussed how something would be done, such as placement of new a new outlet, or the way the recessed nook would be positioned in the shower, and I would come home one night and realize it wasn?t done the way I had expected. I list this as a ?negative? because I think these situations could be avoided by asking for explicit direction in those cases (and I recognize that these things are as much on the client to provide clear direction?something I didn?t know to look out for as a first-time renovator), but in each case, Mike was willing to move the outlets or do whatever was needed to make us happy, something that I greatly appreciated. Toward the end of the project, ADHI did a nice job following through on the finishing touches (which I often hear is an issue with renovation projects, as contractors get focused on their next job), and making sure everything was working properly and that we were happy with how everything turned out. All in all, even with the additional HVAC work, the project came in pretty much on schedule, and pretty close to on budget. Based on my experience, I would definitely recommend ADHI and will likely be calling Mike first when our next renovation project comes up.
Description of Work: Gut renovated kitchen and bath, added a new half bath, added new patio/deck/french doors, removed steam boiler and radiators and installed new forced hot air and central A/C. Several other upgrades/renovations as well.

Amazing! Initial meeting was great. Michael had great suggestions to make the project even better. Extremely professional and reliable. No hidden costs and if a mistake was made the company was accountable (something I greatly value; not that there were many errors). Someone was always present for inspections. We have done renovations in the past and this one was the smoothest of all. My one only regret is not re-concreting the floors. I think although the product use over the subfloor was more affordable I would have spent more money to have the tiles more firmly secure. I would absolutely recommend A D Home Improvement.07407

Mike Ponce was our initial contact and was very efficient and helpful. His team, led by Oscar, was great -- honest, friendly and professional. We always felt comfortable leaving the house when they were there. Worker Obie (sp.) was very helpful and painted the radiator cover so I didn't have to get a new one. There were some unanticipated problems with the plumbing and the ceiling, but all was explained so that I completely understood and approved. Other than delays caused by the town's inspection schedule, the project was completed in the time indicated. We plan to use A.D. again soon for two other projects -- another bathroom renovation and some kitchen work.

After looking at a few other contractors, we immediately knew we wanted to go with A&D. Michael was professional, efficient and thorough and explained everything in detail. He was very responsive over email and phone to answer all of our questions and help us along the way. We had an emergency leak in our only full bathroom right before the arrival of our first baby and decided to do a full remodel as out bathroom was very old. He and his team did everything they could to get be job done on time to be sensitive to our needs. But they were also realistic about timelines and what could be controlled which we appreciated. The bathroom looks absolutely beautiful and we are very pleased. We would used them again.

The job went well and we are all very happy with the results. The bathroom looks beautiful as compared to its previous state, which had a 1950's look. The $13,250 cost mentioned above is AD's fee for the job. With all finished goods materials (tile, vanity, sink, tub, toilet, town permits, etc.) the total cost of the job was $22,904. Demolition was pretty much done in one day, with some additional prep work required after that to fix some areas of the studs to prepare for new sheetrock. The scheduling did center around the town being able to do inspections (plumbing, electrical, building), but AD was punctual in completing the work when they could, as they had to wait for these inspections to occur throughout the project. They set up a temporary shower so we could use it in the new tub when feasible, with the bathroom in a rough state before the new walls and ceiling were installed. This was a help because our home only has this one shower. But construction will dictate when such use is possible. Mike Ponce was our initial contact for the job, who provided the estimate and contract. We communicated also throughout the job. Oscar Mendoza was the very capable project manager, who jumped in as required to do work and solve problems. Both were responsive to issues that occurred as part of the job, which I would consider normal for a job of this type. For example, the Town said we had to lower the temperature of the hot water in the shower to pass the final plumbing inspection, and they sent over the plumber to fix this the next day. AD was also very considerate of the house and any debris from the job, and would cover all rugs in the pathway to the second floor as the first thing they did when they worked here. As the customer, you have to be involved in the project. I made a list of certain items I had questions about. Once again, no showstoppers and all normal in a remodeling job like this, and they addressed these. All the workers were nice and very considerate. Our tile vendor did hold up the job, as certain items were missing from the initial delivery and then they were out of stock. Make sure to inspect all deliveries of goods.

When we were looking up for someone to do remodeling, we contacted couple of contractors. From the available quotes we picked up AD Home improvement mainly because they were responsive and understood our timelines. Mike Ponce was the contact person from AD Home improvement, he came in couple of times to take the measurement and provide us with the detailed estimate. Few things we liked about AD : 1. They provide you list of all the task they are gonna perform in advance. You can add/remove any items before the work started. 2. They are responsive - someone from their team will get back if there is any issue with the work. Even at 9:30 at the night, when I had to call them about some leak during the demo the guy showed up and fixed the leaks. 3. Understands the importance of timelines - Mike even worked late once to come up with cost estimate so that we can start the work asap. Which was good gesture considering we wanted the projects to be done soon. 4. Projects were completed on time. Few things we would ask to improve or to consider for future : 1. Since we lived in the house during the construction we were very careful about the dust/cleanliness around outside the work area. Even though team took care and sealed off the area, there was still some amount dust and debris outside. We felt this could have been avoided if the team was a bit more careful when moving in and out work area. 2. Design - This is something I would say needs to be considered by both contractors and owners before starting the project. We had a design issue which was realized much later in the project (during inspection)... even though the county passed the initial design, one of the inspection failed. And the rework added some additional expense to the project. My suggestion to both home-owners and AD is to go over the design in detail so that we reduce the probability of such surprises. Overall - We liked these guys and will hire them again if required.

Michael and his team came in and in a matter of 3 months turned my house around. I had bought it a few months back. It took us sometime to find the right contractor. In the end; the entire project ( one kitchen, 2 bathrooms, whole house painting and floor refinishing and a brand new deck in the yard) was completed as we had expected. I even recommended this company to my father that lives in Union. He had his kitchen redone not too long ago with the same beautiful results.

I would not recommend this company. Mike was very helpful and responsive but he is not the day to day contact. There was a lack of project management oversight. The project manager was not regularly on site and I had to notice the mistakes made by the subcontractors and bring them to his attention including putting fixtures in the wrong location. We had plenty of issues including a lack of professionalism by the contractor as there were was no porta-potty on site. Overall, there was a lack of focus and attention to detail by the sub-contractors and the project manager. Mike was responsive, knowledgable and helpful but I can't say the same for the actual staff performing the work.

The hallway bathroom had been remodeled last year by another company and we were in need of a more modern-looking full master bathroom. We didn't do a complete remodel on the bathroom as it was going to be used by our kids, but we had bigger and better ideas for transforming it into a master bathroom. I think that A D HOME IMPROVEMENT under-promised and over-delivered. They were great from start to finish. We had some issues with our selection of finishing material and deliver of it (our responsability) but in the end the project was completed on time. We are very pleased with the end result. Suggestion: Make sure you inform your contractor of all your ideas and make sure that they are aware of all of your finishing material preferences. Not all that you see and can buy on the internet is code-complaint. Had we checked with our contractor regarding our purchases it would have reduced the delays in our project.

We closed on our house 8/1/14 and had AD Home Improvement come the next day for an estimate. They responded quickly and worked with us to figure out what would be best for our bathroom. Work finally began late August after a long wait for the permits. We were not living in the house at the time of the remodel, as a result the crew began using our materials (new broom, paper towel, etc.). We spoke with Michael, the owner, in regards to the situation and were refunded the cost of the broom at the end of the project. The cleanliness of the job was very poor. The tile guys were cutting tile outside a second floor window resulting in debris on our new roof, demolished material was thrown out of our 2nd floor window again resulting to debris on a our driveway and front lawn in addition to scratching the wood floor. Windows were left wide open(screens up) while the central AC was turned up on high. While carrying up our cast iron tub, the wood floor on the stair landing was scratched. Michael tried steering us away from getting a cast iron tub due to its weight regardless of the fact that it is good quality. When the job was all done, it was discovered that some of the glass tiles used for the accent were scratched. Seeing as the job and the tile were expensive, we were not happy about this. Michael began making excuses but it then end, he credited us for the trouble. There were times when the crew would not show up to work when they said they would be there to get the job done. This was especially the case when a month after the job was complete we had to call them back to fix a leak in our kitchen ceiling. The radiator was not tightened properly during reinstallation in the renovated bathroom resulting in a leak when trying to turn on our heating system. Power was shut off to our kitchen with a hole cut out of the freshly painted ceiling for approximately 2 weeks while we waited for AD to fix the damage. We understand that there were other jobs being attended to; however the lack of urgency is what made us upset with the situation. The workers would not show up, after hours of someone waiting to let them in the house, only to find out that they weren't coming when we reached out to them. This is not very professional, and should be addressed immediately. It is important to remember that although the company is "still young and the crew is learning", the satisfaction of the customer is what drives your business. UPDATED 1/10/15 (In response to provider's comments) The comments that were made on our behalf were based on our experience and were done so at the request of the company owner. The facts listed are accurate; however, the excuses or reasoning provided from the owner in response to the issues were not. For paying over $12,000 for the job we expected a higher quality of work and professionalism. Again, this is based solely on our experience. We do not appreciate your comments and the way in which you blamed us from the start. This can become a he said/she said game; however, we will end it here and wish your company the best. In the future, we will not being using AD Home Improvement. Every customer is entitled to their own opinions and for that reason, you will continue to receive business and I'm sure you will continue to get good and bad reviews. Use the comments provided to better your company.

From the very beginning we tried explaining the home owner that a construction project would always have some impact. With that said; we saw from day one they would simply have complaints after complaints and there would be nothing that we could do. 1.- We did use their broom only to clean up the area outside of the bathroom since our broom was damaged while working that day there. We asked the lady who was there (a relative of theirs) to let us use it... The workers in the house did use some of their paper towel just to dry their hands after using the basement toilet...... In the end we had to compensate them for its use... A clear abuse. 2.-We did cut the tile by the window to only minimize dust in the house and not have the guys run up and down the staircase ( which could create other issues). The customer complained about the dust created by cutting of the tile that was laying on the shingle roof .. We told them that this would be washed/hosed away at the end of the day by our guys. Which we did. 3.- After the first two days of demolition ( during which time we have a roll-out container in the driveway); we ask all home owners to designate an area for us to store 2-3-4-5 bags of debris that normally get hauled away at the end of the work week. This is only requested so we don't have to have a container in the driveway for the entire length of the project ( which is normally an inconvenience for most homeowners). This customer complained and requested that all the debris would be out of there every day. Something unreasonable. 4.- The window in the bathroom needs to be left open while the guys are sanding down the sheetrock and painting the walls... This customer complained why during the entire day we had the window open... I told him that it was inhuman to ask not to have it that way. By the way.. The fact that we are a young crew does NOT mean we are new in the field.. The newest guy in the crew has been with the company for over 4 years.. AD Home Improvement has been doing business in NJ for the last 12 years. I don't know where he got that from. I could go on and on responding to all of his complaints... We simply think that there is nothing we could have done to make them happy... Let you be the judge.. In the meantime we are continuing to work hard to get other good reviews as is the norm in our company.. I hope we can help YOU.. our next customer.

As first-time home owners who work full time we selected AD for their efficiency and business-minded approach. Mike is constantly in communication via email, phone and text, which is not only rare but was vital to us. And all details were clearly outlined in a formal contract, which kept everyone honest. We hit a few communication speed bumps when a less experienced project manager stepped in to support during execution so we recommend keeping Mike as involved as possible and to meet any supporting project managers in advance. Mike is also as efficient as can be. Our project came in on budget (plus extras we added along the way) and on schedule (plus inspection hold-ups from the city.) Because of AD's focus on efficiency, it's helpful for the detail-oriented home owner to monitor and ask questions. Mike is very good at finding solutions and happy to discuss revisions within scope. Mike's designer/architect Larry was fantastic. Just when we thought we had thought of every option, Larry would close his eyes and see one more idea that made it all work. He is a true pleasure to work with and I only wish we would have kept him more involved during execution. AD's process of using all home-owner selected and purchased finishing materials was also fantastic for owners who enjoy the design process. All in all, we are in love with our new home! Mike, are you ready for phase 2?

My experience with A D Home Improvement was a very professional experience. Quality and value are not often mentioned together; however A D Home Improvement provided a fantastic, user friendly, beautiful detailed work of the family bathroom. My thanks to Michael, Oscar and Carlos to name just a few of the workman who were able to complete the work on time, on cost and at a professional standard. I was recommended by a friend to this company and I will be doing the same for my other friends.

The process was easier than expected. AD Home Improvement helped us select the cabinets we desired (using its vendors) and got precisely the look and price we were looking for. They pulled permits and removed all the debris. The remodeling took 4 week precisely because we followed their advised and got all the finishing material before the physical work started. There were a few hurdles down the road but we managed to quickly solve them ( corroded pipes in basement and concealed ductwork in the way where the new hood would go). We had gotten other quotes from other companies that were just a bit lower; but we felt confident with the way Michael handled the first few meetings and walked us thru the process. In the end; the finished product is exactly what we pictured in our heads. We love our kitchen. We highly recommend this company.

Michael and his crew did it in the time they promised and were very professional. Michael's ideas to re-design our small non-functional bathroom made all the difference. Now my husband and I have our own spaces and wont fight over the small shower and single vanity. Now we have to small separate vanities and a shower area with two shower heads that can be used simultaneously. We are both very happy with the final result. Two thumbs up...!!!
