Description of Work: Skydell's installed gutter helmets on our house some years ago. Work was excellent, price was fair, although I don't remember what it was, and the work has held up until now. Dealings with the company were cordial and satisfactory.

Description of Work: I used Skydell some time in the 1990's for installation of Gutter Guard and for making a sump in the cellar and installing a sump pump. Their prices seemed reasonable and the work was performed in a professional manner. All in all, I found them very responsive.

I was pleased with them. They did the work efficiently and within the time and budget specified. I have no complaints. Everything was within code.

They took the sand to blow off the dust and blew it into another room into the basement and all over everything that was stored there. They tried to use our shopvac that did not have a filter on it, which is now basically ruined. They wanted the money up front. I could understand if it was for materials, but they wanted about half the money up front. Only one guy showed up to remove carpeting, and then they said they didn’t do that work. I would not recommend them. Even with all the confusion, I think they could have done better. At one point I wanted my deposit back to go with a company that would do the work even though they were more expensive. The mess they left was weeks of clean up. I feel they took on too many jobs that they couldn’t handle and because of that we lived in a mess for weeks. The sheetrock looked good. The attitude of the owner was not helpful.
Description of Work: It was during the damage from hurricane Irene and I know everyone was swamped. I was not happy with their service. It took them forever to get the job done. When they put in the sheetrock, they had people come over, and just left an awful mess.

First I need to offer you two apologies, one from Skydell Contracting Inc. for not giving you the best service possible and second from me directly for not treating you as you feel you should have been treated. It is not our practice to offer anything but the best possible experience and this has helped to give us an A+ rating with the BBB. As you know all too well Irene did bring with it a level of stress that we don’t normally experience. Yes we took on a lot of work but there were a lot of clients who needed our help. Many of them had lost their homes totally with a much as three feet of water on their first floor. We did our best to take care of everyone equally but it seems that we could have done better. I didn’t know about the problem with your vacuum and I would like to offer to buy you a new one. Just let me know the make and model and I will do my best to get something similar if not the exact same one. If there is still a mess in your storage room from the dust created by the spackling process I would also offer to send over a cleaning person to finish the clean up process. I believe in the end the quality of workmanship was there but it seems that we could have done much better with the process. Please accept my apology and let me know if there is anything else beyond the replacement of your vacuum that would help return Skydell Contracting Inc. to your good graces. We never like negative feedback but if it helps make us a better company and me a better person that at least we have gained something along the way. If after we make restitution for your errors by way of a new vacuum and a cleaning service you could find it in your heart to retract or amend your comments on Angie’s List it would be greatly appreciated. I think if you check with your neighbor you will find that the experience that you had with Skydell Contracting Inc is not typical of our company. Thank You Richard A. The gutters leak and when they came out, they told me that it was my fault because I did not hose out the gutters. The reason I got the gutter covers was so I wouldn't have to worry about cleaning them. The prices weren't that bad, but I certainly did not get my money's worth. I would not recommend them to anyone.

I JUST REVIEWED YOUR FILE AND SEE THAT YOU CONTACTED OUR COMPANY TO COME OUT ON 7/25/2007. HERE IS THE NOTE FROM THE TECHNICIAN, "CB DONE BY BILL ON 7/24/2007. FOUND THAT SYSTEM HAS A DIRTY NOSE. EXPLAINED TO CUSTOMER WHAT THAT IS, THAT IT ISN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND HOW TO CLEAN IT. ALSO EXPLAINED THAT WE OFFER THE SERVICE FOR $75. CUSTOMER WAS VERY UNHAPPY AND NASTY, WE GAVE HER A NOZZLE AND SHE SLAMMED THE DOOR ON ME. 25 MINUTES." YOU THEN CALLED US AGAIN IN SEPTEMBER FOR THE SAME ISSUE. WE SENT A DIFFERENT TECHNICIAN OUT AND HE REPORTED BACK THAT HE CHECKED THE GH SYSTEM, FOUND THAT THE GUTTERS ARE CLEAN AND NOSE OF THE GH WAS CLEAN. WATER TESTED AND FOUND NO PROBLEMS. THAT WAS 9/25/2007. WE HAVE NOT HEARD ONE WORD FROM YOU GUYS SINCE THEN. LET US KNOW IF YOU ARE HAVING AN ISSUE WITH GH SO WE CAN HELP YOU. WE CAN'T FIX WHAT WE DON'T KNOW. **AS OF DECEMBER 31, 2007, WE ARE NO LONGER DOING GUTTER HELMET. AFTER 17 YEARS OF INSTALLING GUTTER HELMET WE DECIDED THAT THE OVERHEAD COST TO RUN THE GH DIVISION WAS JUST TOO GREAT. BETWEEN THE PAYROLL, TRUCKS, GAS, INSURANCE AND OTHERS, IT WASN'T WORTH IT FOR US ANYMORE. WE ARE NOW SOLELY CONCENTRATING ON OUR REMODELING DIVISION WHICH IS CELEBRATING ITS 20TH YEAR. Skydell Plumbing LLC said they would come and repair our toilet. They never showed up and never called. We tried to reach them and see if they were still planning to come and we never got hold of anyone. This is very poor business and we won't be calling them again.
