I am extremely frustrated. I called Dead River Company almost a month ago to set up new service. The person on the phone took my information and ran a credit check. I opted to pay for a whole year's worth of oil in advance and also needed a propane tank for a fireplace. The person who opened my account said that a service person would call me back soon to make an appointment to set a propane tank and inspect my oil tank. No one called back. I received a contract in the mail and forgot about it. A week later, someone called, asking to see if I was still interested in opening an account. I told them that I was still waiting to get an appointment to inspect my oil tank AND set the propane tank. They told me they would call back that afternoon or the next morning. I was called back by Nichole who left a voicemail message saying that my oil tank would be inspected AND the propane tank would be set the following Monday morning. When I spoke to Nichole on the phone, she repeated that someone would come by to inspect my oil tank AND set the propane tank. * So, just to stress the point, 4 different times I was told that someone would set the propane tank during my appointment * I took the morning off of work. The service man came to inspect my oil tank, but did not have a propane tank. He said I would have to call to make another appointment. After 3 phone calls, I have an appointment in 3 weeks. I explained to Nichole that SHE told me the propane tank would be set today. She told me that they may have to pull a permit and that is why it wasn't set - SHE is the SAME person who left a message and made the appointment to set the propane tank a few days ago! She did not apologize, she just made excuses. I would have walked away happy if they would waive a service fee or at least say they were sorry for the mixup. Seriously - do these people want new customers? Why do they make it so hard to set up a new account? Now I have to take another morning off from work! This is not easy for me to do. When I first called, it was early September and 90 degrees. Now it is freezing at night. Having the propane tank set would be rather nice. I am so frustrated now. I wish I could get my money back and choose a different oil company.
