The people were nice,  seemed knowledgeable and very community connected and oriented, seemed reasonable, and prices seemed right, but my Mazda might just be a major lemon.  I don't recall exactly how much the whole thing cost, I think around a $1000 by the time we got done (which I think included an oil change), but I had to come back I think like 4 or 5 times and had to wait most of a day once, (That day getting to see Joe Biden's crazy long motorcade with what seemed like an endless stream of state police cars drive by in the process, which was interesting .  I would have missed had they not let me set one of their chairs outside for air/comfort, which was nice, as is having a gas station next door for anything else you might want for snacks & drinks).  It was a long drawn out process, due in part to my schedule and travel issues, but I got what I needed in the end.  I tried a few other shops in other parts of NH because I had to travel a lot at the time, and the others just charged me money and I got nothing out of it but a code diagnosis you can get free at local auto part stores, and no more info than I already had and just suggestions/plans to change the same parts I'd already changed.  At least Mitchells stuck with me until it was inspection ready.  They were nice enough to install the plates for me which I was struggling to do , due to rusted and seized up bolts for holding the plates.  We replaced part after part and it worked long enough to get inspected.  The codes it threw just didn't match what was wrong because we replaced the parts the computer said and it still has a check engine light issue now in summer 2013. with the same codes. Check engine light eventually went out and it passed the tests; at least it passed NH inspection for that year and it got me 1000miles down the road with no problem and still is running ok.  The state I live in now isn't so picky as NH I guess as it passes even with the check engine light on.    This Mazda has stumped many people, experienced mechanics and numerous shops and in the  short couple of years I've owned it, it has cost me $5000 in various repairs (shops in Virginia, North Carolina, New Hampshire) which is more  than the $3000 I paid for it.  So my car isn't really a good test of their abilities.  Since I live many hundreds of miles away  now I'm not likely to use their service again, but if I were traveling in the area and a car ever broke down near there, I'd very much have it towed to them as they are the only ones I really know in southern NH area.

I use them all the time. I would highly recommend. They are honest.

We have used Mitchell Automotive since we moved to Grantham.  Charlie (owner) runs a first class operation!
Last Saturday our son's front end was sounding strange, we thought it might be the tire pressure.  We drove the car to Mitchell's and Amy not only showed us where the correct information was but took the time herself to check and fill to the required air pressure for all four tires.
Mitchell's has done several repairs for us in the last 2 years and we never hesitate to take our vehicles back for service.  It is wonderful to have an honest, hardworking mechanic that you CAN TRUST working on our vehicles.
