,I had several estimates before deciding on Gentry. Dean came to my home and gave me great information, a reasonable price, and good financing. The gentlemen who installed the heat pump were courteous and efficient. Thanks to Dean, the same men came back to make another filter for me. I would highly recommend Gentry.

They did repair it in about 15 minutes when they came with the needed part 5 days later. It was the coldest weekend of the winter.
Description of Work: We had no heat for 5 days. Through miscommunication we understood that they would repair our heat much sooner than they said. The part had to be ordered and the repair person gave us wrong information about orderering it.

Jay the technician arrived ahead of time scheduled. He was very knowledgable and fixed our heat pump and checked the ductwork. He recommended a service contract for checking the air conditioner and heat pump yearly. The amount was very reasonable. Would suggest them to friends.
Description of Work: Heat pump was not working properly.The auxiliary heat setting kept coming on.

Professional job from start to finish. Gentry's estimator (Dean) was on time for his appointment and did a superb job explaining all our options for a new heating/cooling system for our home. Dean prepared multiple estimates to allow us to compare the costs of our various options. Over the next few weeks he was very responsive in answering our questions and once we decided to replace our system, Dean promptly prepared the final work order and scheduled installation. The two workmen who installed our system were very professional and courteous. They arrived on time, kept us informed on their progress, and consulted with us when they had installation options to ensure the final installation was to our liking. Gentry gave us an additional 2% discount for paying cash, gave us the manufacture's promotional discount up-front, and filed the rebate paperwork with the electric company for us. Overall: An excellent experience. We highly recommend Gentry Heating.

Twice a year service has been on time and thorough each year. We have had one non-routine problem resulting in the HVAC unit tripping off under severe heating and cooling conditions. After 3 visits it appears that the problem has been solved without the need to replace the unit as recommended by another company.

They come when they say they're going to and they spend a good deal of time inspecting the equipment. They are very careful not track dirt in the house and they're very neat and clean up after themselves. They always take the time to explain things to me. I've been pretty happy with their service.
Description of Work: We have a contract with them to come and inspect our heat pumps twice a year.

We have an annual contract with them. The last service was covered under the contract. They charge additional for any parts if any. My husband usually deals with them. Our overall experience with them has been excellent. Their price is good. The quality of their work is excellent. They are very responsive and punctual. They are very professional.
Description of Work: We use Gentry Heating Inc for heating and air. They last came out in November 2011.

This was on a Saturday morning, it was hot and muggy. At 8 AM I called the service number and a very professional young man helped me out.
Description of Work: Our Heat pump had run too low on Freon, thereby making the coils freeze up and not cool. Service man came out discovered the problem.

We have a yearly contract with them. It is under $400 for 3 years. They are very good and reliable. They don't try to sell us stuff we don't need. We have been very happy with them. A person that has lived here all his life recommended them and they have been excellent.

The installers were efficient, courteous, and cleaned up after themselves. The supervisor who bid the job followed the entire process and was readily available for questions, including after-hours. I called them for an estimate because three other owners in my development think so highly of this firm. I'm very glad I did and would certainly recommend this company to others.
Description of Work: Gentry put in a dual system heat pump and furnace for me. This system is more efficient than my prior unit and more efficient than the system proposed by a competitor (who also wanted $2,500 more for the job).

It was a service call. My experience was quite negative. They came out and told me that they would get back to me with an estimate to repair, but they never did. So I had to call them and there was still no response, but I got a bill from them for $80. They finally responded to me after repeated calls. I wouldn’t recommend them to others.

Terrible. He NEVER GAVE ME the opportunity to know the price. Just charged me $459.00 for nothing. If he had just gone in the house right after he pressurized the lines, he would have heard exactly where the leak was coming from (LOTS OF HISSING FROM THE LEAK). No die or waiting another cold cold week to come back was needed. Will never let them within 100 feet of my house. He did say he would talk to management about crediting me my money. They called back the next day - said nothing about crediting me any of the money - but tried to set up another appointment. I WENT THROUGH THE ROOF
Description of Work: Check the Heat pump as to why it was not heating correctly. He said he would have to pressurize the system and add a die to locate a leak in the coils and come back in one week and look for where the die left its mark(s). No estimate of cost just (30 minutes of work) and a bill for $459.00. TOTAL RIPOFF. The die and gas leaked out in one hour. I called back, He said he couldn't come back for three (3) more days to check on it.

He called because he was going to be a few minutes late to see if it was still convenient, and was careful to finish in time for me to be at a scheduled appointment. He was friendly and informative and overall a pleasure to deal with. Gentry has been my regular maintenance company for about six years, and the quality of the interactions has been consistently good.

The technician (Tommy) was at my house for a little more than an hour checking everything carefully to make sure the furnace and all components working correctly. In my opinion, money well spent. Will come back in the spring to check out air conditioning, etc.
Description of Work: Completely checked my furnace from top to bottom. Money spent partly due to installation of new parts as the old ones had worn out (furnace is 12 years old). Found loose wires causing insufficient heat....fixed problem immediately.

I did not go well. In my case, the service manager did not follow through on what he said he would do. I paid much more than was necessary.
Description of Work: We have an old furnace. We needed a repair because it would not run. The repairman came out and fixed it and it was fine. However, we were scheduled for a routine service about a week later and he said to keep that appointment. The routine service is provided by the company (separate company) from which we buy our heating oil (they pay for it). In any case, we pointed out to the repairman, when he came for the routine repair, what the previous guy had just done. This is where it went downhill. He replaced items that had just been fixed and for which I had paid for. After his visit the furnace worked irregularly for two months. I had to consistently go under the house and press the reset button. Additional repairmen made visits doing things that did not work. Ultimately, they sent one of their senior guys, who when he looked at it knew exactly what the problem was, fixed it, and everything was fine. The service manager stated, after one of our conversations, that I would receive a credit for one item that did not need to be replaced. He did not keep his word and I eventually paid for the part, $90.00. I know I paid for other things that I did not need to pay for.

I called because our upstairs was not cool at all. The tech was very nice, he looked around, studied a few things and recommended a service contract for $368/yr. He suggested that a cleaning, included in this contract might solve the problem. He did not locate the filter; I later found it myself. The filter was filthy! The vents to our upstairs produce little to no airflow and the return is way too small to remove any hot air. Therefore, cleaning the unit will not in any way address the problem.
Description of Work: A diagnostic visit as our upstairs was not cooling despite the unit performing well for the downstairs.

Tech was excellent, professional, he was here a long time and it didnt matter how long he was here - he charged a flat rate. I was impressed by that. He was thorough and he did a good job.

Their prices seem high because they really drag out their time in order to get the full amount of the hourly rate. I do not think that is right, but the work was done with quality and in a decent amount of time so I was satisfied.
Description of Work: Our air conditioning unit was not distributing clean air, so they repaired it. We have 3000 square foot home.
