The young man from Gentry Heating & Cooling, Inc. called before arriving and arrived at the time he said he would be here. He was courteous, respectful of our property (wore slip-on covers to his boots while in our house), and thorough in his examination of our furnace. He showed me a defective coil and demonstrated its voltage loss. It was right at the minimum required to function properly. I elected to replace the coil. It cost $88 for the coil. Everything else was in good order, and he left me a filter to replace ours when it became dirty.

I called before they opened to report my heat wasn't working. An after hours person answered the phone. I gave her the details. She said she will relay the message and someone will get back to me ASAP. I received a call within 15 minutes. She said she would have someone out within 30 minutes. The technician arrived, got right to work and fixed the problem. Terry was very respectful, down to earth explaining what was going, and had an awesome personality. I felt safe and reassured he was looking out for my best interest. Oh, he was always putting his plastic covers over his shoes when he came in and out of the house from the garage even though I told him it wasn't necessary.
Description of Work: Inspected heating system and replaced the pressure switch.

Very knowlegable and friendly technician, answered all my questions and showed some important features to me to be aware on my system. He pointed out a faulty humidifier unit on my furnace that had mold in it that had apparantly had never worked properly and removed it. He also showed me how to save on electrical bills by changing the settings to manually override the heat pumps system to gas only for just heating. I signed up for the two year contract since my units are 9 years old. I used the Angie's list discount, got a reduction on the the repair visit and parts by signing up for the contract, and also used a $50 Ingles receipt coupon.
Description of Work: Serviced and repaired a heat pump (two visits), and I signed up for 2 year contract for two heat pumps and a gas furnace HVAC system.

I bought my house about 2 years ago. Gentry has been out to do repairs and service my older gas furnace on several occasions. I'm very pleased with the quality of their work. I will definitely renew my service contract with them. I always refer them to my friends and coworkers.

I called last Friday to try to set up an appt. they didn't have anything available during the day until Wednesday (today). They were scheduled to come between 1-2. its now 2:45 no call no show. I had called them to find out whats going on and the only answer i got was that he would be here between 3-4. Didn't even get an apology for missing their appt.

They were great, spending a couple of hours each time to check everything out, then explaining it all to me and answering my questions. I would highly recommend their service.
Description of Work: My first year in a new home (20 year old house), I took the opportunity for an Angie's list Big Deal to have both my air conditioner (heat pump) and my gas furnace heating system checked out, cleaned and serviced. They came once in May (for the air conditioning) and then, six months later, in December for the heating system. They were great.

It was great. They were able to fix the problem and they didn’t charge me for anything beyond the deal. They were at the house for probably 1 hour. It was excellent. They came out within 2 hours of purchasing the deal.

Scheduled for December 13, 2013 from 12:00 to 2:00PM. Nobody showed; called company; stated they show schedule for December 27. "Don't know why this got rescheduled". I advised that it is customary to notify customer who has already paid if there is a schedule problem. I advised I have emails confirming schedule date and payment made. Stated they "Don't know what happened". Stated they will get somebody out here if possible even if it is tonight. I really don't want to spend the rest of my day waiting for this company to do what they were paid to do. Company called back states they will have someone here between 4 and 5 PM. He did show up; was very nice, explained everything he did, wrote a receipt for a part he replaced which was 88.00; but could not break down the cost of labor and part separately.

I'm sorry that you had to be inconvenienced and I thank you for your understanding. It was human error on our part. In terms of our charges, we use a Flat Rate system which is the industry standard for fair and ethical pricing of repairs. The old fashion system of charging time and material is really not fair to customers. Every customer should pay the same price for the same repair regardless of how fast or slow the technician works. They scheduled me for 5-7 pm. By 7:15 I had not heard anything from them and called the office. The answering service was difficult to hear and seemed irritated with me for having a hard time hearing her. I only heard from the technician after she contacted the tech to let me know when he'd be here. I received a call from the tech 10 minutes later letting me know that he could be here within 25 minutes. Which would put him here about 50 minutes after the end of the window I was told. So, I waited the entire day for service on a furnace that is not working, during a night in which the temperature is going to be in the mid 20's. So we are going to have another freezing cold house because this company couldn't make their appointment, or even let me know that they were running late. I will be contacting a different company tomorrow morning for service. Hopefully they can deliver on such a minimum promise as showing up. There is absolutely no excuse for not picking up the phone to let the client know you're running late. Had he even done that I would've found that acceptable.

Gentry is fantastic! The project manager, Dean Owensby, and his crew kept me informed every step of the way. Dean costed out four options for upgrading my 1300 square foot house to gas heat and air conditioning. His crew arrived as scheduled and on time. On days they were behind, the crew boss called to let me know. All the major work was done in four days as promised. At all times the installers were polite, personable and very tolerant of my presence and questions. When there was a communication problem with the Power company finishing the electrical work, Dean got the problem solved within two days. I feel that I have a trustworth advacate and helper in keeping my house comfortable.
Description of Work: Gentry installed a hybrid furnace heatpump system in my home. Gentry Removed old oil furnace rewired the house for 220 electrical service installed a heat pump installed a gas furnace for back up connected a new heat supply vent in the living room installed a larger air return system insulated all heat supply tubing checked the system for leaking with a blast test installed a sump pump system in basement cleaned up better than I have ever done in the basement

Mandated training at the home office caused the technician to be at least two hours late...a business that has these needs (understandable), MUST coordinate schedules (customer scheduling promises against training schedules)....MERGE THE SCHEDULES so the person scheduling customer calls knows exactly when training is scheduled so customer expectations are met... | |The technician went about the inspection very professionally, gave a complete written report with regular inspections cost shown....I have since contracted with this company for twice a year inspections....he did remove the main furnace filter, left it on the floor and gave a price for them to replace it..... I ordered a new one myself, but when I called to get instructions as to how to install it, I have not received any response....still have no filter installed...will try to call again....overall satisfied with service....if I can get the furnace filter installed, will use them again

I purchased an Angie's List Deal from Gentry Heating for $49 for a furnace or A/C tune-up, cleaning and inspection. These tune-ups also include cleaning and/or replacing standard 1" filters, as needed. John Tate arrived on time on Nov. 19 and was very patient and polite, taking the time to answer my many questions about heat pumps. Afterward, I realized that the Deal I'd purchased would not provide the extent of service that I wanted, so John said he could do a fall seasonal tune-up if I wanted to upgrade to an Annual Plan (this would also include a spring seasonal tune-up). I agreed and John proceeded to do the fall maintenance on my system. Meanwhile, I contacted Crystal at Gentry and asked if I could just pay the $60 difference between the Tune-Up Deal that I had already purchased and the Annual Plan Deal which they were also offering at that time. I was pleasantly surprised that they agreed; this saved me $70! Every aspect of the job was completed professionally and well above my expectations. I will definitely maintain an Annual Service Agreement with Gentry Heating, and will highly recommend them to anyone else!
