Description of Work: My air conditioning was frozen and very clogged and not producing any air at all and I had a little flooding in the bottom and they came in the very next day after I submitted the request for service and he was very professional and he fixed everything and explained what we needed to do to prevent this from happening again

 + -1 moreWe paid for a service call but wanted advice on the condition of the two heat pumps we had. Dwayne was very thorough and explained our options and gave us his opinion on the life of our 24 year old units. After signing the agreement, the installation crew was here the following Monday and worked three days to get everything changed out. All staff we had contact with was polite and helpful. This was a lot of money we hated to spend but feel confident we got good service now and in the future.

 + -1 moreMike was great to work with - when he came out to service the A/C units, he was on time, professional, and very helpful. He gave me an estimate to have our a/c drain rerouted (it was draining onto the back deck) and explained all that would be done. I scheduled that and when he came back, he and his colleague completed the work w/o complication. I plan to use Gentry in the future for all our a/c and heating needs.

 + -1 moreIt went very well! Very responsive and articulate intial contact. The workers that came to actually do the work, were here all day long (took lunch break), working their butts off. They were very conscientious and respectful and really worked hard. I sure hope they get paid enough, but had a feeling their wages could be better. I would definitely use Gentry again and I would also recommended them to anyone asking, as well. I would also encourage Gentry to give their workers a raise!
Description of Work: Inspected central AC & natural gas heater unit. Discovered problems. Replaced unit with new heater unit and welded AC unit on top of that (rather than me buy an new AC unit, my choice).

I preferred to have someone other than the original owner's HVAC service company give an honest appraisal, so as usual I headed to Angie's List for advice. After seeing the innumerable A-rated reviews I had to select Gentry. True to form they have been great to work with the 2 visits I have had them to the house for the maintenance tune-ups. They are professional, courteous, & took time to explain the system to me since I had not had a dual heat pump/propane furnace before. One reason I opted for the service agreement is that they provide 24 hr emergency service & never charge overtime. The emergency service was particularly attractive due to my being at the house only part-time, thus if it failed when I was there during a short wk end stay I could call on them for help.
Description of Work: I am under a 1 yr semi-annual HVAC MAINTENANCE CONTRACT that I paid around $140 for In Oct 2013 for the whole year that included both heating (propane furnace & heat pump) & A/C.  + -1 moreServiceman called ahead & said he was free to come earlier if we wished. Unfortunately, we were not ready. He was fine with coming at scheduled time. After he arrived I said I wanted to sit for a minute to explain that it was a recently purchased house and what my needs & expectation were. He was agreeable. I desired to go with hime into the crawl space to learn some things about this furnace and A/C operation. That was fine also. Whereas the home inspector had written up a condensation water pump as needing replaced this service man noted it was only a loose connection. He took care of it. He explained the workings to me & discussed various options for the humidifier. Then, I left him to his work. He did a great job. Better than my experiences in TX had been. I was very pleased with Dewayne's patience, work and explanations. The price was what I expected. I am considering having the humidifier installed.

 + 0 moreExtremely thorough examination of the primary pair, in the main part of the house, and the second pair in the addition. I had forgotten we had the second pair, and they gave me a very reasonable price on including all 4. Also an explanation of whether or not we should replace one AC unit that had some damage to the outside coils, which we will wait on until we run it in hot weather. Price listed above does not include replacement parts. AC units were cleaned as well.
Description of Work: Cleaned 2 furnaces & 2 AC units, replaced failing parts, discussed possible upgrade of one AC unit.

 + -1 moreMy husband really liked him. He did what he said he would. He fixed things for a reasonable cost. It was a big deal purchase. We think we spent more than the big deal. It was a checkup and we knew there was a problem. The guy that we bought the house from had covered the air-conditioning unit with plastic at one point and then turned it on. So the plastic was melted on the thing. We knew somebody had to do something but that helped get us going. It was getting somebody out there that knew what he was doing. We were happy with him. At the time, we really felt the price was reasonable. We just think they were good.
Description of Work: We used Gentry Heating and Cooling Inc for a checkup of the air conditioner.

 + -1 moreOur furnace was made in 1974, a year before our house was built. It sounded like it was on it's death bed, which is what inspired us to call in the first place. We bought our home as a fixer-upper, and were hoping to get a little more life out of this *vintage* technology before replacing it with a heat pump. The technician was surprised to get the call in August (we were checking to make sure it was in good shape before temperatures started to drop in September), but was very pleasant and did a great job! He inspected the furnace, cleaned it, and replaced a few small parts. As a result it ran all winter without incident. We look forward to working with the company again when it is time to install our heat pump! Please note: Date and cost are approximate; cost was reduced by an Angie's List coupon
