They were here when they said they would be here, they did a professional job, the system works great - even in an isolated back bathroom:) We live at over 3,000 feet elevation, so on cool summers (like the one we have just had), the whole house dehumidifier has been great. The unit is very quiet and efficient. Whenever I had a question or concern, they would have somebody out to check. On the few cool days we had in the spring, it feels like it is going to heat well. We are very pleased.
Description of Work: Installed a Carrier Greenspeed heat pump, duct work, whole house dehumidifier, whole house air purifier, and dual zone capability.

They were fine. The repair person did his job and he did it well. They got the job done over several hours because they also had additional work to do on the system. The system is working fine now.

It went fine. Very thorough. Showed me a couple things to watch for. As they say, "first do no harm" so I was pleased. Had the usual pitch for the annual contract that everyone sells. Will most likely use them for the furnace in November.
Description of Work: Tuned up the A/C. I was a little confused as I didn't read the "Angie's" fine print and it was just for the A/C, not A/C and furnace combined.

Engineering data shows that your HVAC systems degrades in efficiency 1% per year just from wear and tear on the moving parts. I first called Gentry when I found a crack full of ice in my wall. Justin came out and looked at my wall and my AC unit and determined it was the apartment above me. Didn't charge me a thing. While he was there I signed up for annual tuneup, which Jeff came out and performed a week later, and did a great job. Very thorough, friendly, & professional.
Description of Work: I had my HVAC unit evaluated due to some ice I'd found on a wall. Then had my unit tuned up and some Freon added, which it was low on. Also had a capacitor replaced.

After repairs seemed to be no longer an option, the repair man told us he would have a "comfort consultant" contact us about options for new units (parts of systems), etc. My husband and I thought "Comfort consultant? Seriously? Here comes the second mortgage." Our instincts that the venture would be costly were correct. They told us the consultant would come to us, and the service would be free. We all know that nothing is free, but we had the consultation anyway based on the reviews on Angie's List. Those reviews seemed to say excellent service but costly, and they were right. We just tried to prepare for the cost. Our first electricity bill after the repairs was about half of what it normally is. We are already saving money. Don't be penny wise and dollar short with these people. They know what they are doing. I don't begrudge them what they charge. If they had any serious competition I would think differently.
Description of Work: They tested two broken A/C heat pump systems--inside and outside units. We spent a few thousand on testing the first one and making repairs. Admittedly, they told us the repair might not fix the problem. A few weeks later the second system began having the same problem; the first one exhibited the same problem it had previously. They told us the history of manufacturer that made our units. We ended up deciding to replace both systems because doing so so seemed the most financially intelligent option for the long-run even though that option wasn't cheap up front. Having said that, I have no way of telling wether or not they cost was good or bad other than they seemed honest, informative of all options, and not pushy at all. They even offered to a window unit for our bedroom until repairs could be made, but that move might have been to ensure we would not choose another company to make the repairs.

Their estimate for repairs was just too expensive. They were a couple hundred more than who I ended up hiring. The tune-up itself was good though. I would probably not hire them again because of their regular pricing.
Description of Work: I purchased a $49 deal for a 20-point air-conditioning tune-up. They gave me a quote for repairs as well.

My D responsiveness grade is due to the fact I had to call the office to get a price quote. Justin said he would have Wes give me a quote to fix our heat pump and also a quote on a complete new system that I requested. After waiting a week with no follow-up, I called the office to get the quotes. The woman at the office who answered the phone found no info for me and suggested I call Justin and gave me his cell number. After calling Justin, I got my quotes within 24 hours.
Description of Work: Justin, the service tech, arrived on time and did a thorough diagnostic check of our outside Trane heat pump. He was knowledgable and down to earth person. He didn't mind me looking over his shoulder and courteously answered all my questions.

Service Tech Mike from Gentry was outstanding. My air conditioner had been freezing up and not cooling the house. Two other HVAC companies made service calls ($$$) and tried to fix the problem. One company admitted that they could not find the cause of the problem and suggested replacing the furnace. The other company replaced a cracked evaporator pan and did a "disappearing act" when it came to solving the real issue - the air conditioner not cooling the house. Mike from Gentry inspected the system and confirmed that the refrigerant charge was O.K., checked the evaporator for leaks and made some other checks of the system during his inspection. Mike determined that the TXV (thermal expansion valve) was either malfunctioning or needed adjustment. Mike readjusted the TXV and changed the fan speed and PROBLEM SOLVED! The system has performed perfectly since the Gentry's involvement.

They arrived on time, were very professional, and did good work. They were neat and cleaned up after themselves. They were also helpful in getting the city out to get the permit for the work and I was happy with the work. I plan to use them again for routine maintenance going forward.

Everything turned out fine! They came out initially to diagnose the issue. They scheduled to come back out to fix the leak, but the technician got sick. Once they came out, they fixed up the unit and we paid additionally for the materials to fix the unit. We have hired them in the past. I like that they offer Big Deals.
Description of Work: I purchased a $29 Big Deal for a Heating or Cooling System Diagnostic. Our air conditioner wasn't working but they got it working!

My heat pump was absolutely fine before the tune-up, but it was 17 years old. 10 minutes after he finished the tune-up, the heat pump stopped working all together. The guy they sent out was only a tune-up specialist so he tried for about an hour to get the thing going again, but couldn't. I was upset because I had no ac at this point and I was not prepared to pay for expensive repairs. They had to wait on the arrival of a part to fix my unit so in the meantime they installed a loaner motor so that I would have air conditioner while the unit was broken and they couldn't get it repaired yet. I greatly credit them for this. They called in two repair specialists. The whole process took about a week and a half. They really seemed like they were trying to make it right. All the workers were polite, worked hard, and genuinely seemed like they wanted to help solve the problem. They installed a new heat pump and ended up only charging me for the heat pump part, not the entire labor. I don't know for sure if the tune-up was done carelessly, but in the end they really tried to please me and get everything working. I did have to spend $5,000 I wasn't expecting to pay when I purchased the tune-up, but in the end they provided exceptional service regardless of if they made an initial accidental mistake during the tune-up or not. I have never had another company work so hard for me. Everything has been functioning perfectly with the new unit. I would hire them in the future because, at this point, they know my system so well!

The team was professional and installed everything in a day. I did require an immediate follow up service call to level out the unit because condensation was not draining into the piping and the pump was defective. Gentry had a tech out to repair this immediately. I greatly appreciated this sense of urgency. I would definitely do business with them again.

July 24 I used the Angie's Deal to get a diagnostic visit for a heat pump that was really problematic. The technician (Rick, I believe) arrived right on time. He spent an hour & a half, most of it the crawl space, tracing the problem. He gave me a good description of the issues, and because the recent installation was probably under warranty (I just bought the house) he gave me the info I needed to approach the installer. Super-professional, knowledgable and never tried whatsoever to 'up sell' I would recommend Gentry to anyone.

They are very professional and do a super job. I appreciated them putting in the high efficiency heat pump because I got $300 back from the power company. I could not ask for a better company than Gentry Heating & Air. The family that owns it are wonderful people and have been on TV lately. They are just outstanding people and the salesperson went above board to make sure that I understood everything. He taught me how to operate the equipment and so forth. They were just perfect and I really like them. I don't buy anything before I have done some checking. I did check with some other companies and I had the best price and the best equipment.
Description of Work: We went with Gentry Heating to put in a new high efficiency heat pump that I needed. They took out the old unit before installing the new unit and then setting it up.

The man from Gentry was prompt and professional. He diagnosed the problem and gave us several options and prices for repair. Somehow, as soon as he left, the system began working flawlessly. So we can't complain. We will use them in the future. Seems like a professional operation.

It went pretty well. The technician definitely put in the time on each of the 3 units, but he failed to wait long enough to assess the freon level in one unit, resulting in his recommendation for a service call to find a leak in the system. Their leak detection expert came out about a week later, checked the system thoroughly and said that everything was fine and that there had been no loss of freon. He did not charge me for the service, which was great. However, the extra call did waste my time and theirs.
