Well, I am embarrassed to say it, but the unit hadn't been serviced in about 11 years. I had purchased the seasonal heating and A/C tune up. Mike was on time for the appointment. He started on the agreed service. Half an hour later, he was still checking and doing things, I went outside and asked him, if everything was okay. He responded with: "Everything looks good so far. Have you considered getting a new heating unit, which would be more efficient?" I replied, that for this year it was not in the cards. He continued to do this and check that. After a total of one hour of work, he knocks on the door. There he stand with his almost a page full of notes in his hand. I was not excited to sit down with him and to discuss his findings. He started going down his list: "This is good. This is good. This is good. This could be a little better, but considering it is an older unit, it is good too. This is good." It all ended up good. Wow! He also gave me some tips on what I could do on my behalf to keep the unit running in good shape. I made an appointment that day to have my ducts cleaned. Again, Mike and a colleague showed up on time for the appointment and I feel they did a great job! I hope, I will hear the same news on the A/C tune up this spring. But if this shouldn't be the case, I am more than confident that I will be treated with same courtesy, professionalism and honesty when I will be replacing my units this coming year with Gentry Heating, Inc. Thank you Mike!

Showed up early, did ton's of work to get the units running great for the summer. If you have an attic unit make sure you tell the scheduler to avoid the heat. It was 110 F in the attic for the maint. guy, but he soldiered on anyway and did a great job!

When we moved into our new home, our inspector recommended that we have our HVAC unit more thoroughly inspected. My very professional and prompt technician did a great job of cleaning my very ill serviced and extremely dirty HVAC unit. (The pump, initially caked in mud, literally looked like new when he was done.) When I asked him about our vents, he made recommendations, and mentioned (without selling) a couple of services that might be helpful in alleviating our allergies. He was knowledgeable about our unit and answered additional questions I had regarding its capacity, as we hope to eventually expand our living space. Before leaving, he offered a referral for other HVAC services I was interested in, made sure to review what he had done, reviewed the settings on my thermostat, and gave helpful hints about how to keep my energy bills low. I was very pleased with this service and will likely use Gentry Heating, again.

I had call Gentry's to make sure that the purchase covered routine maintenance, fall maintenance of unit. They said that it did, so I purchased it. However when they called me after purchase they said that it was for inspection, but wouldn't cover the maintenance.

We had a wet basement floor situation, caused by a blocked A/C drain pipe. Called Gentry, made an appointment. Bought two "special deal" coupons through Angie's List, thinking we had two problems. The repairman corrected the overflow problem, and left instructions to pour a half-cupful of bleach into the offending pipe. Payment consisted of the two coupons. Good job, rest of system in good shape.
Description of Work: The Gentry repairman cleaned out an algae-filled A/C drain pipe that was overflowing onto the basement floor.

Excellent! The work was done on time, professionally and neatly! When I made the appt. this morning the receptionist told me that someone could be here between 1 and 3. He was here at 1 on the dot and done within 30 minutes easily. He checked the furnace to make sure everything worked. Gentry has been a very good company to take over our heating repairs, etc. Very relieved that the heat works before we hit the winter!

Service tech arrived on time and was very courteous. Completed checkup on my gas central furnace and noted that the blower motor capacitor needed replacing. He had the part on his truck and offered to replace it. The part cost would be $122.00 (no additional labor costs; it's a simple plug in). Having had worked on electrical motors for years, I knew the capacitor cost about 1/10th that amount, so I declined his offer. He thanked me. We shook hands, he gave me a copy of the work order and left. End of story-- except that I copied the part number off of the capacitor and ordered it from Amazon for $12.77 shipped. I received an identical, brand new replacement capacitor 2 days later. End of story. BTW, do not install a capacitor yourself without disconnecting the power to the motor and shorting out the old capacitor first, to prevent receiving a shock. In my opinion, ensuring a safe installation is worth a little over the actual parts costs, but in this case, not the $110.00 extra the installer wanted. I cry "foul."

I could understand a low rating if we had not given you the upfront pricing so you could make your own decision. The price we charge for capacitor replacements is below the national average for such repairs. Our price includes not only the part, but the labor and expertise to install it safely, the tremendous overhead associated with in home service - including the liability insurance and, don't forget, the one year parts and labor warranty that doesn't come with a part ordered on-line. I have found that I can purchase the air filter for my car about 5 times cheaper than the local oil change provider will install it for, but because I am not an auto mechanic, I choose to pay the extra cost because I know that the proper part will be installed and that the oil change provider will stand behind their work. Again, I am sorry that you were offended by our pricing. Hopefully our professionalism and great service that you experienced will prompt you to use our company in the future.
