We have had some very bad experiences with contractors at our home over the years, so needless to say we were skeptical of having anyone there but we needed a heat pump. We selected Gentry because of their Angie's List reviews and we could not be happier. We were lucky enough to have salesman and former tech, John Tate come to our house for the initial consultation and proposal. We made our needs clear and buried John with specific details and concerns we had about placement, accessibility, noise, you name it. He took it all in patiently and in stride and answered all of our questions. He spent well over an hour, after 5pm to acoomodate our schedules. He made helpful suggestions but was not pushy at all and we never felt like someone was trying to sell us something we didn't need. He emailed us a proposal around 2:30 that morning! After that meeting he came back out with the contract and answered even more of our questions, and continued to set our nerves at ease. We scheduled the install for 3/24/2015 and he even came back out to us Friday 3/20 when we had some final last minute worries, concerns and questions. As promised he showed up before the installers the morning of 3/24. The installers Nicky and Robbie arrived shortly after. As for Nicky & Robbie, these were two of the most respectful and professional workers we have ever had in our home. They were polite, answered our questions, we felt no need to "hover" or frequently check in. They worked diligently and quielty, and they were never "put out" the few times we did come down to check in or pass thorugh. They placed everything EXACTLY where we asked, they taped and secured everything beautifully. And the room was probably cleaner when they left than it was when they arrived. They did not leave a spec of anything, not a trace they were even there...except for incredible new heat pump and air handler. Nicky gave us a "tour" of our new equipment and answered any remaining questions we had at that time. A few days after, we had some concerns that the dehumidy feature on the new t-stat was not working properly. We emailed John and he had another tech, Duane, come out that day He showed up 5 minutes before John said he would there, and gave us an entire detailed walk through of the new t-stat. Everything was working well and we then understood how to utilize this feature that we had wanted. You will not find a more professional, courteous, punctual or kowledable group for your HVAC needs. And a very big thank you to John, Nicky, Robbie & Duane for all of the help, hard work and patience!

Couldn't have gone smoother!
Description of Work: I purchased a "Deal" in"which the tech did a general diagnostic for a low price. After finding that the filtration system needed cleaning desperately, he did a great job cleaning it for just a small fee extra. I purchased a maintenance agreement from them and now get twice-yearly servicing. They are very prompt, professional and courteous and I'm glad to have them in my corner!

Having not been entirely satisfied with two previous HVAC servicers/contractors during 25 years as Asheville residents, we selected Gentry Heating from Angie's List as our new provider. Terry Redmon?s service call was by far the best we?ve ever had. He clearly explained regular maintenance steps for us to perform as residents. He also provided detailed consultation about HVAC issues that we?d been aware of in principle but never had properly diagnosed by previous contractors, let alone addressed. In some cases, work had been done that actually exacerbated problems. He said he?d have the company contact us to schedule an on-site analysis of what we need and how the work might be accomplished. We look forward to a long association with Gentry.

The technician arrived about 20 minutes early and introduced himself in a professional manner. He reviewed the inside of the home and inspected the duct work in the basement. He began immediately with the cleaning of the vents and returns in the upstairs of the home. He continued with the cleaning until is was complete. He then moved into the basement to clean the larger air supply vents and the heating element. He cut and then repaired access areas into the system. This was done in a very neat fashion also. He completed the cleaning using a commercial vacuum system and did a great job in cleaning up after his work was finished. Finally, he disinfected the entire system using a spray type system. He reviewed his work with us and offered us a service plan for up to 3 years. Mike had us sign off on the work order and thanked us for the business. I highly recommend using Gentry Heating for this service.

It worked out really well. The gentleman they sent out was great. I didn’t have any dislikes. The service person was polite, efficient and explained what he was doing. He did an exceptional job. It was two Big Deals each for $149 as I have two units. Other than that there were no additional charges.

They were professional from the minute I took the phone call till the guy came out and serviced it. It was just wonderful. In fact I bought a service contract from them because they were so professional. When I made the appointment, they told me exactly when they were going to be here and the technician called me half an hour before and said they would be here between eight and twelve. The technician called me thirty minutes before he arrived. Their trucks are actually marked and their technicians wear shorts with the name Gentry Heating and Air so you know that they are actually from that company. They also tell you the day before, when you schedule, the name of your technician which I like so you know who is going to show up. I wanted to understand how the gas furnace worked because it is the first time we have a gas furnace and he took half an hour explaining and showing me how everything worked which was really nice and what things I might be able to look at myself if I had problems, before calling them. In general, there were some duct work that was detached and he taped that and he checked all the supplies and returns. He went beyond what he needed to do to get my problem resolved. He gave me some value added service beyond my problem. I read the reviews on Angie’s List on Gentry’s Heat and Air and the thing I liked is for every negative comment, the owner responded in detail of how his people interpreted the issue, how it was resolved. It was very informative and that was another reason why I called them after I had a bad experience with another company.
Description of Work: I went with Gentry Heating and Air. They did an inspection of the heating system and provided an annual contract to service the heat and air. They did fix the gas furnace.
