They were very professional. It was a difficult job in that they had to dig an approx. 2 ft. deep hole to properly install the sump. This required an auger and had to be used in a very small space. It was very messy but the took great care to insure the mess did not get dragged out into the carpeted living area they had to travel thru to get to this area. (they also had to drill thru a cinderblock wall in this small space and tie in the drain line to underground drain pipe outside the house) They did everything they said they were going to do - no surprises. They also purchased a higher end sump pump at my request that was quieter and will hopefully last longer - of course I did pay more for this which was fine. In the end, they did what they said they were going to do and exceeded my expectations. I was very happy with the work and would definitely use them again.

Very impressed. I contacted them via email and Keith showed up to quote on time as expected. The install took about a day and a half. Don and his crew were very professional, they did a great job of removing and reinstalling the existing sod and everything was cleaned up before they left. One of the drain boxes floated out of the ground on the 1st rain after the install. I sent an email to explain the problem and Don was here to resolve the issue the next day, he set the drain box in concrete at no additional cost. Overall I was very pleased with the service, I would have liked to pay less :-) but their price was competitive with other quotes I had received.

The work took 2 days because our house has a crawl space. The crew came early in the morning as scheduled and stayed all day. They worked until the job was done. The crew were polite and respectful and knew what to do. The crew manager came with them in the morning and then checked up during the day. The work site was cleaned up when they left.

Keith said that he would recommend against doing any work to improve the french drain. I very much appreciate his integrity and his willingness to turn away business because he didn't feel that the proposed project would solve the problem.
Description of Work: Keith Locker came to our home to evaluate whether he could improve on an existing french drain in order to avoid occasional water seepage into our home. He gave us his honest professional advice, which was that improving the french drain was not likely to help, because of the terrain and water flow patterns near our home.

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL! They were the ONLY company willing to provide a quote sight-unseen. They made a recommendation for our crawlspace without ever seeing it and recommended a solution several Angie's List Providers recommended against. Upon further research, it was clear to me they were not looking to solve my problem but rather to profit off the relationships they've made with realtors and brokers in the area. Upon scheduling them to inspect my property and give me their own formal estimate, and to understand the solution they were offering, we scheduled them to come on 8/20. However, they showed up with a full truckload of materials and workers - ready to do the job! The gentleman told me to call the President, Keith Stone because he was under the impression the work for the vapor barrier was going to be done. I asked him to explain why this solution was being suggested; especially after several companies said a vapor barrier would NOT solve the problem; he either didn't know or didn't want to answer. I called Keith Stone that morning on August 20th and as of September 6th my phone has NOT been returned. The gentleman from Shamrock told me this was their mistake but that they ordered all of the materials for the job - and that if they did not perform the work that day, the men would go without pay. (Almost like he was trying to make me feel bad for THEIR mistake) Then, he told me that even though it was their mistake, it would likely take at least another 3 weeks for them to come back out for an estimate. I never heard back from them. Based on these criteria, I would recommend others avoiding them at all costs: #1 - They'll provide quotes, property sight unseen #2 - They're very connected to local realtors and brokers and get tons of referral business from them. Several companies that provided quotes told me they will not work with realtors/brokers because they try to get them to make situations look worse/better when someone is buying or selling a home. #3 - When they supposed to come to give an estimate, they showed up as if they already got the job, ready to work #4 - I called the President of the company with an urgent situation on 8/20 and still have NOT heard back #5 - When they make mistakes, they don't make it right. #6 - POOR Customer Service PS: THE PROVIDER RESPONSE BELOW IS NOT ME! I'm the owner of the home and I have no children; nor did they install any pumps or do any work for me. No one from Shamrock ever met with me or spoke with me prior to showing up to my home. I didn't want a pump; I wanted a basement moisture solution. No one from the company ever returned my calls. These people are horribly disorganized - as their response shows.
Description of Work: Shamrock Waterproofing provided a quote, sight unseen in June for the property I was in the process of purchasing. They were the only company to provide a quote without actually physically seeing my property. They work with realtors and contractors and took my realtors measurements to provide a quote.

Response from Shamrock Waterproofing
I meet with (Member name removed) and did a site visit. I explaned options and took demenisions of basement. She informed me that she only wanted a sump pump and not a drainage system. I got a call from her daughter from out of state saying that they wanted to have a quote for the drainage system and pump. I made quote based on my measurments I had taken when I was on site. She emailed me back and said to proceed with work. The work was scheduled about two weeks out. My crew showed up for install and Mrs Halprern said she did not know we where coming on that day and that she just wanted a pump. The miss communication was between her daughter and her not with us. The crew installed the pump for her as she requested for $450.00. And the pump is functioning properly no problems reported.

The crew was unable to come on the day scheduled due to the rains in the area. Keith, the owner, reduced the estimate by 10% for the delay and inconvenience without me even asking. They came the next day and immediately got to work. The gentleman leading the crew did some artful work cleaning up and regrading a drain opening so not only is it more functional but it looks better too.

We had some concerns about moisture in our crawl space after a HVAC service tech told us we had a problem and tried to cross sell us. I called Keith and he came out and took a look. He evaluated the crawl space, and told me while there was a slight musty smell; that our crawl space was fine. We talked through some options and pricing but in the end he reccommended that we do nothing. Keith could have sold me an unnecessary product or service; he didn't. He was completely honest and looked to save me money. He wouldn't even accept a small amount for his time or gas. If you have a waterproofing problem, call Keith at Shamrock first.

Keith Locker from Shamrock was very responsive to the estimate request in October of 2012 and honored the estimate when I scheduled the service in June 2013. The rating is factored on the information below which I shared with Keith in a follow-up email. I received no response from the email. 1. I expected that someone in leadership from Shamrock, would have been on the job site the morning of the work to review the estimate and talk with me about the work being done and addressing the insulation question raised in an earlier email about whether the insulation needed to be replaced. The workers were congenial and worked hard but to have no one else show up to review or inspect the work was not acceptable. 2. The workers indicated they had finished the job but had not "sprayed and wiped the floor joists with shock wave anti-microbial cleaner, EPA registered" as specified on the invoice. They were unaware of this item on the invoice and apparently did not have the product on the truck. I called Keith Locker and he did have someone contact me and came back the next day to complete the job. I went under the house to inspect the mildew removal and it appeared satisfactory, but also left bits of insulations wet and hanging in spots. After the crew left, I went back under the house to make the area look a little more presentable, pushed up some of the unsightly, damp insulation, wiped the dirt off the new vapor barrier. Again, the job was done, but...there was a chance for it to feel like a quality job and it just didn't. 3. My biggest concern is that the sump pump was connected to a socket addition to the light bulb with an extension cord. I was given no instructions on how the sump pump worked and had to request the printed information on the pump since none was left with me after the initial work. The sump pump information clearly states: "Connect the pump DIRECTLY to a grounded, GFCI outlet. Extension cords may not deliver sufficient voltage to the motor pump. Extension cords present a life threatening safety hazard if the insulation becomes damaged or the connection ends fall into water. Make certain the electrical circuit to the pump is protected by a 15 Amp or larger fuse or circuit breaker." The workers were dismissive of this concern as was employee who came out the second day. I understand that Shamrock doesn't do electrical work but the electrical requirements need to be made known to the customer in advance to insure safety. This seems like a liability to the company to install pumps and connect them as was done at my home. I disconnected the sump pump until my electrician came and connected the pump directly to a newly installed, grounded, GFCI outlet. The remedies Shamrock proposed for my crawl space were appropriate and the work was completed, but it was not the professional and quality job I expected after my initial estimate meeting with Keith Locker, nor did it meet the Angie's List review expectations. In particular, my concerns about the sump pump, while acknowledged by the workers were dismissed with comments like, "We been doing it this way for many years with no fires. We have liability insurance." That was not an acceptable response to an obvious safety concern and an installation approach that did not meet electrical and safety requirements.

The biggest problem was communication. I called and he gave me a day he would come by to take a look. Keith is running a tight ship here. He was very easy to work with and knows his stuff. He showed up on time and had the job done in far less time than I anticipated. They dug a 15 foot deep trench to install the french drain a drainage trench all by hand. I have never seen guys work this efficiently. Their stamina was something to behold. They had to clear a number of shrubs and they left the place looking nice and tidy. I would definitely use them again.

Keith estimated the job and did it for the price he estimated. His folks were timely, extremely neat (despite having to tear up concrete and pour concrete in a basement that could only be accessed from inside), and worked efficiently. We were very pleased. When I had a few questions after the job was completed, Keith was very responsive to those as well.
Description of Work: The entire perimeter of the basement floor was trenched just inside the basement walls, french drains were put in leading to a sump pump they installed, wicking was placed at the wall/floor joint to draw water into the french drains and the drains were re-covered in concrete with the exception of the wicking, which is left open to catch any water that seeps through the wall. As promised, the floor has remained completely dry. I did not realize that this process does not stop the walls from weeping, but this is not a problem if you don't put anything up against the walls. We are extremely pleased.

I found Shamrock on AL, and contacted Keith Locker (owner) for an estimate several weeks ago. He was quick to return my call and set up the estimate visit. After the estimate, I decided to move forward with the job. Keith was flexible w/ scheduling and worked around a week when I was unavailable. I wanted to be home when the work was done because even though this was a simple job, I am a picky customer! The crew arrived about 20 mins ahead of scheduled time today. 5 guys + Keith to get things started. Nothing technical here for this job. Just some shovel work and connecting drain line. Despite that, the crew was very efficient and quick. I didn't really have any interaction with them. They did the work, cleaned up, and were gone. I will point out that they were very careful to use plastic over my grass to pile their dirt onto, so cleanup was great. When they were done, you really could hardly tell that any work had been completed. I was very happy about that! I will also point out that Keith (owner) is a very personable guy. Just the type of guy you want to do business with. Gives you a comfort level that the job will be done right, on time, and at a reasonable price. I will be calling Shamrock again if I have similar work that needs to be done in the future.

Initial quote was close to final invoice. Had others come to look at the problem and didn't even return our call. Shamrock right away understood what needed to be done and offered a solution. They were recommended by others in similar business areas. They had to dig up our recently planted landscape at front of our house, so I was nervous, but they did a super job of taking care of the new plantings, putting them all back just where they were supposed to be; everything seems to be fine now, a month later, and growing healthy. They had to dig down along our basement wall to re-do waterproofing that was allowing moisture into our basement area. Did a great job, did it quickly and cleaned up after themselves. They were prompt, worked fast, and got it all done to our satisfaction. We would recommend them to anybody.

The crew was very punctual and worked continually until the job was done. All dirt was piled on plastic sheets and returned to the trenches so that there was hardly a trace of digging. All concrete and old bricks were picked up and removed from site. A number of rocks from the trench were piled to the side at my request. The job went very smoothly and everyone knew what to do and were busy. The supervisor, Donald, did not mind that I stayed and observed for the last two hours. He answered my questions and was amenable to my requests for finishing the job (removing an unneeded brick pier and rebricking some holes in the foundation.
Description of Work: We had exterior waterproofing performed on our small house. This entailed digging to foundation on three sides, spraying a tar material and installing a membrane to the foundation. Then drain pipe was installed with gravel, covered with fabric and filled with dirt to grade. A small concrete slab was removed from the front stoop and another 5x8 piece of concrete was cut and removed next to the driveway and side door. Pipes were extended to a lower area of the back yard to end in a small dry well.

Had water leaking into the bottom level of a split level house from crawl space side. Called in two companies to give estimates. Both were timely but one wanted a complete overhaul of house drainage which would have been cost prohibitive. Shamrock offered a more cost-effective solution and was agreeable to other fixes we wanted not directly related to the issue. Installation was done quickly and professionally roughly two weeks later (intial review was right before Thanksgiving). Work was completed in one day with minimal disruption. It has been a year now and there has been no re-occurance of the issue.
Description of Work: Fixed water issue in crawl space. Pipe and gravel put in the perimeter of the crawl space. Sump pup installed. New vapor barrier installed. Installed in-ground pipes on outside of house to control gutter runoff. Removed old floor insulation and installed new R-19 insulation.

I would definitely hire Keith and his crew again. Not to say nothing went wrong, but when it did, he and his crew did the right thing. We had gotten a couple other estimates and Shamrock was the most reasonable in that they didn't suggest solutions that were overkill for our specific home and drainage issues. Keith came out not once but twice to give us a second estimate when we had more questions and needed more clarification on the job. Together we came up with a set of solutions that were a good fit for our situation. His crew showed up when they said they would and worked very hard doing work that is not very pleasant. They did everything they promised except the vapor barrier was not at 100%. There were some gaps left and I sent Keith an email describing the gaps and sent him a photo. He sent someone the next day to cover the gaps completely AND leave us some extra barrier in case we found more. Now THAT'S customer service!

He made an appointment to do the job on a date certain. They were here by 9 AM that day. He had 4 people who in a very organized way dug the trench to below the footings. Then they completed the waterproofing job, and installed a new pipe to drain away from the foundation. The clean up was perfect. It only took them about 6 hours to do the job. A couple weeks later, there was water in the garage. They inspected the situation and came back to extend the drain pipe about 15' and with about 6" greater slope. That seems to have corrected the situation. I was impressed with everything about the way Shamrock handled this job. I recommend them wholeheartedly.
Description of Work: We had a seepage at the floor of our basement garage. Kevin, the owner of Shamrock Waterproofing, inspected and bid the job. He recommended hand digging to the footing drain; replacing the footing drain pipe and gravel; spraying the foundation wall with a waterproofing polymer; applying a waterproofing and insulating blanket to the foundation wall; and daylighting the foundation drain.
