Nicolas and his crew did a fantastic job on the overall project. I contacted him during a busy part of the year, but he still made some time within a day or two to meet with me at my house and go over what I was looking for. Within a few days of that initial meeting, Nicolas provided me with a formal quote for the work and an estimated time frame for when he could perform it. After agreeing to a date, Nicolas kept in touch with me with one or two items I needed to follow-up on and he met with me closer to time to go over the scope of work again. We made some last minute changes, some from suggestions Nicolas had to enhance the drainage in the yard and some at my own request. Nicolas was able to fit in the additional work without delaying the overall project. Once he started, he and his crew were very professional, efficient, polite, and accurate with the work performed. In the end, I was very pleased with how it went - Nicolas delivered exactly as promised. He also followed-up with me a day or two later to see how everything was going and after one night of heavier rainfall, he followed up once more to see if the drainage worked as designed. We have not had a problem with the drainage since. In addition, the yard looks great with the new additions. We couldn't be more pleased.

Excellent. I bought a "Deal" from Angie's list with this provider for a paver patio. Nicholas scheduled a consultation with me within a few days, and he came up with a plan to use pavers to create a sidewalk and edging to extend my flower bed. I had to pay a little extra to get what I wanted, but the deal was still below what most other hardscapers had bid. Nicholas scheduled the work within a reasonable time and his crew did an excellent job. It was all done in one day and it looks fabulous. I highly recommend Nicholas Hardscaping!

It went Perfectly. They were in touch with me on when to begin work and they flexed based on how the screen porch construction was going. They adjusted without complaint and the. They met my deadline to be done in time for my daughter's graduation party. They were hard working, polite, and did such beautiful work. The patio is stunning and the craftsmanship is completely top notch. I was away for business when the work was done and my mother in law could not stop,raving about how hard working and professional the crew was and I personally enjoyed owing with Nicolas. He completely understood what I wanted even better than I did and he was just so darn nice. I will hire them again for sure.

Nicolas was great to work with. He came out and checked out the spot in our yard where we wanted the patio put in. Once he came out and measured out the size of the patio we decided we need to go bigger than that. Unfortunately, it was pretty costly to expand it out to 12x15, but Nicolas worked with us on the price and was very generous in the deal he offered us. We agreed on a price and set a date to get the patio installed. After setting everything up, we went out to Nicolas's truck where he showed us some samples of the different pavers that we could choose from and we made a decision on which one we'd pick. We set a date for May, but unfortunately the weather did not cooperate. We then set a date for June and again had the installation pushed back because of weather. We set another date in July and again it was pushed back because of weather. We then set another date (July 11) and Nicolas promised us he'd get it done either on that day or that week, depending on the weather. Fortunately for us, a spot opened up on July 8 and Nicolas and crew were able to come out and get the patio installed within 7 or 8 hours. They even did a few different things that help with the drainage in our yard (guards by the house, a nice ledge at the front of the patio to keep water from running into the house). They started at 6:30 and were finished by the time I got home from work just before 3 p.m. I'd be lying if I said we weren't upset about the constant date changes, but obviously the weather isn't something that can be controlled. In the end, the project got done and it looks amazing and that's what counts. I'd say that Nicolas may have been a little ambitious in his scheduling for the summer, but to be fair, we did pick the busiest time of the year to get the patio installed. I'd suggest maybe booking in the fall, winter or early spring. The summer is clearly a busy time. Regardless, we're very happy with the work that Nicolas and crew did and we're super excited to have a nice patio in the backyard now. Nicolas was super friendly and very easy to work with. I definitely recommend Nicolas' Hardscapes & Drainage.

Nicolas and company were very professional. Very easy to contact and he responds to inquiries quick. He uses his professional/business email to communicate, very detailed. They showed-up when they say they will show-up, prompt and excellent service. Their work is as planned. No debris left in the yard. I will hire them again and is highly recommended.

Nicolas helped us with the design and showed us samples of his work and options we might consider. He answered all our questions about what he was going to do, how long it would take and what it would cost. He was always professional, frank and very helpful in completing the design. What we most appreciated was his artistic talent and construction knowledge that produced an attractive paver patio that should last a very long time. When I discussed my concerns about some edging around the patio, Nicolas said, "Don't worry, it will look good and will be built the way it should be. And if you don't like it, I will do whatever is necessary to make you happy." There was no need to make any changes because Nicolas knows what he is doing and has high standards for the quality of his work, which is reflected by his employees. We are very satisfied with our new patio. Nicolas was a responsive professional and a pleasure to work with. Except for Mother Nature not cooperating, the project was started and finished on schedule.

I can't say enough about Nicolas and the admirable way the conducts business. Because of his high rating on Angie's List heat first had warned that he wouldn't be able to get to my project for 3 months. But somehow he managed to arrange his schedule and got it done within 2 weeks of his inspection. He also pointed out various options for addressing the problem but reassured me that the least costly one would do the job satisfactorily. And so it has turned out. Nicolas was cordial and personable the whole time. He also remained on the scene to supervise his crew throughout the job. I recommend him enthusiastically to anyone considering grading work.

The crew reported very early on the first day and got right to work. They moved the dirt on day one and then used surveying equipment to achieve the correct grade and laid the crushed stone bottom layer. The crew cleaned up all of their work on the first day and left my yard and driveway in great shape. The next day was a washout due to rain. The third day, the crew returned very early and laid the patio stones, cemented in the edging and the new step and put the sand between the pavers. They were done by lunch time, including cleanup of the whole area, driveway and parking pad. They were fast, efficient and meticulous in their work and the patio looks great. I would hire Nicolas and his crew again, and overall they did a fantastic job.

I knew when I decided on my project that it was a busy season for landscapers and I might not get the project done this season. After working the phones for a week, where I was calling all the landscapers from angie's list where most were going to voicemail or they were asking for two-three weeks for a consultation appt, I called Nicholas landscapes & drainage. The call was picked up right away and Nicholas was willing to meet me the same day. After meeting and talking to him, I liked the way he explained things and we went over the things I wanted done. Nicholas right away gave me an approx. cost and said he will get back to me with an estimate in a day or two. Promptly he gave me the estimate which was in my price point and I agreed to the project.He said he was backed up 4 weeks and he gave me the date when the work will start. Few days before the scheduled start date he called me and said they would start but the weather is not good and has to move it by couple days. On the day when the worked was to start, promptly at 6:30 am Nicholas guys came and started work. They finished their work in 3 days. My wife was particularly amazed at their efficiency and professionalism. The crew was meticulous and their expertise was on display when we were watching them work. They cleaned up everything after the work was done and helped me patch spots in my lawn with the grass seed. Overall we are very satisfied with the project done my Nicholas and his crew.

Nick and his team built a beautiful Patio in my backyard , and it is so beautiful and caught the attention of my neighbors but this is not the only point I would like to make but also I have to mention how professionals, quite and respectful they are, and the time frame was so accurate , I would highly recommend him and his awesome team for any one interested in having a wonderful patio, and by the way I will use them next year for an extension!

Nicolas (owner) and his crew arrived at 6:30 in the morning (right on time) to resolve a drainage problem / issue that we have been having in our back yard. While his crew were unloading their gear and equipment, Nicolas and I looked over the area where the drainage issue was occurring. He quickly came up with a solution on the best location to place the 6" drainage line, a drainage box along with where to place the lines for the gutter downspouts. After agreeing with his suggestions he and his crew quickly went to work. After a short observation there was no doubt that Nicolas and his crew were very experienced with this type of drainage work. Before they got started they had to remove a couple wooded sidewalks so that they could gain access for the drainage lines for the gutter downspouts. Using a small Bobcat excavator, they quickly dug the two gutter downspout and 120' long main drainage line along with location for drainage box. After this they assembled and placed the box, main drainage and two gutter downspouts pipes. They then filled dirt by hand around the pipes making sure to fully compact the soil so that in future if driving over this that it would not damage the pipe (by crushing it). After making sure the soil was fully compacted they then used the small Bobcat excavator to fill in the remaining soil. They reassembled the wooden side walks making sure they lined up exactly as they originally were (this took a little extra time to get right). After they completed the main work they took their time to clean the site along with raking the soil to make sure everything was neat and clean. He was able to complete the job by Noon, which I though was impressive. Meeting Nicolas and his crew was such a pleasure! By nature I am very particular when it comes to doing projects to make sure that things are done right - this is very important to me. After meeting and working with Nicolas I quickly learned that he operates in the same manner - meeting expectations along with taking the time to do the job right is VERY important to him. Its something he takes very seriously, which means a lot to me! I was so impressed with his work that before he left I got him to give me some estimates for doing a stone paver sidewalk and some rock hardscaping (around couple flower beds). I will definitely will be getting Nicolas and his crew to come back to do some projects in the future! Fantastic job Nicolas!, Thank you!

I don't know where to start bragging about these guys and their excellent craftsmanship. First of all, the initial meeting with Nicolas...he was prompt, gave some wonderful insight into drainage, (although we have had a LOT of experience with this) really listened to what we wanted and gave us a plan that incorporated everything we needed. He took his time and went over our entire yard. He gave us the price, which we felt was expensive, but gave us the confidence in him to feel like the job would be well done and worth it. WOW! it was so worth it. When he and his crew showed up (again on time...6:30 AM) they looked as though they had a blueprint that each of them was following. They started with a Bobcat with a backhoe attachment and started digging trenches that were about 2 feet deep and followed with some of the crew with shovels cleaning it out until it looked sculpted out instead of dug. One of these trenches was about 100 feet long. Installing the boxes and drainage went without a slip. All of our downspouts from our shed/garage and house were then connected to these drainage tubes. They then dug out our gravel drive and put in what we call "speed humps", covered them up with crush and run, tamped it down with their magic machine, covered it back up with our gravel and except for the little elevation you could never tell they were there. This will divert the water that has in the past flooded our drive and continued under the deck and onto the front yard. This seems like enough, but wait, There's More! Where the drainage was the worst, up against our house, they prepared it as before, drainage pipe and all. They covered it and dug out an area for our patio and walkway, putting in gravel, sand. landscape fabric and more. Then we got a beautiful cobblestone look that wrapped around the house. And I have to say how wonderful all the guys were, friendly, but very professional. My grandson (age 7) was here one of the days and he wanted to add that they "work well with kids". Well to sum it up, this was the best experience we have had with any craftsmen. And they truly are craftsmen. In fact our only complaint is that we now want a larger patio away from our house and we have to wait till August to get them back. But they are worth it and no one else would be considered. Thank you Nicolas and crew!!

After reading the excellent reviews on Angieslist, I called Nicolas. He returned my call promptly and I explained the serious erosion problem which had developed in the common area of my home. Nicolas came by the same day. The erosion had created trenches. My neighbor had the same problem and they installed a dry creek bed with river rock. I wanted similar. Nicolas quickly assessed the problem and he was able to explain exactly what needed to be done, and where the project would start and end. He also explain what needed to be done to address the drainage problem around my home and on both sides of the driveway. We agreed to cost, and I received a written estimate the next day. We agreed to an install date. Over the next few days I emailed Nicolas several times with various questions - how much rock would be used, size, color, etc. I apologized for all the questions, but he was very responsive and assured me I was not bothering him. In one of those questions I asked if he could draw a picture of how the rock bed would look. He couldn't provide a drawing, but he did better. He emailed pictures of similar projects which also showed the exact color and size of the rock. I was impressed, felt at ease, and no longer worried. Prior to the install date, Nicolas emailed the time he and his crew would arrive. He and his crew arrived on time and began work. He dug and installed the dry bed with beautiful river Rock which matches the home exterior. The completed project matches my neighnor's bed exactly. There was a lot of dirt from the digging. Nicolas and his crew spread the excessive dirt In the yard and covered it with pine straw. You can't even tell its there. He also seeded the area around the bed, watered and covered it with pine straw. He installed the drainage piping for the downsprouts around the house and covered them so they are not visible. I really couldn't visualize the work on both sides of the driveway. Nicolas installed drainage piping and river rock on both sides of the driveway and it is absolutely beautiful. This was an extensive, all day project. I am very pleased with how my yard looks front and back. Nicolas listens and he knows exactly what he's doing. He is professional, responsive, polite, and very customer service oriented. His work is outstanding, and I would definitely call him again for other projects.

Nicolas and his team completely transformed our dull uninviting landscape, on the side and back of our home, into a completely functional and inviting space that truly serves as a focal point of our property. Nicolas provides an extremely high customer-service level experience, from the initial conversation of listening to your wants/needs of the project (making recommendations where needed), and working with you to ensure your vision can be turned into reality. He communicates with an appropriate amount of touch-points through the job to assure you are satisfied with his progress. We gave Nicolas our "rough idea" and inspirations for the property...we worked together to refine...and he and his team turned those into something truly remarkable. Nicolas and his team were timely, prompt and his team worked hard. They maintained an orderly job site with the only presence of them being here when the job was done was a truly trans-formative ready-to-use space. I will have Nicolas back again to finish off the rest of our landscaping needs and without hesitation would recommend he and his team to anyone.

When I purchased my house, it had an ill-kept natural area nestled between the attached garage and a wall of the house. Water that flowed into this area from the gutter was trapped by a parking pad and sidewalk, meaning it stayed constantly marshy. The two part plan developed with Nicolas was first to channel water out of this area by placing drainage lines underground to handle water from the gutter, then to replace the natural area with a paver patio area that would sheet water away from the house while also providing a nice area for potted plants and the like. This review is for the second half, the paver patio installation, as I've already reviewed Nicolas' services for the drainage work. First I selected colors from a pavers that Nicolas gave me. I chose a dark border with a lighter interior pattern that was within the price range offered. Nicolas' crew came and dug up the area, removing the old plants and an old tree stump. They were *very* careful using their mini-bucket-loader not to damage the nearby freshly poured replacement parking slab. They even placed mats under the loader's treads. The underlayment under the pavers was specifically leveled such that it sheets the water that falls on the surface away from the house, and the pavers and the pattern used look *excellent*. I was giddy the day I came home to examine the finished product. Nicolas is, as always, exceedingly pleasant to deal with and always professional. He and his crew also clearly care about their craft. As noted in my last review, I already plan to use Nicolas' services again in the future for further paver and drainage work.

Nicolas installed a patio in our back yard, and also solved some drainage issues we were having. Throughout the process, Nicolas was professional, polite, and very responsive by email and phone. After giving him a general idea of what we wanted, Nicolas thoroughly explained our options and gave us a great design plan. The project took less than two days to complete, and we now have a great patio with much better drainage in our back yard. My house is on a hill, with the front facing uphill toward my neighborhood road. As such, water coming down the hill needs a place to go, and the water coming off the roof of the house and exiting the front gutters only makes this worse. A sort of nook in my house where the garage meets the house was especially bad, with the dirt in the crawlspace staying pretty constantly wet. I contracted with Nicolas to bury drain pipes that would serve the three downspouts on the front of my house to drain the water to the side of the house, down the hill, and to also grade the front to improve drainage by giving the water a steeper path to exit. Nicolas and his crew showed up at the agreed-upon time on the agreed-upon day and were done by midday. I'd marked where my well line and lamppost power wire exited the house, and they were careful in their digging to make sure the lines weren't damaged. They also pulled up a portion of my internet cable line to make sure it was kept clear of the digging, and they safely reburied it when the work was complete. The whole area was then covered with straw and seeded. It was also necessary to saw through a portion of my sidewalk and that was patched with Quikrete (with it known at the time that I have plans to eventually replace the sidewalk wholesale, so a color match was not a concern for me). I was very well pleased with the work and glad the downspouts no longer exit onto bare dirt. Nicolas is very professional in his demeanor and I was highly satisfied with the interactions and with the work done on my lot. I've already made plans with him to install pavers in the front of my lot, and I'm sure I'll use him again in the future. Definitely recommended.

Nicolas was on time ans communicated with me before he showed for the initial estimate. When I became undecided about which brick texture and color to choose, he invited me to his house to view his backyard which had many different types to choose from. He then gave me my estimate and scheduled the work date. He and his men showed on time and began work as soon as they arrived and finished in early afternoon. They cleaned everything up as if they hadn;t been there at all. I am very particular about the work that I have done at my house, but i would not hesitate to hire Nicolas again. He is professional, willing to please and does terrific work. I give him and his men an A+

Came out for free site visit, sampled the existing driveway, gave me a quote. Showed up on the day we agreed to after rescheduling due to snowfall, then rain forecast. Completed work, and the rain fell for several days, and the driveway looks as fresh as the day he completed the work.

I can't say enough good things about working with Nicholas. First and foremost, the work is GORGEOUS! I can't believe how beautiful the brickwork and patio look now. He did an expert job of making everything blend in with our 1930s home. Also, Nicholas is a real expert when it comes to drainage. He absolutely knows what he's doing and he's able to communicate what needs to be done and why. (Also outlines options which is so helpful.) He and his crew expertly disguised the huge system of pipes they installed. You'd never know they were there. I also have to comment on the process of working with Nicholas. He's a great communicator...explains everything. And he and his crew are polite, tidy, and responsive. He will repeatedly say "i want you to be happy". And he means it. He re-did a couple of things for us that were not what I had envisioned, and he does it all with a smile. He truly aims to please. I've owned houses now for too many years to count, and I can honestly say I have never had a more positive day-to-day working experience with a contractor. Great job all around!

Nicholas' work is outstanding. He met with us beforehand on several occasions. He made great suggestions. On the day of the work, he and his crew were there on time. They did beautiful work, completed the project on time, and left the place all cleaned up. I highly recommend Nicholas to anyone.

Nicolas and his excellent crew returned to do a second drainage project for us. Recent heavy rains had revealed the need for a way to carry excessive rainwater away so it would not flood into the basement. Nicolas responded very quickly, as usual. He recommended a catchment basin with a pipe that led down the hill away from the house, and a few days later we had a solution to the problem. But he went beyond what he had promised to do. Without our asking him to do so, he repaired cracks in the foundation of the porch where flooding had occurred. He checked and cleared a downspout drain. He had promised to clean the gravel in the drainage system he had installed earlier and did so, but in addition he promised to return with some new gravel to replace, at no additional charge, some that I had allowed to become clogged with debris. Nicolas runs a fine operation. He knows what he is doing, and I trust him to do what he says he will do.
