DECK CREATIONS

Tommy was very enthusiastic and responsive at the beginning. He came to our house to discuss the project and gave us a written estimate within about a week. About 2 weeks after we signed on for the job, his subcontractors arrived. The first or second day, they presented us with a $3200 increase in the job's cost. It was for replacing the decking and support posts from the old deck. We had talked to Tommy about it but he didn't say whether it was necessary or just optional. When the men arrived to do the work, they were convinced we would not be happy with the finished product without replacing these boards. Work progressed well - the workmen were diligent, and worked very hard despite hot, hot weather. Overall we are happy with the final product but we did have to argue to get some molding & beadboard replaced in the kitchen (where the window & door had been). We also wish we had had a more detailed estimate at the beginning. Overall, we are very happy with what we have.
