They were great! They were on time. I had 2 units and they charged $59 for each unit. They were very thorough and cleaned everything. They did everything they said they would and I felt like they were very honest. I had a very good experience.

I spoke with Deena and Sue at the office and they had Chris dispatched to the house within 45 minutes. Chris arrived and was cheerful and professional. He took our unit apart and immediately identified the problem. He took the time to thaw out our system and then clean it out. He then diagnosed the problem as a bad capacitor, 2 lbs low on refrigerant, and a bad breaker disconnect box. Although we didn't realize that the breaker disconnect box was bad until after 6 pm, he did not pack up for the day and tell us that he would be back tomorrow with the part. He immediately went to Lowe's to purchase the part, came back, and we had our A/C back and working! Chris was very helpful, and explained what he was doing each step of the way. I would highly recommend Cape Fear Air Conditioning & Heating Co., Inc to anyone!
Description of Work: Chris thawed out our unit, cleaned all the coils, replaced a capacitor, added two lbs of refrigerant ,and replaced the breaker disconnect box.

The provider promptly came to residence to examine the issue with our AC unit. It was an old unit (20 years) and upon inspection, we were advised that replacement would be our best recourse. They take a video of where the problem is on your unit and play it back for you to see. They basically give you a play by play. After we told them we wanted a new unit, they send out a Manager to come to your home to discuss all of the choices in units, payment options, etc. They work on your time-table and are a customer-based company. They don't sell you anything you don't want. They are prompt, curteous and professional. I would definitely recommend them and use them again. We were more than pleased with the entire process.

Called for estimate, salesman came out within a couple of hours. Salesman was very knowledgeable, courteous and helpful. After talking with us for a few minutes and finding out what we wanted, he did his measurements and what not and then made a presentation to us on what we would need size wise. He then showed us a list of units explaining the pluses on each one and the differences of each versus the other. He compared and explained all the efficiency ratings and features of each one. He helped us find all the discounts and deals that were currently being offered by the manufactures and utility companies. After we decided on the product we wanted, he set up installation for the following Monday, this was on a Thursday. They sent two crews out so the work would be done within two days. .The installers arrived right on time Monday morning, these workers were very friendly, courteous and very considerate of our home and furnishing. They never entered the house without putting on "booties" over their work shoes. They were very knowledgeable and efficient in their work and the equipment.. They cleaned as they went so there was never a mess. They kept us informed on the work progress. After they had completed the installation and had checked both systems out they explained all the aspects of the systems and how to use them. They helped me program the thermostat and how to use all the features on it, even after they left we had no questions because they did such a good job explaining everything. They did a final cleanup and left. You would not know they had been there everything was clean and undisturbed. We are extremely pleased with the Trane product and the staff at Cape Fear Air Conditioning and Heating.

We had a maintenance contract with a national company who also installed our current heating/AC unit approximately 8-9 years ago. This maintenance contract provided us with 24-hour emergency service. On a Monday evening as a snow storm approached, our heat went out. The following morning, we called the company early in the morning to let them know we had an emergency situation with no heat at all in the house, that we had a service contract and the unit was covered under an extended warranty. We were told that we would get a call back later that day, so I took the day off to meet the tech. We never saw a tech nor did we receive a follow up phone call. The next morning, my wife followed up and a tech finally arrived around lunchtime. He examined the system and stated that there were two parts that needed to be replaced to get the heat started again. He called his parts department and reported that both parts would not be available for another 3-5 days. Due to our office hours and business travel, my wife asked how we were supposed to keep the pipes from freezing and our pets cared for during the day and the tech referred her to his supervisor. The supervisor recommended space heaters until they could get the parts, which meant someone was going to have to be at home all the time until repairs could be made. Frustrated, my wife asked why no one called the prior day, and the supervisor told her that they didn?t work on Tuesday, despite being told repeatedly someone would be contacting us that day. She asked if we could pay for expedited shipping since we were facing single digit temperatures that week. His response: It was an issue with the manufacturer and he told her she would have to call his company?s parts department and the manufacturer. No offer to assist with this, the onus was on us to see what could be done. Yes, there were a lot of people without heat during the storm but this left us with the impression that they did not care about helping a long-time customer, even when we offered to pay for the additional expense. Fortunately, I was given the recommendation from someone at work to call Cape Fear A/C and Heating. Faced with the possibility of my wife canceling an urgent business trip or forcing me to take time off from work in the midst of a crucial project, my wife called the manufacturer while I contacted Cape Fear. The Cape Fear technician understood the emergency situation and agreed to come out that night. The contact at the Warranty Department for the manufacturer seemed surprised the national company couldn?t get the parts and advised that Cape Fear was approved to work on the unit under the extended warranty. The technician found one of the parts in stock we were told was needed to fix the heat and brought it with him when he arrived about 8pm. He thoroughly tested the system, including taking video of the work he was doing, and found that the other part did not need immediate replacement. He provided us with reports and technical readouts so we could be assured of no danger from carbon monoxide and took the time to explain what they all meant. He told us the second part would likely need replacement within the next year, but after exhaustive and thorough testing and examination, we were comfortable that it did not need immediate replacement and the system was restarted after replacing the part that he brought with him. The Cape Fear technician didn?t have to come out on Wednesday night to work on our system. Since we weren?t on their service plan, he could have put us on the schedule for the next day, or even later. But he understood the emergency situation and genuinely cared about doing the right thing for a customer, whether we had a service plan with them or not. That kind of service is hard to find and our technician proved he is that guy. When he mentioned Cape Fear?s yearly maintenance program and what it covered, I did not hesitate to sign up to replace the program we were scheduled to renew with the other company this spring. We?ll be using Cape Fear for all of HVAC needs in the future.

Chris did an excellent job, listened to everything I said about my attempts to fault check the system. Found the problem in the heating unit and replaced the parts. Office staff was great, setup a same day service/repair call and processed my payment quickly and without hassle.

He was really great. My wife and I were very pleased when he came over. We asked him a lot of questions, and he was very polite and he was great. I have their number, and I would call them in the future in a heart beat and have them come back out and do an inspection of telling us what we need. We have made a contact with him, and we would call them back. I thought the price was affordable, and I would like for them to come back on a recurring basis to make sure our heat pump is working okay.

He discovered that a capacitor needed replacing. We also have an issue with one of our coils rusting. He advised that if it were him, he would not spend that kind of money replacing the coil that is 11 years old because of the age of our system. He recommended that we replace the whole unit when we are ready. Our appointment was at 8am. He was here right on time. We feel we got a thorough inspection because he was here for two hours. He was very personable and we would call this company again.

My AC upstairs in my house went out in the evening on a Friday. They were the only ones open and when I called, they came out right away. The technician was professional and honest. Unfortunately, my AC unit had a more serious problem and would have been expensive to fix. After talking with the technician, I determined it was more cost effective in the long run to just replace my unit with an updated one. He called another technician, Shane, who made time on a Sunday, to come out and conduct an estimate. Shane was very professional and knowledgeable of all of the systems. I purchased an updated model and was given a military discount. My appointment was scheduled for a Monday; however, Shane immediately contacted me when there was a cancellation so I was able to get service earlier. Shane also took the time to bring me a portable AC unit until service could be rendered. On the day of the install, the team was very professional and cleaned up after themselves. They did put a hole in my wall though, but nothing I can't fix. Small price to pay for good service. I definitely would recommend this company to everyone, especially if you want fast, courteous, and quality service. I definitely plan to use this company again when I decide to replace my other AC unit downstairs. I might as well replace it before it goes out. Thanks Shane and thanks Cape Fear AC and Heating!

Our upstairs A/C began to began to blow warm air only. We called Cape Fear Heating and Air after seeing that they had good reviews from other Angie's List members, as well as being a Super Service Award Member. The ladies on the phone were helpful, informative, and very polite. They informed us of their semi-annual service package that would give us a discount on repair parts. They also informed us that they still had an expired coupon up on their website, and that they would honor that since it was still up on their site. We did not even look at their site, so this was unsolicited information. We signed up for their maintenance package and scheduled an appointment. The technician has an appointment before ours run long, but the office called us early to let us know the technician would be running an hour behind. They asked if we wanted to reschedule or just keep the appointment. We kept the appointment. The technician called ahead of time to inform us that he was about 15 minutes away. When he arrived, he placed shoe covers on his boots before entering the house. We have a two unit Trane System, so he asked us to show him where all of the systems are so that he could run a general check on both systems. He diagnosed that the upstairs unit's capacitor had gone bad, and replaced the capacitor that had gone bad. After informing us that the other three were running weak, we decided to go ahead and have him replace the other three capacitors. Due to the time of the appointment, it was beginning to get dark out. He still needed to do the semi-annual maintenance and cleaning, and he did not have one of the capacitors on hand that was running weak. We scheduled a time for him to come back out and finish the cleaning and replace the remaining weak capacitor. He returned on time and completed the remaining service. The overall experience was great, and the service was completed as agreed upon. We will continue to use Cape Fear Heating and Air. Their maintenance package is slightly higher than a few other providers, but it comes with more perks like discounts on parts and up to 1 lb of free freon when conducting their routine maintenance.
Description of Work: Replaced the all of the capacitors for our dual system Trane A/C and heating units. They also completed their semi-annual maintenance service as part of the package we had ordered. Prince includes all four capacitors replaced and the semi-annual maintenance package.

The receptionist was friendly and helpful, she let me know exactly what was going to happen. They arrived early and very professional. They did a diagnostic test, and had my air conditioning up and running within 30 minutes. He did not try to sell me more than I needed, which I appreciate as a single woman. There is no amount of money you can pay for fast and quality service. When you have kids and pets in the house you worry about how long you might have to go without air conditioning. I recommend Cape Fear AC and Heating to anyone.
Description of Work: I called the service at 5:20 pm, and by 6:30 I had air conditioning. I was told that they would be there between 8pm and 10pm. They arrived early and fixed it on the hottest day of the summer so far. It was 95 degrees today.

Overall experience with this company was GREAT, our 18 yr old gas pack quit working on 11/12/2013, we called and they had a service technician come out to look at it that day. He found multiple cracks in the heat exchanger, so instead of repairing I knew it was time for a new unit. Robert came out the next day and went over all options available, explaining in detail the benefits of each unit, cost, warranties, maintenance. I believe he gave me the best price from the start, he extended the labor warranty and paid for the service call. The new unit was installed on 11/14/2013, they did a great job. I would HIGHLY recommend using this company.
