The technician, Steve, was very thorough. The "tune-up" was more detailed than most A/C companies I have dealt with. Many take about 30 minutes to check a few items then spend 20 more minutes at paperwork for the special "tune-up" price of $59 - $89 and almost always try to sell you something else. This company told me this would be a thorough 2 hour "tune-up" and that it would include cleaning parts and debris for $75. The technician ended up spending almost 5 hours, the last half diagnosing a problem which we were able to do a minor fix on (at no extra charge) and it works great now. - I asked him to charge me for an extra hour of labor more than the $75 "tune-up" charge quotes because he spent much more time doing diagnosis. The service ticket notes were excellent and from what I can tell, the technician did a good job cleaning a unit that had not been serviced for 5 years. The only reason I give a "B" rather an "A" for punctuality is I do not like the standard industry practice of putting the customer "on call" for a 3 hour time window. I have found that sometimes they call toward the end of the time window to say they are running late and treat the customer's time as expendable, but not theirs. An excellent practice would be a time certain and a discount if they run late. Cape Fear had a 2 hour time window. This is not a complaint against Cape Fear specifically, it is better than the industry standard practice- I just do not like the standard practice.

Eddie did an awesome job! Very informative and willing to answer questions. He was very thorough and made sure we knew all that he was doing. He also confirmed for us the 1st guy (another company) who came out for 5 minutes never touched anything outside! House cooled down within an hour of system clean. No charge was needed, only a cleaning. VERY HAPPY!!

Steve was extremely thorough. He checked all the components of my system, cleaned the coils and removed the leaves from the inside of the unit. He spent a lot of time tweaking the system to make sure that it would run effectively and efficiently. He added a bit of refrigerant as was needed. I have had several checkups on my HVAC system and he definitely spent the most time and was the most thorough of anyone I have used. He definitely went above and beyond to do a great job. I would recommend them again.

Chris was professional, polite and timely. He got right to work and performed the job expertly . He answered my questions thoroughly.

Even though it's a Saturday evening I was able to schedule an immediate visit and repair, which isn't easy to do during the summer in the midst of a heat wave. The technician diagnosed the problem (a failed capacitor) and was able to replace the failed part on the spot. Normally they charge more outside of normal hours (which I think is completely fair), but by becoming a maintenance customer they only charged the normal rates. I definitely plan to use them again.

Terrible service and was just looking for someone to buy a whole A/C unit. Don't trust this company.

Very professional, arrived as scheduled, completed work as promised. Worked diligently, even though it was 100 degrees outside. Will definitely contract with them again if the need arises.

Tech was polite and professional. He explained in detail how the system and furnace were operating.

David showed up right in the middle of the scheduled time. He was very professional and had no problem checking everything out and allowing me see what was going on. We had some issues with the AC units keeping up with the heat. He cleaned the VERY dirty condensers outside and checking how the units were working and their efficiency, not very good. It?s been 2 days and upper 90?s-100 and the units have run great (19years old) and have keep the house cool, much better than the previous weekend. It was suggested we look at replacing since they are old and there is a cracked in the heat exchange (at least we don?t need to turn the heat right now). I got a follow up from the GM of the Raleigh office the next day to see how things are and to come out and evaluate what our needs for replacements may be. He was very willing to work with our schedule.

The service provider was very nice and knowledgeable. Also very easy to talk with. After the service was complete he indicated " the system should run better since it was all cleaned up". That's what I call confident.

Arrived right on time. Connected measurement equipment and tested to make sure the unit was performing to specs. Totally cleaned the outside unit and washed out the leaves and dirt.

Okay - Angie says she wants all the details, so here goes. I can't praise my service rep Eddie and Cape Fear AC & Heating Company enough for this service. In September 2013, I was told by another HVAC company that there was a leak at my AC coils and that I should replace the entire system. They also tried to sell me some sort of T and float switch. I don't recall what the purpose of this was, but I have gotten along just fine without it. I declined both recommendations and just had them add refrigerant. The system has worked fine for the most part ever since, but I have had some difficulty maintaining consistent temperature throughout the house and recently a drain outside at the rear of the house began dripping. So, I decided it was time for a check up since it had been a while. I got the deal notice on Angie's List for Cape Fear and purchased it. Eddie arrived this morning and performed the following: cleaned the coils; flushed the main drain; fixed the damper aim and showed me how to set it for summer/winter for a two-story system; checked capacitors, conductor, amps, volts and electrical connection. I also needed a little less than a pound of refrigerant, which Eddie added. All of this for $49. He completed the service late morning and my house has been a very comfy 73 degrees throughout ever since! One thing about the damper aim: I thought I knew how to adjust these for proper upstairs/downstairs air distribution according to the season. But... I discovered with Eddie that the builder (or previous AC technician) had labeled them wrong and I have been adjusting them completely the opposite of what I should have for a couple of years now! Also, Eddie informed me that the drain dripping outside at the rear of the house was an overflow drain. It has stopped dripping since Eddie flushed the main drain. Cape Fear has without a doubt earned a new customer with me. I'm even referring them to the president of our homeowners association to recommend to the other homeowners in my development. If you need any type of heating/AC work done, I HIGHLY recommend Cape Fear AC & Heating Company. Nice work, Eddie!

Great, the technician was very professional, explained everything in easy terms, recommended and only did what was needed.

Technician spent a great deal of time and seemed to do a very thorough job. Very courteous and gave me great tips to help preserve my equipment.

Outstanding. Technician was at the very early end of the window. He was polite, professional, and answered all of my questions.

I purchased the AC tune-up for both my units. Stephen arrived on time and got to work quickly. He spent a great deal of time testing and cleaning the systems. He explained the test results. He did not try to convince me to replace any parts or purchase any additional services. He answered all my questions and I felt confident about my system functionality after he left.

A few days ago, I purchased a "deal" with this company for a seasonal check and refrigerant, and the appointment was scheduled for the next few weeks.. However, my air conditioner stopped working this morning, so I called them (on a Sunday) to see if they could come out today. The company sent a technician right away named Stephen Rardon who was courteous and professional. He diagnosed the problem in only a few minutes and answered all my questions. After replacing the defective part, he cleaned the unit thoroughly and soon my home received cool air again. I would definitely use this company in the future, and would recommend them to anyone in the Durham area.

Went well once being contacted. They didn't call to schedule for even after 2 weeks. so I decided to call and finally got an appointment.
