Chris, the service tech, took his time to explain the whole process. I'm 72 years old and feel that if I ever have to go to the hospital all I would have to do is just call the office and speak with Sue and she would send Chris to take care of my unit. Just after one meeting, I trust Chris to take care of the problem without me being home. To have this faith and trust certainly means a lot to me. The install was done, amazingly, by one man. He arrived on time, installed the unit, answered my questions and left. However, the unit failed the city's mechanical inspection, but the failure that was cited was over something that wasn't a big deal. Cape Fear scheduled an electrical checkup with a contractor they use (all was A-OK) but have never scheduled the electrical inspection by the City. Thus the lower grades on Quality and Responsiveness. Calls to the company to arrange inspections were a bit frustrating. The company is expanding from Fayetteville into Raleigh and apparently has a few kinks to iron out. I suspect that they will do well. Update 11/21/15 I received a call from Cape Fear thanking me for pointing out the communication problems in scheduling the City inspections. The mechanical inspection had been done by the city, but not the electrical. Cape Fear's subcontractor had OKed the electrical, but had not scheduled the electrical inspection by the city. The next call that I received was from the subcontractor wanting to check the electrical. I responded that they (the electrical subcontractor) had already checked the installation and that the electrical inspection needed to be scheduled with the city. So far ..........No city electrical inspection has been scheduled. I

So I used Cape Fear Air conditioning and heating and about a month later my air condition unit clogged up. I had to get another whole new air conditioner company out to do repairs on my air conditioning unit. I was going to do a review on those guys and when I was I got kicked off and didn't get a chance to put a review in. The issue was one of the drain lines on the actual air conditioning unit I asked them did they actually do the complete service. If that wasn't part of there service then okay but if it was part of there service to do a whole service on the air conditioner, then that should have been one of the things that they checked.

It was fine. The guy was nice. I wasn't 100% sure that I needed to have something fixed that he said I needed to have. It was alright. He said I needed two things and I purchased one of them which was $150 more and the other one would have been a few hundred dollars. I don't know what part he replaced. I actually asked him to clean it up. It was so dirty and he didn't even clean it. They did fine.

We had six companies give us quotes. All were highly rated on Angie's List and BBB and three companies had great reviews and great quotes. One highly rated company ignored our needs and were much higher. In the end, we decided to go with Cape Fear AC mainly because of their VP/Sales person Tim P******. He was very responsive, experienced, honest, and had our needs in mind. From beginning to completion, he was there for us. And we had plenty of questions over this period of time. We were a pain...and he was cordial and upbeat in every conversation. They were not the lowest price, but very close. The system is now up and working great, and the two installers were courteous and worked about 7 hours to finish the work. One stayed extra time to install new wifi thermostats and we are very satisfied with our choice of Cape Fear AC and Heating. Highly recommend Them!

Cape Fear AC & Heat were easy to schedule. They were able to call me before the tech arrived, so I could meet him at my house. The tech, Stephen Rardon, was very professional and did a great job making sure the units at both locations were working correctly. Even though this was a special low cost deal, he still spent several hours at both of my houses to work on the units. My house unit had a refrigerant leak which he was able to find and fix by tightening some of the fittings. My townhouse unit had too much refrigerant, which he was able to remove. He also spent time working on the condensation drain inside the house. After fixing the issues with the units, he emailed me a pdf with all of the information on how the units are doing, so I can keep track of it myself. I would definitely recommend using Cape Fear AC & Heating.
Description of Work: The AC tech, Stephen Rardon, came out to both my house and my rental property and did a tune up on both. He ended up fixing problems at both houses. My house had a refrigerant leak and my townhouse had too much refrigerant in the unit.

First, my services were scheduled promptly. The office was pleasant and professional. My service tech, Rusty was professional and did a great job explaining the problems he found as well as educating me about HVAC systems in general. I ask a lot of questione and he was patient and a great teacher. One of our systems stopped working overnight, he was sent back promptly and fixed the issue. Both systems are running smoothly now. I would definitely recommend this company.

I scheduled an annual HVAC inspection as part of our home maintenance. The technician arrived on time and was professional throughout his visit however I am a little concerned about the thoroughness of the inspection. The inspection revealed a possible problem with the thermal expansion valve (TXV) and a problem with my upstairs thermostat however the final report made no mention of the broken damper (existing issue) or the obvious missing/damaged refrigerant line insulation. This is especially disappointing since I was given a repair quote at the end of the inspection for over $1100.00. The system is just over 6 years old in a residential single family home. The price was right for the service but I will be returning to the company that I have used in the past for future service calls.

We've used this twice now, once at our home and once at my wife's mother's home. The Service was excellent, The scheduling was horrible. In both cases, the service tech showed up without calling. In the first case, we had actually changed the date but he came on the original date. The second time, the tech was supposed to call my wife before going to the home, due to the fact it is an older woman living alone. In both cases the Tech said there was nothing on the paperwork about calling in advance. After the service, the AC units are working better than ever. The tech really seemed to know what he was doing. I was very impressed with the service and there was no up-sale. I had new filters stored at each unit, he even offered to change the filer at charge. Bottom line, great service at the home, seems to be issues with the office and scheduling.

One day before my appointment, both of my thermostats suddenly died and I knew it had something to do with the electrical wiring because the batteries as a back up turned on the thermostat. The problem was that the thermostat was not talking to the AC unit so my air went off completely. The timing was actually perfect because I had my appointment for the AC maintenance the next day. Stephen R. (Steve) was my service provider and he could not have been any friendlier or more professional. He was super-punctual and listened as I explained what happened to my AC unit. He started looking at the furnace in the attic and knew immediately what the problem was. He took a picture of it for me on his phone so that I did not have to go into the sweltering attic. The switch on the furnace was cracked and the wires were no longer connected. He explained everything to me and then showed me the pricing to have this switch replaced. After he solved that problem, he proceeded to start the inspection and cleaning of the actual AC unit outside. He used a hose to clean the unit, took it apart and worked outside in the heat for about an hour and a half. After the diagnostic report, he told me that my capacitors were not looking too good and it would be a good idea to either have them replaced now or wait but they weren't in top condition. I asked him how much it would cost to also replace those and he gave me a quote. I decided to have those replaced and the switch because I just want everything to work and not worry about problems down the road. Steve installed the new capacitors and took my payment information and everything was great. My air is back on and cooling down the house and I am so happy with the service. I also have Steve's card and email in case I need to get a hold of him and he provided the best service I have experienced with Angie's List. Thank you, Cape Fear Air, for all of you help and thank you, Steve!
Description of Work: I purchased the end-of-summer special to have my AC checked because it is 8 years old and I have never real had any maintenance on it. I thought it would be a good investment after the peak of the summer heat so I purchased the deal and was immediately contacted by someone to pick a date for the service. I was able to pick 3 dates as preferences and Sue Hicks and Megan did a wonderful job setting up my appointment. They explained what would happen and the items that would be checked and I was set.

Took advantage of an Angie's list coupon. Chris came out and essentially dismantled the entire unit, checked everything, isolated the issue, provided VERY sound advice, and boosted the freon which will get us through the summer. HIGHLY recommend these folks.

Answered all question and explained everything well. He did a great job of cleaning and inspecting the upstairs system. Would recommend this service to anyone. He cleaned the condenser coils, did a functional/AMP check on the two capacitors and the blower. Used a wireless system to monitor and record the system before and after the service. My system is from 1998, when the house was built. He let me know of the condition and the recommendation of installing a new one. I know this needs to be done and he on no way tried to pressure me for any other services. This was a very pleasant experience.

We bought an older home, 1960s, and it had a very old HVAC system. They came out to fix it three times and we finally concluded that the system needed to be replaced. They applied the previous services charges to the system we purchased. They have always been on time, and super courteous. Would use them again in a minute.

The technician took over 2 hours to service both units. He put thermostats throughout each level as he was servicing to make sure that all the vents were putting out the correct temperature. I was extremely impressed and honestly asked my wife how they were making any money on this deal with the attention to detail and thoroughness.
