Jonathan Bluestone is a dishonest and unprofessional builder. He is threatening in his demeanor, does everything he can to maximize his profit at the expense of quality and worst of all manages the construction of his projects and customer satisfaction at arms length. The contractors he recommends also do horrible work. I would never use him again or purchase a home built by him. We are still waiting for things to be fixed well after our 1 year mark that went wrong days to weeks after taking occupancy. During the first year he would tell us to wait to the 1 year mark and then at the 1year mark he told us we lucky he is willing to fix these things. Well he fixed the cracks in the walls from the house settling because he was probably afraid of a law suit and then went radio silent on almost everything else. So now I am forced to fix everything else myself. There are too many problems for me to list. Avoid this company at all cost.

My wife and I purchased a new million dollar plus home built by Bluestone in 2006. Approximately 9 years later my gutter cleaner fell through the roof over the screened in porch.

It immediately became apparent that the roof and porch had been added after the main roof had been completed.  Where there was felt, it was lapped backwards (yes - so that water drained under the felt). They started at the top and came down - obviously wrong.

There was no flashing at all where it joined the main roof line or side of the third story and half the roof section had NO FELT AT ALL. They just shingled the remaining section.  Like they ran out and just said "screw it" we'll be long gone before anyone finds out - they were right.  The felt that was there was the thinnest you can buy (and again lapped backwards). There was ~20 square feet of complete rot. Obviously never inspected and nowhere near up to code.

When I contacted Jonathon Bluestone his response was that the home warranty is only valid for one year. Didn't offer to have it fixed, didn't offer to pay for the repair. Refused to reimburse the repair cost. Didn't even apologize.

Since this was not up to code, not possible to discover before failure and not a result of normal wear and tear or lack of maintenance I would have thought the builder would have made things right.  Unfortunately, that was not the case.

Cost to repair was $5730.72.
