Air Experts Heating & Cooling

My air conditioner was not working and I did not hesitate to call Air Experts! They replaced my downstairs unit in 2010 and I was most pleased with the entire process. They are a wonderful company to do business with from start to finish.

My 17 year old AC system was leaking very fast. I got 2 quotes & I was a tough sale. I had already checked consumer reports & knew I was making the right decision. The difference with the new system is amazing! no more musty odor from the crawlspace, this will add value to the house & make it an easy sell in the future. I expect the new system to last 20+ years. I am really impressed with the work that was done. They scheduled me in quickly & finished fast. I would recommend them to my neighbors.

First impression was good - a friendly lady picked up (rather than answering machine) and was able to schedule me in for the next day! Brandon was on-time and seemed to do a thorough job cleaning and inspecting everything. Then he added refrigerant to the one unit that needed it. I was given good explanations to any questions and felt he was giving honest recommendations. Polite and professional... I could not have been more pleased. I will be recommending Air Experts to my neighbors.

I called this company after seeing the great reviews on Angie's List. They replied quickly and got an appointment set up with me. I was concerned about my system not working great, and originally called with a coupon (from Angie's List) for $89 for a tune-up/cleaning and 2 lbs refrigerant. After Matt took a look at my outdoor heat pump (he never took a look at the air handler), he told me that I was low on refrigerant, R-22, which is currently being phased out by the EPA and costs "$130/lb right now and will only go up" and just went up in the last few months. He told me I probably had a leak, which 9 out of 10 times happens in the condenser coil, which costs a lot of money to replace ($200 to do a leak test, $2000 for a new coil at least, plus $400-$500 for more refrigerant). He told me that I should get a new system since mine was 9 years old, and builder grade (read: low quality) and he could set me up with the project manager Dave the next day (which he did set an appointment while at my house). He explained the problem well to me and wrote it out for me. He spent less than 30 minutes total at my house. I felt the $45 charge for him to do nothing but take the pressure of my refrigerant line to be a bit pricey. I chose not to go with this company for my new system for a variety of reasons, and went with another well-rated company on Angie's List which was also recommended to me by a colleague.

I originally posted on 06/21 when I requested a service call of my 2 gas packs that are 16 years old....After Matt told me that I needed to replace them both and replaced some refrigerant in my upstairs unit to "get me by", he immediately called Dave, the Project Manager. He arrived on the 22nd (on time) and we discussed all of my options. He went into my attic and crawlspace, took measurements and pictures. He was not pushy and helped m buy the best unit(s) for my needs. He advised on rebated, incentives, warranties and weighed those with payment plans and other offers.I was able to get exactly what I wanted at a fair price.Brandon and Herman arrived Saturday morning at 8am. I was told they would arrive between 9-9:30am. They both apologized for waking me up. Actually, they didn't. But I was surprised at how apologetic they were when all I wanted was my air conditioning to work. They could have come at 3am and I wouldn't have cared! They were great. They quickly had my old unit out and cleaned up as they worked. They explained everything they were doing and also explained that they were making some unexpected repairs in the ductwork at not charge for the ungraded system to work efficiently. Brandon said he wasn't leaving until I was happy. He stayed under my house ALL DAY and when he left, my downstairs was a cool 76 degrees!!I work nights and got home today approximately 8:30am. Their van followed me into my driveway. Both Herman and Brandon returned today to install my upstairs unit. Again, they stayed all day and completed the entire installation in my attic (and the outside unit, of course). They cleaned up as they worked. They even worked quietly enough that I could catch a nap on my sofa while they tip-toed around my house. (They didn't think I saw them.) Steve came later in the day to help finish and also to program my wireless thermostats to my new system. He was great as well. After completion, they left all the paperwork and warranty information and again, did not leave until I was happy. They were all extremely helpful, professional and never had a large mess in my house or yard. Even my neighbors commented on how professional they are. I couldn't be happier!! Now I have to figure out my thermostat settings....74 degrees used to be barely comfortable and now 76 degrees is a little too cool!!Air Experts really impressed me and I would definitely hire them again!!

Air Experts was amazing. We've used them for several years for general yearly maintenance on our HVAC unit. When they serviced our A/C unit in April, we did not heed their warning that we should consider replacing our unit. So when it died last week, we were at the end of a very long list of people whose units had also died in the heat of summer. We called Thursday after lunch, and they had a repair guy there by 3pm. Shane was great and quickly figured out that the capacitor needed to be replaced. He told me that he wouldn't know if anything else was wrong until a new capacitor was in but it could be worse and I may need a whole new system. I bought the capacitor and sure enough, found out that we needed more work. Our system was 21 years old so it was pointless to put more money into it. Shane contacted Dave to come out and explain my options. Dave called and even though it was 5pm, he said he could come out later that night. However, when I told him that we had the Service Plan, he said he was on his way RIGHT then. It was great to be treated special but I told him that later worked better for us. So, Dave arrived at 9:30pm like we planned. He helped us pick out the unit that was exactly right for our needs and was actually there discussing and measuring until after midnight. Then he assured us that someone would be there before 10am to replace our unit! Now that's what I call service! Dave also told us that he'd refund our check for the capacitor we had just bought. At 9am, Steve and Emilio came to replace the unit. They were great! They barely made a sound as they took apart the old unit and replaced it with a new one. They worked until 6pm and got us up and running with A/C before the weekend! Steve also took the time to point out what minor things still needed to be done to finish the job. They still had to replace the thermostat so when they came back for that, they'd also finish up the other items.

Tech arrived as scheduled and did a great job. Friendly attitude and very professional. I highly recommend them.

After thoroughly explaining how the air conditioning system works in layman terms, we understood the severity of our problem. Dave was able to schedule 2 technicians for the following morning to install our new unit. Brandon and Herman arrived on time, were very professional and did an excellent job. Another technician (Steve) stopped by to help finish the job. Kudos to all involved!!!!

Matt arrived today on time, did a complete inspection of our AC system, and corrected a problem with a noisy fan. He was friendly and courteous, and he seemed very knowledgable. Definitely recommend and will use again if needed.

Service call and work went well. We will be getting a quote for replacement of unit / units and will make a decision whether to use Air Experts for installation at that time.

Overall, visit went well. I think Matt felt worse about the "bad news" than I did. Very nice guy who was really trying to help me out!

Beautifully! Matt arrived on time, explained all that he was going to do, proceeded to do it, while answering questions, and offered his professional opinion, when asked. He kept his indoor shoe covers on all the time he was in the house, was completely professional, and such a gentleman! He is a 4-star member of this team. Actually, their office staff is delightful, pleasant to work with, and extremely helpful! The whole company is 4 -star!

Our house has two units, one in the attic and one outside. As soon as Matt entered the house he put covers over his shoes demonstrating his professionalism and concern for our home. When completing the work in the attic he provided a detailed explanation of the system and answered a number of questions we asked. He then went outside and performed the work on the condenser of the upper unit and the full second unit. When completed he gave us the full report and patiently and professionally answered our questions and concerns. We have used another AC company in the area for a few years and felt that the service they were performing was not up to par so we used this great deal to test drive Air Experts. After this experience we will be using Air Experts for future maintenance and service work.Matt was on time and professional in his evaluation of our systems. I really appreciated his honesty and professional opinions and the fact that he did not try and sell me something!

Dave Hepner gave us a great deal that also included a $700. rebate, 5 years labor, 10 years parts and one year free service calls (2). The work crew showed up the next day and completed all but the UV light which they finished today in 25 minutes. They cleaned up after themselves. and were t5errific. Not to forget,, we also got three years with no interest.The unit is quiet and very efficient. A positive experience.

They called the next day to set up an appointment. Technician Matt was courteous and thorough. He did the inspection and cleaned the coils. I appreciated the slippers he put on his shoes. He answered the questions and concerns I had. I will use them in the future!

I bought Angie list deal of the day. The service man came the same day I called and was excellent. Cleaned out air conditioner, tested all parts and went under house to check out some repairs we had to ducts. We had a part replaced (capacitor) and purchased a mainentance agreement for a year. We were very satisified with the service.

It went very well, and I would use this company again. Technician Brandon was very professional, worked right along, cleaned up well, wore overshoes in the house (muddy around outside units). He was not at all pushy about the replaced capacitor ("could last another couple of years") or doing future tune-ups. There were no additional/unexpected charges. He carries a wide variety of "spares" in clean, Air Experts van.Brandon explained the absence of Angies List gold medallion that they had not long been on Angies List.Quite by chance, we got our service the same day we called! I simply had phoned to see if we were within their service area (we are 27 miles away), and the office person asked "How about 2-4pm this afternoon, or we can do two days later". And did it later that afternoon. The "Big Deal" is naturally a "Steal", but if it's offerred .........No problem in recommending.

WOW! Dave (Project Coordinator) and the service and installation men at Air Experts were AMAZING! We bought our house four years ago as a re-sale. It was only three years old at the time but we have had nothing but trouble with both of our air conditioners from day one. Rather than continue to spend money and put a band aide on the problem, Dave worked extensively with us to select the best units for our home. He did not try to sell us the most expensive units but the RIGHT units for our home and the issues we were having. We have a long hallway upstairs and a large room at the end of the hallway over our garage. Dave recommended a variable speed fan to help regulate the cool air throughout the upstairs. It has made a HUGE difference. He also recommended a humidity control option on our thermostats and that too has made a very positive difference. I have definitely noticed a significant difference in our cooling temperature in the short time (two weeks) since the units have been installed. I have not had to turn the thermostat down nearly as much as I had to with our previous units. The men who performed the installation worked tirelessly for two days to make sure everything was perfect. It was an extremely hot day for the first installation and our unit is up on our third (unfinished) floor which made it even hotter. He ran into a slight electrical issue and had to wait for help from his supervisor. I was worried as I thought they would have to finish the following day and the second floor where we sleep was quite warm; however, they did NOT leave until the job was done! They left at 8:30 PM that night and our second floor was well over 80 degrees at that point. In just 16 minutes our second floor was at a cool and comfortable sleeping temperature. I could NOT believe it! They came out extra early the next morning to install the second unit in an effort to finish up in time for us to leave as we were going away for the weekend. They made sure to have everything done inside our home by the time we had to leave for our trip and then just finished what they needed to outside. The were FANTASTIC! We have our maintenance contract with Air Experts and although I hope it is many, many years before we have to replace these units again, I would certainly do so with them.

I had a previous horrible experience with a different a/c company, so I scrutinized Angie's List extra hard to find a company to fix what I suspected was a freon (or refrigerant) leak, which would need a refill, on a 6 year old unit. I had absolutely no problems with Air Experts. Brandon came out to the job, looked it over and explained that due to the refrigerant going below a certain level, the capacitor was not doing so well. He changed that, added more refrigerant and honored our Angie's List coupon for a tune-up that included 2 units of refrigerant. So we paid for an extra unit of refrigerant and the capacitor. Job was done in about 45 minutes from start to finish, and all went well. Thanks Brandon!

It went perfectly and they did everything that was promised and more. Dave the project manager came out and was wonderful. He is truly passionate about what he does and did a wonderful job explaining all the details. I did not even realize they could replace my water heater and it was great that I could get both jobs done by the same company I explained my finances and he did everything he could to keep it in my budget and I was able to finance the whole thing and ended up not having to pay interest. I would recommend this company to anyone that needs a new hvac system including my closest friends and family Although he did explain all the option he never tried to sell me something that I did not need. He was patient and even though he was very busy he devoted 100% of his attention to my needs and ignored his phone which must of rang ten times during our visit. The workers showed up right on time and did the job amazingly. They left my home spotless and got done right at 5 pm I don't think I have ever seen anyone get as much done in a day as they did I know of several people that have had bad experiences from using the wrong air conditioning company and all I can say that anyone living in Raleigh that does not use this company is nuts. Why risk it when you can use this company with an impeccable reputation and I might add very reasonably priced

Our A/C wasn't working. We have a home warranty, but I didn't want to call in a trouble ticket until we completed the seasonal service for fear the home warranty company wouldn't cover the repair without the required maintenance. I found an $89 seasonal service coupon via Angieslist and called Air Experts to set up my appointment. The receptionist was very friendly, and I noticed she said, "I can help you" instead of "How can I help you?" I thought it was a nice touch. And I was extra pleased she was able to accommodate an appointment on the date I requested. On the day of the appointment, we received an advance call letting us know the tech was on his way to our house. Our technician, Brandon, arrived promptly, was very personable and got straight to work. We soon ran into trouble however. Our A/C system wasn't working due to a faulty part. Brandon said he could finish cleaning up the inside, but he wouldn't be able to complete a full system check with the system not working. I was torn -- do I call the home warranty company to complete the needed repair or have it taken care of on the spot? Knowing we were going into a hot weekend, I decided to spend the extra $90 (the part was $170; our warranty deductible is $60) and have the repair done immediately. Brandon soon had our system up and running. He also took pictures of the inside of the system to show how he'd cleaned the interior. (I was surprised to learn our old maintenance company had been doing a really sloppy job as was evidenced by the dense collection of pine straw that had accumulated in the bottom of our system.) I was so happy with the experience, I signed up for a seasonal maintenance package (covering next fall and spring) for $189. The package qualified me for a discount on the repair and, to boot, I happened to find a $30 coupon for seasonal maintenance package from Air Experts while I was sorting through mail as Brandon completed our service and was able to apply that, too. So we got this season's maintenance and the repair, plus pre-paid for two more seasons of maintenance, all for $304. And our A/C system is running ice cold. Seriously, our A/C hasn't worked this well since we moved into the house nearly five years ago! What a great service experience! A++++++!!

The service from start to finish was highly knowledgable and in a timely manner. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The 1st day Dave came out he let us know what the issues were and the routes we could go to have this fixed. The next visit was going over all our options and completing final paper work. All was easy and understandable and affordable. Love this company.

On 5/22, we called Air Experts based on Angie's List reviews. We needed to have our 15 year old units serviced. They got us in right away and Matt came out to take a look and do the service. He told us that our Freon was leaking from main unit and that he was hesitant to open it up and look for a leak, knowing how old it is. He could just fill up the freon for us, if we chose that rout,e but freon increased in price over the last couple of months and it would really be a waste of money. He explained the situation in great detail and was SO very courteous and understanding. I felt like we were really being taken care of. We knew we needed to get new systems so we asked Matt to schedule an appointment with the project manager Dave to give us an estimate. Dave came out that evening at 7:30pm and stayed until 10:00pm! What an awesome guy. Great customer service and he worked so hard with us to figure out what we want and to get new equipment that is right for our home and our needs. He was truly wonderful in talking it through with us and working the numbers, throwing some things in there for us to give us the best bang for the buck. We were so happy with the end result on what we ended up choosing. The work was scheduled ASAP for 5/24 morning. Jump to 5/24 and the crew of Brandon and Chucky came out to do the install. Dave scheduled it so that they would work on the upstairs today and get all that done, since having 3 small children it was important to have the comfort level upstairs first. Dave was so very great and thoughtful in scheduling it like that for us. Brandon and Chucky were such nice and hardworking folks. They worked so hard today to get the upstairs done for us! Brandon even called a guy to come out to our place with the freon to get it going because he knew how important it was for us to get the upstairs working, especially after they worked so hard to get it all done today. They'll be coming back tomorrow (5/25) to get the downstairs done. My husband and I can't be more happy. Excellent customer service seems to be dying in this world but there are gems like Air Experts that make us believe that there is hope. They have taken care of us as customers, beginning from the technician Matt, to the Project Manager Dave, to the installers Brandon and Chucky. They have truly cared about us and our needs from beginning to end....keeping in mind our family, keeping our expenses low while maximizing on hitting all of our needs for the A/C unit. We really can't say enough good things. SO happy that we found our A/C company!!! We are more than thrilled to do business with them. Thanks for taking care of us. We highly recommend Air Experts and all of the personnel that work for this company. You will not be disappointed!!

On May 15th, Daniel came to my home and gave me the air-conditioning options available along with their related costs. He explained the differences between each option and the pros and cons of each. I chose the SEER 16 air condition/furnance option as it was the best chose without being expensive. Daniel was great in explaining all of the air-conditioner options and answered my questions on financing. He even answered a couple of my questions via phone after he had left my home. He is very courteous and professional. On May 23rd, Richard and another technician arrived promptly at 9 am. They were very professional and courteous. While Richard worked in my attic working on removing my old system, his partner (I can't remember his name) worked on the unit outside of my home. They completed the work at approximatly 5 pm (despite that there was a thunderstorm coming towards the house and it was starting to rain).

I woke up on Saturday morning May 5th a little warm and didn't hear the air running. Checked everything out and the circuit breakers and couldn't find the problem. Towards lunch time it was 80 degrees downstairs and at least 10 degrees hotter upstairs. I called another company who I only used once out of desperation and they couldn't do anything for me until at least Monday morning because I didn't have a service agreement. I called Air Experts next because I had a magnet on my fridge from where I had my vents cleaned last year and remembered how nice they were. Marjorie said she could have someone out between 4-6 that afternoon. I had no idea that they would come out within 2-3 hours of my call when they haven't done any service work for me before. The advertise " no overtime charges" which is right. I paid the same for a saturday service call that I did last summer to those other people who came for 5 minutes on a weekday. Steve was the nicest repair man that I have ever used. I told him that I had checked all the breakers but nothing helped. He determined that there was no power. 1st order of business is figure out why there was no power. Everything was working fine when i went to bed the night before. He went into the 100+ degree attic with a severe storm rolling in and found the power switch broken and laying on the floor. He quickly replaced that and then checked out the unit. The drain pan is full of water, the coils are not level, then the refrigerant is low. He replaced the switch and recharged the refrigerant. We discussed the other issues. and with the 10 year age of my builder basic unit he advised me to check out replacement. Putting $ into a leak search, leveling the coils and putting a drain float in was only gong to delay the issue with a band aid. I also noticed a few days before this started a nasty stain coming from the drain from the roof. This is all coming from the drain pan full of water. All i need now is for that pan to overflow and I'm in trouble. I called to schedule a quote on a new unit.
