Project was delayed 2 weeks because they didn't have flooring glue at the store. When I asked if the Lowes down the street had some glue they could use, they said that may be possible but it took another several days to find out and call me back. Letting a small tool hold up a contract job is unprofessional and the mark of a bureaucratic process where nobody really cares about getting a job done for a customer; it's all about volume and regulations. The floor looks nice and was done according to contract, but I had bare floors in my kitchen and bathroom for weeks that prevented moving in appliances that were waiting in my living room.

We should have left when we were there for over an hour before anyone came to help us. When someone finally came to help us, they just said "go pick out what you want". We had no idea what we were looking at. We knew that we wanted carpet and vinyl, but that was all we knew for sure. Our house has both cement and wood floors. Which product was best for which application. We were doing the entire house and we couldn't get the help we needed. One sales person told us that Lowes does their own installation, and another sales person told us no, they contract it out. Well, I can tell you because I now know, they contract out carpet and vinyl installations. They sent someone out to measure our home. We were told that we would receive an estimate for if we took out our carpet vs Lowes taking out the carpet. We were lead to believe that it would be substantial if we wanted to do it. We went home and immediately started pulling up carpet, pad and vinyl (Lowes doesn't remove old vinyl) and hauling it off . Well, we would never have done it ourselves if we had known how little we were going to be reimbursed. The salesman told us "this is a turn-key job". We're still looking for the key. We've never worked so hard in our live. They never let us know who was going to do what when. We had to wait until the installer came out to find out what if anything we needed to move on each day. We found out who was going to be doing the installation and called them to see if they were going to come out to see what they were going to need to do because we had concerns about some of our wooden floors. First we were told that everything was fine only to find out that it wasn't. Part of it had to be replaced. They said we had to be two rooms ahead of the installers. We had to hurry scurry to get things moved. It was supposed to take two days for installation of the carpet and two days for the vinyl. It took seven days of work to get it all done. We never found out how many yards or sq ft we were looking at. We were never told where the seams were going to be or which direction the design would be going. (We were told that we would receive a printout of all that.) We found out when the installer was almost finished doing the room (which is kind of too late). When the vinyl came in, the factory had sent the wrong quantities. Lowes flooring department or receiving didn't check it when it came in. I checked it and told the installer that I thought they had sent the wrong amounts. It was difficult to read/understand their labels. Lowes said that it would take 2 weeks for the correct quantity to get in. Fortunately the Lowes Installation Inspector happened to come by just then and we told her all that had been going on. She got it here in 3 days instead. They sent 37 sheets of underlayment. We only needed underlayment for 2 1/2 baths and a medium-sized kitchen. We sent back over 20 sheets plus a bunch of other things we paid for and didn't need. By my estimates, we paid about $7,000.00 for carpet, vinyl, etc. we were supposed to get the installation of carpet free because we bought the better carpet. So the remainder is for labor on vinyl? We tried to contact the salesman a few times but first he was helping someone but they would have him call us back. When he didn't return our call, we tried again. This time he was at lunch. He never returned any of our calls. Every day held a new challenge with Lowes. Will we use Lowes again? Not on a bet!
Description of Work: On July 7th, 2014 we purchased carpet, pad and vinyl flooring for our entire home from Lowes in Morehead City, NC. They were to install it. A turn-key job.

We're very pleased with them on the quality of their merchandise. They just got a whole range of service. We had a new roof put on our house a few years ago and we worked through them and we were very pleased with that experience. They're all over the place so there's easy access to them.
Description of Work: We used Lowe's Hardware. We go there for any kind of hardware supplies that we need. I probably bought an outdoor flood lighting.

Searching for new washer and dryers, we checked Lowe's against some nearby competitors. The lady in appliances was knowledgeable and directed us to a pair from Samsung which were on an excellent sale. In the end, we purchased the Samsung appliances for over $300 off per item, bringing the total down to $1300. Delivery scheduling was professional and efficient, able to choose a date and time period immediately. At this point, extremely satisfied with their service. However, on the date of delivery, having not been contacted by Lowe's, I called them and spoke to the store manager. He assured me that the delivery was enroute but would call after he spoke to the truck for an update. An hour and a half later, with no phone calls nor delivery, I called again and spoke to the same manager. This time he hemmed and hawed and wondered why his delivery truck had returned to the store. As I waited on the phone with him, it turned out that the deliveries were complete for the day. After ensuring that no one had called us, he searched the store only to find that our items had never been delivered to Lowe's to begin with, hence why they were never on the truck for delivery! Quite irate, I mentioned that he had just a bit earlier told me the items were on the truck. In short, he could offer no explanation why our items were never delivered to the store, nor why we were never called to tell us that delivery could not happen. Certainly by that morning, a professional establishment should have at least called to inform us, "We are sorry; unfortunately, central delivery never sent your appliances. We are working on getting you a new delivery date as soon as possible. We realize that this will require a disruption to your schedule and is an inconvenience to you and again we are sorry." But that didn't happen. However, in that I spoke to the manager earlier and he assured me that it was out for delivery, this is a double whammy on the professionalism of the store. The manager at this point, to his credit, (after we confirmed that he was the senior man at the store), became very helpful in tone although it was too late to do anything substantial. He was not empowered to recall any delivery men (ultimately it would have been for not since Lowe's didn't even have the product, though we didn't know it at the time.) He was able to offer the floor models at 10% off and delivery the next day, which I decided not to accept since floor models have their own history and problems...I would prefer the new model for the extra $130. Finally, I cancelled the order in its entirety and purchased through Sears (which deserves another review, also not positive). In the end, you will get a great price at Lowes...but you may not get what you paid for.
