This was overall a wonderful and completely enjoyable experience. Doug and his company completely lived up to their reputation in every way possible. Over a period of approximaelt three weeks, we were kept informed at every step regarding arrival and work to be done. IN EVERY SITUATION, they arrived promply on schedule and performed their work in the time stated. It was as if a "conductor" was leading his orchestra, with the electrician at 8:30 - 10:00 am followed immediately by the guttering company who had no sooner finished and departed that the eze-breeze panels arrived and an hour later the crew to install the eze-breeze. Amazing! Exterior Additions uses high quality materials and their workmanship is of the highest standards. It is obvious that each subcontractor is chosen for their quality of work and dependablility and not the lowest bid. Every individual was polite, prompt and willing to explain, discuss and advise regarding each step in the process. A project manager was assigned prior to the work beginning and Brian was extremely helpful, experienced and a pleasure to work with. I cannot imagine a more satisfactory experience and all who read this would be well advised to deal with Exterior Additions!
Description of Work: Doug Lynch with Exterior Additions helped my wife and I design and plan for an enclosed porch and adjoining patio to replace our old deck. He presented the vaious options and carefully explained the advantages of each option without pressure, As a result we chose a 16 X 12 foot enclosed screened porch that included the eze-breeze system of sliding panels, recessed lights, and an exterior fan. He guided us to the ""Itialiano Brothers" who assisted in designed and installing our new paver patio.

From the start to finish, Doug Lynch was directing the project. He gave us an estimated in the summer of 2011 and we did not act on it until summer, 2012. We agreed on the plans, set the date for construction, and everything was done in about two weeks. His work crew was professional, punctual, courteous, and congenial. The finished product is terrific and now we await warmer weather so we can get out on the porch and use it.
Description of Work: They demolished the old wooden deck, hauled the debris away, and then constructed a new, enclosed porch.

The original deck on our house needed to be repaired or replaced. In the end we decided to replace the deck with a new screened in porch and a new deck. We had three contractors from Angie's List bid on the project. Doug Lynch with Exterior Additions (EA) was the last company to bid on the job. From the first meeting to decide on the scope of the project we were impressed with Doug's professional approach, knowledge and experience. Doug presented us with a number of options to consider during the course of our meeting. He did a great job of explaining the pros and cons associated with the different product decisions we had to make for the porch and deck. Doug is very passionate about his work and is very easy to work with. We were impressed with the number of options he presented to us to be sure we were aware of everything we could do on the inside and outside of this addition to our home. The estimate provided by EA was very detailed. There were several options that we had not made a decision on whether to include in the project. Doug priced out these options separately so we could see the cost of each item if we wanted to include it in the job. We had decided to include an Eze-Breeze enclosure system around the screened in porch. The Eze-Breeze product uses see-through vinyl panels which can be raised to prevent rain, pollen, dirt, etc. from coming into the porch area. This was a very inviting option but we had never heard of it. Doug gave us some references who had installed the Eze-Breeze solution. We called a lady and she was very willing to have us come to her home to see how it looked and to see how the vinyl panels are raised and lowered. This visit sold us on including Eze-Breeze in our project. We chose Exterior Additions because: they have been doing this type of work in the Charlotte area since 1999, they have an excellent record in Angie's List, they have a huge reference list of satisfied clients and our confidence in Doug Lynch to deliver the services we needed. The job started on Jan 2, 2013. Throughout the project the EA crew (Mike and Jason) were punctual, hard-working and cleaned up the site before they left each evening. Mike was very conscientious in keeping the work site tidy and providing us with his planned tasks each day if we asked. We had a number of decisions to make as the project unfolded. Doug was very prompt in returning my call and emails and making sure we were going to be at the house when he was coming by to check on the progress or discuss a particular issue. The painters and electricians that EA used for the project have worked with them for many years and understand the quality of work that is required on the job. The project completed on Feb 4th and we were very pleased with the results. It exceeded our expectations! The quality of the workmanship is apparent as soon as you walk onto the porch. I was a professional Project Manager for 40 years and have used 100+ contractors over my career. I would put Exterior Additions at the top of my list in providing excellent services and an outstanding final product! They were a pleasure to work with!

We contracted with Exterior Additions for the construction of a screened porch. Owner Doug Lynch's professional approach to doing business and the excellent execution by his craftsmen (Mike and Jason in our case) made for a winning combination. With respect to the contracting process, I was particularly pleased with the very organized approach that Doug took on the quotation, including detailed descriptions and costs of the work that would be performed. Mike and Jason performed their jobs flawlessly as far as we could tell. They were very organized and efficient, and the quality of their work and their attention to detail were exceptional. My wife and I are thrilled with the finished product, which was exactly what we contracted for. Cost and timing for the project were both as agreed with Doug. I'd recommend Exterior Additions to anyone considering a similar project.

Doug and his company are top notch. We bid our project out to another deck company and found Exterior Additions through a referral. We knew as soon as Doug left our house that we would use his company. Now that we have our finished screened porch and new deck, we know that we made the right decision to go with Exterior Additions. They were responsive, professional and timely and made our first home improvement project an A+ from start to finish. I really can't say enough good things about Doug and his team. Doug listened to what we wanted and provided us with professional guidance. He responded to every phone call and email within 24 hours (at the most). It really was just a pleasure to work with Exterior Additions. I hope we have the chance to work together again and I know we will recommend them to anyone who asks.

This past summer we had our patio replaced by Italiano Brothers and it was so beautiful we decided to have it covered. Doug Lynch gave us a fair estimate and supplied ideas for us on the exact structure. The results are breathtaking. He and his crew are very professional, neat, punctual, and very competent. Mike, Jason, Josh as well as the electrician, painter, gutter person, etc. could not have been more enjoyable to work with. There just aren't enough accolades to describe this group - we highly recommend them!! In fact, after they finished that project, I had heard about ez e breeze for the screened porch and had Doug give us a demonstration of the product and an estimate for our porch. Mike and Jason also did this work with wonderful results. We have so enjoyed it this winter because we can use it and it stays clean. When the weather is warm, we just move the panels and have our screen porch back. Very important to me was the efficiency in their clean up - they left the property without a trace of all the debris they had to remove.
Description of Work: Built a cabana type structure with four fans over a newly poured patio. It is a fairly large structure with four round posts, bead board ceiling - just gorgeous!! Exterior Additions also installed EzE Breeze product on our existing screened porch with equally beautiful results.

Professionalism at it's best. From start to finish I worked closely with Doug who took the lead on my project. Starting with the estimate, Doug was knowledgeable about code, construction, and had a way about him that made you feel at ease. Right off the bat, I felt comfortable that he knew what he was doing and could be trusted. Doug was very perceptive and open to our needs and concerns, quickly identifing areas that would need extra attention on our project. We received multiple estimates from a couple different angies list contractors, but in the end we decided on Exterior Additions because of their experience, angies list rating, and the initial experience that I had with Doug. Prior to the start, Doug and I had discussed communication of the project. Communication was one of my big concerns. I wanted to know what what was going on and when to expect people. From start to finish, Doug's communication with me was beyond expectation. I received regular emails or phone calls that updated me on the progess, who to expect, and timelines for the week ahead. Doug listened to my requests and delivered throughout the entire project. Phase one was subcontracted to a company who specialized in concrete construction. I don't recall the name of the company, but just like Doug, they knew exactly what they were doing. They removed an old 8'x8' slab that was installed by the home builder, dug footings and laid concrete. They were quick, clean, and effecient. Leaving us with a high quality and very clean 14'D x 19'W concrete patio slab. Phase two was the buildout of the framework, roof, and installation of electrical wires and outlets. The building of the framework and roof was completed by Exterior Additions. The electrical was subcontracted to Amped Electrical (another high quality contractor if you need one and they are also on angies list). Doug identified in the estimate stage that we had a vented gas fireplace that would have to be capped or replaced by a ventless fireplace which was also taken care of during this phase. In full disclosure, there were some hickups with a new code inspector who had a different interpretation of code for a capped fireplace, which required us to purchase a ventless gas fireplace in order to complete the project in a timely manner (we used Hearth and Patio who is on angies list and a great resource if you need a new gas fireplace. Talk to Cindy, she knows more about fireplaces than I thought possible.) We had planned to put the ventless fireplace in at a later date to save some money around the holidays, but in the end the inspector did not leave us much of a choice. No sense in delaying the inevitable so we compromised to have it installed right away to satisfy the inspectors request and to prevent delays. Phase three was the final finishing touches like the shaddow box columns, beadboard, gutters, ceiling fans, lights, etc. Exterior Additions' attention to detail is impeccable. Everything was clean and precise. Final inspection passed and now we have an awesome exterior space that we can enjoy for years to come. Can't wait for the sping so that we can finish up the space around the porch and backyard. I'll definitely have Exterior Additions on speed dial for our next project.
Description of Work: Constructed a covered porch on the back of our home. Job consisted of removing existing 8' x 8' concrete slab. Pouring a new 14' x 19' slab and constucting an open covered porch with 4 shaddow box columns, beadboard ceiling, 2 fans, 2 spotlights, and 6 recessed lights.

What a great and prompt report, we love our timely Angie’s members! This client was phenomenal to work with. They were available when needed and really seemed to notice my desire to communicate (as noted in their report). I provide myself on communication, whether good or bad, it is far easier to discuss a situation then to let it fester. I find that steady communication keeps everyone on the same page and the client can be made more aware of what is happening when and also when I may need items from them. In reference to the inspector, he was truly a joy to work with (sarcasm). Mecklenburg county has some great inspectors and some lack luster ones, we lucked out and got the latter. His interpretation of the fireplace termination was truly off the books, ultimately we got his call vetoed by his superior but the client made a good (and more cost effective) call by replacing the unit out of the gate. The easiest description I can give in working with the county is; Imagine going to the DMV every working day of the your life. I would like to stress though that although there is considerable effort in the permitting process it is a necessary evil and all remodeling projects should be permitted. I will look forward to working with this client again in the future and thank you again for the great report!! Doug Lynch-Owner

I did not get an opportunity to share what I wanted modified. I thought this contractor would be a good choice and hopefully in the future Exterior Additions will expand its geographical boundaries for work. Basically, I have a deck with 6inch thick support beams in the ground. A sloped roof covers the deck from the house and a gutter helps with water off the roof. The beams are in good shape. I want to proactively heed off problems by having all whether durable metal (AL) post foundations with boots for the beams. I don't like the wood being in concrete and having soil touching it. I'd like the height of the all-wx durable aluminum post bases to be about 2 feet above surface ground level so the wood beams placed in the boots are far away from the ground.
Description of Work: Just information for others looking to use Exterior Additions in North Carolina: Still would recommend giving this company a try as they were responsive to a phone query. I received a voice message from Exterior Additions that the work is confined to a small geographical radius and that does not include work in Lincolnton, NC (Pumpkin Center) area. From the publication Angie's List put out, Huntersville, NC does appear to be within the geographical boundaries Exterior Additions will work (Angie's List. January 2013. 2012 Best & Worst Contractors in your area, p. 12).

First and foremost I would like to thank this member for taking the time to leave this positive report. I do pride myself in returning every call, inclusive of the ones that have projects outside of our area and those that are outside of our scope. In reference to our service area, as a multi-year Super Service award winner and a recent Angie’s list Best Contractor 2012, I would love to assist everyone however it is just not feasible. My first rule of success is to never dilute your resources. With the lion’s share of our work being about 10-15 miles from our shop we have set a 20 mile radius. While 20 miles may not seem like allot, that covers almost 1500 square miles of territory, which is an enormous amount of jurisdiction to choreograph projects and deal with a multitude of municipalities. When we step significantly outside this area (Lincolnton for example) our cost and subsequently the client’ cost goes up. When calculating these overages it is not only the extended time for the men, my trips and fuel/mileage but it is also the lost wages/profit on top of that time lost (as we are allot more profitable working 2 more hours daily then driving). I would also like to add, for this member directly, that on elevated deck surfaces it is typical to have wood support columns. On the basis these columns are pressure treated, 15 years old or newer and there is correct drainage on the lot these columns will last an incredibly long time. I personally have removed structures in excess of 30 years old with little to no structural damage to these imbedded columns. Also, for general knowledge as noted we do not offer any deck or porch upfits/retrofits and strictly new builds only. I would be happy though to elaborate with this member in regards to their post concern and they are welcome to give me a call. Thank you again for the great report. Doug Lynch-Owner

The whole project, start to finish, was great. Doug knows his business and was very easy to work and communicate with. He was very helpful in the design phase and, now that the porch is in, we love the final product. The project started on time and went very smoothly. The guys on his team clearly know what they're doing and take pride in their work. We can't wait till the warm weather arrives so that we can enjoy our new room!

We couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. One of Doug's employees, Josh, came to our home to take initial measurements in September. A contract was signed in mid October for work to be done after the first of the year. The delay was caused by a backlog of work on his part and it fit our schedule just fine. His backlog was taken care of quicker than anticipated and he and his crew were able to begin on December 11. Originally, he anticipated that the job would take as long as 3 weeks to complete. It took less than 2. The various crews that he has working for him , carpenters, electricians, painters, etc, all were very efficient and extremely capable. If ever a question or concern arose, Doug was right on top of it and provided a quick response or solution. Before I started using Angie's list, I had a few bad experiences with local "craftsmen". Since I began using the 'list', I have been well pleased, with everyone I have used . Exterior Additions is by far and away the best group I have contracted with.. I tend to be a tough marker and it takes a lot to satisfy me. It is a pleasure for me to provide this review. I would definitely use his group in the future and highly recommend his group to anyone.

I am so glad to hear this member was so pleased with the outcome. They had shared some horror stories of their past endeavors (with non-Angie’s providers) and I felt confident that we could meet or exceed their expectations. They were very easy to work with, access was a snap (we require access to your fuse panel during working hours). They were quick with paint color decisions and having the items we needed for our wrap up on site. With there proactive assistance we were able to bring it in roughly one week ahead of schedule and just in time for the holidays! As always Brian did an awesome job putting it all together and meeting their mark!! I wish them the utmost enjoyment with their new space, they had a beautiful backyard and now have a shaded, bug-free area to enjoy it! Doug Lynch-Owner

We met with Doug in early June to discuss replacing our existing deck with a screened porch. Doug measured and listened and then got back to us with tentative numbers (dependent on the options we selected) within a day. We met again a week or so later to see the drawings he had come up with. Doug was the only contractor to take the time to work up a complete drawing to give us a better idea of what the finished product would look like. We spent a long time talking and he answered all of our questions and had suggestions that we hadn't even considered, like EZ Breeze. We decided later that day to go forward with Exterior Additions. We had to wait about six weeks before the project began. While it was had being patient, we figured it would be worth waiting for. We were right! Construction was very quick and very well done. These guys are pros! The entire process was terrific, and the final result is a great space that looks like it was designed with the rest of the house. I would recommend Exterior Additions without hesitation.
Description of Work: Tore down existing deck and stairs, and replaced with new larger screened porch with EZ Breeze, plus an additional grilling deck, and new stairs. Doug and crew tied it all together to make it look like it was part of the original house design.

I sincerely appreciate the time this member contributed in leaving this report as well as the great picture! They were super easy to work with and I always enjoy working with clients that have expended the extra effort in making their decision. We have many accolades, accreditations and references as well as I have a very diverse knowledge base that I love to share when asked! I would like to add for future members considering our services that we typically do not provide drawings during the estimate process, regrettably in the past we have had our designs pirated by other vendors. We are happy though to provide a rendering, pre-contract signing but request that you have selected us for your project. We can then refine the design as/if needed, most of the time we have thoroughly discussed the options and there is little need for rework from a design perspective. We do though provide a very detailed written estimate for every estimate as well as I am happy to forward pictures of previous and similar projects for our perspective clients review. I know this client will get years of enjoyment from their space. Thank you again for the report! Doug Lynch-Owner

One quick word to describe Exterior Additions ... professionals! Let me start off by saying this is the largest renovation my wife and I have ever taken on and thanks to Doug and his team it was the smoothest and best renovation we have ever been involved in. When I first met Doug he asked what we were looking for and listened to what I thought I wanted. He then took his time to explain his thoughts and what he thought would look good and give us the most for our money. After thinking it over Doug again assisted my wife and I in finalizing our plan. Along the way Doug made suggestions to help us cut costs while still maintaining the level of quality we were looking for. When he told me the timeline for the work I what shocked! I know just enough about carpentry to be dangerous and what he was going to pull off in a month was simply impossible ... or so I thought. When a 2 man crew arrived I thought no way they would going to pull this off. I was wrong! Mike and Jason were simply amazing!! They had my existing porch/deck removed in a single day. They had the new 16 x 30 porch framed in two more days and to put it simply, everything from there went as smooth as possible. About 3/4 of the way through I threw a curve ball at Doug asking him if we could add a small deck to accommodate my new grill. That day Doug visited my home and emailed me 2 options ... again I was impressed. This added quite a bit of work to the already substantial job. Every day progress was made and I could see the space coming to life. I sent Doug daily emails with questions varying from what I was seeing and thoughts about what I could change. The communication between Doug and I was constant and he always replied with honest straight forward answers. Every crew that he brought to work on the job, starting with Mike and Jason to Mike the electrician, the painters and the gutter crew were professional. I had asked Doug if there was any way we could have something ready for Thanksgiving since we were expecting family in town. Again, they surpassed my expectations and fully completed the job 2 days before Thanksgiving ... completed! Done! So their speed was impressive, but that isn't even the best part! Quality ... isn't that what we are all want? The work that I am left with is the very best. At the very beginning I told Doug I wanted a space where people would be jealous and I have had several friends over who, before I even opened my mouth, made comments about how great it looked and proclaimed our porch as the new hang out. Along with the outstanding quality comes outstanding customer service. Bar none, the best I have run across ... ever! Everything Doug, Mike and Jason did was with top notch quality, as if they were building it for themselves. I can honestly say that I am beside myself at what they delivered for us ... my wife and two boys could not be any happier. Thanks Doug, Mike and Jason!! You guys ROCK!!
Description of Work: Removed an existing 12 x 12 screened porch, exterior deck and cement side walk. Built new 16 x 30 porch with an additional 10 x 13 deck with stairs. My wife and I got a total of four estimates from highly regarded contractors in the area. We had a general idea of what we wanted but obviously we are not architects. The design of our home in the back has some beautiful, unique features that created some challenges for any covered addition. When the Exterior Additons owner, Doug, came out to give us an estimate he listened to what we wanted the addition to be used for and then surveyed the back of the house where the addiiton would be. Doug told us he could certainly build something to relect our general idea but he quickly saw another design that he thought would work great with the unique features of our home. His concern was that the finished product compliment our home and not look like an "add on". . It was a departure from our original idea but both my wife and I loved it and thought it would work much better what we had in mind. Despite the fact that the new design was larger and had more upgrades the estimate from Exterior Additions was comprable or better in price than the others we received! Once started the project took just over two weeks to complete. In terms of quality of workmanship and attention to the asthetics and functionality of the final product Brian, the construction manager, was adamant about things being perfect. There were details along the way (I mentioned the columns and additional gate) that he would see and suggest tweaking. Usually the tweaks would take more time and effort on his part but his only concern seemed to be that the finished product was as close to perfect for us as it could possibly be. Doug visited the project daily as well. There was great communciation from Brian and Doug throughout the entire project. They were very open to discussing any concerns or ideas that came up during the project. The project went very smooth start to finish. Given the scope of the project and the number of people needed to bring everthing together I don't know how it could have been any better. A great combination of people who are expert at what they do and really care about customer satisfaction.
Description of Work: Replaced an existing deck with a 12 x 14 deck and a 14 x 16 open air covered porch. The flooring, stairs and uncovered railing were done with Trex decking. Removed part of our existing roof to attach roof extension covering porch and matched the existing roofing perfectly. The porch has beautiful 8" columns and full width arches connecting columns. Original plans included 4 only columns. As the roof was being put on the project manager, Brian, suggested that the porch would look more balanced with two more columns added between the deck and the porch. After getting my OK the additional columns were installed at no additional cost. The porch would have look great even without them but looks incredible with them. There is square hole heavy duty lattice around deck and porch. An access gate for under the porch was included. As the project moved along I saw that a gate on the other end would be good to have. One was added at no additional cost. A queen's truss end detail with 6" columns are at the open end of a gable roof. Boxing, siding and gutters to match existing on the home were included. Electircal included consisted of installing 3 electrical outlets, 4 can lights in ceiling, two fan installs (we provided fans) and one floodlight. All painting was done which included prep (nail holes, imperfections), priming and painting of ceiling, columns, trim, covered railings, and staining lattice around deck and porch. High quality Sherwin Williams paint and stain was used.

From start to finish Doug and his team were spot on. Extremely pleased with how well managed, how organized, efficient, the quality of workmanship, and communication from Exterior Additions throughout the project. It was obvious this project was sold and managed by people who are construction professionals. I had researched pretty extensively what I wanted before soliciting quotes on the project. Doug brought ideas to the table that I had not thought of (not up sells, but good construction points)....which demonstrated to me his knowledge and experience. Pricing was very fair, and I felt very confident with Exterior Additions from the start. Nothing was over promised or under delivered. Quite the opposite. For example, I had purchased a dog door that would not fit the door on the porch. Instead of belaboring the problem, Doug called and explained the situation and had a solution. He sent his foreman to get a dog door locally and installed it. Again, very pleased. Would highly recommend Exterior Additions to anyone considering a similar project.
Description of Work: Original builder grade deck - 20'x10' was demo'd and replaced by a 20'x14' 3-season porch. Enclosed with E-Z Breeze windows & door (with dog door), flat roof, and 10'x12' patio was installed beside the new porch.

WOW!!! If I could give Doug and his company a higher score than an A, he certainly deserves it. It was and has been been such a fabulous experience with Doug, I wish I had more projects for him to do. He is a true professional, he returns calls, he came when he said he was, he would come by and check on the progress of the project every step of the way, kept me informed with all inspections, open to suggestions and idea changes, so refreshing to work with someone who takes pride in their work and the work of his subcontrators. His subcontractors where on time everytime, very nice, extremely talented and knowledgeable of their craft, from painters, electrician and carpenters. Other contractors at the house where extremly impressed with all their work. I can not say enough wonderful thing about Doug and his company, he truly is an old style, man of his word, honest, reliable, PROFESSIONAL!
Description of Work: Demo and removal of old exsiting deck, built new 18 x 16 screen porch with 12 x 8 grill deck. Screen porch was design to fit the "Eze-breeze" system along with glass panels below the railing. Screen porch was painted and the grill deck was stained with top quality outdoor products. Outdoor speakers, 2 ceiling fans, additional outlet and a very grand staircase finished off the beautiful addition to our house.

What a fantastic report and if I could grade my clients an A+ would not even come close on this one. They were the absolute best!!!! I truly enjoyed every minute, they kept me on my toes by implementing a new glass rail system (that looks fantastic, look for pictures on our website and Facebook page in the coming weeks) and a few minor plan changes here and there. They were open to every suggestion and focused more on value rather than price, which is a rare commodity in today’s marketplace. Mike and Jason did an incredible job on the carpentry and the balance of the team really did a phenomenal job on all of the paint/roofing and electrical details. I will equally miss this client and Lester (their dog), every time I would arrive he would great me and just brighten my day. I have the utmost of confidence we will have the opportunity to work together again in the future. Thanks again-Doug

The followup and correction of any remodeling is extremely important. Doug is world class in this as he was with the porch construction and EZ Breeze installation last year. Another good reason to do business with this outstanding company!

Thank you so very much for the unexpected follow up report! I have always been a firm believer of you get what you pay for, with that said when someone works with us we stand behind what we do. Like any construction project there will be a tweak here or there that will need attention and we are here to service what we sell. You will not wait weeks for us to return, one call and it is scheduled, period. Also, I would like to add that I loved seeing our project in full use and all of the great landscaping that had been added, it was a real treat! Thanks again!- Doug

I can't believe it's taken this long to write a review about Exterior Additions. It's been in my "to-do" pile for far too long. This was an extremely positive experience from start to finish. We were introduced to Doug through our architect -- he was one of three names we were given. We were actually expecting the addition to cost far less than all the original quotes we received. Doug truly showed interest in the project and we were able to work together and modify the original plans so that he could come within our budget. We ended up talking with 5 different contractors and Doug was the only one able to show us how the project could be done for under $45K. Doug worked through all the city red-tape for us (we are on 4-mile creek and the garage fell within the SWIM buffer which required special variances). Once we got through the permitting portion of the project everything else was right on time. All the sub-contractors were punctual and professional. Doug was always easy to reach. He gave us clear instructions when we were to go out and buy items that we needed to pick out (like light fixtures and ceiling fans). We needed to dig up part of the driveway in order to pour the pad -- Doug was able to work with his sub and get us a great price on pouring the whole driveway so that we didn't have a new garage and pad with a cracked old driveway leading up to it. We have a wonderful two-car garage with plenty of storage space in the upstairs attic that Doug was able to keep in the plan. And his team did a FABULOUS job matching both the shingles and the brick so that if you didn't know it was an addition you would be hard pressed to guess. I can't enough good things about how well this went. We would absolutely talk to Doug if any other projects come up around this house or any future ones we own. He was marvelous and everything happen just as he outlined.

We had a great experience with Doug and everyone at Exterior Additions. When we first met with Doug for an estimate we weren't sure what we wanted - a composite wood deck or a simple screened in porch. We told him we were open to suggestions and he was very enthusiastic with all his ideas - more so than any of the other companies we spoke with. After talking through all the ideas, we decided to go with a screened porch with the eZeBreeze window system. The job was started on time, finished on time, and on budget. I never had any problems reaching Doug if I had a question or concern. If I left a phone message or email I would hear back within a few hours. The guys who did the work were hard-working, friendly, and left the yard looking good as new. The porch looks great and we could not be happier. They made everything so easy! We would absolutely recommend Exterior Additions.

Thank you for the awesome report!! Brian and his team did a fantastic job on this great EzeBreeze porch. I would also like to add that this client was fantastic to work with, they mentioned my great ideas but more importantly they listened to them and made a great decision! I know they will LIVE on their new porch vs a composite deck!! Thank you again- Doug

We contacted two highly rated companies on Angie's List to get ideas for adding a screened-in porch on our existing upper deck and to obtain quotes. Both companies were responsive to our inquiry. They described the element of a standard screened-in porch, identified options for us to consider, and also provided quotes for the standard porch and a number of different options. After considering the companies' reviews on Angie's List, our interaction with the companies and their quoted prices, we selected EA for this project. EA provided a contract for the project, which documented the selected options for the porch and also clearly spelled out the terms and conditions. They also included us as an additional insured on their insurance policy, per our request. Construction started on schedule. The initial work, of tearing out the old decking and railing, installing the Trex, framing for the porch and installing the railing, progressed very quickly. As is normally the case, the finishing work (electrical, painting, gutters. etc.) took more time. Even with a small problem with a few pieces of the Eze-Breeze windows, the project was completed on schedule. Interaction with EA during the construction was very good. Doug, the Owner, provided periodic updates on where things stood and what was going to happen next. Brian, EA's superintendent, was knowledgeable and professional. They both were very responsive to our questions and quickly resolved minor issues or concerns when they arose. They also willing addressed the punch list items we identified at the completion of the project. Their subcontractors did a good job as well. We had only one small surprise during the project. EA included two electrical outlets in the standard porch design and didn't identify the need for additional outlets with any of the options. When the electrical subcontractor arrived to lay out the electrical outlets, he identified that two additional outlets were required by code. The need for these additional outlets should have been identified in the original quote. Overall, we were very pleased with EA performance and finished product.
Description of Work: Exterior Additions (EA) converted our upper deck (~14'x19') to a screened-in porch, built a new landing off of the upper deck for a grill area (~8'x9'), replaced the stairs from the upper to lower decks, and replaced the decking and rails on the lower deck (~18'x20'). We selected Trex composite decking for the flooring on both the screened-in porch and lower deck, and Eze-Breeze screen/vinyl window product to enclose the screened-in porch. They also installed two fans and several electrical outlets. Lastly, they re-stained all of the existing exposed framing for both the upper and lower decks.

I sincerely appreciate this great detailed report, I really enjoyed working with this member and their final project is quite a “tree house”. This client was very easy to work with and equally patient. As they mentioned we had a slight snafu with the EzeBreeze in that two end panels were shipped the wrong color. We deal directly with the manufacturer and they had just inputted the info incorrectly. This ultimately cost us one week and while we did finish exactly when initially promised I had hoped we would be one week ahead of schedule, so I was a little disappointed it didn’t happen. I would like to also add that EzeBreeze has a great track record, we have installed well over 2000+ panels with only a handful of hiccups like this along the way and for a full custom product that accuracy is a real rarity. I would also like to discuss the outlet notation at the base of their report. We did include and install the two originally discussed outlets. Regrettably, the city had added a new code requiring an outlet on an upper landing and their home also lacked a “grade level” outlet, which then both of our included outlets were utilized in these locations. This left them with no outlets for recreational use in the porch area itself. As a General Contractor, I try to stay on top of all of the new codes however only the electrical contractor is made privy to electrical based codes when they are released. I regret that this member was not made aware of the need of these other outlets on our initial meeting and I would have been happy to include then in their original cost had I known they would be needed by the city. I did want to clarify though that this member’s included outlets would have satisfied the city's request and they chose to add additional outlets for their use. All in all, given the sheer scale of their project, the only change to the final costing was the additional outlets. I pride myself on giving a fair price and providing a quality product in a timely fashion, all within the initial contracted cost. I sincerely wish this member the best and years of use on their great EzeBreeze project. I hope to have the opportunity to assist them again in the future. Doug-Owner

We are absolutely thrilled with the new porch! Doug and his crew were the utmost professionals - responsive, punctual, thorough and committed to a quality product and a smooth experience for us. Doug is fantastic at communicating each step in the process so I knew what to expect and when. His team is highly professional - they were on time every day, cleaned up after themselves, and did beautiful work. There was nothing about this process that I would change. We had to wait about 9 weeks to get started from the time we confirmed with our deposit until construction began, but it was totally worth the wait. The porch was built and usable within 10 business days. Within 3 weeks the whole project was finished.

Thank you for the great report and AWESOME pictures!! I love to see one of our porches “in use” and with football season gearing up I am willing to bet this porch will see a ton of use. This client was great to work with! They were flexible, open to ideas, material selections and made my job easy and fun. Brian and Manny did a great job at putting it all together and Ed Italiano (Italiano Brother’s Concrete) did a sweet job on the patio and seating wall. I truly hope we will get the opportunity to work with this member in the future. I would also like to add and elaborate on the timing of this project as with the cooler weather everyone is getting “porch fever”. This member is correct in that they had around a nine week wait prior to construction. As of today, 9-11-12, we are working on a 10-12 week backlog. It seems the first question many prospective customers ask is “when can you start ?”, I would like to stress this is not how you should select your contractor. When it comes to an addition to your home a contractor’s start timing is the least important question and while it should be asked, a decision should not be based on the answer. My key to success on Angie’s list has been consistency. I do not hire dozens of crews to increase our supply during the busy season to ultimately lay them off in the winter. I use the exact same method from estimate to completion, with the same men, materials and required sub-contractors. This yields the same result every time and while it may take us a little while before we can get started, when we are there we work with an efficiency second to none. This client was great and had no issues whatsoever with our timing but I just had to take the opportunity to make clear why our timing is the way it is to future prospective Angie’s clients. Thank you again for the phenomenal report and let me know if you need anything!!! Doug-Owner

I got a response very quickly to get an estimate and they worked with me on my design idea. After the estimate was given and agreed, I was told what the estimated start time would be. Everything went according to what I had been told and the workmen were all very nice and professional. This was a great experience and I am very happy with the finished product.

OUTSTANDING=Doug Lynch/Exterior Additions. We interviewed 12 other contractors before we met Doug. Doug was unequivocally THE most knowledgeable, professional, and detail oriented contractor. His level of expertise was unmatched. Doug had a perfect solution for our design questions. Doug had a quote to us the same day he met with us...very impressive. His quote was detailed and very cost effective compared to the other quotes we received. Doug and his crew were always on time or even ahead of schedule! Their attention to detail was meticulous. These guys are masters of their trade. It is so nice to have confidence in the contractor you have put your money and trust in. If you are looking for quality, affordability and reliability, call Doug at Exterior Additions. He has his A game on!

My husband and I were very impressed with Doug Lynch (owner) when he came to our house to provide an estimate. He was very knowledgable, personable, and had several suggestions that we liked (e.g., using diagonal decking boards, connecting the trellis above the eyebrow roof, and going with a solid privacy wall with lattice at the top as opposed to simply a lattice screen). We were also impressed when we discussed what to do with the sloping path next to the deck that provided access to the backyard. This "path" was constructed of old railroad ties and was falling apart, making it very difficult to traverse. Other deck contractors that we had contacted suggested building some kind of wooden structure to deal with this area, which didn't seem ideal, but Doug suggested concrete steps. Doug was able to give us a great reference for a concrete company that often works with Exterior Additions, Italianos Brothers Concrete. We immediately liked this idea better than what the other contractors had suggested. Shortly after we met with Doug, he provided us with a cost estimate that was very much in line with what we had received from other contractors and it really was a no-brainer to choose Exterior Additions for our project.A two-man team worked on our project and they were very professional, courteous, and neat. They were also good (particularly Jason) with my two small children who watched the whole project from our sliding glass doors. Work was completed in seven days (plus about a day and a half to stain) and the finished deck really is more beautiful than we had expected. Exterior Additions did a good job of coordinating their own teams members, along with a plumber who installed a hose bib and the painters who did the staining. They also worked well with the concrete team.We are very happy with our new deck and are glad we chose Exterior Additions for this project. Their work was done well and Doug is an excellent communicator, which I think is very important when dealing with a contractor for a large project. I was never confused about what was going on and he was always wiling and available to answer questions. We are still working with Doug regarding a small fix that needs to be made to the gate at the top of the stairs, but he has been very responsive in resolving this matter and I am confident that the gate will soon match the level of excellent of the rest of the deck.
Description of Work: Exterior Additions took down our old 32 ft x 14 ft partially-rotted deck and built a new, beautiful pressure treated wood deck (same size). The new deck includes a privacy screen on one side, a 10 ft x 14 ft trellis, square lattice below, and a stairway.

We began looking for a contractor in January. After a number of interviews and then researching Angies List, I found Exterior Additions and liked the reviews posted. I called the owner, Doug Lynch, who promptly set up and interview and site evaluation. Doug arrived at the appointed time and was unbelievably knowledgeable and courteous to a fault. He answered all my questions to my satisfaction even when I preempted some of them with begging the issue and playing devils advocate. He quickly and accurately developed a cogent plan, submitted a proposal for review and completed all the fine tuning in response to various tweaks we desired to the initial plan. Doug set up all necessary permits and began the job as delineated. The project was complete in four days as promised, and the site was left in immaculate condition. Doug was always immediately available through phone, email and personal visits to our home as indicated. He deserves an eternal reward for having to endure my "pickiness" through the construction phase. He is the contractor that everyone wishes (and prays) to find.

What a super report!! First and foremost, in this client's defense they were far from “picky” (trust me, I know). A better descriptive term would be inquisitive. I am a huge fan of questions and I want the consumer to be as comfortable as possible with the process. Let’s face it, unless you are a contractor, there are going to be questions that arise during the process. I would much rather breach 100 questions than have one miss-communication because a question was not asked. This client was truly as close to a perfect client that you could have. He was very receptive to product selection, did his own independent research and he trusted us that we would deliver the final product meeting his expectations. I am in the business of making people happy and business is good. Thank you again for the wonderful report! Doug-Owner
