The owner Doug Lynch came to our house and asked in detail what exactly we wanted. We told him we want someplace to sit and relax in any weather. He drew up plans and we changed a few little things here and there but stayed with his plan for the most part. He suggested the Easy Breeze window and screen combination, so that it would be a more year around place to enjoy. We absolutely love it. We eat breakfast and dinner most day out there. And the windows are really easy to clean. The project went very smoothly and the house looks great with the porch on the back. Our subdivision has porches that were built by the builder and none of them look as nice as ours. Doug Lynch is an excellent contractor and uses very professional teams of framers, carpenters, electricians, and roofers. We are very very happy with our porch and will use Exterior Additions again in the future for any projects I dream up.

We contacted 3 different highly rated vendors on Angie's List for quotes and Exterior Additions was the one we chose for our project. Their price was on the higher end (though not the highest) but from prior experience I know that going with who you feel comfortable with in terms of knowledge and ability to follow through with what they commit to is at least as important, i.e. you are getting value for your price. Doug provided a detailed estimate, including a few optional items we discussed (aluminum rails, broke out painting cost in case we wanted to paint ourselves) and a drawing of the work that we were able to easily use for getting HOA approval for the project. Doug also discussed with us how we could screen the porch in as a future follow-up project if we wanted--he was very flexible and made our options easy to understand. We contracted in June though they did not start working until August (which we expected and they clearly stated up front due to being busy). They installed a shed roof (approx. 15 x 15) over the deck, including fan and lighting, new spindles and railing, and painting. The entire project start to finish (not including inspection) took just over a week, and it would've been shorter without the inclement weather. It was also helpful to have a crew that, with the exception of the painting sub, were all native English-speaking, making it easy to communicate. My only small criticism, and it really is just a "what could they have done better" in an otherwise excellent experience: I had asked not to have debris blocking the sidewalk out of consideration for our neighbors (including many young kids in the neighborhood--there were nails and screws sticking out of the old railing) but the debris extended a foot into the sidewalk. My wife and I ended up moving it ourselves, though they likely would've fixed it the next day after I had informed Doug. And to be fair, I did also ask them to use one side of the driveway not the yard, which they did (we ended up putting some of it in the yard because of the amount to get it out of the sidewalk). I would also point out that overall they were very diligent about cleaning up after themselves. I think I found 3-4 nails/screws and one small bit of metal to pick up after they were done, and *that's it*, compared to the mess most contractors leave behind. And they also never left debris more than a day or two after doing work. We absolutely love our new porch and thank Doug and the crew at Exterior Additions for their great work. We absolutely would use them again (and in fact have already recommended him to a neighbor).

The whole experience with Doug and his crew was excellent. We were impressed with Doug from our first meeting and our opinion just improved as the job went forward. All the crew were professional and did amazing work. They were very courteous of our property and went above and beyond to protect our landscaping from damage, which was one of my concerns. Doug was very helpful in the design of our porch, as we were not educated on the materials available in today's market nor the pros and cons of using different materials. He and his crew solved a few challenges of attaching our porch to the existing house and it is beautiful! Doug was prompt on answering any questions we had and was always available. It was a please to work with this company and we recommend Exterior Additions to anyone who is looking for a contractor for additions to their home.

The entire process, from start to finish, could not have gone smoother. We originally received three estimates. All three estimates were within $1,000.00 of each other. However, the other estimates did not include the screened in porch with EZBreeze windows. That made our decision easy. Doug was prompt for all appointments. He kept us updated on the status of our build (wait time and approximate start date) and was always available when we had questions about any part or step of the build. An email or call to Doug was always returned within 24 hours. Usually it was returned within hours of the original call or email. The actual build was very quick but thorough and professionally completed. All work and materials were of excellent quality as stated in our contract with Exterior Additions. There were a couple of issues that popped up along the way but they were immediately addressed by Doug and his team. 1) Two boards on our lower resurfaced deck. One splintered/sheared near the area that was screwed in. The other board was not even (flat) with the rest of the decking. 2) Wood grade stamp was showing on our stairway leading up the main deck leading into the screened in porch. Eye sore due to it being in the very middle of the stairway right at eye level. AGAIN, both of these issues were immediately addressed by Doug once we raised them to his attention. The two pieces of deck boards were replaced and restained and the wood grade stamp was sanded off and restained. Both match perfectly with the rest of the decking/color. The only real negative was the wait time for our deck build to begin. We waited approximately 3 months. However, we were notified of that before we signed the contract and we agreed to it. Also, this is a good indication of the quality of work that Doug and his team delivers. Very well worth the wait. We are extremely happy with our new screened in porch/deck. Our choice to go with the EzBreeze windows was a good one and we would highly recommend them to anyone that asks. The quality of the build was top notch. Highly recommend Doug and Exterior Additions

Doug was very helpful and has a strong committment to customer satisfaction from start to finish. Tho we had to wait longer than we wanted to get on his work schedule, the finished product was worth the wait. Brian, the supervisor, and his crew were very easy to work with, professional and committed to getting the job done right and on time, even showing up at the threat of rain and working around downpours just to get the job done in a timely manner.

I joined Angie's List just so I could provide a review of the service provided by Doug and his company. I had contacted Doug to ask if he could provide and install the EZ Breeze panels on my existing porch. I had gotten his name from a friend who was a member of Angie's List at the time. Unfortunately we are outside of his service area to do the install. But what he was able to do was order the panels and deliver them to us. He even provided guidance on what we could do to make the installation easier (moving some supports). Doug responded almost immediately to my e-mails which is amazing considering the amount of work he is doing. I follow his company on Facebook and he is creating some beautiful spaces. The young man who delivered the panels was prompt and brought everything we needed to complete the job-screws, door knob and some advice. The panels really were easy to install, just like Doug said. The door was a little trickier but I had a good handyman doing the install. And Doug had cut the hole in the door for the dog door so all we had to do was put it in place (Gracie says thanks!). And the best part is we can now enjoy our porch without having to clean the pollen, dust and dirt that always seemed to collect on it. Doug provides the best customer service that I think I have ever experienced from a company that does what he does. Thanks to Doug and company!

I?m the person who originally entered Exterior Additions on Angie?s List in the Fall of 2001 after they built our sunroom and deck. Exterior Additions was a pretty new company then. Our project in 2001 came off without a single glitch. We didn?t have one of those horror stories you hear about that stresses folks out. I work in engineering/construction of Power Plants, so I have to warn folks that I?m not easily satisfied and I don?t tolerate questionable work. If it isn?t right I get nervous. This time I didn?t just jump right into Angie?s List and post my review of our new project because I wanted to get past the ?high? of seeing a dream become reality. So I?m posting this review a couple of months after the completion of our project and living with it. This second project built by Exterior Additions was a more complex project inside the house, not outside. Last Fall, after working with an architect, I got quotes from 3 remodeling contractors to take down two load bearing walls between my kitchen, living room and dining room and make some other changes too. I wanted input from at least 3 contractors to discuss this project, hear their thoughts and approaches to the work, and get quotes. The other quotes were all higher. Part of my selection criteria included knowing that whatever builder I chose, that person and their entire team would have total access to my whole house and everything in it. I had to have someone that I could trust 100%. We chose Exterior Additions for the second time. Doug not only gave us the lowest bid, but also had a team we TRUSTED in EVERY respect. Our trust wasn?t violated. Doug and his entire team take great pride in every aspect of their work. They are quality and customer focused. They took out walls and converted our living room, dining room and kitchen to a beautiful great room. We now have a gorgeous ?new? home. When our friends and family see it for the first time, their breath is taken away at the increased functionality, beauty and updating of the area. Just as in the project in 2001, the work went perfectly smooth from this customer?s perspective. We didn?t experience a single glitch. Doug?s ENTIRE TEAM does superior work. We can?t say enough about our satisfaction with EVERY aspect of this project. We can?t recommend them enough either. Our second experience with Exterior Additions has been just as good as the first, or even better. We are Very Happy with our ?new? home which is now much more valuable than before. I?m giving you, the reader, this honest report after doing business with Exterior Additions twice. We got a great value for our investment and the end result we wanted. Exterior Additions has the ?it? factor. And you know ?it ?when you meet them and work with them. Thanks Exterior Additions for making my dream a reality. And Doug keeps his word. He remembers what he says and he follows through 100%. My last comment is that Doug and his team listen and respect you. They respond immediately to your call or email. They want you to be VERY HAPPY with your investment in your home and in them.

Our experience with Exterior Additions was WONDERFUL! Doug was easily available to answer all our questions throughout the entire process. The carpenters, painters, electrician and roofers were all great. We were under a deadline due to a party that was being held at our house and the project was finished, as Doug promised, with a few days to spare! I can't say enough about how excellent my porch is!!!! The rest of our house feels neglected because we are only spending time out on the porch. Doug and his team were extremely flexible. And in fact, worked with us on several modifications and upgrades that we wanted even after the project was started. One of our upgrades was to add the Eze-Breeze system to our porch. That was such an excellent decision. Even with all the storms and rain we have had recently we have been able enjoy the porch thanks to the Eze-Breeze system. After seeing the Eze-Breeze system several of our friends and family have inquired about the product. We would highly recommend Exterior Additions!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!! We could not ask for more when it comes to our experience with Exterior Additions. Doug was at our beck and call through the entire process. If we had a question or concern, he had an answer or solution. They were all professional and courteous. Doug was very knowledgeable and presented different ideas that were cost effective and fit our budget. He is very mindful of a budget and did everything he could to stay within it. I would highly recommend Exterior Additions to everyone and will do so every chance I get.

Doug Lynch and his team are awesome (and, I never use that word). I wanted our second story outside deck replaced with a completely covered outdoor room with screens with an additional smaller uncovered deck next to it with stairs leading down to the back yard. This was difficult work because we have a 3 story house and the deck is on the second floor. I was afraid the estimate would come in at a price I couldn't afford but when I saw the price, I was floored. It was about $10,000 less than what I thought it would be. I thought I'd have to give up my second deck but I got it all. The drawing Doug did was beautiful. I would never have been able to design it but luckily Doug did. The outside room was supposed to have been started at the end of June of 2013 but we got a call Mother's Day weekend asking if we wanted it done early. Of course we did. The old deck was removed and the flooring of the new room was done in one day. Within a week, the room was practically finished (everything but the screens and the Eze-Breeze windows). Its all done now and I can't tell you how beautiful it is. We had our first outdoor party this last weekend for my mother's birthday and got so many compliments. My 94 year old mother sits out there and looks out at the trees and loves it. Thank you Doug for your company's hard work, for your gorgeous design and for getting it all done for my mother's birthday party.

Doug and his crew did a great job. From the initial scope of work and quote everything was very professional. His prices are very reasonable considering the experience of his crew. Everything was fast and smooth. His team had the addition up in an amazingly short time, but watching them I could see them measuring and re-measuring everything before actually putting it in. We had a few minor change requests along the way which he graciously made at no cost (although it obviously cost him some minor materials cost). Every question or concern we had (we're picky) he quickly listened to and addressed. After the project was done and we had paid him, about a week later we realized we weren't happy with the look of the hardi-shake siding (which was in the contract). We called him up and requested he special-order the shakes that are on our house just to have everything match 100% with the existing house. Even though this meant extra time on his part to track them down and order them with the supplier (not something a consumer can easily purchase) he did it at his materials + base labor cost. Even after the project was done and he had full payment he still cared about our satisfaction and went the extra mile. That says something. As someone who has never used a general contractor before, I would call Doug again without hesitation for any future project I had. A great experience.

Beautiful finished product. Doug and his team were extremely responsive to all of our questions. We interviewed multiple contractors and Doug offered us the best solutions.

I went beautifully. from my first meeting with Josh to my final meeting with Doug and Josh, The planning, the time that Brian's crew was here, the wiring work that Steve did, and the painting that Carlos did was totally painless for me as the homeowner. Everyone was pleasant and personable, they were patient with questions and kept me up to date as what to expect next. I could not be happier with the finished product. My challenge is to make sure that the decoartion is on par with the porch.

I live in Cornelius, NC, and after speaking with a great guy named Doug, it turns out I'm just a smidge outside Exterior Additions' territory. Nevertheless, Doug was open and available to answer any and all questions that I had, spending a good amount of time on the phone as if I were a paying customer. He gave me great insight into the industry, as well as some good advice on how to proceed with my project. He even left the door open to contact him if I don't find a builder in my area that suites my needs. If this incredible customer service and professionalism is any indication of their workmanship and quality, then I'll be the first in line to hire them if they ever expand their region or if I move within their territory. Great people!

There was "finger pointing" at first, between Exterior Additions and the door supplier, but very quickly everything was ironed out, the parts were ordered, and the work was scheduled. I am very happy with the result - it certainly appears to have been done properly and with great care.

Doug's performance continues to get better over the years! After our first experience with Exterior Additions in 2005, we once again engaged Doug to perform additions to our new house in 2013. Doug came out to discuss our new project needs and to provide a quote for the deck project. He educated us on the newest TREX product to ensure we could make an informed decision on which deck material to use. In addition, he listened to our potential future needs, and provided us with a quote with the foundation to prime us for potential future addition of a deck roof or screened in porch. Again, we found the contract and scheduling process smooth and accurate. Doug's continued excellence in communicating a start date was excellent. A week and also 24 hours prior to the project start date; he reached out to us with expectations for the project. The crew showed up on time and the materials were delivered timely and accurately. The project concluded exactly to the timeline, even with a small half day of rain, they managed to get it all completed. His follow-up to let us know who would be coming to pick up the remaining construction trash / materials was on target as well. We never felt that there was ever construction really occurring at our house - it was that smooth. From quote to project delivery, the professionalism of Exterior Additions is unmatched. We continue to recommend Doug to any of our friends and neighbors and will use Doug for all future remodeling needs we have. Thank you Doug and Team!

I was referred to Exterior Additions by a friend of mine that had used them to build a deck / screened in porch about 5 years ago. I moved into my new home in February, and wanted to add a screened in porch. I love outdoor living. I met with Doug Lynch in late January to get an estimate, as well as a few other builders to compare prices. At my previous address, I also had a screen porch built (by another builder), so I knew what I wanted and did not want. Doug?s estimate was not the cheapest, but it was the most thorough ? he detailed everything with options for upgrades. One of the upgrades was to add EZ breeze windows. I wasn?t sure about them, but they allow you to enjoy your space year round (still give you screens to enjoy the breeze, but with an option to close them off with a ?sliding window? that can close out rain, cold, pollen, etc. Doug educated me about the upgrade, but did not ?push? it on me. He was not out to make an extra buck, but sincerely wanted the space to be everything I wanted. One of the things that he didn?t tell me about, but I was happily surprised at, was the incredible detail and quality he and his crew put into the project. They installed crown molding, put beautiful architectural seems down the beadboard ceiling, recessed every bolt, etc. My old porch (which I loved on my previous home) and this new porch that Doug built are nothing in comparison. My new porch is a beautiful additional living space?not simply a screened in porch. It is stunning!!!! It really has increased the value of my home, and I love being in it every day. While build quality is important to us all, the professionalism and promptness of his team were also outstanding. They did everything and MORE than they said they would. He was VERY responsive, polite, helpful, and just a wonderful person to work with. He gets the highest rating from me on all counts. Loved the experience, and can sing his praises all day long.

It was a fantastic experience!! When we began considering this project (the largest improvement we've ever done), we had interviewed a few potential contractors. Doug came out to meet with us, and it was evident that he had great vision, was very professional, easy to talk to, and focused on quality. After determining that we wanted to work with Doug, the most challenging thing for us was to wait until it was our turn! His demand is high, and is a perfectionist. As a result he doesn't rush other jobs and only works with his contractors (rather than bringing in outside crews). He coordinated our concrete work through Italiano Brothers, and also brought in his electrician (Stephen Neal) to complete the job. Once everyone began, it was amazing to see how quickly the project went up. Communication was steady between all parties involved throughout the process. The finished project well exceeded our expectations and we couldn't be more pleased.

We are thrilled with the results of this project by Doug and team. We gravitated to Exterior Additions based on the Angie's List reviews and feedback from neighbors who have used them. From the very beginning, I was struck by how transparent Doug is around the quality of the craftsmanship, pricing, build time and his desire for us to be nothing but thrilled. They exceeded our expectations. I never felt like any corners were being cut with this team. The lumber is top-notch (you could see his crew inspect each board before cutting it) and build style is meant to complement your home (and neighborhood). It was refreshing to find a company that has equally enthusiastic employees as the owner. The team checked in with us multiple times throughout the week and made sure that the yard remained cleanly throughout the construction. The electrician they use is also fantastic, which I'll cover in a separate review. Last Saturday the Mecklenburg County inspector came out to do a final inspection of the structure and electrical. The inspector asked me if this was an Exterior Additions job, and when I confirmed he stated that he's always impressed by the quality of the work and that they so rarely run into any issues. That was the icing on the cake for us. Great job and we are loving our new room.

Doug and his team were excellent from day one, providing detailed quotes, working with us on the concept, and adapting to our changes in direction. They were always punctual, the quality of their work was very high, and they were very responsive to returning after completion of the project to help with minor fixes/updates.

Doug Lynch did a fantastic job of communicating with us so that we knew what was happening and when. The construction crews were prompt and punctual every day construction was done. Above all, the quality of the work has far surpassed our expectations. The materials used are of very high quality. All workers who helped on our project were friendly and very informative. Every member of the Exterior Additions team helped us through this process and made it very easy and pain-free. We absolutely love our new enclosed patio. We would absolutely use Exterior Additions again for any other home addition projects we decide on in the future. The quality of the work is what we are most pleased with. The help we received through the entire process was superb. Highly recommended.

Doug was very responsive and extremely helpful from start to finish. We called him, he came out and took measurements and made some suggestions that were very helpful. We received the estimate a few days later and started the project only a few weeks later. Exterior Additions ONLY performs work to the highest standard, without any shortcuts. Every Sub-Contractor they brought in was also extremely professional and everybody working on this project did an excellent job. We learned that outdoor additions have a great return rate when it comes to selling the house, so you might have to do it right in the first place. I think this will not just be a fun outdoor place for us now, it also is a great investment in the house. I can only speak highly about all the work that has been done. Even when there were smaller problems, they always took great care of us. Thanks again to Doug and his team !

Doug from Exterior Additions came to our home to give us an estimate and some ideas on what his company could do. We were immediately taken aback with the information, ideas and new products he would be using. We did have 3 other contractors come over and provide ideas and give estimates. When all the estimates were back--we could hardly believe that the one with the lowest price was the one with the best plan. So as sometime things are just too good to be true, we called 3 people that had the same kind of work done by Exterior Additions and all gave glowing reviews. Still hard to believe it would turn out as good as the blueprints and pictures looked. WOW--is the first thing that comes to mind! Two amazing carpenters, Mike and Jason, arrived on the job the first day and hammered out more work than a normal crew of six would do. The workers were amazing and made sure everything was perfect, absolutely perfect! The quality of the wood and products used were the BEST. Our son was amazed that he could only find one knot in all of the wood used in the entire deck and sunroom. The floors are beautiful! The safety railing around the sunroom and deck are beyond beautiful! The walls, ceiling and roof are perfect. The entire structure blends into the house like it was always there. It matches the existing structure perfectly. OK, now for the really great part---the windows!!!!! Do not think of this as your average sunroom--oh no, we do not just have regular silly Anderson or Pella. Exterior Additions installed windows that are their specialty. You can not imagine the beauty of these amazing windows until you actually see them. It looks much more like a conservatory than a sunroom. The windows open from top or bottom and the entire wall is window. We can have all window or all screen. It is a sunroom/screen room/conservatory but mostly it is very well built, safe, up to the highest standards and amazingly beautiful. Can not end this without a comment about Doug and his employees. Always available, dependable and courteous. Something Doug did that makes a difference is his contribution of wood to the projects we work on to make money to feed children. When we were caught digging through the dumpster at the end of a work day and picking out pieces of wood, we explained why and both Mike and Jason set aside usable wood for us. Doug has made some very generous "wood" contributions to the cause. Exterior Additions not only builds the best but has a heart that truly cares. .
