I was quoted a very reasonable price compared with my other estimate, and they installed my new system in one day. All the workers have been very polite and professional. The only reason I didn't give them al "a"s is that I am having some issues with my new system, and even though it will be covered under warranty, The office staff has been a bit dismissive of me on the phone, and I don't feel as though they understand how frustrated I feel with the repeated hassles I am experiencing. If I get brand new everything, I expect it to work. I'm currently waiting another week or so until a new part comes in, so I can get my system fixed again.

I want to say, up front, that I get absolutely nothing for writing this review - I'm actually very busy with a new baby but I'm taking time to write this detailed review because of the excellent workmanship and experience that I received from Air Central of the Carolinas. I wish them nothing but the best in the future and I will continue to have an annual agreement with them - and will recommend them to anyone that needs HVAC work done! If you want an HVAC company that you can trust, that works hard, that provides a fair price (actually pretty good price!), and that follows up on everything, then Air Central of the Carolinas is the company for you. For me, they didn't just look at my old and torn up ducting as a direct replacement, we walked through the redesign of the ducting system and they implemented a solution THAT NOW HAS MY BONUS ROOM COLD IN THIS 80+ DEGREE WEATHER!!! Yes, my bonus room now stays warm on cold nights and cold (NOT just cool) on hot days!!! I'm an Engineer, half German, and do most of the work around my house myself - needless to say I'm pretty picky when I bring someone in to do work on my home. I got a couple quotes, but mostly I was looking to talk to the different companies to see what feeling I got from them. Were they just looking for make a quick fix and a quick buck? Were they looking to see how much they could sell me? Wesley, his family, and their employees never once made me feel this way - on the contrary, I discussed my concerns and my thoughts and they came up with a plan that matched my VERY HIGH expectations. They were very accommodating to me in every way...I mean to say that they went above and beyond the call of duty in a couple of instances. I wanted to raise the floor in my upper attic prior to them performing this work - Wesley sent 2 of his guys to unhook the furnace and help me lift and secure it about 2 feet off the ground so I could get the floor raising done prior to them doing their work -- and he didn't charge me anything for this service!!! I mean, who does that now a days? After I finished my work, they came in and ripped everything out and then installed the newly designed ducting system...they estimated two (2) days to complete the work, but they finished in less than a day and a half. I really don't know how to describe how happy I was and still am with their level of service, workmanship, and dedication. And they cleaned up very well after they left - no dust anywhere. Did I mention that with their redesign my bonus room stays cool when it is 90 degrees outside?!? :-) I will add pictures to this review at a later date - I have to finish some work that I have been doing first (and clean up my mess) - this is only fair to people reading this review so as not to confuse what they did vs. what I'm doing now for energy efficiency.

The workmen were neat and made sure that rugs etc. were protected by drop cloths. The job was started when they said it would, and finished as estimated, one an a half days. Exterior drains were painted, all openings sealed, a solid base for the condenser installed. They cleaned up when the job was done, and were careful not to make messes.
Description of Work: The company replaced most of our A/C system and added A/C to an attached garage. Their estimate was the most realistic, as they did not try to get the job by cutting corners, nor tring to sell us bells and whistles. Their product line is rated tops by Consumer Reports, and they used quality ducting materials etc. The installation was done to industry standards and care was taken in every detail.

I contacted Air Central of the Carolinas for a competitive bid on AC replacement on a Wednesday. Weseley reviewed my home and had a quote to me on Thursday. My new unit (American Standard) was completely installed by the end of the day Friday! Incredible service. In addition, their price was 15% less than the next lowest bid. The workers were courteous and took care to protect my home from dirt and debris associated with the removals. The crew arrived on time and completed the job in a timely manner. We also love the WIFI enabled thermostat which was standard but an upgrade from the competition. Highly recommend Air Central of the Carolinas.
Description of Work: Air Central replaced the outdoor unit for my upstairs AC. They also replaced a supply ductwork box and return ductwork to better match the HVAC requirements of my home.

Trane and American Standard units seem to be essentially the same product, built by the same company. However, bids I received from Trane Dealers were $1000 to $2,300 higher than the quote I got from Air Central for a comparable American Standard heating & cooling unit. I got several bids. All but one of the bids were straight forward. One bid from a local large company seemed intentionally hard to understand. It really is worth getting a few bids on this kind of work. I saved a significant amount of money and didn't have to sacrifice the quality of the equipment installed. Air Central was always fast to return phone calls and showed up when the said they would. The installation passed the County Mechanical Permit inspection on the first try (always a crowd pleaser). The employees were unfailingly helpful and polite. A great bunch of people to work with. Heartily recommend them.
Description of Work: We have two rooms in the back of our house that were added by a previous owner. The rooms ran off a heat pump that was 12-14 years old. Previous technicians had told me repairing the unit on the next failure would not be the way to go. I decided to look at new units. Air Central installed a new American Standard heat pump for these two rooms and hauled the old unit away.

Our furnace, which in the winter can sweat us out of the house if needed, was blowing cool air and the house was getting cold. At 8:30 AM I called for an appointment and received one for 10:30 AM the same day. The technician was 30 minutes early, diagnosed the problem in 5 minutes and fixed it in less than 20. The price for service was good, especially since the service was completed so fast. I got a couple of estimates for other related services while the technician was here. Fast, reasonable, pleasant and knowledgeable. I could not ask for a better experience.

Air Central of the Carolinas had the best price of anyone I checked with. These guys went out of their way to get the work done. Part of the well collapsed and we didn't have water for 25 days. Then we were without A/C and heating for nearly two months at the coldest time of the year. This experience was outstanding. These guys came out at the last minute and did the whole job of fitting a new furnace and A/C system in one day. They came out another time to fit a valve so I could flush the system from my tank, and fitted a vent.

We bought a "fixer-upper". We had repaired the foundation, replaced the roof and fixed a bat and termite problem. We knew our 20 year old heating and air conditioning unit needed to be replaced but the former problems took precedence. Our 20 air conditioner went out during the hottest week of 2012. We called our warranty company, 2-10 Warranty, and the soonest they could send anyone was 5 days out. We were suffering 101+ degree days here in Charlotte and we had no resources to get us through the oppressive heat. The representative was rude and unconcerned about our situation. Our neighbor recommended we call Wesley and Vance of Air Central of the Carolinas. They came out immediately. The bad news was our unit was toast. The good news was they could get it to work half-mast until we could get it replaced, which they did. We sat down with Wesley and went over our options. The heating/ac unit was no longer up to code so we faced replacing the entire system. He was patient and went over the numbers with us. We bit the bullet and contracted Air Central of the Carolinas. They set up an appointment to replace the system on the day our warranty company said they could send out a tech to just check the system. The technicians were prompt, courteous and VERY neat. It did take most of the day to do the work but they did a stellar job! They didn't even charge us to get our AC to limp us through until the replacement. The end result is we have made it through the winter and our former average $90 gas bill and $190 electric bill have been reduced to an average $10 gas bill and a $75 electric. We couldn't be happier with the way things turned out. I would recommend this company to EVERYONE!

I called on a Sunday morning. They sent someone over within 2 hours. He diagnosed the problem quickly and told us the problem and promised to call the next morning with a quote. He called first thing in the morning, got my ok to proceed, and scheduled a time to do the repair. They were running behind and were a little late, but they told us and we picked another time. They did the repair quickly and it works fine. They were very thorough and very professional, and the price was actually less than the original quote.. I would definitely use them again.

Our system was the original eighteen year old unit and rather than wait for it to fail we chose to find the most competitive and efficient replacement. Air Central was fair and listened to our needs prior to offering a competitve system. They did the complete install in one day and removed all debris and cleaned up behind themselves. Wesley and Vance were very patient with our questions and took the time to provide answers we could understand. From the bidding process through the installation, the staff was professional, knowledgeable, and timely. They came when they said they would and provided in-depth information on the products available for installation. When I chose them to do the installation, an appointment was made for the same week. The workers who came to do the installation were punctual and very tidy in their work. They used drop cloths on every inch of the inside and even vacuumed the carpet near the entrance to the attic at the end of the installation. They worked rapidly as a team and installed both the furnace and the air conditioner in about 7 hours. The office staff called to schedule the local inspector, and they both registered the warranty for the product and applied for a rebate from my natural gas provider. Wesley phoned a couple of days after the installation to see if I was satisfied. When I told him that the return air duct was making a whistling noise that was disturbing during the night, he immediately set up a time to return to the house to make an adjustment. He knew exactly how to make the noise go away, and I am completely satisfied with the work and with the equipment that was installed. I highly recommend Air Central to anyone needing a new unit or repair of an existing system. I have changed my contract from another local HVAC company to Air Central as a result of their great customer service.

The air conditioner stopped working in a rental unit we own, and just after hearing the tenant?s complaint I called Air Central. The representative on the phone was very friendly and helpful. I placed my call around 9am and they had someone onsite by 11am to check it out. Wesley met me at the rental property and was great. He was totally professional and easy to speak with. It turned out the system was suffering only from a clogged drain line, and Wesley did a thorough job of cleaning it and making sure the AC worked well and was cooling again! Description of Work: The primary blower had failed as a result of the main control circuit board which needed to be replaced. They hot-wired the motor so it would run and give us AC while they went and got parts. When the inside temperature read 91, I called for service and Emily answered the phone. Emily was courteous and helpful; she told me to expect a confirmation call 30 minutes before the technician would arrive. Dwayne called when he was about 30 minutes away; he asked about the problem and confirmed that I had turned the unit off. He arrived 30 minutes later and said that he would go check on the unit - when he came back he asked me to turn it back on an wala! the cold air! He wanted to check the freon level but it was raining pretty hard which he said would throw off the reading. By then the inside temp read 86. Dwayne checked the air temp coming out of the vent and seemed satisfied. The service I received was excellent - prompt and very reasonably priced. I highly recommend this service provider! Thank you Dwayne and Emily!!

I called Air Central of the Carolinas and within the day someone was there to fix my AC unit. A small repair was needed and my unit was back up and running.
Description of Work: I have used Air Central of the Carolinas over the years to service my AC and fix problems. As usual they are punctual, friendly and they fix the problem. Worst experience with a vendor of any kind to date. They fixed a switch on our lower level a/c unit. 2 weeks later the unit shut off again. I called to ask what could be the problem (on a Saturday) and no one could give me any trouble shooting over the phone ''because they don't have my paperwork in front of them'' and I even waited until Monday to have someone trouble shoot over the phone before coming to avoid paying an unnecessary trip charge if it was something simple. I told the lady on the phone at that time I was not happy with their customer service. Then the husband called me and said to flip the switch on the condensate pump beside the unit. That didn't fix the issue. So then they come out to see what's wrong and in less than 5 minutes the man realizes it is the GFI on the outlet where the pump is plugged in got tripped. That was IT!!!! Couldn't that have been suggested on the phone before coming? Wouldn't that be #2 on the list of possible things....so then I got charged a $100 trip charge for that. Wasn't happy about that at all!Then I get a call from the office people after they have my credit card number the technician took down on the invoice and they tell me my credit card is declined. So I go online to capitalone and look and see TWO charges from Air Central. I explain to them there are 2 pending charges and the credit card company is probably not allowing them to keep duplicating the same amount. They have BAGGERED ME about this credit card being declined crap although I have used that same credit card almost 10 times!!! since they initially processed and I have even emailed them a picture of where they are paid on my online account because they keep harassing me that they keep running the card and it is still declined. I just went to Harris Teeter and used the card for groceries, I bought dinner for my family last night at Moes'. All of these are going through and their transaction already went through on 7/12 yet they keep calling me as if it is my fault and I'm trying to not pay them. All in all, HORRIBLE customer service, abuse of the 'trip charge'....since when can a company not be any more helpful on the phone first and spend 5 minutes giving the top 'most likely' reasons why it shut off. I will NEVER use these people again and I suggest you don't either. Not happy being harassed about my credit card when it is something on their end that is at fault. I don't like the insinuation that I am lying or failing to pay them their charge that I do really think is already unfair.

Wesley called me and bribed me with $25 off my bill if I'd take my Angie's list comments off presumably before they wrote their reply. I did not try to suggest the switch was messed up. The guy came in and I listened to what he said. I didn't follow him around the house. I met him down in the basement when he walked around the house so I could unlock the dang door because he didn't have booties to wear and I didn't want him wearing shoes all the way through my house. The first bill for this job was late because we had just moved and it got lost in the shuffle but I had used this company at 2 rental houses previously within the past month and paid right on time and had a history of making payment. They will say whatever for their own interest. Obviously, I do not see them as a quality company and they will try to defend themselves.

Response from AIR CENTRAL OF THE CAROLINAS
Work History for Member We went to the house on 6/11/2012 and found that the thermostat had no display. The service tech. checked the unit out and found a bad switch. We replaced the switch and the system operated fine. We went back to the house on 7/11/2012 and found that there was a tripped GFI in the basement area. We reset the GFI and the unit has been working. When we were orginally called to go to her house the issue was that the unit did not have a display on the thermostat. When we arrived to the house we found the house was turned upside down. There were several contractors working in the basement on a mold issue. We checked the unit out and found a bad switch (normal issue) and fixed it. Her unit worked for a whole month before we ever heard back from her. She called us back on a Saturday almost a month later and told us the unit was not working. We scheduled an appointment right away to check the system out on Monday (since it was only servicing the basement and she had 3 units). The whole conversation with her on the phone was that it was a warranty issue. Mrs. Beasley then proceeds to tell us if we do not come out and fix it for FREE that she was going to leave us a bad report on Angies List. The client prior to even knowing what was going on was ready to threaten us with a bad report. She called us back last minute on Monday to cancel saying the unit was working. She then called us back on Tuesday to tell us again to come right out and fix it for free. She wanted us to trouble shoot her issue over the phone. That is impossible. There are no two houses the same in Charlotte. We arrived at her house, checked the unit out and promptly fixed the issue. She followed the service tech. around the house the whole time trying to persuade him to say it was the switch from the prior call. The issue was the GFI was tripped. The GFI can trip for any reason (ex. hair straighter, to many things plugged up). The GFI in all homes are tied together in series and to protect against electrical shock. The GFI being tripped is not a heating and air issue, it is an electrical issue. These have been only minor issues. The cost to her was a total of 213.60 for two calls. This is a minor cost compared to what they could have been. (Note we did not Baddger her for payment.) The orginal bill was from June the 11 of 2012 which is a month over due. This is just standard business practices. Nobody goes over thirty days. With the credit card being declined 6 times the office wanted to clarify all her informantion to make sure that we were not the reason of the card being declined. We needed to be paid. (Note nothing in her letter was about the workmanship. The only issue was all about the money not the service).
