Description of Work: Came by once to give an estimate to install gutter guards then never provided the estimate and so far has never answered my request for a price on doing attic insulation. Thought I'd give them a second chance guess that was not a great idea.

+ -1 moreAUSTIN INSULATING CO. WAS SUBCONTRACTED BY OUR GENERAL CONTRACTOR TOTAL CLEANING AND RESTORATION. THEY WERE SCHEDULED TO REPLACE INSULATION AND INSTALL A VAPOR BARRIER IN OUR TOWNHOUSE IN SUPPORT OF A CLOSING SALE. AUSTIN INSULATING DELAYED THEIR WORK AND THEN DID NOT INSTALL THE VAPOR BARRIER. THIS DELAY AND OVERSIGHT JEOPARDIZED THE CLOSING SALE OF OUR TOWNHOME. AUSTIN CLAIMS THAT TOTAL CLEANING DID NOT HAVE THE VAPOR BARRIER ON THE INVOICE. TOTAL CLEANING CLAIMS THEY DID. ALTHOUGH IT IS UNCLEAR IF AUSTIN INSULATING WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE VAPOR BARRIER OVERSIGHT, THEY DID CAUSE THE SITUATION BY DELAYING THEIR SCHEDULED WORK WHEN IT WAS CRITICAL PATH FOR THE HOME CLOSING. ONCE THE SITUATION WAS DISCOVERED THEY DID NOT PROVIDE ANY OPTIONS TO HELP RESOLVE THE SITUATION PRIOR TO THE CLOSING DATE.
Description of Work: HIRED TO REPLACE INSULATION AND INSTALL A VAPOR BARRIER IN THE CRAWLSPACE OF A TOWNHOUSE.

+ -1 moreI WAS HAPPY WITH THE WORK, INITIALLY, BUT AFTER THE BIG WINTER SNOW STORM IN FEBRUARY, ONE OF THE GUTTERS COMPLETELY PULLED AWAY FROM THE HOUSE ON ONE SIDE AND WAS FLATTENED. I SPOKE WITH MR. AUSTIN ABOUT THE PROBLEM, AND HE CLAIMED IT WAS WEATHER DAMAGE, NOT DUE TO HIS COMPANY'S INSTALLATION. HE SAID HE WOULD REPAIR IT FOR $500. I DIDN'T FEEL THAT WAS VERY FAIR. I SPOKE WITH ANOTHER CONTRACTOR WHO GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE, BUT HE WAS VERY HONEST AND SAID I SHOULD GO BACK TO AUSTIN AND HAVE THEM FIX IT BECAUSE IT WAS AN INSTALLATION PROBLEM. MR. AUSTIN WANTED THE CONTRACTOR'S NAME SO HE COULD MEET WITH HIM, BUT THE CONTRACTOR DID NOT WANT TO BE DIRECTLY INVOLVED IN THE ISSUE. I FEEL THAT MR. AUSTIN SHOULD REPAIR THE PROBLEM AT NO EXTRA FEE. THIS HOUSE AND ITS GUTTERS HAVE WITHSTOOD LOTS OF SNOW STORMS IN THE PAST 20 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM, BUT THEN I HAD BRAND NEW ONES INSTALLED AND WITHIN SIX MONTHS, THEY WERE LAYING ON THE SIDE OF MY HOUSE.
Description of Work: HIRED THEM TO REPLACE 4 COPPER GUTTERS AND 2 DOWNSPOUTS.
