They were great to work with (and patient with!) my request for a custom stone bench. Even though this was a small job for them, they obviously put a lot of work into it. I love it, it is beautiful in my garden. Will definitely work with this company again - next time counter tops!

The gentleman was professional and punctual and he did a good job. I would definitely call him again.
Description of Work: the company ( Instyle) that installed the kitchen sink initially did not install sink properly. it was falling through the marble counter. Marble and Stone shop reinstalled it and reinforced it. The technician even took the time to help me with the kitchen soap dispenser. Again, the other company made the hole in the granite too big for the dispenser

This went one for FOUR MONTHS and not once did they take responsibility for something they obviously did NOR did they even offer to discount the price. It was extremely unprofessional and I feel like we were taken advantage of. I might also point out that this was a $30k-renovation, down to the studs, and none of the vendors that we used treated us this poorly. We eventually decided to pay the balance because this ordeal had lasted far longer than we anticipated and we were ready to be done with it.
Description of Work: We were referred to this company by the company we used to lay our floor and install our backsplash when we renovated our kitchen this spring/summer. They discovered a crack in the first slab of granite that we picked out when they were cutting it. The second slab was delayed for at least 2 weeks for various reasons, one being that it was stuck in port in Charleston. Because of this delay, it had to be installed while we were 2 days into our annual family vacation. Luckily, my mother was able to be at the house when it was installed but she stayed well away from the kitchen. Upon our return, there were BIG problems. The first was that the granite on our peninsula was only supported by shims! It hadn't been sealed or leveled - there was a solid 1/2 inch separating it from the cabinets. We immediately called our contractor, whom had not been contacted that the work was even "finished." (This also set him back at least 4 days.) The granite installers claimed that they told my mother to have our contractor call them to finish. (She denies this was requested.) The second problem was also in the peninsula. They had cut out a place for our slide-in range when they installed it and there were 2 rust stains that were perfectly perpendicular - such as someone laying a metal "L" square right on the granite with a perfect 90-degree angle - coming off the top and right sides of the range. One was about 6 inches; the other about 12. In emails (with pictures!) and phone calls about this issue, we got tons of push-back that it was "natural" and none of their tools could have caused a rust stain. The man that sold us the granite came out to put some kind of poultice on it to lighten it THREE TIMES. When this didn't work, he sent another "stone expert" who also put another poultice on it, another three times, and said that if it didn't work, then it was natural. It lightened, which we don't understand if it's "natural," but we can still see it. This went on for months and we finally paid the balance 4 months later because we were ready to be completely done with our kitchen even though we thought their treatment of us was extremely unprofessional.

I did not use as they were not interested in my business
Description of Work: I went to the shop looking for information as we were redoing the kitchen. The salesperson was rude informing me that my kitchen was a job that was too small for them to consider. We spent over 10K doing the kitchen so ..........we obviously did not use them but if 10K is too small of a job I guess they are not doing much work now.

Response from The Marble & Stone Shop Inc
Angie’s List - Response to Member The Marble and Stone Shop regrets this member’s experience. It is very difficult however to recount the situation as it is being reported 4 ½ years after the fact. I do hope a mistake has not occurred in this report, as there is another business in Charlotte with a very similar name. We strive to please new customers as well as help our clients of 30 years feel welcome and well served. Our sales staff has decades of experience to accomplish our goal of providing excellent customer service. While I do not know the specific situation 4 ½ years ago that prompted Member to now file a report, Marble and Stone was very busy at that time and clients were occasionally upset when told we could not do their job for weeks due to our workload. Always Marble and Stone feels that honesty is a better policy than false promises. We do and have in the past fabricated smaller jobs, even selling remnants for as little as $250.00. As President of Marble and Stone, I am sorry and unsettled when anyone views their experience with our business negatively. It is very much my hope you as a client or prospect will come to me personally with any unsatisfactory experience at the time it occurs. I hope in the future Marble and Stone can have the opportunity to do work for you, Member, so you can see why Angie’s List members consistently grade us favorably. Bill Standish, Jr. /kw

I spent some time looking at the granite. They have a nice selection to choose from and said they could order anything I liked from the samples if they didn't have it on hand. They had want I wanted in stock. The measurer was great. He had the template ready within an hour of arriving at my home. They had it cut in just a few days then called to schedule the install date. The 2 installers arrived on time, got to work and cleaned the area before leaving.
Description of Work: They removed old countertops and installed granite countertops and sink (not plumbing hook-up). They arrived on time. The installers were professional, quick and quiet. The were out the door in 3 hours. The job looked great and they gave excellant care instructions about the granite.

The tub and vanity top came in within 2-3 weeks from their Virginia marble supplier, however the tub had very little marbling. In fact, it looked like a plain color tub that we could have gotten from a large home improvement store at a fraction of the price. When we called Bill Standish and he did not even hesitate to come out to inspect the product. He agreed that it didn't have much marbling and offered to have their supplier re-do the tub. Unfortunately, their supplier couldn't guarantee another tub would be any better since the tubs are poured upside down and the marbling tends to run off. Whatever the case, The Marble Shop stood behind the quality and refunded us completely. Though were sorry to see that we couldn't replace our existing cultured marble tub and vanity with them, they were certainly extremely professional and we were very pleased that we didn't have to fight to get our money back.
Description of Work: We replaced a cracked cultured marble tub and vanity top with another cultured marble tub with 8 jets and a matching vanity top.

The work was excellent. Both the removal and the installation was fast and clean. The did a beautiful job with the placement of the seam. The negatives: the planning stage was a little slow, and when we needed a contractor to help with a surprise that came up, they were unable to help us find someone to help. But other than that, everything went better than we expected.

WE'VE HAD AN EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE WITH THEM. IT TOOK US ABOUT 4 MONTHS TO COME TO A FINAL DECISION ABOUT WHAT TYPE OF STONE TO HAVE INSTALLED. MARTHA WAS WITH US EACH STEP OF THE WAY. I WAS ABLE TO PERFORM THE TEAROUT OF THE OLD COUNTERTOP AND FIXTURES TO SAVE SOME MONEY ON THE JOB. THE WORK WAS DONE ON TIME AND PER OUR SPECIFICATIONS WITH NO PROBLEMS. A TRUE TURN-KEY JOB. WITH THIS AND A FEW OTHER MINOR IMPROVEMENTS, WE HAVE A FULL KITCHEN REMODEL.
Description of Work: INSTALLED GRANITE COUNTERTOPS, ISLAND COUNTERTOP. REPLACED EXISTING SINK WITH ONE WE PURCHASED. WORKED WITH ME CLOSELY TO COORDINATE INSTALLATION AND WHEN I COULD PERFORM THE REMOVAL OF THE OLD COUNTERTOPS AND FIXTURES.

BILL & TAMMY COULD NOT HAVE BEEN NICER TO WORK WITH, AND WERE VERY HELPFUL. BILL EVEN SUGGESTED THAT IF WE FOUND A LARGER SLAB OF OUR CHOSEN GRANITE THAT HE COULD COMPLETE THE WHOLE KITCHEN IN ONE SLAB, AND SAVED US ALMOST $2000! WE WOULD DEFINITELY USE THEM AGAIN, AND IN FACT DID WHEN WE REMODELED OUR MASTER BATHROOM. THEY WERE TERRIFIC!
Description of Work: FULL KITCHEN INSTALLATION OF GRANITE IN A KITCHEN REMODEL. THEY CAME & MEASURED AND 2 WEEKS LATER, JUST AS PROMISED, INSTALLED THE GRANITE BEAUTIFULLY.

THEY DID A BEAUTIFUL JOB WITH THE ONE SEAM, MATCHING THE GRAIN OF THE STONE. I REQUESTED A DIFFERENT CUT OUT FOR MY SINK, AND TAMMY RIDDLE WORKED WITH ME TO MAKE SURE THEY KNEW EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED BEFORE MAKING THE CUT. LAWRENCE AND RODDICK ARRIVED ON TIME, AND CLEANED UP AFTER THE JOB WAS FINISHED.

COUNTERTOPS LOOK WONDERFUL. HAD A PROBLEM WITH THEM BECAUSE THEY CUT OUT A HOLE THE WRONG WAY IN MY NEW KITCHEN SINK. THEY GOT ME A NEW SINK WITH THE CORRECTION AND THEN THEY HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE PLUMBING. MARTHA WAS GREAT WITH WORKING WITH ME AND MAKING THINGS BETTER. THE INSTALLER WAS NOT RELIABLE AND MISSED A COUPLE OF THINGS. THEY ENDED UP PAYING FOR THE EXTRA PLUMBING PROBLEMS AND MY SINK.

HAVING TAMMY RIDDLE AS A GO-TO PERSON WAS HELPFUL DURING INSTALLATION. SHE WAS QUITE EFFECTIVE IN GETTING THINGS DONE. WE PURCHASED A REMNANT PIECE WHICH WAS HALF THE PRICE OF OUR OTHER ESTIMATES. THE AMOUNT OF GOLD IN THIS PARTICULAR PIECE OF UBATUBA IS NOT ONLY BEAUTIFUL, BUT ALSO UNIQUE.

THE COMPANY REALLY IMPRESSED US. THEY INVITED US TO EXAMINE THE RAW PIECE OF GRANITE PRIOR TO MAKING A TEMPLATE FOR THE COUNTERTOPS. THE INSTALLATION WAS ON TIME AND VERY WELL DONE. EXCELLENT ATTENTION TO DETAIL AND FINE CRAFTSMANSHIP. WHEN I CALLED ABOUT A SMALL SPOT IN THE GRANITE THEY CALLED A COMPANY TO PULL OUT THE STAIN AND SENT THEM OUT AS A COURTESY. VERY IMPRESSIVE COMPANY. THEY HAVE BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR YEARS.
