We also provide 24 hour emergency service if you have a problem in the middle of the night. 704-424-9959 We stand behind our work and all repairs are guaranteed for a full 2 years (refrigerant and condensate leaks not included). My air conditioning unit was running very loud and I called MJ to have it checked out, I was getting cool air as usual, but the rep I spoke to when I was making the appointment advised to shut the unit off. I did that, when the tech came within the time frame set for the appointment the following day he checked the unit out and did not find anything wrong at the time with the unit except he said a few screws were loose that could possibly be causing it to tremble when running. He offered me the tune-up service plan with two checks annually for air and heating. I did purchase the plan to try it out.
Description of Work: MJ tech came within time frame of appointment and checked my air conditioning unit for loud noise when it was running. On that day and time he could not find any noises.

This company has been in business for over 50 years and they are excellent. They are very professional and their customer service is very good. They do a good job of cleaning up after themselves. I got a $350 discount on the unit because they had a sale.

I was out of town when the AC condenser fan motor failed. I opted to call the MJ since I thought that they would be reliable but probably high priced. It needed to be fixed since I had family sweltering in the heat. I agreed to an $808 charge to replace the motor. This was down from $950 due to the use of a universal motor rather than the supposed original equipment motor. To put this in perspective, I had already ordered a motor on the WEB for $78 since the motor had been acting up a few days earlier. Unfortunately the original motor failed before I received the one from the WEB. After replacing the motor, MJ announced that the fan blade was bad and should be replaced for an additional $400. I opted to forgo this until I inspected it myself. When I returned home, I inspected the condenser fan and noted that it was vibrating pretty bad. Several items on the unit had not been assembled properly and the motor shaft had been cut down by sawing it half way through and breaking it off the rest of the way. This may have bent the motor shaft. I went ahead and bought a new fan blade from WW Grainger's for $37.50. When I tried to remove the fan blade the set screw broke off. Was it over tightened? Did MJ bend the fan blade? At this point I called them to try to get some satisfaction. They sent out the original tech and his supervisor. The supervisor was quite nice and seemed more knowledgeable than the original tech. He agreed to replace the motor and helped me install my new fan blade. I believe that he understood that less than a quality job had been done. They would not refund any money. The condenser fan is now running smooth. I had not checked Angie's list. If I had, I would have passed on these guy's. Parts seem to be 10X what one can buy them for if you are capable of DIY. All I can say is shop around. This experience would not have been all that bad at 1/4 the price.
Description of Work: They replaced the condenser blower motor on my air conditioner. I got "cool air, in my house that night".

I had a leaking A/C coil and asked Morris Jenkins to come out and provide an estimate for a replacement unit. Their sales rep was friendly and provided a great deal of information (sometimes too much) that allowed us to agree on the right unit for my property. I decided to do business with them based on the information that they provided and their company's reputation. Unfortunately, they did little to distinguish themselves on this occasion. They sent three separate crews to complete the installation (which we were told ahead of time that they would do). But, they were not able to complete the installation in one day and my wife and I needed to re-arrange our work schedules a second day before the unit was finally turned on. The actual installation work seemed to be of good quality, but their installation crew left a light turned on in my crawl space, which could easily have been left turned on for months had I not decided to go down there to check their work. I rarely go down in my crawl space. Overall, their timeliness on the completion of the job was poor and they could have done a better job of keeping us informed if they were running late. Unfortunately, this was not a good start to what I had hoped would be a long-term working relationship.
Description of Work: Had an air conditioner coil and compressor replaced. They also installed new specialized furnace filters.

WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE LACK OF COMMUNICATION AND TIMELINESS THE MEMBER EXPERIENCED DURING THEIR EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION. WE RECENTLY REDUCED THE NUMBER OF CREWS FROM THREE TO ONLY THE INSTALLATION CREW AND THE ELECTRICIAN TO PROVIDE BETTER VALUE FOR OUR CUSTOMERS. AGAIN, WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE AND APPRECIATE THE OPPORTUNITY TO ADDRESS THE CUSTOMER'S CONCERN. CORDIALLY, ALLI TODD SUPPORT SERVICES MANAGER

My feeling is if a company is this bad at trying to GET NEW BUSINESS how terrible must they be at servicing existing business??
Description of Work: My second story heat pump just died. It was a 2 ton Bryant that last 5 years and is no longer under warranty. So, I contacted Morris Jenkins since they are the largest HVAC company in CLT. I thought that they would have the best customer service and best pricing due to their size. Boy was I wrong. I called 3 different times within one day trying to schedule an appointment for a sales consultation and they never called back. In fact they still haven t called back. Disappointed, I called the owner Mr. Jenkins and I had to sit on hold for 10 minutes waiting for his voice mail, and then was told I had to go through their proper channels and I couldn t leave a message for him directly. Are you serious? I will never use this company again if this represents their customer service.

The guy who did the replacement was careless with his work, and I ended up with water leakage. I think they probably should have had two people do the work instead of one. They were happy to come and fix the problem when I called them back. They did get the job done, and they seemed to know what they were doing. They didn't try to put any additional services or costs on our shoulders.

Morris Jenkins came out to see what was wrong with my AC. It wasn't blowing cold air. After examining the unit in the attic and the outside unit the technician said that there was a leak in the coil. And that replacing the coil would be a second choice option but that I should have the entire AC system replaced with one that doesn't use R-22. Ok. So where is the leak exactly? In the coil? Can you show me? We went into the attic and he showed me the outside of the unit that houses the coil. He said it would take some time to open the unit up to show me the leak. At that point I said that wouldn't be necessary as I was trying to figure out exactly how I was going to pay to have a new AC installed. At that point I declined to top off the Freon, why waste it if there really was a leak in the system. After the technician left I went back into the attic to check the coil and see if I could see anything. Upon looking at the unit I could tell that the technician never even opened the thing up. He implied that he had earlier. I could determine that was the case because had he opened up the unit he would have had to remove a few screws that had silicon over their heads. The silicon and the screws were still intact. Today I had another technician from a different company take a look at the AC. He determined that coil wasn't the source of the leak. He did find a leak at the valves on the outside unit. A relatively inexpensive repair compared to the $5500 the Morris Jenkins employee quoted me to have the AC replaced. So buyer beware, and get a second opinion. especially when they want you to replace the entire AC.
Description of Work: Checked out AC units. Paid only for the service call.

He did not ask if I had a warranty. When he drilled a hole into my a/c unit to install the Blue Tube, he materially altered the unit. Therefore, the company that installed the unit cannot honor my extended warranty for labor. If he had asked about warranty, and I had been given a chance to research this aspect, I would have two years of warranty to claim. Thank goodness this did not happen at the beginning of my extended warranty agreement. If you have a repair, the A/C company will ask about warranties. If you have maintenance and they sell you something that will alter your unit, it is YOUR responsibility to inquire about warranty considerations. I would not recommend Morris Jenkins because they do not do a very good job of training and also they will not take responsibility when they have made a mistake. I should be reimbursed for the $99 visit by the A/C provider who installed the HAVOC system and charged me, because the work Morris Jenkins did nullity and voided the visit by another company. I have spoken with Debbie Bonnie(SP?) and advised her that they need to add into the procedure for the maintenance crew procedures similar to the repair crew. If this happens, the customer's extended warranty for labor will not become NULL.
Description of Work: I signed into a $199 agreement for heating and a/c maintenance. In Oct, heating service was performed. In addition to the maintenance, I bought a contactor for $251. In May 2008, Spring/Summer maintenance was performed. I bought another capacitor ($123) on the unit downstairs, as well as a contactor ($292), for total $415. The representative sold me on the Blue Tube. The Blue Tube emits energy thru light that kills bacteria. With three dogs and two cats that are in and out of this house, I believed this would be a great solution to the air quality in my home. In order to install the Blue Tube, the representative had to drill a hole into my a/c unit.

They arrived on time and performed the service in a very professional manner during both of their visits. After servicing the unit they approached me with a list of "recommended repairs". Both times (one heat and one A/C) these totaled over $1000. After discussing these "repairs" I realized that nothing was broken and in need of fixing. Instead they were suggesting very expensive upgrades. For example, they suggested I use a different type of filter, one that did not fit in my current unit. To use the new filter I would have needed an $800+ modification to my heat. They suggested this even though there was nothing wrong with the old filters (they just needed to be changed more frequently than the one they wanted me to use.)

I will be replacing my old heating and cooling units in the near future and I can say I am glad to have seen this type of service before I paid them several thousand dollars.
Description of Work: Called for after hours service on an air conditioning system that was not working.
