As a first time homeowner, there are a lot of unknowns when it comes to the maintenance of your house, especially when it comes to picking the right company to provide those services. Morris-Jenkins has been very helpful in understanding the necessary maintenance to the AC. The tech I had was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions and his friendly attitude was a plus. You feel a lot more comfortable when you feel you can TRUST the company who is doing your service, and I definitely feel I can trust Morris-Jenkins.

Overall, from start to finish, sales to installment went excellently. Again we have worked with their services for 5 -6 years and have always been very pleased. I don't ever feel like I need to question if they are lieing about something we need done, nor have I ever felt disrespected. If I ever have any doubt or even a bit of question if someone has lied to me about services I am pretty quick to turn away from them. I have always felt this is a reputable company and they expect very much from those who work them them as far as standards of knowledge and conduct. When the people come to work they cover their shoes to keep my home clean, they leave the work place clean and an evaluation paper is always left for me to fill out. People are always nice on the phone and everything is handled very professionally and with kindness. I have never been talked down to but as an equal regardless of how much I understand or not. I have the utmost respect for this company.
Description of Work: Seller came out and offered us a good price to replace our furnace and air conditioner. We have used their services in the past. They come out and work with us and see what will work best for our family. Bernard is who we have seen each time. He is very gracious in his salesmanship. The company installed the furnace and air conditioner in one day and did an excellent job.

My husband and I have had maintenance contracts with Morris-Jenkins since 2006. During our maintenance service in April, 2009, we unfortunately found that we were going to need a new, upstairs system or face costly repairs. Due to our experiences in calling the office staff and with the servicemen who had been in our home, it was only natural that we would consider Morris Jenkins in replacing our air conditioner and furnace. Our sales representative was exceptional and provided options without pressure. When we were ready to replace the system, the installers came to our home and performed their work meticulously. From start to finish, the whole process of replacing our air conditioner and furnace was painless and everyone who has come to our home has respected us, our home, and our dogs! Recently (May 4, 2011), we had a problem with our downstairs air conditioner. We called at around 7:30 in the evening (someone in the office actually answered!) and less than an hour-and-a-half later, the serviceman arrived at our door. The problem was resolved and we had "cool air at our house" that night! When it's time to replace the downstairs air conditioner, we're definitely calling Morris Jenkins!

I’ve had Morris-Jenkins out to the house a couple of times now, and both times the service technician was outstanding. They took the time to educate me, as a new home owner, how the equipment works and the best course for routine maintenance. In addition, they were always upfront about cost and demonstrated that they were willing to provide options for best value.

I would use them again to purchase and install and will call them in about a year to do our second unit. I am not sure about service yet since we have not actually relied on them for this aspect.
Description of Work: We purchased a new heating and a/c unit from them in March. The salesman was professional and knowledgeable about the product. The installers were fast and cleaned up when they left. The followup was very good. I think they are a bit high in price, but I also know that they supplied us a very good unit. The total experience was a very good one. From the call to the installation and a working system only took 4 days. (We had another heat source during that time).

I had three groups come and look at the furnace. I chose them because they were one of the two groups that correctly diagnosed the problem that my old furnace was in fact dead. They come in and do installations at no extra cost on Saturdays, which was a big plus for me. My complaint against them is that the furnace failed twice within the first three months after installation. They were prompt for the first service call to fix it, but they did not correct the problem. It failed again three weeks later during one of the coldest nights of the year. I figured out at 9 O' clock in the night that the furnace had failed and they told me that lots of people have furnaces failing and I would have to wait till 2 O' clock in the morning to get it fixed. I was adamant that they send someone out at 8 O' clock in the morning and they did that have much dithering. They found out that an electrical connection was not firm enough. I was very annoyed that they did catch the problem the first time. I felt that they should have given me higher priority considering that it was one of their products and they had just installed it and not done it correctly. The worst part was that nobody from the company ever called up and apologized, which could have gone a long way in making me a happier customer. The fact that it took two visits to diagnose a problem on a brand new furnace is of concern and reflects on the care that they take. There were no charges for the visits but I was inconvenienced. The people who came to the house were fine and they came on time. They were not overly pushy. It was their customer service and the work of the technicians who came out to fix the problem that was poor.

He was right on time and very courteous. He even put on booties before entering my home. My AC was working but not keeping the house cold enough. He tracked the problem to an electrical breaker that only cost us $13. He changed all the filters and cleaned everything well.

Our 20 year old heat pump was making lots of noise, not cooling properly and our electric bill was higher than it should be. I had called two other heating/AC companies who never showed up for the appointments. I hesitated to call Morris Jenkins because I had heard they were expensive, but I thought I'd at least see what they had to say. The repairman came out and cleaned the coils and told me the unit was on its last legs. He charged it with freon, and said that the cost would be applied to a new unit if I decided to get one. I scheduled a salesman for the next day. He went over the basics of heat pumps, prices, guarantees, etc. Luckily I have a brother in law (out of state) in the same business who had told me the basics so I wouldn't get ripped off. The price MJ quoted was somewhat higher than I expected, but with hot weather coming we needed the new unit installed. They have a good guarantee with their units, in case I need any service. The installation team came out the next day and finished it all within 10 hours. They installed the heat pump outside, a heat exchanger in our attic, and enlarged the intake vent in the upstairs ceiling, and showed me how to program the thermostat. Reading some of the other reviews I'm not sure we needed the larger vent, but we are happy with the way the unit is cooling. Every one of the men who came out - from repairman, to salesman, to installation team and electrician - were polite, friendly, cleaned up any mess, explained everything fully, and did it all on time. The price of the unit was quite a bit more than I had expected to pay, but we are happy with the overall experience and will use them again when our other heat pump needs service or replacing. Edited January 2012: The new heat pump is working really well, and our electric bills dropped $30 a month once we had it installed. I'm editing this review to let you know that our other heat pump died in early Dec 2012. I called Morris Jenkins again, even though there are certainly places with lower prices out there. The reason I called is because with them, you don't have to wonder if your repairman or installation team will actually show up. They once again did a great job installing the second heat pump, and we've been very happy (and warm) since they came out. I love knowing that they have a great warranty with their products, and a 24/7 team of repairmen in case we need one. This time they were offering a free ipad with purchase of a new heat pump, so I also got a "free" Christmas gift out of the deal. Thank you Morris Jenkins!

I spent $522 on that service and I thought that it was outrageous. They got here as soon as I made the call they headed out that way, but the price that they charged was just way over a normal company would have charged, so we paid a premium for the work that was done.

They have been really nice. They are prompt and they work almost 24 hours. My air conditioning stopped working and I called them. They came that afternoon or that evening instead of a week later. They are very pleasant, knowledgeable and easy to work with. They are very reliable.

They came out on a Sunday evening and didn't charge me any extra rates for the weekend service. Brian was the technician that came out to repair the heating system. He was exactly on time, very professional and did a phenomenal job. He was very honest about what needed to be repaired and what it would cost. I would highly recommend them.

I called the company because a tenant's AC was not working. I spoke with a representative and I asked her what they charged for a service call. She quoted me a price and then we continued to speak. After a few minutes I was about to hang up and she then quickly interjected that they were running a special that week and the service call was half the price she originally quoted me. Why didn't she tell me that information when I first asked her what the price was going to be? A few days later I called back and tried to schedule a technician to do the job. When they learned that I was the landlord they refused to do the work unless I gave them my credit card number. I said I was able to meet the technician there and I would give him a check as soon as he finished the work. Still they said no. So I hired someone else. If you examine the Histogram you will see that they do not compare well with other higher rated companies. This company also spends a lot of money on radio advertising, I suspect they need a high customer turnover to stay in business. My instincts tell me that this company is trouble. Stay away!

They ask if you are willing to pay their $89 fee for coming out. I knew what the problem was so there was no diagnosis and the gentleman then looks at their menu for how much he should charge instead of an hourly price. So 15 minutes later I owed the menu price of an additional $71.

The air conditioner was fine, but two years latter our heater went out. This time we were smart and got bids from three other companies. Of course Morris Jenkins was the highest by a couple of thousand dollars. When their sales rep saw a bid from a competitor on our table. He told us that if we got the heater from another company, they would void the current warranty on the two year old air conditioner that I purchased from them. I was very upset. The end result was that I purchased the heating system from another company. It was much better high efficiency system at over $2500 less than Morris Jenkins.
Description of Work: The central air conditioner needed replace, Morris Jenkins had recently bought the the company that serviced our air conditioner for the last 15 years. Of Course the system went down on the hottest day of the summer and Morris Jenkins told us they had a top of the line unit on hand and could get it installed in two days which they did. We were in a hurry and did not get any other bids. They installed it in just fine, but latter after discussing the cost to others we found we had substantially overpaid for that system. We could of got the same system in for around $3.000 Less!.

went well very professional the tech found a capacitor in the ac that was weak...and replaced it??? im an elecrric tech and capacitors dont get weak .. they just fail .. this was a bogus repair at a very high price..NEVER AGAIN!!

On Thursday morning (Nov.12) I noticed heat pump running but no heat. I turned the system off hoping it might reset overnight. Turned system back on Fri morn but no heat. Even tried the 'heat strip' setting, no heat. Called Morris-Jenkins (they did the install, new ac/heat pump & heat strips 5yrs prior) about 6:30am. Rep made appt for later that morning and informed me that warranty had expired Mar.'09. I explained that the system had service calls relating to moisture and shorting the circuit board and breaker. Asked if this was an installation issue since the circuit board had problems? She did not know but advised leave the unit running so tech could read "error codes". The tech arrived around 10:30am and we reviewed events. He went outside and came back with a distorted capacitor in hand. Advised he would have to replace before he could go any further and the cost of capacitor was $274. I was shocked but told him to go ahead. He came came back shortly and said the relays for the heat strips were dead and that were $246 each. I explained that sounded like a lot so while he was outside I looked online to see what they go for. Advised I found capacitors from $33-87. He replied that he did not know what formula the boss used to set a price. I advised the whole thing sounds like price gouging and that I didn't appreciate that. $274+246+246+69(service call)=$835. Are you people nuts? He apologized but reiterated that he did not set the prices. He said he has friends in the business w/other companies and that the prices are competitive. I advised that you are looking at a guy who will take the time to find out if I'm being ripped off and that I would contact the BBB, the Chamber of Commerce and the Attorney General's office if necessary. He said he would call the office. He also said to make sure to fill out cust/satisfaction survey w/comments. He came back and said the boss wants me to be happy so "cut it in half". I said "whatever, it still seems like alot". He said he would have to go but could come back tomorrow and install relays.I wrote him a check for $206 ($274/2=137+69=$206). I called back later and canceled the next appt. I sent in the cust/satisfaction survey w/a letter. I received a response that seemed like form letter stating what I am paying for is the company, the operators, the trained techs and fleet of trucks. So I called the BBB, no help.The Chamber, no help. So I sent all this and more in a letter to Attorney General's office, again no help. The point is, I realize that a company has to make a profit but something is wrong here. In my letter to MJ I advised that they replaced a 20+yr old GMC that was leaking freon but never had any heat problems. And that they may dismiss my problems as a result of moisture in the crawl space but that wasn't a problem with the old GMC and that maybe their rep/Alan who sold me the new system should have addressed moisture as a problem rather than focusing selling his company and shooting down the competition. I also had to ask how many of their customers are people on fixed incomes and seniors that can't afford to be gouged or go without heat & air. Advised that their exploitative pricing may be forcing people to choose between the service or food & medicine.

I am sorry this customer was unsatisfied with their experience and curious as to why they waited over a year to post this report and never contacted us first. Our pricing is competitive and set to a level that allows us to provide the service our customer's deserve. The internet may sell the parts but it cannot drive to your home, diagnose the problem, preform the repair, provide 24 hour service and a 2 year guarantee. Morris-Jenkins has certainly not stayed in business for over 50 years and won multiple awards for customer service by over-charging people.

My wife was told they had shut off gas supply because the internal valve was defective and needed to be replaced, and approximate cost would be $700. They recommended it be replaced with a new package unit. Left without a solution, and still NO HEAT IN OUR HOUSE that night. We had another company come out to check and give us an estimate. When they checked out same valve it working properly. Within less than 2 minutes they had cycled the valve 3 to 4 times, and cycled the valve using the thermostat to find it working in each instance. They also said because of unit age and design, most of the parts could be replaced in front of unit for less than original $700 for the gas valve. Their finding was most likely a temperature override that shut off the unit when it ran enough to shut down. Also showed us a way to reset the unit so that WE HAD HEAT IN OUR HOUSE THAT NIGHT.
Description of Work: Tech showed up with trainee and was instructed the unit had stopped heating overnight. After less than 30 minutes they told my wife they had shut off gas supply because the internal valve was defective and needed to be replaced.at a cost of close to $700.00 Left without a solution, and still no heat, other than recommending total unit with a new package unit.

From the appointment scheduler, sales representative and installation crew, the team at Morris Jenkins was courteous and professional. I would highly recommend Morris Jenkins to anyone who has a heating or air conditioning need and wants to be treated with care. Technicians arrive on time, provide detailed information about service issues, provides actual cost of repairs and performs the service with 100% accuracy. I was very pleased with the pricing of the heating unit purchased - and getting the $1500.00 rebate paperwork without a hassle was wonderful.

Sales professional showed up at our house on time. The whole time he was at our house, he continuously put down the other 2 companies we had proposals from for new units. He put down Trane ac units which was what all 3 other ac companies recommended. He put down work of other contractor that did our neighbor's unit (who was recommended by 3 neighbors) ... even walking into their yard to examine and point out bad things about the work completed there. He constantly put down other contractors and told us how big and great morris jenkins was. They quoted us about $10,000 for an ac unit which was quite high in comparison to our other 3 quotes from 1 small; 1 med. size; 1 large ac company. When I called Trane company to inquire why morris jenkins would say such horrible things about their ac unit; they told me that morris jenkins does this frequently in addition to bad mouthing other contractors; and that Trane does NOT allow morris jenkins to sell their Trane ac units Also, when requesting a proposal or something in writing to back up the units they recommended ... I was told that no paperwork could be provided. I also was told that if I wanted a Trane ac unit, I could go somewhere else ... to another ac company b/c they would not get me a Trane unit, and that morris jenkins ... being so big and great as they are would not be sad at all if they didn't have our business. They quoted us $10,000 for a new gas pac ac/heating unit, which 3 other contractors quoted us between $5,600-$6,300. Needless to say, we will be going elsewhere to get our new gas pack ac/heating unit; and we will NEVER deal with morris jenkins again. All they did was us a big scare tactic to criticize every other contractor and brag about how big and great they were; and also criticize the trane ac unit that 3 other contractors highly recommended for us ... hmmmm ... not really a surprise since Trane corporate office told me morris jenkins is forbidden by Trane company to sell Trane units. I felt morris jenkins was very dishonest and did not appreciate the sales scare tactic that they tried to use. We will be going elsewhere with our business.
Description of Work: service call b/c ac stopped working. technician said freon was completely empty because of leaks and that heating exchange was cracked which was causing small amounts of carbon monoxide to leak into our home. Therefore, he shut off heating/ac gas pack system so we could not longer use it. Technician was professional and very polite; however, sales tactic presented to sales person on behalf of morris jenkins was horrible

I am sorry this customer was left with such an unfavorable impression. This is certainly not typical for Morris-Jenkins and I wish the customer had contacted us with their concerns. Also, we are by no means "forbidden" to sell Trane systems. Morris-Jenkins has a reputation for honesty and quality that was not gained by bashing competitors or resorting to scare tactics.

They have done excellent work. We have had one repair call and they were very prompt. I have a maintenance agreement with them and their charges are on a monthly basis. My overall experience has been very good. They have a little survey that they leave every time they come and I have always given the person very good rating.
Description of Work: Morris Jenkins installed a heat pump for me 2 years ago.
