I didn’t spend anything because I’m under warranty right now. They are very good. I use them because their service is good and they have a good product. They had installed the equipment for me about 18 months ago. Their price is very competitive. The quality of service is very good. Their responsiveness, punctuality and professional are excellent. I would continue to use them in the future.

Horne stated they have several clients that they service their pool heaters on. Jack came out on a Wednesday, replaced the transformer and told me we need a new circuit board and possible a new ignition box(because he was getting voltage to the circuit board but not out of the circuit board to the ignition box. He stated we would be contacted with the prices, and that the ignition box they could return if not needed. He had unplugged the wire from the circuit board to the ignition box and then plugged back in. As he was leaving, I asked him since he was getting voltage to the circuit board, would the power light not come on? He stated no, then said maybe.... (I wish I would have tried it that afternoon...) No phone call on Thursday with a part quote. I called Friday and Jeff stated Jack would be in the office Monday - I questioned again since that was Memorial Day - he assured me. No phone call on Monday - I thought that was OK since I knew it was Memorial Day, then I did not receive a phone call Tuesday either. I called Wednesday and they quoted me a price of $942 in addition to the $227 that I had already spent! This is almost as much as I paid for the heater initially! In the interim of all this, I had researched the prices online for the 2 parts (from reputable sites) - the total I came up with was $350 for both circuit board and ignition box. I know there is a mark up for installation, but , really, almost TRIPLE the prices I had found ? I informed them their services were not needed. I decided to try the power switch ....as I mentioned to the technician when he was out, lo and behold the heater fired up with no problem! Bottom line, steer clear of this company - very poor customer service and in my experience, inept technical work by not even trying the power switch after he installed the transformer *** UPDATE NOTE: I did receive a call from Horne regarding my comments here. I am very glad to see that they do pay attention to what members comment on with Angie's List. I was appreciative of their contacting me in regards to the report I posted and they completely accepted responsibilty for this. We were able to come to agreement regarding this service call.

I've been having issues getting my air conditioning unit fixed. I purchased a new unit on May 20th, 2010. Just recently, I realized that there was a leak in this system where the unit is running out of cool air. They came out about 8 times since the install (8 different technicians) to patch the leak up with frion, which I don't believe they really patched, and it should've been fixed to begin-with. The last technician told me that basically we had a leak in our attic and they would have to locate ithe leak, patch it, and now it would be an extra $1500-$1700 on top of the $5900 that I?ve already spent on this unit. I?ve called Train (the manufacturs that made my unit), and they told me that they should've replace my line to begin-with, especially with a new unit. My air is running hot again. Addendum: 10/19/11: We were able to get the issue. They fixed the issue promptly and they would be a good company to work with.

Thanks for your report on Angie's List. Horne Heating is concerned the entire history is not being disclosed on the installation. It was advised at the time of our initial consultant visit in 2010 a new line set (the copper tubing that carries Freon to/from the indoor and outdoor units) should be included with the new system. This was itemized on the proposal but was declined by the customer. After installation there were repeated service trips and follow-ups made at no cost to assess the system cooling issues, and consistent recommendations made indicating the line set needed to be replaced. The customer finally agreed to replace the line set (completed June 2011), and there have been no problems since. Horne Heating and Air Conditioning even financed the new line set for 12 months with no interest to the customer. We trust the system continues to work well and our team has resolved any potential cooling issues as a result of this line set. Jon first checked a couple of options that may have prevented us from having to replace the existing systems. Once we decided that a new system would be required, they were on-site on a day that was convenient for me. The techs installed the system in a few hours and made sure to leave the house and outside work area clean. One problem was noticed after a couple of days of operation, but they had a service tech out quickly to resolve the minor issue. The County Inspector passed the job with no problems noted.
Description of Work: Horne replaced our existing central air conditioning compressor and coil with a new system.

I live in a three story condo on the third floor. The units are on the roof and thus a crane had to be utilized during installation. Horne handled the entire process from start to finish in one day. I met with them, talked with them and then left them to do their work. I left an 85 degree home at 8 a.m. and came home to a cool home at 7 p.m. with an entirely new system installed. I highly recommend Horne both for the quality of the products they sell as well as the quality of people that they are.

I knew what the problem was and they were able to come out the next day. They had the part in stock. They did a fine job; it wasn't outstanding but they fixed it and it works. They did what I asked them to do. The price was fine; it wasn't great. It was a little expensive. They came when they said they would. I might use them again but I would shop around.

Jason arrived as scheduled. Immediately put clean booties on and asked to be shown system. He quickly inspected system and got thermostat working. Changed all of the air filters (they were filthy). He reviewed his work with me and explained how a service contract to cover future repairs would work.

The technician did not even have a calculator to figure the bill and he also ended up leaving one of my circuit breakers off. When I went upstairs the following day, that thermostat was not working ( a different one--I have three units at this house). It turns out that was because he forgot to turn the circuit breaker back on. I was told by phone that there would be a 90 fee for diagnostic, but I thought that was like a minimum trip charge which would be waived if you went over the minimum. I paid 90 additional dollars for a diagnostic at my rental house and another 90 for this house plus the 338 and I did not even get what I wanted.I find it hard to believe that having a programmable thermostat would cost me 600 or more. I feel that it is overpriced and poor service. I will not be using this company again. This is my first bad experience using an Angie's list provider.
Description of Work: I wanted a programmable thermostat and I was told that it would be over $500 then plus $90 diagnostic fee. So I just had a regular thermostat put in. He also seemed to have a hard time following the conversation. I told them over the phone that I wanted a programmable thermostat, but I never dreamed it would be over 500. I should have asked the price.

I was able to review the history and call records and determined that the diagnostic price was indeed confirmed for both locations on two separate occasions. We have signed invoice copies for both locations approving the diagnostic and repairs, and also honored the $30 Angie's List coupon. Our technicians use a flat-rate system to insure customers are charged the same price for all parts and repairs. Our programmable thermostat prices are fixed and include professional installation and a 5-year warranty. I am concerned that our technician may have left a circuit breaker off in your home however; I am uncertain if this reference in your report is to the actual replacement thermostat or another thermostat in your home. They are fabulous and very reputable. I spent $7000 for the unit. They are always on time and responsible. It is a family owned business and we always get the same technician because he knows the house. He cleans filter and extra things that are not on the warranty. They come when they say they will. I think they are the best and cost wise they are the same as other companies. They are very competitive.
Description of Work: I use Horne Heating & Air Conditioning for all my heating and air conditioning needs. The last time I used them was in November of last year to install a new unit in my town house.

About 5 years ago I had shopped around for a new heat pump. I received many estimates, but decided to wait until this one gave up before I purchased a replacement. December was unusually cold and with the tax credit soon expiring, I made the decision to go ahead with the replacement. Of the companies I had previously spoken to, Horne stood out as the best. I contacted them again, along with a few other companies I had not previously spoken to, to get new estimates and eventually made the decision to have them do my replacement. This is by far the best contractor decision I have ever made! When they arrived they covered the floors with a non-slip plastic for cleanliness and everyone's safety. My father had passed away 3 days prior to the install and they were very professional, courteous and respectful of my situation. They made sure to clean up everything before they left and taught me how to clean the filters in the integrated Clean Effects system. Needless to say the installation went in without a hitch and I am very happy with my new heat pump. Thank you Horne!!

Our heating unit was not working at all in the morning. The technician arrived the afternoon I made the appointment. It turned out the thermostat was broken. The technician removed the old thermostat, provided and installed a new thermostat. He was done in less than an hour. I was able to use the Angie's List coupon without any problem.

Description of Work: We had Horne replace an air conditioner, heater and water heater. We have used them before because of an Angie's list Recommendation. We have always had nothing but professional service and this time was no different. Jon can as soon as I called, explained the options and quoted a good price. They started work the same week and finished in two days. Cory supervised the work and was great to work with. We trust this company and they have come thru each time. The entire process went very well. We selected Horne Heating and Air Conditioning after soliciting quotes from a number of HVAC contractors. Jon Horne came out and put together a complete package describing issues with the current system, measurements, diagrams of our upstairs and then multiple upgrade options and costs. He spent a total of 2 hours discussing options - he was very detailed. His final package included this information plus credentials for the company, licensure disclosure, proof of insurance, etc. Its really refreshing to find a contractor present these credentials up front without being asked. Work started approximately a month later. The Horne Team was extremely diligent and professional in implementing the new system. They knew their jobs well, were extremely prompt, and cleaned up both along the way and at the end of each day. Kudos to the technicians Bill and Ziggy for all their hard work. They get extra credit for navigating the landscaping to install the outside A/C unit (no damage to the landscaping whatsoever). We are extremely satistied with the experience. I will definitely use Horne in the future and will recommend them to others.

Our gas furnace failed to function in our 11 year old house. We called Horne because they are on Angie's list and we have used them before. Our technician arrived and quickly determined the ignitor was no longer functioning. He replaced the ignitor which fixed the problem and then performed a thorough check of the system, giving us some free and helpful tips for maintaining our system.
Description of Work: Furnace repair. Investigated reason furnace would not function. Accurately determined cause and fixed the problem.

Overall, it was a great experience. I have been using them to check my system twice a year for general maintenance over the past several years. They have always been really good; they are extremely honest and don't try to charge for parts that are not needed. They do what is needed to be done and don't try to sell extras. They were very neat and cleaned-up thoroughly after the installation was complete. I have recommended them to others.
Description of Work: They installed a gas pack; which included installation of registers, redid the duct work, and installed the trane system.

I was very pleased with their services. They ended up cleaning the exterior unit and adding freon as wekk. The cost added up quickly, but I received high quality work. I plan to continue working with them on an annual basis, or as needed.
Description of Work: They came out to install a thermostat I purchased. During the process, I was informed of a special they were running for a tune up.

I made an appointment with the company to show up between a certain time frame. My wife took a half day at work so that she could be home for the service technician. When she arrived home, there was a note on the door saying that he missed us because the technician arrived before the scheduled window. We called the Horne immediately at 3pm (the start of the window), the company implied that it was our fault for not being home early. We were promised that a technician would come by later. I called again at 6pm and was told that the technician was running late on another job. No technician ever showed up, and no one ever called us back. Waste of a day and waste of our time.

Upon further review, our records indicate a scheduled call on 8-13-10 with a requested time of 3pm or later. As you were advised on the phone by our customer service department, the service department is on a "call to meet" basis and times are not guaranteed. We certainly do our best to meet all customer requests, especially with scheduling appointments but the service schedule changes many times throughout the day based on service contract customers (priority status), call volume, repair times and geography. We apologize for the scheduling conflict, and your wife's time away from work. One item you failed to mention in your report is our offer for weekend service. As a result of the missed service visit on 8-13-10, we offered Saturday service on 8-14-10 at no additional cost. Your response was an emphatic "No" and that we would be reported to Angie's List. Horne Heating and Air Conditioning is proud of our history with Angie's list and our consistent Super Service Awards as a result of quality service to our customers.
