We’ve used them twice, and we’ve been very pleased. Their prices are a bit high, but I feel like I get what I pay for. They showed us a photo of the cracked heat exchanger and advised us that we should get a new boiler, which we did. They did a thoroughly professional job, and I’d recommend them to others!
Description of Work: The last visit, they installed a new boiler. We also have a maintenance contract with them.

It was an excellent experience overall. I’ve been dealing with that company for years, and it’s always been an excellent! The technicians are always prompt, explain everything that they are going to do, and they stick to their estimated price and their schedule. The units that they have installed always work and are of good quality. It’s the only heating company that I’m going to use in Charlotte!

They did an excellent job removing the old HVAC units and installing the new units. The quality of their work is excellent. I selected them based on the scope of work they recommended and their competitive price. They always made sure I was happy with the work being performed. I trust that they will do the right thing if I have any problems. I recommended them to several of my neighbors who installed new units and they are also happy with the work performed. The cost of their maintenance plans for the units seems high, but they do spend over an hour with the units when performing a semi-annual check-up. The cost is worth the quality time and effort they put into their maintenance service. They have always been responsive when I have a problem and always show up on time and perform the work promised. I continue to use Horne for my HVAC needs and would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Installed two new heating and cooling systems for my home. One unit was a furnace and A/C Unit the other was a furnace with a Dual Fuel (natural gas) Heat Pump.

Great experience! Technician, immediately identified the problem and had the part on his truck, so the problem was resolved before he left. Will always use them.
Description of Work: Our heating unit completely shut down. The technician, quickly identified the problem and replaced the needed part, a capacitor. The unit was running again within thirty minutes after the technician arrived.

I had called two other service companies and decided to get a third proposal. I called Horne Heating and Air and requested a proposal on a furnace replacement. Jon Horne came out that afternoon and provided several options with his recommendation. He also examined my duct work and recommended some upgrades based on his inspection. I knew that something was not right about the ducts since air distribution was not what it should be. Jon was very informative and thorough. I reviewed the proposal and after comparing the equipment, installation and my impression of the company based on the proposal process, I decided to let Horne do the work. I called to schedule and they were able to send their installer out the next day. They estimated about a day and half to complete the installation and duct work upgrade. It was completed within the specified time frame. The installers gave me a courtesy call that morning to tell me they were on the way. They showed up when expected and immediately went to work. I came home that evening to a newly installed furnace with the duct work changes to be completed the following day. Looking over the install, it was all very neatly done and I was impressed with how the installation looked and worked. They also did a great job cleaning up after they were done each day. The office staff was also great to deal with. Now that the system has been working for about a week, I am very pleased with its operation and with increased flow of air throughout the house. I will definitely use them again.

We were obtaining quotes for replacing our worn-out furnace and air conditioner. We had already obtained two quotes, one from the company that had been servicing the old unit and one from the local company in town. We found that we had a $3000 difference between quotes for equipment that was supposed to be identical, so we decided to seek out a third quote. We selected Horne as the third company based upon their superior Angie's List rating. Jon Horne came to our home and took the measurements for the system just as the previous two companies had, but the difference with Horne was that Jon took the time to explain the differences between the different models, what we advantages we would gain between the different models, etc. John had prepared three different proposals for us to review (the other companies each gave only one; one of which was for the bottom-end equipment and the other wouldn't even give specifics on the equipment.) Jon laid everything out in such detail that in the end he was able to offer us a system with top-of-the-line models for less money than the low bid company after rebates from the gas company, electric company, tax credits and zero percent financing on the better units. Once we selected Horne, we called and asked if they could do the installation the next day to accommodate our work schedules. They said that was not a problem and that they would see us in the morning. They showed up on time and worked hard all day long. The installation took three days to complete. On the third day, the technicians came to us and told us that they had mistakenly installed an optional air-cleaning accessory that we did not order. They gave us the option of letting us have the upgrade at their cost or removing the upgrade. Since we had no need for the accessory, we opted to have them remove it. One of the surprises we had in the end was that Horne actually replaced the entire duct system as part of the installation. This was offered by the other companies that gave us quotes for a moderate fee, but it was included in Horne's price. The original time estimate to install the new system was 1 to 1.5 days, and it took them three. We don't mind at all that the job took twice as long as expected because we know that the guys took their time to do the job right and know that we won't have any problems related to poor installation. The three techs that installed our system were Collin, Christopher and Brandon. They did a great job and we want to recognize them by name. We are extremely happy that we chose Horne for this project, and Horne will certainly be the first call we make in a couple years when it is time to replace the other unit.

I had a service issue and they responded quickly and fixed it. Great service experience.
Description of Work: My heat/ac unit stopped working. I called Horne and they were out the next day to fix it. Turned out to be a part that was covered under warranty so it didn't cost me anything. They did a real good job. I like that when they come in the home they have little booties they put on their feet so they don’t get your carpet dirty. They are very respectful of your home.

Mr. Mike, the technician, was on time and in uniform. He put his shoe covers on and started working. He was here for almost 3 hrs. I have a service contract for 20yrs. The company had also replaced a system for us.

It went as expected.
Description of Work: Remove and replace upstairs heat/air with new Trane components as well as all ductwork upper and lower floors. I used Trane equipment because of reputation for quality but it is certainly at the upper end of the price scale. Horne's bid was competitive with other Trane dealers in area and I used them before for lower unit with good results. This time was no different. The only complaint i would have was partially my fault. I thought we would receive a tax credit for the new installation but we had already received the max credit from the year before. Their salesman might have reminded us of that when we were discussing options, I may have gone with a cheaper option.

I have used them forever and I like them. Their prices are a little bit higher. I have an annual contract with them which I just renewed. I have been dealing with them for years and we just don’t have a lot of boilers here in this part of the country, so a lot of companies aren’t that good at it and this company is not bad. The original owner was Jimmy Horne and now his son owns it, so I have been with them since then. I have actually moved from one house to this house and I have actually had service agreements with them forever. I have learnt that sometimes they can be a little higher priced, so with this air handler that I needed to replace out in the garage, I decided that I was going to get my three quotes. They came and gave me a quote I guess for heat pumps for the garage. They were very prompt in coming, got me all the information that I needed and they did some follow-up calls.

HORRIBLE. Total creep. Speech impediment made it very hard to understand him but I definitely understood his laugh and telling me it was going to be very expensive. He couldn't tell me how expensive, just it was going to be a lot. $90 for 2 minutes. He spent more time sitting in my driveway doing paperwork than he did in my house. NEVER. I can't believe an Angie's List vendor would send this guy to a potential customer.
Description of Work: HORRIBLE!!! Dave shows up, takes 2 minutes to look at my radiator issue, laughs because the issue is in the ceiling and then says its going to be really expensive and he'll be charging me as soon as he cuts into the ceiling. And he doesn't even know if that's where the leak is coming from. I asked how many radiators they work on and he said not many. I had no confidence in this guy and he was a total creep.

Horne Heating and Air Conditioning is concerned that the member was not 100% satisfied with our recent service. We have reviewed this complaint and the history of the service appointment and find that the member failed to mention a few key items in her submittal: Our organization confirmed the appointment the morning of 9-7-11 and advised the member at that time of the standard $90 diagnostic fee and that any additional repairs and/or parts would be approved before service is continued. The member acknowledged this information and advised us she would be paying the diagnostic by check. Our technician arrived on site, the customer explained the concern (radiators that may be leaking) and led our technician to the trouble areas. Our technician then diagnosed the radiators for a water leak. He searched the radiators top to bottom and could not find any sign of the leaks. These were the only areas that were not enclosed behind finished ceilings or walls. Our technician asked if the radiators had been started / bled, to which the customer replied, “no”, only later to admit that they were indeed operated during the 2010/2011 winter season. The member also advised that the plumbing pipes had all been replaced 2-3 weeks prior to our service visit. Our technician then advised the customer we could further assess the water spots but would need to cut the ceilings and there would be costs above and beyond the $90 to begin this work. At no time did our technician “laugh” at this customer. Once additional charges were communicated, the member promptly stated she had a second company en route and our technician then went out to complete the service invoice. The member approached our technician’s truck with a check in hand and inquired how long this would take. She then stated we were taking too long and handed the check to our technician. Once our technician completed the paperwork and knocked on the door to finalize the invoice and obtain a signature, the member would not answer the door. The member did contact our office and advised one of our Customer Service Representatives of her displeasure with the service call. Our Service Manager was not immediately available but did attempt to contact her very soon thereafter. The member would not answer our multiple phone calls. Our organization takes pride in the A+ rating we have with Angie's List, and the multiple Super Service Awards received since 1999. We attempted to contact the member to discuss and better understand her issue(s) with our service but were not given the opportunity. We simply ask that the member answer our phone calls or respond to our other inquiries. We admit no wrongdoing as we performed a diagnosis of the radiators via all accessible areas; but we are dedicated to 100% satisfaction with all customers. My A/C went out in the middle of a Friday night during high 90's weather. I called Horne on Saturday morning and they sent someone out the same day. He was a little later than anticipated but I totally understand given the heat wave we are experiencing. He discovered that my problem was going to need an electrician and did not charge me anything for coming out. Very nice!!! He also gave me the name of an electrician to call and so I have called him. I live in Mint Hill and the electrician is on the other side of Clover, SC but is still coming out today. I am so glad I joined Angie's List and found Horne!
