From the beginning, scheduling the appointment, the company was very professional, helpful and accommodating. Service was scheduled and attendant called me 20 minutes before arriving for the appointment. Very punctual. Was considerate by covering shoes and not tracking dirt in the house. Went with serviceman to see the work he was doing on the unit outside and he was very thorough and informative about what he was looking for. Couldn't be happier. Excellent response, very polite serviceman. Will use again.
Description of Work: Needed some peace of mind that my AC/Heat unit was in good shape for the winter as it has been a while since it was serviced. Was happy to see the Angie's list offer for a very reasonably priced service call and cleaning of unit.

The second tech can out and also did a wonderful job,rechecking the system and making suggestion.
Description of Work: The service man can to check on my heating and air condition,for a tune up. In the process founded other problems that was wrong with the systems.Was very kind and helpful,explainting everything,called to see whether the AC was still under warrent. Had another tech.to come out,free of charge to recheck and too explainted to me more in detailed. I would use this company again for further services.

The company never provided a window of time on when they would arrive, even after we asked they said they could not provide an estimated time of arrival. We had to take off from work and sit at the house all day long. We called around noon to get a time of arrival and we were told they would be there in 45 minutes and 2 hours later they were still not at the home. At that time we canceled the appointment and called another company. The lack of customer service from this company was unacceptable and I would never recommend them to anyone.

All other services are performed on a call-to-meet basis, with a 30 to 45 call ahead when a technician becomes available. It is unfortunate this report was posted without an opportunity to be of service and therefore we feel is not deserved. After a visit to review our needs, Horne provided 6 system options. Two proposed replacing both HVAC units that serve our upstairs with a single system; the others would have replaced just the system that had failed. The proposal options were based on the efficiency of the units they included. We decided to replace both systems because the price was less than for 2 systems and the proposed single system would provide heating and cooling to the 2 areas independently ? like a thermostat in each space. Installation was a challenge, removing and replacing units in the attic. Also considerable duct work had to be changed to function with just a single system. The Horne techs worked efficiently. The pull down attic stairs barely provided the needed space to move the units. The metal work to rework the duct system came together in our front yard. Installation was to have taken 2&1/2 days, but it hit a snag that prevented the system from running properly. On the third day a senior technician came out to diagnose the problem. He found the major problem was a malfunctioning electronics board that was part of the control mechanism for the system. That was a part of the Trane system itself that needed to be replaced. Next day the board was replaced and the county inspector signed off on the installation. The unanticipated delay was not a problem for us because the weather was moderate. The Horne staff were professional and friendly. The job was done with a minimum of mess and what little there was disappeared at the end of every day. Runners were laid down from our front door to the attic stairs to protect our floors.
Description of Work: The AC unit for part of our upstairs failed. We called Horne because we had used them before and were very pleased with the result. Because we have a separate system for the other part of our second floor that is 15 years old, Horne proposed the possibility of replacing both systems with a single system that would provide heat and cooling to the two areas separately.

I signed up for the AC tune-up, although I strongly suspected that something more was amiss with the AC unit, as it didn't seem exactly usual and customary to be required to drag out the wet vac and suck water from the AC pan in order for the AC unit to turn on... The service tech from Horne, Trey Kerr, showed up right on time for the AC tune up, carefully donned booties to protect our rugs and floors, and got right to work after making friends with our happy Golden Retriever, who tried to steal Trey's booties. In the process of the tune up, Trey checked everything very thoroughly and discovered several reasons for the trouble with water collecting in the pan. Some of these reasons weren't covered by the tune up, as I expected, but Trey was able and prepared to make the repairs during the same visit - saving me money, time, and,,, perspiration! Now our AC works great!

Mr. Kerr introduced himself, put on shoe protectors, and went to the filters and thermostat. He suggested changing the filters and I fully concurred. He asked me if I had any questions about the features of the thermostat..nice touch. Next he went to the coil/blower section of the unit and performed his duties. Afterward, he went to the compressor and washed the coils and took measurements. He was here about an hour and said he was going to put all that he found online for me to see. There was no hard sell on anything, all informative. He told about the maintenance agreement and what the various levels included. Mr. Kerr was very polite and very helpful. I feel that he did a wonderful job. A very nice experience. I can understand the ratings earned by them on Angie's List.
Description of Work: I purchased the Big Deal, which was a total inspection of my A/c system. I purchased this unit several years ago, but put off having someone look at it as it was running very well. But everything needs some maintenance, so I bit the bullet and went through Angie's List. I sent an email to the company to set up an appointment. I usually have Fridays off, but work had pretty well nixed that option. Jeff Horne responded and someone called the next morning. I was told that a tech was in the area if a half hours notice wasn't too short. Sure enough, in about thirty-five minutes the tech, Trey Kerr, pulled up the drive.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was okay. I guess I didn't read the ad close enough because I thought it was for all of our A/C and heating units and it was only for one so when they came out they tried to upcharge me for checking the second one. It was partially my fault but it needed to be a little clearer on the coupon. They were very friendly except that I actually had to get three appointments before they actually came to the house. They went to the wrong address on the first appointment and I have no idea how they got the old address because everything had the new address on it. The second time somebody called in sick and they couldn't come and the third time they finally came. He was very clear that I would have to pay an additional $129 to have the upstairs unit checked. The guy was really nice and I assume he did everything he was supposed to do because I didn't go out with him when he did the check.
Description of Work: I used Horne Heating and Air Conditioning to check the primary unit downstairs.

The Horne technician arrived at the agreed to time. He correctly diagnosed a problem with the downstairs HVAC unit, and was very clear in describing the problem to me. Note we did not have Horne fix the problem because it was covered by an existing home warranty. Overall, Horne's technician's demeanor was personable and professional.

They were very easy schedule an appointment with and showed up on time, called ahead, were very professional about everything they did. May be a little over professional if that is possible. They took pictures of my house and were quick to point out possible problems before even coming inside. I am the only owner of the house that was built less than 10 years ago and there are no visible repairs required, so his comment put me on my heels right from the start. Our upstairs unit has never worked right and is a very lengthy story that they listened to politely. Once I was finished they seemed to have noticed some of the items I was talking about including possible duct and plenum issues The quote took much longer to get than any of the other people I called but it was by far the most complete. Once more almost to much information was included making it a little hard to follow with lots of pictures and lengthy descriptions.Their quote was only a few hundred dollars higher than the lowest but this was for the base unit only. The section labeled Life Improvements (or something close to that) are items they recommend but are not added to the cost unless you choose them. I was very interested in the duct work section which was almost as much as the base unit. Other items include HEPA filters and phone controlled thermostats. They included five different Trane units each going up in cost and SEER value. They wanted to do a follow up presentation that may have helped with all the information provided but I did not have the time.

Service technician was very helpful and honest and made sure I understood the condition of everything before he went and fixed anything. Heat pump system that is old and in need of replacement, but decided to have him get it working since we were having some hot temperatures and we have small children. He got everything working again and explained to me that I would most likely need to replace it soon, which I knew was the case. A few hours later a salesman came out and was very thorough in checking my entire home from crawlspace to attic to see what the condition of everything was. He ended up leaving me with 3 estimates on a range of systems to look over. I ended up going with another company simply because they offered a slightly better price and this project was not anywhere in my budget already. When Mike called me back to see what I had decided and I told him I was going with someone else, he was very professional and thanked me for the opportunity to do business.

Sell above. I really didn't see what was done, but I could hear him working on the system and it works beautifully. I am very happy with Home Heating and A/C and would galdly use them again. Very easy people to deal with, and arrive when they say they will. They also serviced my furnace last October and did a great job with it also.
Description of Work: My Air Conditioner was serviced for the coming warm season. It was cleaned out and put in great shape for the summer. I didn't really see all that was done, but he worked on it for over an hour, as well as cleaned it with the garden hose. Other companies were not nearly as detailed and didntt spend half the time on the A/C.

I saw the special deal on Angie's List in February and decided to give Horne's a try as the price was right. Once I purchased the deal, I was contacted within a day or two and an appointment was made for mid-April to service my ac unit before I turned it on for the season. However, the day before my 8:00-8:30 appointment window rain was predicted, so I called Horne's to see if the appointment could be moved to later in the day. The person I spoke with was very accommodating and I was informed that a technician would be able to come by after sometime after noon and would call me 30 minutes before arriving. Since I had taken a vacation day to do some things around the house anyway, that suited me just fine. Around 1:30 or so, I received a phone call from the technician that he was about 20 minutes away from my house. Once he arrived & introduced himself, I showed him where the equipment was and he got down to business. Very friendly, neat and professional. I was more than satisfied with the service and will definitely use Horne's again.

technicien showed up on time, was very professional, answered all questions, was knowledgeable and articulate, did a great job.
Description of Work: the technicien diagnosed problem, found a hole in the copper coil, soldered it, pressure tested the system, vacuumed it, filled it with freon.
