Will not do business with Horne again. One mistake after another. Here are examples: 1) When they installed the gas furnace in the attic, they essentially cut off access to the attic since the new furnace blocked the passage at the top of the steps. No mention of this prior to installation. 2) Drip pan to furnace was installed on opposite side of drip valve ? they had to come back and move the drip pan under the valve. 3) Main floor CleanEffects was did not power on ? had to make another trip back to the house to fix. 4) Humidifier did not initially work - one more trip back to house. 5) after installation, heat would not come on upstairs. Had to make another trip to house to fix. 6) Took shortcut when installing humidifier ? they did not install the necessary brace to keep the humidifier attached. Humidifier tube came unattached so I taped it back myself ? could not afford to miss any more work for another Horne ?bad service? call. 7) Last but not least; as my sales rep was constantly apologizing for each of these issues, he told me that this was a ?learning experience.? I have continually called over the summer to get the humidifier properly installed. Am always told ?we will get right back with you? ? several weeks later I have to jog their memory. Very poor, Mr. Horn.

Used Horne in fall to repair heating unit and was pleased, so called today when I noticed over the past week that the floor under my downstairs HVAC unit & the carpet next to the floor were wet, although I could see no leak. I suspected the drain pan might be cracked, as 5 years ago I had to replace the drain pan in my upstairs HVAC unit when its floor & nearby carpet also stayed wet. Receptionist Dee answered my call right away, & said they'd work me in today. In less than 2 hours a worker called, & was here in 10 minutes. He covered his shoes & was neat & careful as he removed the filter to check underneath the HVAC. He verified that I would need a new drain pan. He told me it would take a week to get the part, would cost about $600 for parts & labor, & take 1/2-3/4 of a day to replace. He also said that the condo building's water might need to be shut off, but he would confirm that & tell me when they called to schedule the work. I will use the Angie's List coupon towards the parts cost. From my past replacing the upstairs drain pan I could tell that the price he quoted was about what I expected, and I appreciated how quickly he was able to diagnose the problem and give me all the information I needed to plan for the repair. I also appreciate very much how fast they responded to my call.

My current HVAC unit is 17 years old. They simply came in, found the problem, and fix it. Just a capacitor module problem. Comments were made given the age of system, if the part fails in a few months or sooner, should consider replacing the blower motor. These guys were straight up, honest, and would recommend to anyone. I was not prompted for a follow up consultation service. I was not offered additional maintenance services. Duct cleaning services. Etc. any HVAC problems I have in future, these are the guys I'm calling!

It was a great experience. Our tech got right to the repair after assessing the issue. The price reflected the combination of the service call and the part and we thought it was very fair, especially given the hour of the evening. We would definitely use this company, again, in the future and will sign up for their maintenance program.
Description of Work: Our AC fan was not functioning and the unit was not cooling. We discovered this after coming from a later dinner out. We looked over other Angie's List members as well as the original company from whom we purchased this unit. We were very pleased with the quick response and within a couple of hours, our service tech drove from Gastonia to Monroe to take care of this. The capacitor was bad and so he had a replacement part on the van. The solution worked beautifully and our house was back to cool in no time!

The owner and service agent who came to my house to perform the service were both extremely professional, respectful, courteous and honest. At NO point in time was I uncomfortable with or skeptical of anything I was being told, the source of the problem that was described or the options and final recommendation we discussed. Everyone at the company that I talked to and dealth with were all extremely respectiful which was a welcome change from previous experience I had with other vendors.
Description of Work: The service provider arrived and perfomed problem detemination on one of my AC units which was not blowing cold air. After determining the source of the problem, the service agent explained that the source of the issue was due to a probable leak and loss of freon. They discussed my options, answered all of my questions until I felt comfortable making a decision on what service I wanted performed and then proceeded with adding stop leak solvent and freon to my broken air unit.

Office and tech were friendly. I called for service about 8:30am on a Saturday. Office person asked me questions related to what problem I was experiencing. She said it sounded like I would need freon. My a/c unit outside was running however I had a small block of ice forming and my townhome was not cooling. She said she would send a Tech who would be calling me soon. A short time later, maybe 10-15 minutes, I received a friendly call introducing himself and said he would be arriving shortly, which he did.
Description of Work: Air was not cooling. Diagnostic and service completed by 10:30am. Tech seemed thorough, spent a good deal of time here and answered all my questions and provided me with my options to resolve the issue. I chose to have freon added. Unit needed 2 lbs of freon, total cost for the service was $234 utilizing a $30 Angie's List Coupon. Diagnostic was $90. Tech said they would assist me in finding out if my Lennox unit was still under warranty as I could have a leak and may need a coil replaced which could be expensive, part and labor. Tech left me with a brochure which included pricing a contract. There was no pressure to sign a contract. He said it was information he was leaving for my review if interested and I could mail in the contract if I decide to go that route. He also mentioned periodically the company has various coupon deals on AL. Invoices apparently are emailed to you for the work performed.

The installers left sheet metal screws in the driveway which caused my wife to get a flat, no one responded after I notified the company, They left old duct work in the attic, Installed the air handler incorrectly so I had a water in the pan when corrected the insulation came loose inside the unit so they spray glued it back, The outside unit was not charged correctly so my unit froze up and began leaking water from the ice onto my ceiling. The technician said they would be back in 2 weeks to check the freon level and install a grille in the bathroom, did not show up. Installers kept saying they could not wait to get the ---- out of here. etc.

Installed as scheduled w/o delays. No damage to existing system or surrounding areas. Even laid plastic on the steps and walkway leading from the front door to help keep the area clean. Great service!@
Description of Work: Evaporator coil was corruded and needed to be replaced. However the outside unit also needed to be upgraded. They provided enough information for us to make an adequate and knowledgeable decision when upgrading our current system. Very pleased with the customer service and level of attention. Horne did a phenomenal job replacing our HVAC system. We went from one unit to a two unit configuration, one for upstairs and one for downstairs. They replaced all of the duct work under the house and added all new ducting in the attic. They used great sub-contractors to do the electrical and spray foam insulation. The climate in the house is so much easier to control now. I would recommend Horne to anyone, their staff was very upfront from the very beginning about costs, choices, etc. John Horne, owner of the company, came out for an initial consultation to go over all the options available. A+ for sure!

The company was great to deal with from beginning to end. Very professional, and provided consistent follow up for scheduling appointment, even when I had to cancel the scheduled appointment last minute. They continued to follow up proactively until we could get the visit rescheduled and showed up right on time, with a courtesy call a few minutes ahead of time to let me know they were on the way. Once the technician was there, he was very friendly and worked diligently to get everything done. Overall, I was very pleased with the professionalism of Horne Heating and Air and will certainly use them again, and recommend them highly.

This review follows a tune-up review I recently posted. Three weeks after my tune-up by Horne Heating and Air Conditioning, my downstairs AC unit died. The timing certainly seemed a little coincidental, but I will look beyond that at this point. After our AC unit died (blowing warm air only), I gave Horne the benefit of the doubt and assumed maybe something simple was done during the tune-up that caused the system to shut down. I called Horne to come diagnose the problem (even though I stated in my prior review that I would not do so?). Unfortunately, this service appointment did not go any better than the last. This time, a new service technician came out to my house. He verified the unit was very low in refrigerant and assumed there must be a leak somewhere. He stated we could add refrigerant (estimating $200-$300 in cost) but if there was a leak, it would fail at some point later. The other option was to perform a leak test to determine if there was a leak. We agreed to the leak test, at a cost of $140. The technician took his tool straight to the coil and claimed he was able to find a leak in about fifteen minutes. He did not trace the line back to the compressor outside or check the compressor itself (even though my wife asked him to do so several times). At this point, he stated the leak was in an area where it could not be repaired and that I should look at options to replace the entire system. As a follow-up to the prior tune-up I had, Horne provided estimates on new AC units. Therefore, I already had quotes in hand. What I did not have was an estimate to replace just the coil. Horne was very pushy, forcing the need to replace the entire unit and did not want to discuss any other options. I contacted the sale rep who had provided the quotes three weeks prior and asked for a quote to replace only the coil. After a couple of rude and very sales focused emails, I gave up. Horne has only one goal when they have a customer with a failed AC unit?to sell them a new unit (including a furnace which is not needed). I should have taken my own advice and called someone else to begin with. In the end, my wife contacted Horne and was directed to Joe Horne to discuss our concerns. He was very rude to my wife and was not willing to discuss the events at all. Joe stated that they had done what was asked and ?that was the truth?. We were not blaming them for the failed AC. We simply wanted to discuss how poorly this experience had been, and that customers should be provided all the options and information necessary to make an educated decision. If anyone is considering using this company, I would recommend you proceed with caution. Customer support and, certainly, customer satisfaction is not a priority for Horne Heating and Air Conditioning. We have since engaged another company for service and the experience has been much more pleasant. I will post a review for that company once my AC replacement is complete.

Our organization is sorry to read this review, and are sorry you are not satisfied with the services performed and prices quoted. Our technician and comfort consultant provided services and information as approved and as requested respectively. It is apparent the pricing did not meet your budget. I personally witnessed the follow-up phone conversation with Jon Horne and at no time was he rude during the discussion. Bottom line, we do not practice a hard sell approach. But we will not do a disservice to the client and replace only a coil on a failing, older system as that type of plan only leads to future problems and more cost down the road. We are happy to know you have found someone the assist with your AC needs. Horne Heating and Air Conditioning looks forward to future opportunities to prove our high rankings for professionalism, customer service and history in the HVAC field are well earned.
