Description of Work: CPI installed a complete home alarm system, cat 5/cable jacks and surround sound speakers in our newly built home. | |David was very helpful in the sales and design process as we determined where every tv jack had to go, as well as security needs throughout our new home. | |Once the home was completed we had the technician come out and the positive experience continued. The technician was punctual and polite and fully explained what he was going to be doing and consulted with us on things like best location for inddor and outdoor cameras as well as motion detector and window contacts. When all was completed he cleaned up after himself leaving no mess for us to deal with. The technician after completing the job walked my wife and I through use of the system and helped us download the app and walked us through its use as well as the CPI website. | |The experience could not have been better or easier and would hoghly recommend the CPI team for your low voltage and security needs.

 + -1 moreEveryone was pleasant and nice to deal with. Unfortunately,the original installation was done wrong. It took several tries to fix it. The phone people are nice enough but when you complain, they are obviously responding with lines from a prewritten script. Poor communications within departments. Different departments will respond wihout knowing what I have been told by other departments.
Description of Work: Had an alarm system installed for my business, which had no land line. The salesman assured me that their cell phone system would work just as well. Alarm was installed improperly. Was finally fixed after 2 or 3 attempts. After several months I got a phone call suggesting that I test my alarm every month, so I tested it. CPI took over 20 minutes to call me about the alarm going off. They then came out 3 or 4 times to try to fix the problem but concluded that the cell connection would not be adequate. The whole idea behind going with the cell connection was to avoid putting in a land line, which was now necessary. I complained that I wanted my contract cancelled since the salesman had lied to me. They refused. I then insisted that they not charge me for the 6 months of cell coverage because I really did not have an alarm during that time. 20-30 minutes before they contact me to see if everything is alright, is a worthless alarm. They gave me 2 months.

 + -1 moreI, Mrs. X, initiated phone call and made an appointment to meet with a representative. The day before the appointment. Alvin left a message at my home for Mr. X, confirming the appointment. Mr. X had nothing to do with the transaction and I found this very sexist. I refuse to do business with these type of people.

ADDITIONALLY, HE SHOULD HAVE SET UP THE ECELL-PHONE BACKUP BEFORE WORKING, SINCE IT TOOK OVER 3 HRS TO ACTIVATE-- HE LEFT TO GO TO ANOTHER JOB AND CAME BACK AROUND 6PM. HE TOOK MY OLD SIGN AND I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR OVER 3 WEEKS FOR NEW YARD SIGNS!

THAT'S WHEN THINGS GOT UGLY. WHEN I CALLED, THE NEXT REP SAID I NEED TO SPEAK W/ANOTHER PERSON. EVENTUALLY, THE OTHER PERSON CAME ON, BASICALLY BERATING ME FOR THE CANCELLATION. NEXT DAY, THEY CALLED BACK TO "CONFIRM" THE APPT. I SAID IT HAD BEEN CANCELLED ALREADY, AND THAT REP DEMANDED I SET ANOTHER APPT. I RECOMMEND YOU ASK TO BE TAKEN OFF THE CALL LIST SO YOU DON'T GET REPEATED CALLS.

THE SYSTEM HAS BEEN WORKING FINE. WE PLAN TO RENEW OUR CONTRACT NEXT YEAR.

I SWITCHED TO CPI BECAUSE THEY WERE ABLE TO PROVIDE LESS EXPENSIVE UPDATE OF MY SECURITY EQUIPMENT AND I LIKED THE INTERCOM SYSTEM AND THE LOCAL MONITORING. MONTHLY FEE IS $37, WHICH IS A LITTLE MORE THAN I WAS PAYING. SO FAR I HAVE BEEN PLEASED WITH INSTALL AND MONITORING.
Description of Work: UPDATED HOME'S SECURITY SYSTEM AND INSTALLED SOME NEW EQUIPMENT TO ALLOW CONVERSION FROM ADT TO CPI.

 + -1 moreHAVE A MULTI-YEAR SIGNED CONTRACT WITH CPI FOR MONITORING. THEY ARE VERY RELIABLE AND EMPLOYEES ARE ALWAYS FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. WHEN WE HAVE SET THE ALARM OFF ACCIDENTALLY IN THE PAST, THE CPI OPERATORS INQUIRE OVER THE INTERCOM IN LESS THAN A MINUTE TO CONFIRM EVERYTHING IS OK. I THINK CPI IS CLEARLY THE BEST SECURITY COMPANY OPERATING IN CHARLOTTE.

THE GENTLEMAN WHO CAME STILL HAD TO WALK THROUGH THE WHOLE SALES PITCH AND DEMO. HE WAS A LITTLE TOO INFORMAL FOR MY TASTE, THOUGH MY SIGNIFICANT OTHER DIDN'T SEEM TO MIND. WE WERE ABLE TO GET AN INSTALLATION APPOINTMENT WITHIN A WEEK, THOUGH NOT DURING THE EVENING AS WE HAD HOPED. THE INSTALLATION WENT SMOOTHLY AND THE INSTALLATION TECH WAS POLITE, AND DID A RELATIVELY GOOD JOB CLEANING UP (HE LEFT SOME SCRAP WIRE NEAR THE FRONT DOOR). WE INSTALLED THE SYSTEM AFTER A BREAK-IN AND HAVE BEEN USING THE SERVICE FOR OVER A MONTH AND FEEL VERY SAFE.
Description of Work: INSTALLATION OF SECURITY SYSTEM WITH ONE MOTION DETECTOR FOR A ONE STORY, 1600-SQ FOOT HOME. WE DID NOT PAY ANYTHING FOR INSTALLATION, BUT WE PAY A MONTHLY MONITORING FEE. THERE IS A TWO-YEAR SERVICE CONTRACT, HOWEVER. I MENTION THIS NOT AS A CRITICISM, BUT AS A WARNING TO ANYONE WHO MIGHT BE PLANNING A MOVE IN THE NEAR FUTURE.

HE SAID THERE WOULD NOT BE AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE TO UPGRADE THE POWER SUPPLY IF NEEDED AND TO CALL BACK IF WE HAD ANY PROBLEMS. THE UNDERSIZE POWER SUPPLY ENDED UP CAUSING MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH THE ALARM THAT I HAVE SPENT MANY HOURS TRYING TO RESOLVE. CPI WOULD NOT STAND BEHIND WHAT THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME. THEY FORCED ME TO EITHER PAY $795.00 OR TO EXTEND MY CONTRACT BY 3 YEARS AND PAY $8.00 MORE A MONTH TO FIX THE PROBLEM CAUSED BY THE UNDERSIZED POWER SUPPLY. IN ADDITION, PARTS OF THE SYSTEM DID NOT FUNCTION AFTER THEY PERFORMED SERVICE AND ASSURED ME IT WAS WORKING ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. AFTER BEING A HAPPY AND LOYAL CUSTOMER OF CPI FOR OVER 5 YEARS, I NO LONGER HAVE ANY CONFIDENCE IN THEM AND WILL NO LONGER RECOMMEND THEM TO OTHERS.

I PRICED AND COMPARED NEW ALARM MONITORING COMPANIES WITH CELLULAR BACK UP OPTIONS AND CHOOSE ANOTHER COMPANY AFTER FULFILLING MY THREE-YEAR COMMITMENT. NOW CPI WANTS TO CHARGE ME $495 FOR THE ACTUAL ALARM CIRCUIT BOARD. THIS IS ACTUALLY A BAIT AND SWITCH TACTIC THAT THE SALES REPS USE DURING THE INITIAL SALES MEETING. WHEN YOU CALL TO CANCEL SERVICE THEY PLAY ON YOUR EMOTION ON NOT HAVING AN ALARM ''BECAUSE THEY ARE TAKING IT BACK OR CHARGING YOU $495". I WOULD SUGGEST USING A MORE REPUTABLE COMPANY THAT ALSO RESPECTS THE LAW ON BAIT AND SWITCH. IN THE LONG RUN YOU WILL PAY LESS, WITH BETTER SERVICE, USING SOMEONE ELSE.

 + -1 moreI HAVE BEEN WITH CPI FOR 2 YEARS NOW. THEY ARE VERY GOOD. THEIR "REAL TIME" RESPONSE IS UNPARALLELED WITH OTHER ALARM COMPANIES AND THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS GREAT. I USED TO BE WITH ANOTHER COMPANY, BUT CHANGED TO CPI DUE TO A VERY BAD EXPERIENCE WITH THEM. WHEN HAVING AN ALARM, YOU NEED TO REALIZE THAT STUFF CAN GO WRONG WITH THE SYSTEM EVERY NOW AND THEN. WHAT IS TRULY IMPORTANT IS HOW THE COMPANY HANDLES THESE PROBLEMS AND HOW QUICKLY THEY COME TO FIX THEM. I HAVE HAD ONE ISSUE, AND THEY CAME OUT IMMEDIATELY TO FIX IT. SINCE I WAS AN EXISTING CUSTOMER AND MOVED INTO A NEW HOUSE THAT I BOUGHT, THEY REALLY TOOK CARE OF ME. THEY HOOKED EVERYTHING UP FOR FREE, EXCEPT FOR THE SMOKE DETECTOR. THEY DID CHARGE ME FOR THAT WHICH WAS NOT A BAD DEAL AT ALL. THEY SIMPLY LEFT MY CURRENT SYSTEM IN THE APARTMENT THAT I WAS RENTING. ANYWAYS, JUST MY 2 CENTS OF A GOOD EXPERIENCE WITH THIS COMPANY. IT REALLY DOES GIVE YOU A LITTLE MORE PIECE OF MIND WHEN YOU GO OUT OF TOWN AND AT NIGHT.
