Description of Work: Discovered that diagonal support beam in ceiling was completely broken through. Roof companies said I needed to get a structural engineer to assess and provide remedy first. After calling 4 other engineering firms, John McClancy was able to assess the situation the next day and, fortunately, he identified the problem as knots in the wood rather than wood rot. I was able to fix myself per his instructions. He charged a bit more than the other engineers indicated, but it was worth the speed given the situation.

 + 0 moreMr. McClancy's generous advice left me reassured and grateful. None of the 4-5 engineers I had previously contacted offered any information except the consultation fees they would charge.
Description of Work: I had a concern about some cracks in a masonry house on a slab foundation. Mr. McClancy listened, asked questions, examined photos, and at the end he explained at length why it wouldn't be worth my expense to hire an engineer.
