About a year later we noticed mold discoloration around the toilet in the other bathroom. It became obvious that the seal around this toilet was leaking. We had to pull up a section of flooring in the area between the toilet and the shower which we are replacing with tile. About four square feet of sub-flooring around the toilet was wet, causing the vinyl flooring to become moldy. Again, the contractor showed us that the wax seal was not installed properly and the toilet mounting bolts had not been tightened sufficiently.
We are going to contact Leicester Carpeting today to see if they will accept responsibility for the repair costs we are incurring. I will update this review with the results.
Update: I called Leicester Carpet to inform them of the situation. Unfortunately we did not call them first, as they have a life-time warranty on their installations. Since the repair is already completed they cannot view the damage and are therefor unable to compensate us for the damage.
"Leicester Carpet Sales (LCS) completed the member’s job on 07/10/2008. The member made no request to fix quality issues at that time. The balance due on the invoice at the time of completion was $1525.63. The member failed to pay the balance of the invoice within the 30 day time limit. The member stated that she was indigent and could not pay the balance. Furthermore she was waiting on the settlement of an insurance claim. On 06/18/2009, LCS presented evidence of quality work performed and received judgment of $1185.72 in Small Claims Court (Attachment #1). Court records dated 7/20/2012 (attachment #2) indicate that to date, the member has paid only $500.00 of the judgment amount. LCS was forced to write off the balance as bad debt. Therefore, since the member did not pay the balance owed, she has no right to a warranty claim. However, LCS will honor the warranty claim provided the member first pays the balance of the judgment amount of ($685.72)."
This company is local, established and one I'd like to highly recommend however potential customers should be aware of this c**** in their armor. Hopefully it has been addressed and permanently repaired.
]We're satisfied with the carpet and initial installation. We're disappointed with our first needed service response timeliness. I hope my carpet never requires aditional attention. If it does I'll contact management early on in the process.
